11:00 this morning. reporting live from san rafael, amy hollyfield, abc 7 news. and just in to our live desk, a rude awakening for a pleasant hill family this morning. a giant tree fell into their yard on that their cars parked on keith circle. part of the tree hit two cars. it's blocking the street. the family heard a loud crash at midnight and think the rain was part of the problem. they think that it weakened the tree's roots. no one was hurt and the pg&e lines are fine. they need a new car. they will remove the tree later today. let's get you a quick update on weather and traffic. you're never more than seven minutes away from your accuweather forecast. >> reggie, thank you. here's a look at the breezes. they're pretty calm about everywhere except for fairfield at 17. that's good news. when you look at the temperatures in the mid-30s to

mid-40s, we don't want to have to deal with a windchill outside. 44 in oakland, san francisco 46. we've got low to mid-40s down both sides of the bay and into the south bay. then you start to hit mid to upper 30s in los gatos and morgan hill. same thing in santa rosa, clear lake and napa. we'll take a look at your commute path as far as weather goes. it looks easier today. hopefully it's the same from alexis' perspective. >> we had a high-wind advisory issued by chp for several bridges around midnight, mike. as you said, that's starting to taper down. i drove across the bay bridge myself and it wasn't too bad. a little stack-up. that's the only bad spot. friday light, plus everyone got scared off yesterday it was so terrible. under half an hour tracy to dublin. dublin to mission boulevard, 14. 101 to cupertino looking great at 16 minutes.

i'm watching breaking news overnight. national news. a huge deadly fire on the set of a movie starring edward norton and a firefighter was killed. ll of this happening in new york city. look at these huge flames. this was in harlem. according to the new york fire department, the firefighter was separated from his unit and he was found unconscious. he later died at the hospital. firefighter is said to be 37-year-old firefighter michael davidson. he was a 15-year veteran of the force. the set was being used for a movie called "motherless in brooklyn." filming was not under way when the fire began. at this hour, investigators are still looking into how it started. i'll let you know when we get an update. >> thank you, jessica. outrage growing in sacramento after a police shooting of an unarmed man. >> thousands of fans couldn't get into the hawks/kings game. they locked the entrances after

protesters surrounded the arena. their outrage erupted after sacramento police released body cam footage of the shooting death of 22-year-old stephan clark. clark's girlfriend is struggling to find answers to help their children cope with their father's death. >> i wake up to my kids asking me where is daddy? let's go get daddy? i just tell them daddy is always going to be with us. >> police confronted clark after getting a call about a man breaking into cars. officers believed that clark posed a threat when they fired 20 shot. they thought he had a firearm but he was unarmed. this morning, a dam west of yosemite national park is holding steady after it teetered on the burst of -- >> it helps deliver drinking water to the bay area. janine de la vega shows us what happened. >> reporter: you're looking at video of rushing water that

flooded the california fish and wildlife trout hatchery. workers were evacuated. all that water was coming from the moccasin reservoir dam. the sheriff's department went into emergency mode because water authorities advised the dam would likely fail after heavy rains saturated the area. cal trans tweeted this photo showing state route -- because of floodwaters damaging the road. >> this dam particularly was built in 1930. >> this doctor teaches civil engineering at santa clara university. he says the majority of california's dams were built before 1970 and made of compacted earth. but singh says many of the construction records for the older dams don't exist so it's unknown how well the dirt was compact compacted. compacted. >> bring lot more runoff. the dam is stable for now. the san francisco public

utilities commission is monitoring. everything will be inspected. they were built a mile downstream. the reservoir is part of the hetch hetchy water system that brings water to several areas. our water supply was not affected. pim janine de la vega for abc 7 news. crashes on highway 17 are starting to turn to precarious levels. 800 collisions were reported last year on the windy four-lane road to los gatos. accidents dropped to less than 500 a year from 2003 to 2014. after a $250 million campaign to make highway 17 safer. officials attribute the recent rise to wet weather, excessive speeds and more aggressive driving. reminding drivers to slow counsel. averted another shutdown

after a spending bill was pass. they passed it 65-32 late last night and now heads to the white house where president trump is expected to signit. the government funding was set to expire at midnight eastern if a deal was reached. it provides big increases to military and domestic programs. the spending bill funds the government through september. the most expensive year for wildfire fighting in history. last year cost california close to $2 billion to fight them. more than 80% of that cost came from the north bay wildfires in october. the federal government will ream e. reimburse the constituent for most of 9 firefighting cost. california needs to cover about $371 million. never more than seven minutes away from your accuweather forecast. start with temperatures on the peninsula. look at the cold air in menlo park. 46. redwood city 49. san bruno at 47 degrees. from south beach, you can see a dry bay bridge this morning.

western span. your commute planner is good all around. finally dry on the roads. chilly and then cool if you're taking mass transit today and during the afternoon and evening hours. bright and breezy if you're out on the water. here's a look at the temperatures today. upper 50s to low 60s. 60s in fremont. a little cooler in the north bay. this is where the clouds will be more dominant and where you can see the green dots signifying the scattered showers. even snow down to about 3 feet in lake county. here's a look at my 12-hour planner for san francisco. a lot of sunshine and mixture of clouds starting at 47 at 8:00. by noon, 53. we'll hang out at 54 degrees until 6:00. then drop down to 52 at 8:00. for the north bay, cooler. temperatures in the upper 30s to 40s. still in the 40s at 10:00. we'll hang out in the mid-50s for the better part of the lunch-hour through 4:00. notice the scattering of showers

a woman can travel about anywhere in the world she wants to after getting a $10,000 voucher from united. she posted a picture of it on twitter. she was traveling from d.c. to texas. the flight was oversold. the airline originally offered $1,000 to anyone willing to give up their seat. when there were no biters, they asked to leave because she paid the least for her ticket. she kept her paper saying she voluntarily gave up her seat and was live tweeting the incident until finally she was offered a $10,000 voucher. united gave her two meal vouchers by the way, those were only bort $10 each. the golden gate bridge eliminated human toll collectors. now the district is looking at ways to update the system that charges you when you drive across. you're looking live at the
