santa clara and san jose, and cupertino. it is chilly. alameda, and novato, temperatures colder this morning. bundle up if you are heading out. we'll hold onto the 40s throughout the morning hours. by 11:00 transitioning to the 50s and nontime, low 50s mid and upper 50s throughout the day. rain arriving on tuesday. nice and sunny tomorrow. rain looks like it is going to last through much of next week. carolyn. >> thank you. we have breaking news in pleasant hill, authorities investigating a firy car crash that happened after midnight near mercury way. this car hit a tree catching fire. someone in the burning car was unable to get out. we saw the coroner on the scene. the road was closed for hours after accident for the police

investigation. they are looking for witnesses. all lanes of eastbound interstate 80 of hercules opened after a free way shooting last night. the highway patrol closed all eastbound traffic near i-80 near willow avenue near hercules after the gunfire, happened at 9:30. the condition of the victim was fot released. chp says no one arrested and the shooting investigation is on going. the lanes reopened around 1:45 this morning. develops news in san francisco, a massive fire in the heart of north beach has been brought under control. the city's supervisor who represents the neighborhood is raising questions about the fire department's response. "abc 7 news" reporter lisa among lesion has the story. >> reporter: this was a massive fire which engulfed the building

standing at the corner of powell and columbus. the top floors are vacant and five businesses on the bottom floor. the firefighters took offensive mode and attacked the fire from the inside and had to pull out and fight the fire from above and the street. >> there was fire on the ground floor. i came under the guys on the second floor. they decided, look, the instant commander and chief said we have to pull the guys out. they pulled them out. >> one minute everybody was outside here celebrating st. patrick's day and next minute it was like donte's inferno crazyness. >> a lot of restaurants evacuated and streets boked off. firefighters stopped the fire from moving into neighboring buildings. supervisor -- >> with my own eyes, they failed to address this working-fire in a quick, efficient way and you

one community touched by tragedy reaching out to the families of victims killed of the veterans home of california. this weekend a popular wine and music event helping by raising a lot of money. a fisherman. you are looking at video from a highway patrol helicopter, they reached him yesterday morning. a wave hit the man while climbing on rocks and pulled him away from the shore line. a life guard stayed with him until they lifted the man. and then flew him to a hospital. he is in critical condition. a man just trying to do a good deed used a knife to stab his robber in the oakland hills. oakland police say it happened on skyline boulevard. a couple from texas saw a car crashed into the a tree and stopped to help. a man from the wrecked car pulled out a shotgun. and the victims stabbed the suspect with a pocket knife. you can hear the suspect moaning as police spoke to their

dispatchers. >> -- the guy who got stabbed, shot at the victim and i guess one of the victims stabbed him. >> the suspect is from new wark. will be booked into jail when we leased from the hospital. a group of east oakland residents fed up with illegal dumping and unsanitary conditions in their neighborhood took part in a trash tour this weekend. the east oakland neighborhood said they wanted to highlight the differences in street conditions and garbage and the city's flat land neighborhoods compared to the affluent districts in the hills. >> it is not fair that the hills not have a lot of dumping and the flat lands has everything. not only dumping -- >> we are all taxpayers and deserve a service from the city of okay tloond have a clean safe

good morning north bay. let's get up and get going. >> this is abc 7 mornings. welcome back. we are starting this half hour with a look at the weather with our meteorologist lisa argen. >> good morning, it is certainly a chilly start. we're looking at fog in our north and east bay and temperatures in the 30s. so bundle up, in fact, we're being looing at numbers from this panel in the mid 30s from napa to in novato and fairfield. the clouds increasing and looking for temperatures milder. rain invading the bay area for the week ahead. how much rain we're going to get and how long it sticks around. >> thank you. russian president seeking a

"abc 7 news" reporter, linda lopez tells us more. >> reporter: succeeded in removing cars at the collapse in miami. >> a total of five people recovered from under the bridge. there was one individual that passed, away at the hospital for a total of six people. and i believe that is the final count. >> reporter: damaged cars taken to the medical examiners office where the bodies are removed and identified. a stunning voice mail released by the florida department of transportation left two days before the collapse. by the lead engineer from one of the companies reported to have built the bridge. >> from a safety perspective, we don't see an issue there. we are not concerned. >> the florida department of transportation saying that the employee didn't hear the voice mail until friday. a new statement from the university said it met with bridge engineers and fdot

thursday morning discussed the cracks. concluding there were no safety concerns and the crack did not compromise the integrity of the bridge. construction workers were tightening the cables on the bridge at the time of the collapse. linda lopez, "abc 7 news," new york. got real for a couple of teenagers when a man attacked them with a tire iron denied control over control over a virtual gym. the three playing pokémon go and the 60-year-old man got a tire iron and started swinging it at the kids and hit and damaged this table. the kids tackled him and called police. it's not first time. >> people told us he has been doing this before and we were the first to stop him. >> we didn't expect to get out

several system that is merge over the state. begin really on tuesday. so another vantage point this morning. a shot of the pretty fog and the sun coming up at 7:16. 46, 28, and 39 in san jose, mid 30s in gill more -- and looking at a dry start in the city. so fog not an issue but north of the golden gate it is and 33 in napa, 34 by the delta with wid 30s in plifr more and 39 in concord. 24 hour difference and the temperatures colder air as the skies have parted and some parts of the bay allowing for the numbers to drop. six degrees cooler in concord and seven degrees cooler in nap pennsylvania in the south bay and east bay. so our forecast highlights are cold and foggy start.

sisters now. >> they had the transplants in january on the same day. eden needed a liver and mariah a new heart. they can't say for sure the organs are from the same donor, but they are certain that they are now forever linked. >> we feel like we are carrying on the life of another child through our kids. it is just something special that we share. >> reporter: it is not just the kids. the moms say they are like sisters now too. >> we instantly had a connection. it is crazy because i said things happen for a reason. >> reporter: they didn't figure out the connection right away. took time. nearly a month spent at the ronald mccdonald at stanford. the house offers basic meals and shelter. and something intangible. >> the emotional part.
