people protesting stephon clark have marked from city hall to the golden one center. today the kings put up a 6-foot tall fence around the arena. sacramento police are holding a town hall tonight about last week's officer involved shooting. police say they returned fire after eid shot at them from inside a barbershop. the town hall meeting is at 6:00 tonight at balboa high school. a san francisco correctional officer has been suspended on suspicion of sexual assaulting a female inmate. marco del real was taken into custody. sheriff djim hart says the alleged incident took place last july at the county's main jail.

said that school shootings were more prevalent in the 2015-16 school year. there's been a settlement who was struck and killed by an autonomous uber vehicle. she was killed last night as she walked her bike across a dark street in tempe. the relatives told the associated press that the matter has been resolved. uber refused to comment. today's revelations come only days after the governor suspended tesla's testing. a dramatic fire early this morning at a hotel. >> reporter: a terrifying wakeup call at a motel in hayward, robin verma took this video after he escaped the third floor at the america's best value in on whipple road at about 4:30 this morning. >> i just heard a girl was screaming, run, fire, run, run,

run. >> reporter: that voice he heard was danielle gonzalez. >> i was yelling, the building is on fire, everybody get up and get out. >> reporter: danielle and her boyfriend were asleep in their second floor room when she heard a loud noise. >> the window blew out and i woke up and i turned over and i woke him up and the room was on fire. >> reporter: when firefighters arrived they say they escorted out the people still inside the motel. the flames spread from the third floor and up into the attic. this is footage from inside the hotel when people were let in to gather their belongings. two rooms were a complete loss. amazingly no one was hurt. >> i'm just grateful that nobody got hurt and everybody made it out okay. >> we lost material things, i want them back, but we're alive and i'm thankful for that. >> reporter: the fire department plans to have a report on this

fire this afternoon. let's turn to the weather. >> so nice outside, we sent spencer christian up to his rooftop lair. >> it's a most spectacular day. sunny and warm around the bay area again. you can see just how bright and sunny it is right now, very few thin clouds are hanging around. and check out the records so far, 81 degrees in san jose, 81 in san francisco. 79 at sfo, all records for this date. and you can see many other locations have reached into the mid 80s inland. so we're waiting for the final official highs to come in a bit later. maybe there will be some more records. going into 10:00 tonight, the temperatures will be in the mid 60s. there will be a little bit of cooling, we'll see temperatures

near 60 degrees in most locations and tomorrow we'll be back in the upper 70s to near 80. and we could be on the way to another day just as warm as today. i'll have the complete accuweather 7-day forecast in just a few minutes. have you been on broadway in san francisco's chinatown recently? the ongoing broadway streetscape project is under way and it's hurt a lot of businesses financially. >> leanne is live and shows us how bad it can get during the commute hours. >> reporter: and we haven't even hit the real commute hour. this is a street that i really try to avoid in the morning and so do other people. and that's a real problem for merchants. this improvement project in what is perhaps the busiest street in chinatown, started in january 2017. >> it will be done at the end of may of this year. so may 2018. it's a few months behind

schedule. >> reporter: typically construction in older neighborhoods brings unexpected surprises and that's what has caused some of the delays. but once it's done it will have a new sewer system and promises to provide a safer and more pleasant walking experience for pedestrians. all this has affected popular restaurants like jute li. it's been popular on the travel channel and too many others to mention. he says it's been challenging to bring in clients. >> it's still going on. so anybody in the business almost go down 40% already. >> reporter: 40%? >> 40%. >> reporter: add to all of this the massive central subway project that ends here in china town, but it starts all the way back here at fourth and king. the project will be done in 2019

shelter in place order that was lifted for ten homes. the city says the construction crew should have been using hands tools instead of digging so close to that gas pipe. a los angeles judge has ruled that coffee products in southern california must carry warning labels was of a chemical compound produced in the roasting process. a state law requires warnings on chemicals that cause cancer. the coffee industry argued that coffee should be exempt because the chemical results naturally from the cooking process that gives coffee beans their flavor. hey, it's opening day in major league baseball. special treat for a's fans, first daytime home opener in decades. we'll tell you how they're doing today. and who's going to do better this year, the a's or the giants?

the nobel peace winner says she will continue to campaign for the rights of girls in pakistan. >> she arrives in her home homee country for the first time since 2012. >> reporter: it's been six years since malala was shot in the head by a taliban gunman. for the first time since 2012, she's come home to pakistan. at just 15 years old, she was already a powerfuled advocate f girl's education. and now at 20 years old, it's even louder. she said she couldn't believe this was even happening. she says she doesn't cry very much, but the tears kept coming. she's now a student at oxford university, the youngest ever nobel peace prize winner, with 130 million girls still out

objects in space known as face junk. the objects in low orbit can fall to earth due to the earth's gravity. space junk from size of a basket ball or a softball. space junk keeps growing, a collision between two spacecraft in 2009 over siberia created an estimated 2,000 pieces of debris. so identifying, tracking and forecasting their movement are critical steps. lockheed-martin has just completed this new radar facility in the marshall islands that will be par of a space project called space fence. as the junk grows, they will add the pieces to a list. >> where some of the current radars can just track one object at a time, space fence is
