no delays, northbound 280 between highway 1 in san francisco, in the green at ten minutes. a huge investigation happening right now after a fourth bombing in austin, texas, in the last month. two people were hurt and parts of the city are on lockdown right now. i wanted to give you a quick update on what i'm seeing. the austin mayor spoke out moments ago to the abc station in austin, saying horrific events like this are surreal because austin is a safe city. i want to find out who did this and we are going to stop them. mayor says the city has resource toss field all the calls that are coming in on this. police think the latest bombing was triggered by a trip wire. police and city officials are now asking anyone with information on these bombings to come forward, offering a reward this morning of $115,000. thank you, jessica. the community will come together tonight to remember these three women. the victims of the shooting at

the yountville veterans home. >> the service is called a celebration of life. all three were dedicated to helping veterans heal. reporter amy hollyfield is live in yountville. amy? >> reporter: hi, good morning. they will be remembered here on the campus where they worked. jennifer gonzalez schuss reba, jennifer golick and christina loeber. they're described as special people who touched a lot of lives. they were killed by a veteran, patient who also killed himself. >> once again, completely innocent people just there to do their jobs. really good people. they had their lives cut short by a man who was obviously having his demons and obviously had access to a powerful weapon. >> reporter: lincoln theater here at the veterans home holds 1200 people. overflow seating will be available. they're also going to provide remote viewing stations in yountville for those who want to

see the service. at least two of the families of the victims do plan to attend. reporting live in yountville, amy hollyfield, abc 7 news. the memorial will be held at the napa valley performing arts center. it is open to the public. we'll have live coverage at 6:00 p.m. on abc 7. we have another memorial to tell you about. ryan zirkle will be held this friday this friday. the 24-year-old zirkle a graduate of san marin high school who lived in petaluma, he died last thursday when his cruiser went off highway 1 and crashed into a tree. he was responding to an emergency call. chp making an appeal for help in a possible road rage incident near hercules that left a woman and child hurt. >> reporter lilian kim has the story. all eastbound lanes of interstate 80 shut down at 9:00 p.m. on saturday as officers investigated a shooting. a woman suffered moderate injuries. a young girl, 5 to 6-year-old

who vanished while ski not guilty the sierra. the search teams say a heat sensor helicopter is ex packeted to launch over the area tonight to look for tom mularkey. he never returned to his cab inafter skiing. he's described as an avid outdoors man and advanced skier. stormy weather hampered their search efforts. president trump will unveil his fight for opioid drug addiction today, including the death penalty for high volume drug dealers. the president is scheduled to announce the plan in new hampshire. his three-part initiative includes multiple steps to raise awareness, cut the illicit drug flow and expand treatment options. it's expected to give an option to prosecutors to seek the death penalty for those dealers directly responsible for an opioid death. an overseas data company tied to president trump's campaign, accused of mishandling the information of more than 50 million americans. the company is cambridge

san francisco city leaders will reveal their plan to fund the seawall. they need to combat rising sea levels and withstand big earthquakes. the entire project is expected to cost $5 billion. this morning, city leaders will announce a bill to cover part of that cost. they say it would give the state a way to contribute to the seawall earthquake safety program and generate $250 million. 5:09 now. we're learning high level political talks took place this weekend in san francisco. national security adviser h.r. mcmaster met with his south korean and japanese counterparts in the city. the conversation focused on upcoming summits with north korea and dealing with the country's nuclear ambitions. president trump accepted an offer to meet with kim jong-un. there's been no official response. what's happening today that's expected to impact how much you pay to watch tv online. a couple at the center of a bizarre kidnapping that police

thursday, friday and saturday morning. before no rain again on sunday. an active day. i'll map it out on the seven-day forecast, next. here's reggie. >> we're hearing from the woman accused of a kidnapping hoax in vallejo. she was kidnapped from her boyfriend's bed. her boyfriend, now fiance, aaron quinn, reported it to police. when she was found alive in huntington beach two days later, authorities called the entire thing a hoax. huskins says matthew muller, bound, drugged and separated the couple. he kidnapped and raped her. huskins spoke to abc 7 news amy robach. she hopes to survive by appealing to muller's sense of humanity. she told a story from her childhood and that worked. >> when he opened the car door, this is it. either i'm going to hear a gunshot and that's it or get

pushed off a cliff. he was guiding me. i thought i was walking to my death. and then i heard a door close behind me. and i pulled off the blindfold. i thought, oh, god, he is going to release me. >> police eventually arrested muller. he pleaded guilty in huskins' kidnapping and was sentenced to 40 years in prison last year. the couple reached a settlement with vallejo police last week. you can learn more about their struggle, getting law enforcement to apologize at 7:00 on "good morning america." in the first look, the married father accused of taking a 16-year-old to mexico is due in court today. here's erielle reshef. >> kevin esterly is behind bars, arrested after fleeing to mexico with a 16-year-old best friend of his eldest daughter. international law enforcement finding the 45-year-old with

high school student amy yu in this apartment complex outside of playa del carmen saturday morning. esterly hauled off in handcuffs. amy reunited with her mom in pennsylvania. authorities telling abc news she is unharmed and in good health. esterly's arrest comes after a cross border manhunt. authorities say on march 5th, he withdrew 4,000 from his wife's bank account. police believe amy flew willingly from philadelphia through dallas to mexico. and coming up at 7:00 a.m., we'll have the latest on the investigation with your gma first look, i'm erielle reshef, abc news, new york. it's 5:15. new details about what life is like for the southern california siblings rescued from that so-called house of horrors. in an exclusive interview with abc news, the attorney for the seven adult siblings says that they got a first taste of freedom last week. they were released from a

medical center in riverside county and living in an undisclosed rural home and reunited with their family dog. their parents systematically imprisoned and starved their children. the parents deny the accusation. the younger six kids have been placed in other homes. we have new details on the parkland investigation. they wanted to have nikolas cruz forcibly committed for a psychiatric evaluation. cruz indicated he want to harm others and himself and he even admitted to drinking gasoline. if cruz had been committed, it wofsh more difficult, if not impossible for him to obtain a gun legally. one of the people making that recommendation was a sheriff's deputy accused of doing nothing when that shooting happened at marjory stoneman douglas high school. the way christian center took part in discussing policies and courses of action

communities should be taking. among the ideas floated were offering more places in schools for children to open up about problems they're dealing with outside of the classroom. new york mayor bill de blasio is pay be tribute to a 9/11 -- his heroism saved hundreds of lives of the he will never -- we will never forget his service and sacrifice. he was a ferry captain at the time of the attack and ferried people. he became a firefighter a few years later at 45-year-old. he's one of thousands of cancer victims linked to the september 11th attack. the start of the trial that could shape how much you pay for streaming television and movies. at&t trying to merge with time warner for $85 billion. the justice department is suing to try to stop that from happening. at&t says it needs to merge to have a chance against mega companies like google, amazon and netflix. the government says if that merger happens, you will end up

paying more to stream. san francisco estimates it will collect $7.5 million from the soda tax this fiscal year and now we're learning where that money will be spent. the examiner reports the tax may benefit programs in san francisco public schools and nonprofits that serve low-income communities of color. a city advisory committee released the recommendations friday. voters approved the soda tax in 2016. it's meant to discourage people from drinking soda which can cause diabetes and heart disease. 5:18 now. never more than seven minutes away from your accuweather forecast. we should relish and enjoy today. we have great weather. >> i really think so. if you run on sunshine, today is your day to get recharged. absolutely. then the rain rolls in tomorrow and it doesn't stop until possibly saturday morning. two storms, one from the south which will be the warmer and weather storm and the one from alaska will be colder. maybe throw a few thunderstorms and small hail into our

forecast. here's a look at how dry 87 in san jose. so seasonal. sun to high clouds today. that's the transition. sprinkles to light rain tonight. in the extended, waves of rain until saturday. let's jump right in. 4:00 tomorrow morning. you can see around monterey bay and southward. wet weather moving into the north bay. all of us after the 9:00 hour. you can see this wall of water coming ashore. look at this. by noon, all of us getting at least if not light rain some sprinkles, but then by the evening commute, we'll start at about 3:00, head all the way to 6:00. you can see moderate rain in there. by 11:00 it tapers back to light rain. but then it keeps going through the morning commute friday all the way up until the evening commute. i should say wednesday. let's see what it leaves. now, tomorrow, during the commute, just about everybody dry. toward the end of the commute, some of the rain will hit the peninsula, the south bay and into the north bay. the key is tomorrow's evening commute, everybody is going to be wet with already about a

tenth to a quarter of an inch of rain. by wednesday morning, look at this. we start pushing a half inch to an inch. by wednesday evening, we're pushing more than an inch from that storm system. so that's why we're looking at a 1 turning to a 2 as the heavier rain goes in wednesday evening through thursday morning. it tapers back to a 1, light on the storm impact scale for friday and lots of clouds saturday. dryer and more sunshine sunday. temperatures get back to today's level mid part of the week. alexis. >> we'll enjoy that and so far, we've had a really nice this morning. no major issues. just one minor thing popped up. this is in the downtown san francisco area. at the mission street intersection. report of a disabled vehicle blocking the right lane. chp is on the way to the scene. that area typically remains light until later in the morning. bay bridge toll plaza. not gotten official word that

northbound 280 off ramp to highway 87. several folks reported a vehicle swerving before a crash. that's blocking the two left lanes of that connector. no major delays in the area. they're sending an ambulance and chp on the way to the scene as well. also, we have the bay bridge metering lights on as of 5:23 this morning. things are stacking up through the maze. >> thanks, alexis. this is your heads-up. a big sinkhole in the posey tube in alameda means a traffic impact this week. >> one lane is closed but expected to get worse and soon. abc 7 news reporter matt keller is live for us. good morning, matt. >> reporter: good morning. we are down to one lane for people heading from alameda into the posey tube. right now, we don't have any backups. that's the good news for the morning commute. it is going to get worse later today. both lanes will be closed from 10:00 a.m. until midnight. an underground storm drain failure created a sinkhole on the oakland side of the posey tube. they won't finish repairs until

the end of the week. one lane is closed to drivers until 10:00 a.m. and then both lanes will be closed until midnight. after that, officials expect one lane to be closed through the workweek. >> being that it's all week, the big concern for me and i've heard a lot of other people saying is it's always a lot of traffic that way. now it's going to be worse. >> reporter: the posey tube is one of the main arteries off alameda. there are the park street fruitvale and high street bridges, as well as state route 61. the bay farm island bridge. of course, you can avoid the roads altogether by taking the ferry. ac transit created several detours for affected bus line. go to abc7news.com for more details on that. reporting live in alameda, matt keller, abc 7 news. now a live desk update. back to our live desk. we're tracking another bombing in austin, texas. police asking people in one neighborhood to stay in their homes until daylight there. the sun is just coming up in the

next few minutes. abc news reporter, jeff healing is there right now. >> reporter: this neighborhood in southwest austin on lockdown this morning as authorities urge people to stay inside their homes until 10:00 a.m. to give them a chance to find out if there are any other explosive devices inside this neighborhood. it was around 8:30 sunday night when the latest explosive device went off in austin. this one happening several miles from where the other three have gone off. the other explosions, two people were killed in those. two others injured in this explosion. we're told that their injuries are nonlife-threatening and should be okay. authorities say they'll have bomb sniffing dogs out here as day breaks to make sure that there are no other dangers out here. the reward stands at $115,000. jeff helding, abc news, austin. three women will -- >> the victims were mental health work eshs at a program at

the veterans home of california. dr. jennifer golick was a therapist, wife and mother to a 7-year-old daughter. dr. jennifer gonzalez was seven months pregnant. she will be remembered for her unconditional love and incredibly giving heart. christine loeber dedicated her life to helping veterans heal. this evening's memorial will be held at the napa valley performing arts center at lincoln theater. it is open to the public fl we'll have live coverage of the memorial at 6:00 p.m. on abc 7. a san francisco supervisor is demanding an independent investigation of the fire department's response to a massive building fire. flames ripped through the upper floors of the building on union street and columbus avenue on saturday night. drone view 7 shows you the damage left behind. smoke and water damaged the six businesses on the ground floor, including restaurants, bars and a liquor store.

aaron peskin said firefighters were slow to pour water on the fire. he was unable to reach the chief. they were concentrating on battling the flames inside the building and making sure no one was trapped before spraying water from the outside. now to a bizarre incident in oakland. the chp says a man jumped from a tree into the path of an oncoming car on a freeway. he killed himself in the process. this happened last night at 8:45. authorities found the unidentified man on the ground off eastbound interstate 580 in oakland. according to a witness, the man jumped out of a tree and directly into the path of the oncoming car. the exit was closed for about an hour. 5:35 now. the white house is trying to squash rumors that the president is considering firing special counsel robert mueller. the issue came up over the weekend when he criticized the investigation on twitter mentioning him by name. he said quote the mueller probe should have never started and

there was no collusion and no crime. congress members on both sides of the aisle responed with a warning. do not fire mueller. >> if he tried to do that, that would be the beginning of the end of his presidency because we're a rule of law nation. >> this would undoubtedly end up in a constitutional crisis. republicans need to speak out about this right now. >> the counsel replied, quote, the president is not considering or discussing the firing of the special counsel, robert mueller. >> no western leaders, including president trump have reacted so far to vladimir putin's overwhelming victory in russia's presidential election. putin got more than 76% of the vote to win another six-year term. the victory makes him the country's longest serving leader since stalin. the main opposition barred from the race. tensions between russia and the west deepened in recent weeks after the poisoning of an ex-spy. the u.k. blames it on roir.

let's take a look around the state today. you can see 72 in l.a. 68 in san diego. mid-60s through central valley. high clouds encroaching upon all of our neighborhoods. let's look at what happens with the snow. it comes in initially very wet. it's rain at first at 7:00 tomorrow. you can see 1 inch. by 7:00 wednesday evening. about 6 to lefb inches in the highest elevations. thursday -- by friday, get to 2 feet to 3 feet.

finally by saturday. that's pretty much where we end up. here's a look at the accuweather seven-day forecast. the reason being, look at the snow levels. 7500 feet wednesday. a heavy wet snow thursday. with snow showers friday and lingering into saturday. be a little easier to get up there this friday than last friday. >> thank you, mike. happening today, two developments concerning that deadly bridge collapse in florida. first of all, a moment of silence will happen today and also the first lawsuit is expected to be filed. as for the moment of silence at 1:47 local time this afternoon, the moment the bridge fell and killed six people on thursday, members of the florida international university community will gather to remember those who were lost. police believe all the victims have been recovered. but they plan to search one last time. as for the lawsuit, it will be filed on behalf of one of those injured. attorneys have not specified which victim. happening today, concord police holding the first of three presentations about the body cam program and you are invited. the purpose of the meeting to

by noon, it's over all of us. even moderate times you see yellows pop in during the afternoon hours. it keeps going overnight through wednesday morning. here's the 7:00 hour. into wednesday afternoon and into the evening hours. so once that storm door opens, once again, it's going to be quite prolific. so here we are at 9:00 tomorrow morning. the later you wait around the south bay and north bay, the more likely to drive on wet streets. none of us can get away from the wet weather on wednesday. look how the moderate rain really pushes us up all the way near a half inch to an inch by wednesday evening and then one model has the heaviest rain falling wednesday night into hursday morning. that's why we bump that up to a 2. it drops down to a 1 on friday. we'll return to sunshine eventually over the weekend. but notice the temperatures still in the 50s. enjoy today's spring break, if you will. hi alexis. >> sounds good, mike. we have a couple of issues to talk with about on the roads.

office released video of a helicopter heading to a rescue. the crew was patrolling south santa rosa when they heard a radio call to help a man who had fallen from his kayak. another kayaker helped to keep him afloat. they pulled him into the craft and was treated for hypothermia. producing own screens for its devices at a manufacturing facility in silicon valley. >> the manufacturing facility is located in santa clara. it's just a 15-minute drive from cupertino and unmarked apple offices. about 300 engineers are producing micro l.e.d. screens. the first product with a screen made by apple will be the watch. you will not see it likely for a few years. a chp chopper crew got a surprise over the weekend. >> this is nice. the golden gate division air patrol posted this video to facebook. take a look. the crew on patrol over marin county when they spotted a

there will be moderate spots from time to time. the evening commute will be the wettest. let's jump into the rain and keep on going all the way from tuesday to about saturday. look at all that green out there. if this comes to fruition, we're going to get an inch or two of rain. maybe even 2.5 to 3 inches in the santa cruz mountains. mike, thank you. thieves are arm loads of stolen laptops and vacuum cleaners literally walked into the arms of police. it happened at a costco in seattle last week. this was caught on video. officers responded to reports of shoplifting in progress. they arrested a woman sitting in a car pulled up to the emergency fire doors of the store. police say that was a get away car. officers were waiting when a man and woman loaded down with stolen property kicked the doors open. the suspects tried to make a run for it. but police nabbed themment they had been spotted shoplifting from that same store before.
