hua live where you live, this is abc7 news. >> a massive emergency response in the south bay tonight after word a plane headed for san jose had several sick passengers on board. good evening, and thank you for joining us, i'm alma daetz. >> and i'm dan ashley. let's get to abc7 news reporter katie marzullo. katie? >> reporter: dan anda alma, i talked with passengers who were on the bumpy flight. it appears the cause of the illness was turbulence. >> you feel like you're on a little roller coaster for most of the flight. so just up and down constantly. >> row level, oscillation, kind of back and forth the whole time. we got stuck in a sway and never really left it. >> reporter: hours of turbulence on a delta flight from minneapolis started a chain reaction of illness. the san jose fire department said two passengers vomited followed by five more.

>> at one point, i mean, it was so -- kneeling down in the aisle and i found a bag and gave to to her. >> reporter: the plane landed just before 7:30. emergency crews were waiting. >> there was a fire truck waiting, a lot of personnel, airplane staff was at the gate waiting. everyone seemed to really panic. >> reporter: those who were sick were told to stay in their seats while everyone else got off the plane. ultimately no one was taken to the hospital. at san jose airport, katie marzullo, abc7 news. >> new details about an officer involved shooting in san francisco's crocker amazon neighborhood at a town hall hosted by police tonight to discuss it, the family of the suspect who was shot and killed apologized. abc7 news reporter cornell bernard was at that meeting and is here with what happened. cornell. >> yeah, that was a very big surprise, dan and alma. there was lots ever criticism for police from those who were

caught in the cross fire of the shoot out. first a warning the police body kamm footage that was released at tonight's town hall meeting is disturbing. >> he did not have to die. >> reporter: the uncle of 21-year-old came looking for answers about the march 21st shooting which left his nephew dead. police body worn cameras captured the beginning of a shootout when officers responded to a barber shop on geneva avenue looking for a man whose relatives say had a gun. this camera worn by the officer who confronted him inside the barber shop. the officer was wounded in the leg. you see him crawling out of the shop to safety. police say he fired nine rounds from his hand gun, 26 rounds were returned by two officers. he was shot 18 times. officials say eed fired first. >> mr. eed stood up and fired at the officers. >> reporter: a relative read the

surprising statement from the eed family. >> we understand the resulting consequence of his actions and stand by the officers who made the decision to use lethal force. >> reporter: the employee inside the barber shop is yelling, i got kids. four people were wounded in the cross fire. >> you guys handled that all messed up. there are dad's, brothers, everything, husbands in that shop. >> reporter: chief william scott couldn't say how four victims were wounded. >> a lot of people in the room here were involved in the incident, so but we don't have the scientific evidence right now as we speak to determine which one was hit. >> reporter: the district attorney is now reviewing the case. in san francisco, cornell bernard, abc7 news. >> funeral services were held today for stephon clark who was shot and killed by sacramento police and protesters took to the streets again, calling for police to be held accountable for shooting the unarmed man. ♪ take me to the king

♪ >> the reverend al sharpton joined stephon clark's family for his funeral. >> i am. >> stephon clark. >> reporter: >> sharpton delivered a you'll joy standing by his brother. >> we came for the family. we came because this boy should be alive today. >> clark's grandmother then paid tribute to him. >> stephon's giant character and loving charisma endeared him to all he encountered. >> tempers flared during this evening's rush hour when protesters blocked commuters trying to leave downtown sacramento. also today the union representing sacramento police officers called the deadly shooting justified. they claim clark took a, quote, shooting stance when officers confronted him in his grandmother's backyard. the two officers who fired at least 20 rounds at clark who was unarmed remained on administrative leave.

tonight's protests did not block fans from entering tonight's sacramento kings game. demonstrations forced the kings to shut many fans out of two games at sacramento's golden one center last week. >> moving on, greenhouse gas emissions and fuel standards will be the latest environmental regulations rolled back by the trump administration. the epa submitted a report to the white house for approval. details are still being worked out. the plan may clash with california's efforts to combat climate change, which has been a cornerstone of governor brown's agenda. >> family and friends in the north bay are mourning a beloved amateur race car driver who died after crashing his car at the raceway. ken rambo was 75 years old. the accident happened last night during the sonoma raceways wednesday night drag races. here's a video of his final race. witnesses say the napa man was traveling over 120 miles per hour when his car broke left and ran into a wall. >> only on abc7 news tonight, new information obtained

exclusively by the abc7 news i-team presents serious questions for cal trans following a deadly tesla crash. >> last friday a driver died when his tesla crashed on 101 and mountain view. dan noyes has this exclusive report. snur >> reporter: i contacted the driver who hit the same safety barrier. the cal trans did not fix it before the tesla driefrm and apple engineer died at that spot. 38-year-old apple engineer walter huang died where the 85 car pool lane veers off from 101 south in mountain view. tesla released this image from th day before the crash, showing the safety barrier collapsed. it provided no cushion to huang. today the chp released information. the tesla crashed at the car crashed at 70 miles an hour. he survived with lacerations to

his face, and complained of pain in his back and legs. he was arrested for being under the influence. he said unfortunately, dan, i'm going to have to decline an interview at the moment. he added, very unfortunate about the tesla driver. really sorry to hear, yes, i dodged a bullet here. >> it's like hitting a reinforced brick wall. >> reporter: attorney steven lawrence specializes in highway safety. he sued over guardrails in the past. he compared it to this in daytona 500 in 2001. >> if people are familiar with it, the accident that killed dale earnhardt, it's that sudden stop that will kill you. >> reporter: he says the safety barrier in question is this. a reusable hydraulic crash cushion that has to be pulled back into place. lawrence says cal trans should have repaired it long before walter huang krashds in his tesla this past friday. >> some states have a short

three-day repair time for high traffic locations and if you look at material in california, this thing should have been repaired within a week. again, there are a lot of questions about what happened and what went wrong, but it should have been repaired in under 11 days. >> reporter: for the i-team, dan noyes, abc7 news. >> tonight cal trans sent abc7 news a statement confirming it is their policy to fix broken safety barriers within 7 days or five business days, but storms delayed that work. tesla meantime is recalling 130,000 model s vehicles for power steering issue. the company sent an e-mail to customers saying the issue affects cars built before april 2016 and that the model s is the only model affected. they found excessive corrosion in the power steering bolt, mostly in areas with colder climates where road salt is used. it is the largest single recall of cars in the company's history. >> coffee sold in california will soon include a cancer

president of the national coffee association argues coffee is actually a healthy beverage. it says, this lawsuit has made a mockery of prop 65, has confused consumers and does nothing to improve public health. in walnut creek, alyssa harrington, abc7 news. >> the liberal face of the u.s. 9th circuit court of appeals passed away today. judge steven reinhart was known as the liberal lion of the court. a court spokesman announced he died suddenly today during a medical appointment in los angeles. the 87-year-old judge was appointed by former president carter. he may be best known for writing the ruling that overturned california's ban on same-sex marriage. >> the federal communications commission has given the okay for spacex to provide broadband access by satellite. the fcc says it will increase high-speed broadband availability and competition in the u.s. in its application, elon musk's aeronautics company says it plans to use a constellation of more than 4,000 ow orbit satellites to beam broadband

clouds made of ice crystals gave us this colorful sunset tonight. really absolutely beautiful. so, tomorrow expect more of the same, but those temperatures are going to start to come down, especially near the coast where you'll feel it. you will notice it. don't get me wrong, it's still going to be well above normal. live doppler 7 giving you an indication as to what it looks like right now and it's pretty clear out there. it was a record setting day. look at these temperatures. we were in the low 80s from san jose to mayor's offioffit field. oakland tied the record at 77 and in the low to mid-'80s from san rafael to napa to santa rosa, really unusually warm for this time of year, unseasonably warm. as you take a look at the temperatures, most of you still hanging on to some of the warmth. temperatures are in the 50s and 60s except in half moon bay where it's in the upper 40s. in case you want to head to the beach this upcoming weekend the weather looks fantastic. it is going to be warm in santa

cruz tomorrow. 79 degrees. cooler saturday, 71, and for easter 69 degrees. so, definitely seeing those temperatures trending lower. as we take a look at a live picture from our emeryville camera, it is absolutely gorgeous view. that is because visibility is so good. clear skies from our east bay hills camera looking across the bay tonight and a warm pattern will hold tomorrow. breezy and cooler easter weekend. there is a chance of rain late next week. it is actually looking better and better. first thing in the morning you can pretty much leave your sweaters, jackets behind. you don't need to bundle up because it's going to be so mild like this morning. other than half moon bay, everyone in the 50s to start off the day, and if you've got the day off, you're taking an early holiday, it's going to be pleasant, warm in the south bay. gilroy 85 degrees. 84 in lose gatos, 83 in san jose, on the peninsula you're looking at temperatures ranging from 78 in san mateo to redwood city. temperature coming down but still warm downtown san francisco, 74 degrees. the kind of heat we're expecting san francisco, it will feel like

october. and in places like livermore, it's going to feel like summer. all right, that pretty much sums it up. highs through friday in the north bay, 81 in santa rosa, 82 in vallejo, in the east bay mid to upper 70s from oakland to newark, fremont 80 degrees, head inland, sun screen, plenty of water is what you'll need. 84 walnut creek, livermore 80 degrees in fairfield tomorrow. your holiday weekend looks like this. tomorrow mild to warm it will be breezy, mild for easter. egg hunts that you might have planned, festivals, it's going to be nice. we're going to fast forward to april 5th next thursday. we are expecting some rain going into friday and right now it looks like it's going to stick around through at least friday, which is encouraging. we need the rain. accuweather seven-day forecast spring warmth friday. we have a level one system, much cooler, april showers. big difference, big swings. in between it's a gradual cooling through the holiday weekend.
