exactly what happened seconds before a self-driving uber suv hit and killed a woman in arizona. the other big story. the weather. a live view of a camera. more rain is headed for us. grab the umbrella, the rain boots, anything you can. put that in your car and drive carefully. it's been really busy this morning. >> no one is listening to that advice either. >> no. >> unfortunately. let's try to say it again and tell everybody what to expect. all joking aside, it has been a very busy morning on the road and weatherwise. let's get right to it. you're never more than seven minutes away from your accuweather forecast. the storm impact scale for the drenching rain. this morning, the thunderstorms that are possible the rest of the day and the wind gusts of 30 to 45 miles per hour. the east bay has been getting pounded, especially oakland, piedmont, moraga and lafayette to san leandro. that continues. that's not the only thing. they keep coming ashore.

walnut creek, dealing with nasty weather. upper 50s near 60. thunderstorms are introduced into the forecast. they'll continue at 4:00 when it gets cooler. by 7:00 it's over. here's alexis. >> okay, mike. i want to take you to another new crash this morning. we've got reports of one on northbound 880 in the milpitas area before you get to state route 237 merge. we have heavy traffic on to 37. i believe we still have the far right lane blocked there in the clearing stages. but we have heard it over and over this morning. solo vehicle spinout crash after solo vehicle spinout crash. that tells us folks are driving too fast. 101 and 880. you're dealing with a lot of water on the roads this morning. take it easy. take a look at several crashes in the east bay coming up in a few. our top story. this dramatic video of a san francisco officer crawling to safety after a gunman shot him in the leg. this morning, six people are hurt after the shooting in a

barbershop. the suspect is among those recovering from morning. abc 7 news reporter amy hollyfield is live at zuckerberg sf general. amy? >> reporter: witnesses say they could hear the officer crying out in pain that he had been shotment look at this cell phone video. you can see him crawling after he had been shot in the leg trying to get to safety and get away from the gunfire. others in the area describe ducking or running to try to get to safety. six people were shot, including the officer and the suspect. a juvenile was among those who were shot. it started in a barbershop on geneva avenue in the crocker amazon neighborhood at 4:30 yesterday afternoon in san francisco. police are asking people to come forward and help them piece together what happened. >> there are probably many witnesses who were out here. there are folks who may have seen this. anyone who has not yet been contacted or contacted a police officer, we'd like them to come

forward. >> reporter: two the victims are in critical condition, including the suspect. three are in stable and the officer is in fair condition. police say they need to interview witnesses. it is early in their investigation so they don't know why this happened. because this was an officer-involved shooting, police plan to hold a town hall meeting about this shooting in about within ten days. reporting live in san francisco, amy hollyfield, abc 7 news. amy, thank you. we have new developments about an incident at travis air force base in fairfield. a person has died after illegally driving on to the base and crashing late last night. officials tell us the investigation is ongoing right now. there are no current threats to anyone. we are getting our first look at the seconds before one of uber's self-driving cars hit and killed a woman in arizona. >> watch this video carefully. this is the backup driver and it appears as if the driver is not each looking at the road until the last second when that driver

see that is a woman is appearing in front of the car. here's the other view. an on board camera showing the victim, elaine hers berg walking with her bike on to the roadway. the car has sensors to detect people or cars. the sensors are designed to trigger the car's brakes. san francisco-based uber says the video is disturbing and heartbreaking to watch. our thoughts continue to be with elaine's loved ones. our cars remain grounded and we'll assist in any way we can. >> on a very related note, happening today, companies working on driverless cars will meet with san francisco city leaders to talk safety. according to the examiner, uber, lyft an waymo are among those responding to mayor mark farrell's letter. he asked 50 companies to volunteer for safety tests with the san francisco police department. this morning, we're learning more about new evidence in the

austin bombing case. police now say the bomber left behind a confession recording. mark conditt detailed the plots in a recording on his phone. he described the six bombs he built. he did not explain why he chose the vic timtims he did. >> it is the outcry of a very challenged young man talking about challenges in his personal life that led him to this point. >> conditt evaded authorities for three weeks during a bombing spree that killed two and wounded at least five. he died yesterday morning after setting off a bomb in his suv as a swat team moved in. we are devastated and broken at the news that our family member could be involved in an awful way. our prayers are for the families who lost loved ones and those impacted in any way or for the soul of our mark. we're grieving and we are in shock. the acting chief of i.c.e. is criticizing oakland mayor

libby schaaf once again. he said her warning about an immigration sweep helped hundreds of immigrants avoid arrest. now he says several of those people have committed new crimes, including robbery, dui and spousal abuse. >> sennster operation in san francisco and oakland, three of the people we couldn't locate have since reoffended. >> if they are in fact convicted, convicted. not just arrested. but convicted of dangerous crimes, there are procedures in place to address that. >> schaaf went on to say she is not convinced any of the reoffenses had anything to do with her going public. the trump administration has threatened to take legal action against her. new at 6:00, robin williams now being brought into the me too movement. the accusation against him and why the accuser says she wasn't upset about what happened. an important recall. the urgent warning to check your smoke detector this morning. you're never more than seven

you want to stay dry this morning. but you don't want anything too heavy on. 60 degrees in the south bay and just about everywhere this morning. this is as warm as it gets. heading from half moon bay towards san mateo and foster city and the sunol grade towards pleasanton, livermore and the altamont pass. here's afr look at the golden gate bridge. raining here. look at the breezes blowing as you look at the flag on the right side of your screen. rain to showers out and about today. exercising caution and heavy, heavy snow in the sierra. temperatures in the upper 50s to low 60s. tonight, upper 30s to 40s with a lot of fog. alexis. want an update on three crashes in the east bay. i'll start with the good news. westbound 580 around lakeshore avenue. second crash of the morning in that location has cleared.

pam dawber claims robin williams groped her but was unfazed. she starred for four seasons. the daily mail got quotes from an upcoming biography. she was never offended by williams' actions even though he, quote, flashed, hum pd, bumped and grabbed her onset. the late actor was playful. she didn't mind because, quote, it was the '70s, after all. the biography is authored by a new york times skbrurjournalist five men in a sexual assault case in berkeley, the east bay times says it happened at an apartment on shattuck avenue near delaware street. one of the girls called and said she was the victim of a sexual assault. they later learned that the men and girls met up to hang out at the apartment. the girls told police one of the suspects pulled a gun before the girls were sexually assaulted.

the men were arrested on a number of charges, including rape. 6:15. it's been extremely busy on the roadways. let's check in with alexis. just double checked with chp. up to 46 incidents across the bay area. some of that includes reports of flooding, but most of that is crashes. really, you got to slow down and drive for conditions today. this is 101 and 880 in san jose. traffic coming toward us there on that northbound side. we have a crash reported at ktrm balance. it's causing slow downs. emeryville, westbound 80 really heavy in the berkeley area. high-wind advisory for golden gate and dumbarton. highway 4 to the maze. you're in the yellow. another 17 across the bay bridge. san francisco to the airport, that at least looks okay. driving around here in the green at 11 minutes. hey, mike. alexis, good morning. never more than seven minutes

away from your accuweather forecast. we'll start with a soaking rain all the way to novato. novato boulevard. it keeps going down all the way to off the coast of pacifica. daly city, san francisco. the golden gate bridge. drenching rain coming to those areas. look for more puddles on 101. good news is the atmospheric river will shift east today and the threat of flooding, heavy rain will subside. we'll have thunderstorms this afternoon. here's a look at 280 at 17 where the rain lightened up a little bit. drenching rain during the morning. much colder tonight with a stray shower and a lot of fog tomorrow morning. warm sunshine. '70s next week. here's a look at 7:00 to 9:00. you can see tapering of the intensity and the coverage of the rain. here's the cold front headed to the no rt way. that's where we get the best chance of thunderstorms. out of the south bay by about 5:00 or 6:00. we'll see a little sunshine before the sunsets. overnight, it's mainly cloudy.

showers tomorrow are mainly across the north bay until we get into the afternoon and evening hours. then they slide to the south. let's talk about what's going on in the sierra as that atmospheric river shifted to the north. that's why the winter storm warning until 5:00 tomorrow morning. the snow levels are very high. 6500 to 7500 feet. we'll talk to alexis here in about 20 seconds with that accuweather -- with the tahoe -- toyota tahoe report. so one for tomorrow. a 1 saturday and a 1 on sunday. the temperatures stay in the 50s. snow level around 3500 feet. sunshine breaks out monday. back in the 70s by wednesday. see if we're driving on snow or wet pavement. >> the bay area is going to be soaked. then it switches over to snow. the base totals are looking good. squaw alpine, 67 and 135-inch

>> yeah. taking a look at the east bay, mike. where we have had so much rain here in morning. westbound 24 was the location of a crash here for about the last 45 minutes. right around acalanes road. that's just cleared. you're definitely heavy up through lafayette and into walnut creek. the residual delays will not recover at this point. just past lincoln avenue, a solo spinout crash. we got word from chp that a tree fell in that same location. cal trans on the way to the scene to get it removed. tough morning on the roads. a new motorcycle crash on the peninsula. we'll check on that next. there's rain everywhere. abc 7 news reporter matt keller. >> he's been tracking rain across the south bay. he's live in los gatos with a look at what conditions are. matt? >> reporter: good morning, reggie and jessica. the rain has been nonstop this morning. everywhere we've gone, it's been coming down and coming down harder and harder as the morning has been going on.

of course, it's making for horrible driving conditions out there. check this out. this is video that we took on highway 85 in the south bay at 6:00 this morning. very heavy downpours. the wind picked up. my photographer, ian babcock grifg on th gripping on that stheerg wheel. the santa cruz mountains are getting hit hard. this is the summit of highway 17. we saw so many crashes yesterday. the storm today is a lot more intense. expected to be a horrible commute in the silicon valley. all of that was expected. but this kind of surprised me. these two people were running in heavy downpours in los gatos after 5:45 this morning. another guy runs up on them. three people. talk about dedication. i tried to talk to them to figure out why they were doing this. no idea why. but they were way too fast for me. i know a lot of you want to pull the covers up over your head this morning.

of course, that's a great idea if you can do that. it is such a mess out there. it's going to take you so long to get to work. if you do go out, make sure you're extra careful out there. slow down. the roads are wet. like i said, the winds are really churning out there. you got to grip that wheel. you got to be careful of all the puddling and flooding on the roadways. reporting live in los gatos, matt keller, abc 7 news. thank you, matt. authorities in ventura and santa barbara counties say they're -- heavy rain could trigger flash floods and mudslides. a few minor slides caused no real damage. but look at that standing water. hundreds of homes in the area hit by wildfires are still under mandatory evacuation because of the risk of slides and flooding. montecito and santa barbara county one of those places. that's where 21 people died when rain triggered a massive debris flow in a burn area on january 9th. steady rain is expected through tomorrow. you can keep track of the storm where you live with our updated

details. stephanie? >> jessica, it was just yesterday when facebook executives were on capitol hill answering some tough questions. lawmakers want to hear directly from facebook's ceo, mark zuckerberg over its misuse of its data. facebook ceo mark zuckerberg is admitting his company messed up after 50 million americans had their user profiles exploited. allegedly by cambridge analytica, a firm hired by the trump campaign. >> so this was a major breach of trust and i'm really sorry this happened. we have a basic responsibility to protect people's data. >> the apology on cnn comes days after the story broke and more than two years after the privacy breach was learned of aimed to sway people in the 2016 presidential election. the company obtained that data from this man, alexander cogan. >> did they tell you what they were doing with the data?

>> no. i knew it was political consulting. beyond that, no idea. >> zuckerberg says facebook has taken steps to prevent this from happening again. facebook stock has dropped even more since this fallout. zuckerberg says he hasn't seen any, quote, meaningful numbers of people deleting their facebook accounts over this scandal. but those who do should know that even when you suspend your account, it will take up to 90 days for it to be fully deleted from the site. reporting live in washington, stephanie ramos, abc 7 news. stephanie, thank you. developing news now in the east bay. oakland police investigating a shooting that killed one person and injured at least two others. our media partner, the east bay times reports it happened atth and campbell streets about 8:40 last night. police initially found two victims and theb then took them to the hospital. one of the victims died. a third victim was found a few blocks away at peralta street.

police have not released any suspect information. developing news on a deadly officer-involved shooting that's getting national attention. many people want -- after an officer killed a suspect holding a cell phone, not a gun. there's new video leading up to shooting. deputies and a helicopter spotted 22-year-old stephan clark with a tool bar breaking a neighbor's window. this clip shows the moment when he climbed the fence returning to his own backyard. that's when two officers on the ground confronted him. now we're going to show you a close-up of what happened next. i need to warn you. you kpo find this clip disturbing. >> show me your hands! >> so that is the body camera footage capturing the moment officers opened fire. clark stepped toward them with an object extended in front of him. they thought it was a gun. it was actually a cell phone.

>> the san geronimo golf course in marin county may open as soon as next month.o cf1 o the marin ij says the parks department reached a tentative agreement with touchstone golf. it would be the interim operator for at least two years. county supervisors need to approve the deal. the county is in the process of raising money to purchase the golf club from the trust for public land. let's talk about what's going on outside. showing you the temperatures. 60 in lake merced. upper 50s about everywhere else in san francisco. mid to upper 50s everywhere else to 60 in tracy. that's about as warm as it gets. almost five inches of southbound 101 this is what we're looking at. alexis will tell you about the roads in a second. umbrella at least. that will keep your top half dry

if you're going to be waiting for mass transit. the wind is blowing. it may get your pants a little wet and drenched and breezy if you're not riding the ferry. it affects about 640,000 of us. a flood advisory. a lot of the streets are overrun with the rain. this goes through the end of the morning commute at 9:00 for all the areas you see shaded in green, which is pretty much the entire north bay. in fact, here's a look at the heavy rain falling. once again, mill valley, san rafael, the richmond-san rafael bridge and we've got lighter rain in the south bay. but heavier rain in the santa cruz mountains. that will continue through the morning commute. getting the kids ready for a soaking rain. showers and breezy at 11:00. the highs you see today, that's happening right now through noon. then the cold front rolls through. the temperatures drop this afternoon. can with clearing skies, look at all the fog tomorrow. temperatures up to 20 degrees cooler. upper 30s to mid 40s. i promised you would tell us

about the crummy commute. how about that? >> that's a nice word for it. >> or dangerous, if you want. seriously. >> obviously not a great morning to be on a bike. i'm not sure if that's the only mode of transportation this person had. we have a crash involving a motorcycle on northbound 280. just before you get to sierra at 92. i can't imagine being on a motorcycle. yeah. but unfortunately, that person did crash. wasn't involved with any others. probably just hydroplaned there. they are sending emergency crews to the scene. the fire department is already there. they're blocking the right lane. that's a pretty light area of traffic this time of day. no major delays. i'll keep an eye on that. it is, however, very backed up into the maze this morning. so bay bridge metering lights on at 5:21 this morning. probably on the majority of the day today. boy, westbound 580, you're jammed all the way back up to 24. certainly slow coming from the emeryville and berkeley area this morning too. walnut creek and southbound 680, this is starting to improve. we had a long-term blocking crash on westbound 24 that has

cleared. you're looking at about a 10 to 15-minute delay to get bo the oakland area. we'll take a look at drive times coming up at 6:50. >> thanks, alexis. new this morning, president trump going after former vice president joe biden in of course, a tweet. take a look at this. the president tweeted, crazy joe biden is trying to act like a tough guy. actually, he's weak both mentally and physically and yet he threatens me for the second time with physical assault. he doesn't know me but he would go down fast and hard crying all the way. don't threaten people, joe. so what is this about? it appears to be in reference to comments that joe biden made earlier this week. the former vp told a group at the university of miami that if he and president trump were in high school, he would take the president behind the gym and quote, beat the hell out of him. speaking of high school, a north bay high school could be forced to change its mascot. coming up, the decision expected today after people claimed it was offensive.

>> cell phone video captured the entire drama unfolding. amy hollyfield is live at the hospital. amy? >> reporter: hi jessica. six victims all being treated here at the hospital. two are in critical condition. in the cell phone video, you can see him crawling, trying to get to safety after he had been shot in the leg. he was trying to get away from that gunfire. this happened in a barbershop on geneva avenue in the crocker amazon neighborhood. police haven't said why the suspect started shooting. people in the area said they did what they could to escape. >> i heard the gunshots, i was trying to like, duck so i wouldn't be into anything. yeah. i know, like all the walgreens customers are, like, running behind their cars. >> reporter: the suspect is one of the people in the hospital. he was shot and is in critical condition. one of the victims is a

the grammy winner and marin county resident raised $177,000. the money going to the tipping point fire relief fund. the show was the latest in a series of concerts to help those devastated by last october's wildfires. a robotic fish could be a new type of tool for ocean exploration. it's called sophie. it was built by researchers at m.i. ti. it was swimming in the ocean alongside regular fish. it's piloted by remote control and equipped with a camera. it can dive 60 feet underwater. they hope to monitor marine animals without disturbing them. researchers hopefully to enable it to follow fish. we're going to go back to land animals now. national puppy day is happening tomorrow. we're excited about it. >> we can't wait. starting at 4:30 tomorrow morning, we'll stream the puppy cam live on abc 7. abc7news.com and our abc 7 news
