two people and a unidentified female passenger died at the scene, another female passenger was taken to the hospital with life threatening injuries and a man from holliser had nonlife threatening injuries. >> we're still in the preliminary stages of the investigation, there was some indication that alcohol and marijuana may have contributed to that accident as well. >> people come up to communications hill for the views and the party. >> police are still looking into what these people were doing before the crash. the end result was the 13th fatal collision in san jose, and the 134th and 14th victims. smoke, it's best to stay where you're at or call for a friend or a cab to come pick you up, definitely do not drive while

high. >> i spoke with the santa clara county medical examiner's office this morning, they are working on identifying the victims and notifying their families. matt keller, abc 7 news. >> new this morning, a 64-year-old woman died after a hit and run in san francisco's chinatown. they found the woman injured in the road at broadway and stockton around 5:00 this morning. she died at the hospital. officers say the woman was hit by a car, they later found the car and arrested the 35-year-old driver. how much more rain are we going to get? it was certainly wet this morning. some showers. mike nicco is tracking today's storm, which is a one on our impact scale. we look at this is 101 and 880 in san jose. you can see nothing's coming down at the moment. as the showers move through, you can get yours at any time. mike? >> i wanted to show you 101 at

880, there's nothing happening right here. just a couple miles to the north, we have a thunderstorm that rolled off the bridge. moving through newark. expect a brief heavy downpour of rain and some small hail. remember don't go quit side if you hear when thunder roars, go indoors. this is moving off just to the due east. there, where it will create snow. there could be a dusting of snow up in the mountains near mount hamilton once this passes. there's more developing this is going to be the case for the rest of the day. remember your lightning safety rules, count 30 seconds after seeing lightning, if you hear thunder seek shelter until 30 minutes after you hear the last clap of thunder. this is a one, even though it's a one, we're going to have scattered showers and thunderstorms. we'll have fewer chances tomorrow. i'll show you an hour by hour look so you can get your weekend

would recommend that. kristen, back to you. >> it's a tough one right now. if you can safely take pictures or videos of the storm impact on your area, share them with us, use the #abc 7 now on social media, and you may see your photo or footage on the air online. deadly accident on an offramp from highway 4 in martinez. the offramp is partially blocked right now, the cause of the crash is still under investigation. san leandro police lifted a shelter in place order near bay fair mall this morning after an officer involved shooting by freemont police. police were tracking two auto burglary suspects at the mall and called police when they believed the men were getting ready to break into another car. the suspects then used their car to ram the freemont detectives car. detectives shot the suspects after one of them pointed a gun. one suspect is arrested one

escaped after several hours of searching. the dog picked up on a scent and tracked the suspect into the railroad tracks a couple hundred yards where we found the items of clothing discarded. >> both suspects are still in the hospital, but will eventually be transferred to jail in dublin. no officers were hurt. now, to that deadly bridge collapse at florida international university in miami, we're learning about new fatalities this morning, as well as the reason why the state is now questioning the school. maggie ruly is live in miami with the latest developments for us. maggie? >> kristen, now in the daylight, can you see more of the full extent of this damage, and also rescue crews working right now, bringing in heavy equipment trying to clean up all of this concrete. but also get to the cars that are still trapped underneath. authorities are saying they're

not only going to find out what went wrong, but also hold someone accountable. >> we have a report that several people are injured at this time. >> victims are now reliving these horrifying moments, this nearly 1,000 ton bridge came crashing down. >> he heard the crumbling and he was able to just -- he reacted. but then he didn't react fast enough. >> first responders scrambling to get to those trapped beneath the rubble. >> we had two unconscious, two conscious injured in the state of shot. >> we used auditory, we used visual, we used our canines and we've determined there's no longer any survivors, that's why we transitioned into this recovery mode. >> in the aftermath, now new questions about how the bridge was built. >> there will be a full investigation. we've got to get to the bottom of this, and we will. >> this part of the bridge was put up in a matter of hours, only days ago, using a method

called accelerated bridge construction. >> this is a bridge engineers worst nightmare. >> it's built ahead of time on the side of the road, and in a few hours it's moved into place. last night, the city of sweetwater confirmed they conducted a stress test on the bridge thursday morning. the bridge collapsed after the engineering firm ordered to have the cables tightened. >> we have not confirmed there was a stress test. they have pledged to fully cooperate with the investigation. >> authorities have now confirmed that at least one of those who died was a student here at fiu. the ntsb is on the scene investigating. >> maggie, thank you. it's a scene right out of the movie blockbuster, the reason these skiers and snowboarders literally had to jump to get off their ski lifts. and a history 90 years in the making, what students in oakland found after

there's more showers on the way. update on this thunderstorm, at least it was at one point in time as it heads through millipedes. when thunder roars, head indoors for about 30 minutes and let it pass. you can see there's not much behind it. >> that's where the sunshine breaks out and it destabilizes this cold atmosphere. as this slow drops down toward us, you can see, there's a whole lot of green lining up ahead of it, that's what's going to be in our forecast about the next 24 to 36 hours, here's a look from emeriville, look at all that sunshine. you can see from the distance all these towering cumulus, that will be around today and to a lesser extent tomorrow. dry and warmer for sure sunday and monday. that stronger storm coming in in the middle of next week. you see it's raining a little bit in the east bay hills, that's what you can expect. you see a dark cloud, it's going

to rain for 5, 10, maybe 15 minutes and then it will pass. you'll have sunshine once again. that's how we get rainbows, all the way up until midnight, we have a chance, it will taper a little bit after the sun sets. you can still see some yellow tonight. there may be a downpour or two, a little cooler, mid to upper 30s there, while we're in the low to mid-40s elsewhere. here we go through time, and you can see the green on the map, it tries to taper. this computer model, i think it's a little underdone. you can see as that low approaches tomorrow morning, we'll get another widespread rund. notice it starts to taper as we head toward the 5:00 hour, and once the sunsets it's over. if you're going to the st. patrick's day parade tomorrow, know at any time it could shower. we could also see a rainbow. at the end of that rainbow maybe you find a pot of gold. we've got a one for tuesday, a

this morning a family is finally reunited with their german sheppard after a big mixup on a united flight. earlier this week, carol and her family flew from oregon to kansas city. when she went to pick up her dog, she was given a great dane instead. ergo was mistakenly flown to japan. they appeared on gma this morning. >> it feels so good to have him back. >> they said they were going to fly back first class with an attendant. >> he was supposed to come back in the cabin, for some reason united wouldn't let him fly in the cabin, they decided doing their corporate jet would be the best bet and got him there a lot faster as well. >> that's making amends. >> swindle is hoping to meet with united next week. she is considering legal action to make sure this never happens again. see that sweet dog. you know what, nothing can warm
