at 14. southbound 101, san rafael to san francisco. look great at 17 minutes. now, breaking news from the abc 7 live dress did he say. that happening in hayward. a fire near whipple road off the nimitz. a really populated and busy area. especially in the morning. we just got this video from the scene. you can see here some firefighters inside the motel. this is brand new video. got it during the commercial break. you can see the glow of the flames. there were plenty of people evacuated from the hotel. it seems the fire actually started accord to a witness inside of a room. i'm going to fast forward a little bit more for you in our video. you can see the flames coming from the top of the hotel. a witness also says that there was a really loud noise when some of the windows blew out of the hotel. our team in the newsroom right now calling the hayward fire department. we want to get you more information as soon as that comes in.

i will let you know. avoid the ir i can't if you live nearby. back to you. >> three children from washington state are missing after a crash that killed their parents and three siblings in mendocino county. >> this is a sad story. the bodies of two women and three children were found monday after their suv went off the cliff over highway 1 north of fort bragg. the sheriff calls the scene confusing saying there were no skid marks and no indication of why the vehicle ended up in the ocean. investigators believe that all six children of the family were in the vehicle. one of the missing children has been identified as this boy. 15-year-old devante heart. it went viral after a protest in portland, oregon. he was holding a sign offering free hugs. i should mention that just days bfore this crash happened, the family was being investigated in washington after complaints were filed that they were being abusive and neglectful of their six adopted children.

an investigation is under way this morning after a deadly crash at the sonoma raceway. a 75-year-old man died in an accident on the quarter mile drag strip. it happened during the wednesday night drags program. this is video from earlier in the day. people bring their own cars to the track and allowed too race after staff inspects each car. a man driving a ford pinto. going at least 100 miles an hour when he hit a wall. a raceway manager says he was the only driver on the track at the time. >> this particular participant had a full roll cage, all the proper harnesses and helmets and all the safety gear appropriate for his class. i think our safety record speaks for itself as a tragic, tragic accident. we're grieved by it. >> this is the first time in 30 years someone has died. pg&e facing scrutiny for its possible role in the north bay wildfires. this morning, we're learning the company's ceo received a pay

bump. geisha williams became the first female ceo last march. her total compensation increased from more than $4 million in 2016 to more than $8.5 million last year. pg&e faces dozens of lawsuits following last october's north bay wildfires alleging their power lines and poor maintenance started the fires. investigators have not yet determined what sparked the flames. a san francisco firefighter is telling us that a city supervisor should step down after a heated exchange in north beach. flames gutted a vacant apartment building and damaged buildings. aaron peskin was at the scene and he called for joanne hayes white to resign. they should have been spraying the building with water earlier he said. in a memo released, mark gonzalez detailed peskin's behavior. saying that peskin referred to me as an idiot and accused him of risking lives. >> he was in between our command post and the fire building.

i had to get him out of way. it's not something a commander should have to deal with. >> they suggested anyone who behaves like that in the future should be arrested on the spot. peskin's office has not responded to our request for pay comment on the memo. in fremont, their frustration was known about the sex ed curriculum loud and clear. possible lessons are too graphic for young students. katie marzullo has more. >> parents made their voices heard before the meeting began. they're against a new sex ed curriculum taught in fremont schools including hiv in >> it's sexually essex police it. especially if it's taught fourth grade and up. >> superintendent says it's been vetted by experts. >> making sure that any

we're looking at light volumes. this is the westbound side of 580 on the richmond side of the richmond-san rafael bridge. just a few vehicles heading towards us and toward that toll plaza. we have not had any significant blocking issues this morning so far. drive times are looking great. we have the bay bridge metering lights on. we have one minor issue with mass transit. the west oakland b.a.r.t. station. we've had earlier police activity, they are recovering from that. that has cleared. about a ten-minute delay in that san francisco direction. we'll take a look at the central valley commute coming up next. >> palo alto police stepping up patrols as they look for a man attacking a younging joer. >> he pointed a gun at her and sexually assaulted her. matt keller is live in palo alto with more. >> reporter: this is a disturbing crime. palo alto police will be increasing patrols in this area as they continue to look for this man wanted for this sexual assault.

it happened yesterday afternoon just before 2:00 here in palo alto. this is the trail along the road near tesla headquarters in palo alto. a high school student was out for a jog, jogged in this area when a man pointed a gun at her head, pulled her off the path and sexually assaulted her. passerby called 9-1-1 after the victim flagged them down. police searched got area for two hours. he's described in his 30s, 5'10", wearing a black sweatshirt with a bear logo on it. >> our detectives are actively working the case and following up on leads. we're asking anyone if they have information or if anyone saw somebody lurking in the bushes in that area at any point, please give us a call on 911 right away. >> reporter: the girl was treated at a local hospital. police say she is in stable condition. detectives are working with her to see if she can help them with a sketch of the suspect. reporting live in palo alto,

matt keller, abc 7 news. >> terrible crime. thank you, matt. the reverend al sharpton will deliver the eulogy for the unarmed african american man shot and killed byacramento police. a wake was held yesterday. he claims the shooting claim at the end of a foot pursuit, he was a suspect in several car break-ins. officers apparently thought he had a gun when he was cornered in his grandmother's backyard. it turned out to be a cell phone. >> he's a good child. he wasn't a bad person at all. he didn't deserve this. i'm going to say it again, he did not deserve it. >> there have been protests almost every day since his death. there will be more security around the arena. marchers blocked fans from entering the arena for the last two games. only on abc 7 news, a startling claim from the family of the man who died when his tesla crashed into a barrier on 101 in mountain view last friday. >> 38-year-old walter wong left

behind a wife and two children. his brother tells dan noyes that walter complained to tesla that his model x veered toward the same barrier on seven to ten occasions on autopilot. dan noyes spoke with the ntsb from their washington headquarters. >> the family is telling me they provided an invoice to investigators that the victim took the car in because it kept veering to that exact same barrier. how important is that information? >> that information has been received by the chp and they've been acting on it for some time now. >> tesla tells the iteam they can only find a complaint about the and a hanavigation. they say it's unrelated to the autopilot. you can see more at abc7news.com. this morning, a man who plowed through five pedestrians and drove away from the scene st. in police custody. one of the men struck in the hit and run has died.

san francisco police arrested 33-year-old mark dennis not long after he took off. it happened at 24th street and illinois. it's unclear what triggered the incident. erratically, banging on his windows, throwing things and getting out of the van and chasing them with an ax. >> he backed up really fast, the van driver, turned around and just went head on through the men like they were bowling pins. >> dennis has been booked on suspicion of murder and assault with a deadly weapon. now a live desk update. >> facebook says it's changing its advertising policy and getting rid of a feature that let marketers use data from people's lives outside of facebook to target them with ads. new this morning, marketers will no longer have access to your home ownership and purchase history. basically any information collected by data brokers including objection i don't mean, epsilon and experian.

it will be shutdown over the next six months. it will take a little bit of time. facebook has been on the hot seat since there was misuse of information from 50 million facebook users by cambridge i cana. san francisco police will hold a meeting to answer questions following a deadly shooting involving an officer. a man was shot and killed and an officer shot in the leg when gunfire erupted on geneva avenue last week. you can see in the cell phone video, the officer trying to crawl away there. police were chenging out reports of a manage with a gun. they ended up shooting and killing that man. four others were wounded in the gunfire. abc 7 news have learned the officer will be okay. the meeting begins at 6:00 at balboa high school. happening today, a man who drove his suv into several people at oakland international airport is expected in court. juan pablo of oakland faces felony reckless driving charges. investigators say that not only did he not have a license, he didn't really know how to drive.
