and people are concerned about each other's well-being. >> in yountville tonight, offing community finds strength together. >> it's been five days since a man walked into the home and shot and killed three women. >> tonight there was a healing time. >> reporter: tonight in yountville, the community greeted each other with hugs. same came with friends and family. others like marie came alone with a bouquet of flowers and balloons. >> i brought three red balloons, because they're for red. for the women who passed away. and i bought a little pink one for the unborn baby that passed away with the mother and of course the white roses are for innocence. >> reporter: about 100 people gathered in the town's community center just to talk and heal. >> i think there's a real

mixture of feelings. >> reporter: dick came to get more information. >> the more people talk the more rumors get started. and the rumors are pretty rampant. >> reporter: napa county sheriff john robertson was also here and he hopes the empathy and compassion from the community continues. local firefighters also joined the meeting. >> that's the number one thing we're trying to do, get everything back to normal, but we don't want to forget the three ladies who lost their lives. >> reporter: they were shot in the ptsd center where they all worked and were trying to help. now pathway home is closed indefinitely. abc 7 news. >> a public memorial for the three victims will take place monday march 19th beginning at 6:00 at napa valley performing arts center at lincoln theater.

classes stopped across the country when students walked out in solidarity against gun violence. people of all ages paused to listen to the voices of the young saying enough. when it comes to the lives being ended by gunfire. >> this is what democracy looks like! >> they left classes at many schools but spoke with one voice, calling for an end to gun violence. calls for change rose from many communities across the bay area and the country. like in san francisco city cityy one young man answered critics who said students would have been better off staying in class. >> why are we going to be in class if we are going to be basically sitting sheep, you know? why would we go to class if we do not feel safe there? >> in florida, the voices of hundreds of students joined as

one. students at marjory stoneman douglas school urged lawmakers to pass gun laws. and one young woman stood outside her school in new jersey all alone. she claims her school only gave students the option of gathering in the gymnasium for 17 minutes but she said that wasn't good enough. >> i care about it, so i want to do something about it. >> now organizers are already planning more events, including the march for life in washington, d.c. on march 24th. >> san leandro high school has canceled classes tomorrow because of a shooting threat found in school today. students and parents panicked as the school was put on rock dolo while police secured the campus. a commission approved a set of guidelines for taser use within the police department.

the policy must obtain the approval of the officers union. lilian kim has the story. >> the motion passes 6-1. >> reporter: after months of discussion, the san francisco police commission voted on a taser policy, one that was more restrictive than one desired by the san francisco police officer's association. they voted to call tasers weapons as opposed to devices. >> i think in order to have credibility with the public, we need to be honest about what this thing is, it's a weapon. >> reporter: another key point, stronger language about when they can use a taser. they can only tuesday when a person is violently resisting arrest. as written in a june ballot mess usual. that proposal seeks voter approval on a taser policy it crafted on its own. >> this is a weapon that has the potential to be lethal. i think it should be at a higher level, and i think it should be very clear what we mean.

mussels on sunday. united airlines is under fire for making another mistake in regard to a pet. instead of sending the pet to kansas they sent the dog to japan. >> he's probably scared and freaked out and hurting because he doesn't have his medicine. >> she was flying with her family from organiegon to kansa city. when she went to pick up her german shepherd, she was given a great dane. the dogs were accidently put into the wrong kennels. this comes one day after the tragic death of this puppy on a flight from houston to new york. the flight attendant told the family the bag the dog was stored in had to be stored in an overhead bin. >> she took him out and opened the thing and she got the dog, and he was dead. >> late tonight, a criminal investigation has been launched

into the dog's death. families would normally be all smiles at a toy store, but tonight at toys "r" us locations parents are sad. they are closing or selling all 800 stores in the u.s. abc 7 news reporter kate eieat e marzullo has more. >> reporter: these shoppers wouldn't leave without a photo and they can't believe it's going out of business. this was one of 180 already marked for enclosure in -- -- closure in january. but it was too much to bear for parents who wanted their children to grow up as toys "r" us kids as they did. >> i wanted to bring him to play with the toys. and now he can't do that. >> every gift i got came from toys "r" us pretty much. >> reporter: the only thing that surprises him is how surprised everyone else is.
