4:17 pm
>> we did two different surveys and it was interesting, one said that americans are more trusting, one actually showed the inverse. regardless of where you are globally, now people are going to be much more aware, and as you and i were saying earlier, there's probably a greater awareness now than there ever was, and if we did the survey today, i would think there was even greater sentiment about how people use their data. >> how long ago did you do the survey? >> i'm not sure exactly. but definitely before all this news that came out. >> so now that we have all this wealth of information about what's being done with our information, what can you do? what can i do to protect my personal information online? >> there's a couple of things to think about. first of all, when you share that data, generally speaking that data is shared forever, so as your life changes, as your relationship status changes, that data stays in place.
4:18 pm
that's one of the things that facebook talked today that they're going to try to make that easier. another thing that's important is it's going to be key now for companies that are collecting your data that make private dash boards to help you manage your data. i think the relationship between people and these brands is going to change. and now people will actually gravitate to brands that respect their privacy and give them these levers to pull. >> and maybe you can filter stuff out, so that all your information isn't on there. which percentage of people are likely to delete facebook based on your reports. >> i can't speak to what people will actually do, but i think people will change their behavior and change the relationship they have with these services over time because they're just so aware now of what these services are actually doing with their data. >> thanks for coming in.

today, first off, we were telling our viewers about north korea and the president thinks that the country wants to actually move toward peace. do you think that's realistic and what do you think about the president's upcoming meeting with their leader? >> i'm encouraged that the north korean leader says he's willing to denuclearize and we need to really press him on that. what i'm concerned about is that we on one hand are seeking denuclearization of north korea, and the president i fear in the next couple of weeks will be walking away from the iran nuclear agreement and also nominated john bolton to be his national security advisor. if you walk away from that agreement, it's hard for the north koreans to believe that you could we need to listen to the north korean leader so we understand where they're coming from and how far they're willing to go. >> let's talk about russia and this ongoing investigation.
4:40 pm
there are rumors that the president wants to pardon some of those involved in the russia probe. is that actually possible? >> he could seek to do it. i would submit that his pardon authority is not absolute. and that that would cross the line into obstruction of justice. if it is true that his lawyer, mr. dowd was talking to michael flynn and paul manafort, prior to those two being indicted and floating the idea of a pardon, to me, that feels again like obstruction of justice. and that would fit the pattern that we have seen from this president, which every step along the way, he has obstructed bob mueller's investigation and so, again, it's really in congress we're not helpless, we can submit bob mueller's role, we can make sure that this president is held accountable and most importantly for the voters, we can do all we can at this next election in november that the ballot boxes are protected. >> more shakes up at the white house, the white house announced a new director of veterans

affairs. >> this concerns me, because veterans deserve to have someone that knows them, is qualified can speak to them on the concerns they have about mental health, and about finding a job in this new economy if they're younger veterans. we hope the senate confirms someone who will be like that. the last director -- this should be bipartisanly received because this issue is really important. >> let's go back to stormy daniels, what are the implications with the president facing a lawsuit and the concerns over campaign donations? >> the concern to me is the length that the president's team is willing to go to protect him. and so as someone involved in the russia investigation, we have had so many witnesses come in and i fear that so many of
4:42 pm
them either are lying through their teeth as we talk to them, or are doing all they can to refuse to answer because they want to protect him. so if what mr. cohen did, michael cohen, the president's lawyer, paying ms. daniels $130,000 to be silent, if that is true, i fear that we have a whole host of trump campaign and family members who in the russia investigation are willing to do anything to protect the president. so we don't have the subpoena power on the democratic side in congress, the republicans do. but we can find out how far they have gone to protect the president and whether they have told the truth request us if we exercised that subpoena power, to obtain call records and email records because these people are not to be taken at their word. >> tell us what you're doing in the bay area. >> i wish it were recess. recess is like on the jungle gym with your family. i've been holding town halls, i
