on abc 7 mornings. reporting live in san jose, matt keller, abc 7 news. matt, thank you. two bay area schools will be closed today because of shooting threats found on their bathroom walls. martinez junior high school and burlingame intermediate school are closed out of an abundance of caution. they do not believe the threats are real but they're not taking any chances. it's now 4:30. if you're just waking up with us, good morning. let's look at weather and traffic with mike. >> reggie, we'll start with the storm impact scale today and tomorrow. still light for showers and thunderstorms. the best chance of thunderstorms will be today. look at the snow level down to possibly 2500 feet in the north bay to 3,000 feet in the south bay. my 12-hour planner. a slippery start. more waves of showers and thunderstorms are possible. the coverage will taper a little bit during the evening hours. i think the morning commute is going to be the one with the most challenges due to the wet

streets out there. look at these temperatures once again. only in the low to mid-50s from noon to 4:00. dress for temperatures in the upper 40s as quickly as 7:00. let's see what elsa lexis is watching this morning. >> yeah. a crash in the east bay, mike. initially, it was reported as a solo vehicle spinout crash at san pablo avenue. that's blocking the fast lane right now. vehicle spun out. that's facing the wrong way. the emergency crews are on the way to the scene. there possibly is a second vehicle that crashed into the first one. really want to slow down and drive for those wet roads here this morning. here's a quick look outside at the soggy conditions. bay bridge toll plaza, no metering lights yet. just a stack-up in the cash lanes. med bridge disaster in miami, florida. authorities confirming that at least six people have been killed after the bridge came crashing down on the highway. >> this is a live look at the bridge at florida sbrnl university. cables supporting the bridge had

loosened and were being tightened at the time. here's abc news reporter, maggie rulli. >> overnight rescue crews frantically worked to get to those still trapped underneath the weight of this 1,000-ton bridge. >> we have engineers that have been on scene, ntsb, their team arrived last night to join the efforts. >> bringing in search and rescue dogs and heavy equipment. many first responders fighting to keep victims alive. >> we need to begin to do chest compressions to keep this guy alive, keep the oxygen going to the brain. >> it was meant to be a collaboration of hope. >> this bridge was about goodness, not sadness. now we're feeling immense sadness. >> it was a feat of engineering. the school posting this video going up in hours this past weekend using accelerated bridge

construction. the entire piece was rotated over the 8-lane highway in the largest use of this relatively new technology. authorities say they were conducting a stress test thursday morning and florida senator marco rubio tweets that it collapsed when the cables were being tightened. >> part of this project is federal funding. the families deserve to know what went wrong. >> top leaders calling for a full and thorough investigation. >> again, if anybody has done anything wrong, we'll hold them accountable. >> since 2010, more than 800 of these instant bridges have been constructed. they're supposed to be a safer way to build. now a 15-person ntsb team is on the scene working to figure out if it was caused by construction error for design flaw. maggie rulli, asbc news plrks miami, florida. the marin county sheriff's office is mourning. they escorted him to a funeral

home in san ansel mow. he died while responding to a 911 call. zirkle was there for nine years. he graduated in novato in 2011. he was the quarterback on the football team and played point guard on the basketball team. his assistant coach described him as a tremendous young man who was always smiling and willing to help others. >> i would see him and talk to him and ask him how he was doing in his pursuit of law enforcement. i thought that was perfect for him. he was so happy with what he was doing. >> he leaves behind his parents, two brothers and a fiance. the sheriff's office is meeting with zirkle's family to make funeral arrangements. oakland police are still trying to figure out exactly what happened after two bodies were pulled from lake merritt. the victims have been identified as 39-year-old michael grayson, 24-year-old tieian a johnson. their families say the two were

dating. someone called 9-1-1 around 4:15 yesterday morning reporting two people appeared to be drowning after an argument. grace was pulled out of the water by officers and later died at the hospital. a dive team found johnson's body a couple of hours later. >> i need closure to what my daughter went through and i know she wasn't going to give up her lifelike that. somebody killed her and i want to know why. >> investigators say johnson had signs of physical injuries. they are treating her death as a homicide. grace's death is considered accidental. president trump could be plajer planning to get rid of national security adviser h.r. mcmaster according to the "washington post." the president is working to find a replacement before making the announcement. the post confirmed the president's decision. sara sanders responded on twitter, quote, just spoke to potus and contrary to reports, they have a good working

relationship and there are no changes at the nsc. the investigations into russia's meddling in the presidential election is expanding. yesterday abc news confirmed the special counsel has issued subpoenas demanding president trump's family business hand over all documents related to russia. analysts say it's a sign robert mueller's investigation will continue for several more months. a source tells abc news mueller has information that raises more questions about the trump organization's financial dealings. san francisco is installing more bike lane barriers to protect cyclists from cars. the examiner reports safety posts were put up along the valencia street bike line. cyclists have long complained uber and lyft drivers swoop into the bike lane to pick up passengers. the barriers are a short-term solution that city supervisors have requested a study to find ways to make valencia street safer in the long run.

center yesterday. here is a closer look at the painting that he took. if you have any tips, the santa clara county sheriff wants to hear from you. vallejo released a tentative settlement. she was drugged, kidnapped and raped in 2015. it was dismissed as a hoax. she sued the city for defamation. the city will pay huskins $2.35 million. matthew muller later pled guilty to kidnapping charges and is serving a 40-year sentence. dozens of women are feeling empowered after spending the day at the warriors practice facility. >> it's part of an annual dubs event inspiring girls to consider a career in sports. abc 7 news reporter cornell barnard was there. >> reporter: dozens of middle school girls show they have the skills when it comes to shooting hoops. on the same court where the warriors practice their moves.
