more people last year. reported a stagger increase in thefts and violent crimes. reported more than 1700 arrests made in 2017. but thefts of electronics jumped 52%. now the most alarming data, there was a 24% increase in violent crimes on the bart system in 2017 with 34 search incidents that took place. the agency says fewer cars and bike thefts. they are combatting the crimes by higher more transit police officers and using newly installed security cameras on trains in order to locate suspects. a surprise decision from alameda county supervisors about the annual and controversial

72 at san jose, 65 in gilroy. and 57 at half moon bay. it is 75 in napa and 69. 73 in livermore and that 24-hour warm up has not occurred only here in the bay area, but statewide. 11 degrees warmer in redding. nine degrees warmer in sacramento. it is warmer all over the place. here is a look at blue skies over the bay from our rooftop camera. the warming continues over the next two days and we might see record highs for this time of the year on thursday. temperatures will drop a few degrees. overnight quite clear with low temperatures mainly in the upper 40s to low 50s. and tomorrow look for highs of sick six in half moon bay. mid-severity across the bay.

up in the north bay 80 in santa rosa. four-day weekend forecast for tahoe, thursday through sunday calls for sunny skies and mild conditions. now there will probably be a lot of melting over the next few days. and speaking of melting, look at the climate prediction center's outlook, warmer. all of the south western u.s. and milder than average. we have got spring like weather just about everywhere. here is the accuweather seven-day forecast. it looks like thursday will probably be the warmest day across the region. that is the day we are most likely to see record high temperatures. friday remains warming with highs around 80 degrees inland.

representatives in one place to talk about the impact of offshore oil drilling. held a public meeting in sausalito. in january, the interior department announced proposal to open nearly all offshore waters to oil and gas drilling. federal officials have been criticized for scheduling only one public meeting in california in sacramento in february. >> the administration hasn't shown the decency to hear from the people who are going to be affected by this. it was a real dog and pony show. >> president trump said more offshore drilling will -- >> taking a live look over the blue skies over the bay. spencer will have the spring like forecast coming up in ten minutes. what is old is new again.

airport. you are seeing a huge traffic backup in and around the airport. that is after the entrance to the airport was completely shut down after a car drove up onto the sidewalk of terminal one and hit a pedestrian. we will try to show you the picture of a car at terminal one. the sheriff's department says that person was hurt but not clear how badly that person was injured. let's try to zoom in now and you can see the car there up on the sidewalk. all of the police activity at terminal one. as a result the traffic has been backed up. there you see the car at the top corner of your screen involving a pedestrian. and we are not sure how badly the person was injured. and we will keep you up to date on this. the 12 finalist for the world video hall of fame today.

we have one to two fires a day and when you respond together and you put your lives on the line, you do have to surround yourself with experts. and for us the expert in gas and electric is pg&e. we run about 2,500/2,800 fire calls a year and on almost every one of those calls pg&e is responding to that call as well. and so when we show up to a fire and pg&e shows up with us it makes a tremendous team during a moment of crisis. i rely on them, the firefighters in this department rely on them, and so we have to practice safety everyday. utilizing pg&e's talent and expertise in that area trains our firefighters on the gas or electric aspect of a fire and when we have an emergency situation we are going to be much more skilled and prepared to mitigate that emergency for all concerned. the things we do every single day that puts ourselves in harm's way, and to have a partner that is so skilled at what they do is indispensable, and i couldn't ask for a better partner.
