are looking at low 50s by noontime. we'll call it a bit milder today with upper 50s around the bay. rain arrives through the last day of winter. details in a few minutes. >> thank you. >> we have breaking news from the east bay this morning where the sheriffs officer is investigating a homicide in cher cherryland. they say a man was shot an killed between mad doks road and blossom way. it happened at 3:00 this morning. investigators are still on the scene processing evidence. traffic is impacted in the area because the street has been closed. details toen -- mote i

-- mote ifr haive have not bee released. >> this car hit a tree and car fire. it appears some one in the burning car was not able to get out. the coroner was on the scene. the road was closed for hours for the police investigation. they are also looking for witnesses. all lanes of eastbound interstate 80 reopened after a freeway shooting last night. the highway patrol closed all eastbound traffic after the gunfire which happened at 9:30. one person was injured. the condition of that victim has not been released. the chp says no one has been arrested. the shooting investigation is ongoing. the lanes reopened at 1:45 this morning. >> developing news in san francisco where a firefighter has been injured monitoring the scene of a major blaze. the firefighter fell from an a ladder about an hour ago but

will be okay. the fire displaced eight people. a city supervisor criticism. lisa has this story. >> reporter: this was a massive fire which engulfed the building near howell and columbus. the top floors are vacant apartments and five businesses on the bottom floor. firefighters first took an offici offense ifr mode. >> there was fire on the ground floor. they came through the stairs. when they decided that look, the kmapd are said we have to pull these guys out they started to pull them out. >> one minute everybody was out here celebrating and next minute it was an inferno.

with the man until a coast guard lifted him to the pacific. the highway patrol flew him and he is in critical condition. a man trying to do a good deed had to use a knife to stab his would-be robber in the oakland hills. it happened around 1:30 yesterday morning. a couple saw that a car crashed into a tree and they stopped to help. instead a man tried to rob the good samaritans. the victim stabbed the suspect after the two men got into a fight. listen and you could hear the suspect moaning as police spoke to their >> police say the suspect is

from newark. a group of east oakland residents fed up with illegal dumping and unsanitary conditions in their neighborhood took part in a trash tour this weekend. the east oak lands congress said they wanted to highlight the differences in street conditions and garbage in the cities flat land neighborhoods compared the affluent districts in the hills. >> it has everything. it is effecting our lives. >> we deserve a service to have a clean safe city. >> the group said it planned to stop outside the mayor's home to make it clear they expect her to remedy the plaguing their

streets. thousands marched to witness the city's 167th annual st. patrick's day parade. they tell us it is the largest celebration of irish culture west of the mississippi river. this morning the bay area has a few more bald people than it did yesterday. several folks had their heads shaved for a good cause. we were in oakland yesterday when you recollect csf chrns hspital hosted its annual saint baldrick's fundraiser. many get sponsored and all of the money goes to help fight childhood cancers. >> i lost my mother to cancer and one of my great friends has cancer. i want to fight the fight. >> i think it's a way for the community to come together and

snow. chilly and foggy to start. sunny and milder tomorrow. the heaviest rain into southern california. let's talk about tomorrow. the sunniest and mildest day and maybe even about 70 for your monday afternoon. tuesday temperatures drop rns increase. southerly winds very windy and with here i have downpours in the making for a pretty wile day -- wild day on wednesday. here is tuesday. the rain movers in wednesday morning. you can see the trajectory. we call it an atmospheric two of them merge and it sets up a very wet week. by the end of the week things get a little more scattered. it is a preliminary estimate through next saturday. you can see from about three quarters of an inch through

hi everyone. we are going to see these throughout the day. here is a look it's still cool l out there. mid-40s mountain view, san jose and oakland. from our east bay it has been where it is still in the mid-30s, upper 30s for santa row say. napa at 40 degrees. next hour or so we are still in the 40s. by 2:00 the numbers will be in the mid-to upper 50s with a few sunny breaks. a mild other day, a dry day. 7:00 we are in the low 50s. sunsets at 7:19. we are expecting a beautiful day tomorrow. the last day of winter. spring arrives on wednesday and look what it's bringing with it, plenty of rain. we'll fine tune to detaildetail

it is a massive fire in the north beach neighborhood. firefighters are still on the scene of what was a four alarm firearm. the fire engulfed that buildig. they are being cared for right now by the red cross. this morning one firefighter fell from a ladder while watching for flare ups. he is going to be okay. the fire departmen cause of the fire has not yet been determined. it is still under investigation. we'll bring you more information on our abc 7 news app. you can download it today and enable push alerts for updates. >> it is election day in russia. the results are on a the reelection at united

we have the highlights coming up in sports. with pg&e in the sierras. and i'm an arborist since the onset of the drought, more than 129 million trees have died in california. pg&e prunes and removes over a million trees every year to ensure that hazardous trees can't impact power lines. and since the onset of the drought we've doubled our efforts. i grew up in the forests out in this area and honestly it's heartbreaking to see all these trees dying. what guides me is ensuring that the public is going to be safer and that these forests can be sustained

some temperatures approaching 70 degrees. by tuesday the rain arrives. it will last throughout the weekend. numbers around the bay from the upper 60s. how about 62 in half-moon bay. high pressure builds in temporarily. by tuesday widespread light rain arrives. the temperatures drop. as a stronger system arrives on wednesday with rain and wind they will offer temperatures to ramp up again. it could mean rain in the sierra nevada. notice the plume of moisture in southern california. we'll miss the big onslaught from this system as it hits south of the bay area. another system moving in. the systems merging together by midweek. by the end of the week we'll have a few weaker systems from the north allowing for scattered showers to continue into about saturday. highs today 56 in the city and 59 in concord. looking at the clouds today
