taken. >> but let's begin with abc 7 news reporter vic lee, live at the scene. >> reporter: we're at geneva and gloria streets in the amazon crocker neighborhood. they just opened the streets where the shooting occurred. the san francisco police public information office will only confirm that an officer has been hit and he's been taken to san francisco general hospital. we have some video from sky 7 to show you, also some new video from the ground. let's go to that now. we are learning, however, from numerous reliable sources that the shooting occurred at or around amazon barbershop. the officer was shot in the leg. our sources tell us that he is conscious and breathing at san francisco general hospital. their words. now, the suspect, we are told, is also in surgery. we do not know the extent of his wounds, however. our sources tell us two other

people, and one may be a juvenile, were also hit in the barbershop, possibly during the exchange of gunfire. they are also at san francisco general. so the total of four people that we know of at san francisco general being treated for gunshot wounds. the one thing we do not know at this moment is what caused the shooting, what motivated the shooting. there was a report earlier of a man with a gun here in the amazon crocker neighborhood and possibly something escalated from that. we're waiting now for the public information officer to come to the command post, which is directly ahead of me, to give us more information. but so far, all that the san francisco police department will confirm is that an officer was shot and he was taken to san francisco general hospital. our sources tell us that he was shot in the leg and that he is, quote, conscious and breathing, unquote. that's the very latest here at

crocker amazon. vic lee, abc 7 news. >> let's hope that is the case, vic, thank you so much. sky 7 is still live over the scene. this is a major transfer point for san francisco's muni, as you may know. you may expect delays on muni's 54 and 88 lines this evening. >> let's continue our live team coverage with abc 7 news reporter melanie woodrow at the hospital were the injured parties were taken. >> reporter: hospital officials have come outside to talk to members of the media a couple of times now, not sharing much information. they say they are waiting for the chief. they have said the san francisco police officer who was shod has non-life-threatening injuries. that echoes what you heard from my colleague vic lee. we have some video to show of a number of officers we've seen

here at san francisco general hospital. we saw ambulances coming here to the hospital, and even after the officer was brought here, those hospital officials telling us that there were other victims. and at least one other victim that a short time ago they were still waiting for that individual to arrive here at san francisco general hospital. we're still waiting for quite a bit of information including the exact number of victims, their conditions, and of course, more information about that san francisco police officer, where that officer may have been shot. we can say with great certainty, according to hospital officials, that that san francisco police officer has non-life-threatening injuries. you may be able to see there is a podium set up here behind me. several members of the media are waiting for a press conference and more information. as soon as we have that, we'll bring it to you. live outside of san francisco general hospital, melanie woodrow, abc 7 news. >> melanie, thank you. sky 7 is over the area of

tam. our current storm, which continues this weaning, ranks 1 on the storm impact scale. it will continue to produce light, spotty showers, slight chance of thunder, southerly wind, 15, 30 miles per hour going into the evening hours. temps will be relatively mild. later in the evening, the second storm comes in, ranking 2 on the storm impact scale. wind gusting 40 to 45 miles per hour at times early tomorrow morning and into the afternoon hours. i'm give you a closer look a little bit later. >> spencer, thanks very much. now to the latest developments with facebook. the social media giant saw its stock price recover a little in trading today after two days of turmoil caused by its data breach and silence from its ceo. that changed today with a

lengthy blog post in which mark zuckerberg admitted mistakes were made. he also pledged that steps will be taken now going forward to prevent data from being used without people's knowledge. still, both zuckerberg's leadership and whatever trust there was between facebook and its billions of users remains to be tested. abc 7 news reporter david louie looks at what's next. >> reporter: the crisis was growing by the hour. but for two days, facebook's founder and ceo mark zuckerberg was silent. >> as a leader you need to say early on, this is what we're doing, this is what we mean and this is what we want to accomplish. and people will trust leadership that's proactive that way. >> reporter: instead, the silence led to a growing chorus of criticism by facebook users who expressed dismay and even anger that data was shared without their knowledge and in the hands of operatives overseas working on the trump presidential campaign. the stock price tumbled, leading to the shareholder lawsuit filed in san francisco, and an effort

to put a consumer privacy act on the ballot this september gained traction. >> if facebook does the right thing, they'll see this as a way forward that gives them tools that the customers are frankly clamoring for. >> reporter: facebook itself noted three months ago that improper access to or disclosure of our data or user data could harm our reputation and adversely affect our business and cause us to incur expense and liability or result in consent decrees. matt cabot is a crisis management expert at san jose state. >> trust is hard to win and easy to lose. he needs to make sure whatever he's saying at this point is backed up by meaningful action. >> reporter: lawmakers in washington have yet to lay out what if anything they plan to do about the data breach. zuckerberg's fate as ceo may be tested by facebook users. >> if he doesn't create trust,

that will reduce the usefulness of facebook, reduce the number of people who want to use it at all. that's something the board will be very concerned with. >> reporter: david louie, abc 7 news. with information from tens of millions of facebook users potentially being misused, you may be wondering what this means to you. if facebook finds developers have misused your information, you will be notified. when you sign into an app, developers will now only be able to access basic information like your name, profile, picture, and e-mail. soon, a tool will show up at the top of your news feed, outlining the apps you've used and how to revoke permission to use your data. a security scare in the oakland unified school district today. one of its high schools was briefly locked down what student was discovered with a loaded gun. abc 7 news anchor eric thomas has the story. >> reporter: annette came to pick up her 17-year-old niece,

hours after getting a frightening phone call. >> there was a gun and they want us to inform parents and let us know. >> reporter: a food service manager was inside serving breakfast. >> when police came on the campus with a million guns out. >> reporter: the school spokesman says a student was sent to the office on an unrelated matter with administrators and a school resource officer. >> the student starts acting somewhat suspiciously. the police officer asks if the student has any weapons. and apparently somehow figured out that there indeed was a weapon on this student's person. >> reporter: a loaded gun was found in the student's waistband. the officer called for backup. that's when oakland police arrived with their guns drawn. students were between classes and saw what happened. >> i was running, telling kids to stay inside. they wouldn't listen. i had to scream a lot. >> i was scared because that happened not too long ago with the 17 kids that got killed. >> reporter: of course she's talking about the school shooting in parkland, florida.

back to our breaking news in san francisco, a police officer, a suspect, shot. we have just learned four other people have been shot as well. it all happened at amazon barbershop at geneva avenue on london street. >> the amazon crocker district, it's one block from mission street. the officer was shot in the leg and the injury is not life-threatening. the suspect's conditions and that of the other two victims is not known at this moment.

new look of video of an officer crawling towards a police car. a witness tells us officer that was shot. that officer is at sf general right now. as we mentioned, his injury to the leg is not considered life threatening, thankfully. [ sirens ] first responders rushed to the scene minutes after the report. this is video from an abc 7 news viewer of the mobile command unit and numerous police cars heading toward geneva avenue where this happened. obviously we'll stay on top of this breaking story and update you as soon as we get more information. just when you thought the dust had settled, the acting chief of i.c.e. has once again accused the mayor of oakland of putting the public in danger. he claimed last month that libby schaaf's public warning of i.c.e. actions allowed hundreds of criminal immigrants to avoid arrest. now he says several of those individuals have committed new

crimes. abc 7 news reporter laura laura anthony has more. >> reporter: the head of i.c.e. is blaming the mayor of oakland from the continuing fallout he claims came from libby schaaf's warning of i.c.e. actions in the area. >> since our operation in san francisco and oakland, three of the people we couldn't locate have since reoffended. one person i just talked about was just arrested for robbery and multiple weapons violations. >> reporter: i.c.e. claims a second man was arrested for dui. and a third for spousal abuse. an agency spokesman in san francisco tells abc 7 news the three arrests were made outside the bay area. in sacramento and county. schaaf isn't convinced any of the reoffences had anything to do with her going public. >> if they are in fact convicted, convicted, not just

arrested, but convicted of dangerous crimes, there are procedures in place to address that. >> i'm afraid this is an embarrassment. >> reporter: the trump administration has threatened legal action against schaaf, something the mayor admits she doesn't take lightly. >> of course i'm concerned about my personal freedom. of course i'm concerned because it has never been my intent to break the law. >> reporter: so far schaaf says she has no knowledge of any justice department investigation into her actions. in oakland, laura anthony, abc 7 news. let's go back on storm watch. here are live looks at the golden gate bridge, the san mateo bridge, and highway 101 in san jose. pretty much dry roads right there across the bay area. and moving along as you would expect at this time of day. abc 7 news reporter katie utehs found plenty of wet roads in the south bay today. >> reporter: the santa cruz mountains are soggy, facing more rain. some roads are still in

disrepair from last year's storms. >> it's kind of like the only one in and out if you come up highway 9. people up here are kind of nervous about that. >> reporter: so far no new washouts. but plenty of rain-related crashes on highway 17. firefighters examined this woman after her car became wedged under a guardrail in a spinout north of los gatos. chp san jose says they've received 40 calls for collisions since midnight. >> the majority have been property damage collisions. just two-vehicle kind of rear end fender benders. >> reporter: terrible visiting and fallen trees create hazardous conditions for drivers. >> the initial reaction is to slam the brakes and turn the wheel as you feel the vehicle start to lose control. that's the worst thing to do, it will put you in a collision every time. >> reporter: he says let off the

gas and hold your steering wheel steady until you regain traction. soggy conditions are not slowing people in boulder creek. >> it's great. good for the drought. we're happy to have the rain. >> reporter: the santa clara valley water district reports the reservoirs are still below average, only 33% capacity as of today. the rain is not enough to celebrate. that is, unless you're visiting from the east coast. >> so it's beautiful out here in non-sunny california. we like it. >> reporter: because she still has snow in her virginia yard. katie utehs, abc 7 news. >> what is going on with that deer there? >> i know, right? spencer christian is here in case you're wondering what's going on with our forecast. >> strange. there's a lot going on, and it will continue for a while. live doppler 7 shows a relatively quiet period of weather right now. we can see areas of rainfall forming offshore and preparing to move onshore.

we have more showers coming our way tonight. the view from our emeryville camera, looking at a cloudy sky. 63 degrees in san francisco and oakland. mid-60s at mountain view and san jose. gilroy, 63. 57 at half moon bay. the view from our rooftop camera here at abc 7 showing the embarcadero. mid- to upper 60s at fairfield, concord and livermore. the view from the east bay hills camera looking once again at the western sky. you can see clouds at various levels atmosphere right now. it will be rainy and windy for the morning commute tomorrow. colder with showers on friday and saturday. and there's a possibility of snow in the highest bay area peaks. if the moisture holds on as the cold air comes in. current storm ranks 1 on the storm impact scale, producing spotty showers, slight chances of thunder this evening. southerly wind 15 to 30 miles per hour. overnight lows relatively mild, in the 50s. windy and rainy overnight.

the storm intensifies to a level 2 on the storm impact scale that will arrive overnight into tomorrow morning, bringing rain, heavy at times. a stronger possibility tomorrow of thunderstorms with wind gusting 30 to 45 miles per hour. forecast animation starting at 1:00 a.m., it will already be raining over parts of the south bay and the east bay. a wave from the northwest sweeping in during the morning commute and producing widespread areas of moderate rain, and in addition, some pockets of heavy rainfall along with a strong, gusty wind which will sweep the rain through. by midday into the early afternoon, we'll see the rain winding down or tapering off to widely scattered showers. we'll get some slight clearing in the late afternoon or early evening hours tomorrow. by 11:00 tomorrow night, rainfall totals ranging from a ha 1/2 inch to 3/4 inch. isolated storms in the east and south bay could produce small hail stones.

highs in the upper 50s to near 60 typically. over in the sierra, a winter storm warning in effect, above 6,500 feet. snowfall totals will range up to two feet at donner and 4 1/2 feet at kirkwood. some locations are get a nice dose of snowfall. here is the accuweather seven-day forecast. once again, tomorrow's storm ranks 2 on the storm impact scale. a symptom of moderate intensity. we'll see light rain, breezy conditions on friday. storm ranking 1. also on saturday and sunday, storm conditions will rank only 1 on the impact scale. finally, as the rain winds down late sunday, we get clearing and drying out on monday and much milder, more spring-like weather tuesday and wednesday with high temperatures feeling kind of toasty compared to what we have now. >> nice to see the rain. >> we need it badly, we really do. and the sierra needs the snowpack. >> thanks, spencer. ahead, video of that deadly crash involving a self-driving uber car. >> see what the

police say the vehicle was in autonomous mode but there was also a driver inside. >> here is video from inside the vehicle. police say it's clear the crash would have been difficult to avoid even if the vehicle was not in autonomous mode because the woman just sort of appeared out of nowhere. uber has suspended testing on its self-driving vehicles including ones in san francisco because of this. the company says it's helping authorities in any way it can. within hours, a stronger storm will roll through the bay area. but an atmospheric river is already drenching the central and southern california coast. >> see what it's doing to santa barbara, still in recovery from the deadly wildfires. and for the first time, mark zuckerberg answers tough questions. also ahead, the latest information on today's breaking news, the shooting of a police officer and others in san francisco.

more information now to the breaking news story we've been on top of for the last 90 minutes. a san francisco police officer and five other people shot in

the city's crocker amazon neighborhood. >> sky 7 is live over the scene at geneva avenue and london street, one block from mission street. here is the police call that was put out just after 4:30 this afternoon. listen. >> officer down. 949, officer down, barbershop. 406, officer down, barbershop. two victims hit. >> suspect is down, the suspect is down and the barbershop clear. >> police tell us the officer was shot in the leg and is expected to survive. a suspect was also shot as well as four other people at the barbershop. we don't know their conditions. several major muni lines that go through this area, including the 8 and 14 buses, are being rerouted and are seeing delays as a result. that's a very busy area in the city, as you probably know, especially for muni. right now let's get back to storm watch. the storm that's going to bring steady rain to the bay area is

already drenching southern california. >> as you can see in live doppler 7 images, they have more to worry about than we do, actually. the major concern is santa barbara, where mudslides killed people just a few months ago. >> the city and infrastructure are still under repair. >> sid garcia from our sister station in los angeles spoke to people today who are optimistic about weathering the storm. >> reporter: the rain was either heavy or moderate.n't let up foe day. >> so far, so good. keeping my fingers crossed. it's a mixed blessing. we need the rain so bad lay but i don't want any mudslides. >> reporter: folks who live in the burn areas hope this is as bad as it gets. public works crews have done all they can to clear out creation and catch basins. officials here in santa barbara county warn there's still a major threat of mud and debris flows with this storm. >> there's still a potential for the debris flow. the soil isn't holding the water. we saw that happen on january 9th, there was just nothing to

hold the water. so that's the problem. if we have a big amount of rain coming down in a short period of time, we're going to get essentially a flash flood. >> reporter: january 9th, 21 people were killed when mudslides devastated this coastal community. mandatory evacuation orders remain in effect for the burn areas. and first responders are strongly urging everyone to stay away from the creation and catch basins. >> we're watching the creation right now, checking them with other first responders, checking the flow, to see if there's any debris coming in that we will alert others to. >> reporter: fingers are crossed that the rainfall won't cause any more damage to this area. >> i look at the evacuation map every time this happens. fortunately i'm in a safe zone but i'm very close to it. these poor folks are out of their house all the time now. it's just worse. >> reporter: all of the rain that's fallen here, this is the end result, with this creek flowing through here to a catch basin. there are a few other creation

developers' data access and an easier way to let you revoke permissions to your data. he admits he did it. that's what austin's police chief is saying tonight about a man suspected of a series of explosions who is now dead. a 25-minute video on his phone confessing to the crime, saying he was facing personal challenges. investigators say terrorism was not a motive. conditt blew himself up last night as police closed in on him. his family's neighbors say they're in shock. >> i'm not sure i still believe it. you know, it just doesn't -- it makes no sense to me whatsoever. he and his family are as normal as i've seen anybody. >> five bombings since march 2nd left two people dead and several others injured. investigators are warning conditt may have planted more undetonated bombs. federal investigators confirmed workers were adjusting tension rods on a pedestrian bridge in miami when it collapsed last week.

the work was being done on a newly installed portion of the bridge. the pedestrian walkway at florida international university crashed onto a highway below, killing six people and injuring others. san francisco's center was supposed to be ready now. construction delays have maplagd the $2.2 billion bus terminal. construction is expected to be completed in june but there are finishing touches to be made and some bus drivers have to be trained on getting in and out of the center. a pay package worth up to $50 billion leads tonight's bay area business watch. that's how many money tesla's ceo elon musk could be making over the next decade, $50 billion. tesla shareholders approved the plan this morning, which is contingent on musk meeting some very ambitious goals and receiving stock as a reward. tesla has yet to turn a full year net profit even though it's been in business for 15 years. staff at san francisco

we'll be ready for that when it comes. >> i'm ready now. >> let's return now to the breaking news we've been following for the last couple of hours. and that is an officer involved shooting in san francisco in the crocker amazon neighborhood. one officer shot in the leg, a suspect shot as well, and two others. there you see on the left the police chief walking up to the podium. >> chief william scott is walking up. he's expected to give us an update. again, this is in front of sf general where the officer, we're told, shot in the leg, is being treated. so let's go ahead and listen to what he has to say, hopefully an update on the officer's condition. we're told it is non-life-threatening. we hope that will be the case. >> good evening, everyone. i have with me the san francisco police commissioner. to me wiright is the chief of t fire department.

we have a sergeant from the police officers association. behind me is a representative of san francisco general hospital. we're surrounded by san francisco police command staff and fire department command staff. we want to give you a brief statement about the officer involved shooting that occurred today. mr. andrews will give you a brief statement regarding the victims that were brought in as a result of this incident. on march 21st, 2018, at approximately 4:30 p.m., san francisco police officers responded to the 200 block of amazon regarding a man with a gun. the investigation led officers to a business on the corner of geneva and london. officers made contact with several individuals inside the business and shots were exchanged. one officer and five others including the suspect were struck by gunfire and transported to the hospital. this is an active and ongoing investigation and it's in its early stages. investigations are being conducted by the san francisco

police department's homicide detail, san francisco district attorney's office independent investigations bureau, the department of police accountability, and the san francisco police department internal affairs division. we're asking anyone with information related to this incident to call the san francisco police department's 24-hour tip line at 415-575-4444 or text a tip to tip411 and begin the text message with "sfpd." you may remain anonymous if you have information. in keep with our efforts towards transparency, the department will hold a town hall meeting within ten days. i would like to turn it over to mr. andrews for a statement on the individuals brought in. >> so as the chief mentioned, we have a total of six patients

from this incident. the officer is in fair condition. we have one patient who is a minor and we will not be commenting on that patient's condition at all at this time. of the other four victims, they are all males, between the ages of 24 and 48. we have one patient in critical condition at the present time, one in serious condition, and two in fair condition. as we have more information, we will share it. you are welcome to check back with us at any time you want an update. thank you. >> we're not taking any
