a stunning verdict for the widow of the gunman who killed those at the orlando nightclub. noor salman was found not guilty in helping her husband with the shooting rampage. thank you for joining us. salman's relatives are reacting to the verdict saying it proves what they've always known. she was a victim of omar mateen like everyone else. amy hollyfield is live in rodeo where salman has family. >> reporter: hi, kristen. this is where she grew up. the relatives here this morning did not want to comment, but some relatives traveled to florida for this trial. this morning they say they are

elat elated. her relatives were filled with joy as they left the courtroom this morning after the not guilty verdict was announced. >> i want to say thank you. thank you a lot for getting my niece free. >> reporter: noor salman sobbed and her family gasped when the verdict was read in a florida courtroom. she was accused of helping her husband in the 2016 attack on the pulse nightclub. omar mateen killed 49 people before police shot and killed him. prosecutors believe his wife knew about his plans, his guns and his extreme views, and she did nothing to stop him. jurors did not agree. >> i told you so. now i came here to tell you, i told you she's innocent. when she said she was innocent, we stood by her. >> reporter: noor's relatives say they sympathize with the victims of the attack and their families. >> feel bad for them. i lost a child. i know how it feels. no matter what's going to happen

between noor being guilty or nonguilty is not going to bring them back. at the same time, we can't commit another innocent person as well as part of all this. >> reporter: noor and omar have a young son together. her family says they don't know she'll make up for the two years she has lost but all she really wants to do is just be with her son. in rodeo, amy hollyfield, abc7 news. >> thank you. developing news out of the east bay. oakland's fire marshal has resigned. miguel trujilla has been facing intense criticism since the ghost fire in 2016. it's not clear if today's announcement has anything to do with the fire or his department's response. he will assume the role of fireman shall until a replacement is found. a transient is in custody this morning in san jose accused of throwing a rock at a car and a second one at the driver.

33-year-old juan brown faces a felony charge of assault with a deadly weapon. police say brown threw a rock at a car driving down south second street at basset avenue around 10:00 last night. when the driver got out to check out the damage, police say that's when broken threw a second rock hitting the woman. witnesses helped police track down the suspect. the woman suffered nonlife-threatening injuries. a town hall meeting to discuss a fatal san francisco police shooting turned heat. police released body camera video from the incident. we want to warn you, it's difficult to watch and listen to. it shows the chaos inside that barber shot. the 21-year-old stood up and fired first. he fired nine rounds at the officers and they returned fire, shooting 26 rounds. four bystanders were injured. >> it's all messed up. there are dads, brothers, everything, husbands, in that shop. >> a lot of people in the room here were in -- involved in the

incident, but we don't have the scientific evidence. right now as we speak to determine which will assist. >> an officer was shot in the leg but it recovering now. happening now, results from a private autopsy ordered by the family of stephon clark has found he was shot eight times by sacramento police, six times to his backside and once to the leg and once in the side. those results were released just minutes ago by dr. bennett omalu, the forensic pathologist hired by the family to determine how clark died. he's best known for his work on cte in the nfl. results from the official autopsy was performed by sacramento county and they have not been released. yesterday funeral services were held for the 22-year-old. reverend al sharpton delivered the eulogy by standing by clark's older brother. >> we came for stevante, we came

for the family, we came because this boy should be alive today. >> the union representing sacramento police called the shooting justified. protesters took to the streets again, calling for the officers involved to be held accountable. they claim clark took a, quote, shooting stance when he was confronted in his grandmother's backyard. proposed changes to jury selection in alameda county which could mean longer travel distances for those called to serve and a possible decrease in jury diversity. the executive committee is proposing moving to a jury pool for all types of cases, including misdemeanor, and in all locations. it already operates on a jurywide pool for all cases. >> a view from the bench says your jury pool shouldn't depend on the type of case. >> the court is making an extra layer of difficulty to get people to serve. >> the public defender's office

beliefs the change will create a burden on people in lower socioeconomic classes by asking them to travel farther. a public comment period is open until early may. the contra costa county sheriff's office is publishing release dates of inmates on its website. the change was made last month. officials say the new policy is in response to a request from organizations that assist with inmate re-entry. some immigration experts tell "the east bay times" they believe the policy is documenting undocumented immigrants. they say it's taking part in a loophole that ban law enforcement from cooperating with i.c.e. tonight's mega millions jackpot is $500 million and growing. matt keller is live in one store

catheter replacement but developed complications and that led to surgery. russia has ordered the expulsion of diplomats from at least 19 countries in a retaliation move. at least 60 american diplomats have been expelled. the kremlin has ordered the u.s. consulate in st. petersburg to be closed. more than 20 countries this week ordered the expulsion of russian diplomats over the poisoning of a former russian double agent and his daughter in the united kingdom. russia is accused in the act. an accused russian hacker made his first appearance in a san francisco court this morning after being extradited from the czech republic overnight. this is he's accused of stealing personal information of 100 million users and reselling it

to other hackers. if convicted, he faces nearly 30 years in prison and over $1 million in fines. iphone users can now decide if they want to turn off apple's default setting that slows down to preserve the battery life. yesterday apple released its newest ios version for iphones and ipads. the new battery settings are only offered for the iphone 6 and iphone 7. apple came under fire when it was revealed they were slowing the performance of iphones with older batteries. we have the scoop on some family fun this holiday weekend. do you love to binge watch netflix shows? find out how you can get paid to do it. and when we're looking outside from our east bay hills camera, you're going to notice it's not quite as bright as it has been the last couple of days, but we're still going to make one more run at record highs. i've kind of singled out

with pg&e in the sierras. and i'm an arborist since the onset of the drought, more than 129 million trees have died in california. pg&e prunes and removes over a million trees every year to ensure that hazardous trees can't impact power lines. and since the onset of the drought we've doubled our efforts. i grew up in the forests out in this area and honestly it's heartbreaking to see all these trees dying. what guides me is ensuring that the public is going to be safer and that these forests can be sustained and enjoyed by the community in the future.

"general hospital" is heading into this year's emmys with 26 nominations. executive producer calls the soap the original binge watch. >> in addition to it be iing ubiquitous in terms of its availability, i think there's also an opportunity for people to want to watch it live because of the immediacy of twitter and facebook and instagram and everyone talking about it.
