he. good morning, everyone. happy easter to you. i'm chris nguyen in for carolyn tyler. let's start with a first look at the holiday affect. lisa is tracking live doppler 7 for us. >> we're starting out with some fog. it's patchy around the bay but it's certainly cooled down yesterday and visibility this morning is impacted along the north bay. quarter mile there. it's 43 in santa rosa, 52 in san francisco. 51 san jose, 45 in livermore and we're cooler this morning from two to seven degrees cooler around the bay. the onshore flow kicked in. the fog is with us this morning. it does clear throughout the afternoon. it will be breezy with 50s on the coast throughout the day,

70s by about noontime, and our inland valleys we'll make it through the 70s at our warmest inland valley, sunset 7:32, looking at a nice couple of days before the rain returns in earnest. we're talking about some heavy rain by the end of the week. i'll detail it for you in a few minutes. chris? >> lisa, thanks. a peaceful day of protest in sacramento escalated after a sheriff's patrol car hit a protester. activists repeated the call they've shared for several days, they want two officers to be held responsible for shooting unarmed stephon clark two weeks ago. the protests grew confrontational when marchers tried to block traffic as deputies tried to drive along a street a sheriff's car ended up hitting a protester. authorities confirm the person hit is in stable condition. the chp is opening an investigation into the incident and there are no reports of any arrests. earlier in the day former warrior matt barnes held a peaceful rally for police accountability.

protesters have shut down kings games several times since the shooting. last night the warriors played at golden one arena in sacramento. >> reporter: sports and social issues intersect in sacramento following the deadly police shooting of is he upon clark. matt barnes hosted a rally for police accountability. >> one, because i'm from here, i walk the same streets and had the same encounters with police before. >> reporter: the basketball arena has been a frequent site of protests, following the march 18th incident where two officers shot and killed clark in his grandmother's backyard. they were looking for someone who was breaking car windows. >> show me your hands. gun, gun, gun! >> reporter: a cell phone was found near clark's body, no gun. warriors fan michael fykes attended to the rally before the game. >> they don't need to just shut up and dribble. it's bigger than that.

101 nine days ago. abc 7 news reporter alyssa harrington has more. >> reporter: shalina is blind, her brother-in-law bought this model x because it's the only car that allows her to know exactly what's going on. >> i feel safe in this car, because it alerts us as to what we should do. >> reporter: the very same model crashed last friday, the driver an apple engineer died. tesla revealed the car was in autopilot when it crashed but these two say they still feel safe. >> people need to understand that it's not that you can just get in this, and this car is just going to do a miracle car. it's not. it's a car, that you can put it on autopilot, but you also have to use your common, basic common sense. >> i think auto pilate is safe but you can be put on autopilot, you can't watch tv and not give

any credence to the signal they provide. >> reporter: a statement released late friday on the company's blog says the driver had received several visual and one audible hands-on warning earlier in the drive and the driver's hands were not detected on the wheel for six seconds prior to the collision. >> i'm not too worried but i think use it the way it's designed. it's still in early technology. >> reporter: driver daniel lawless says the autopilot feature is the reason he bought a tesla. he is still always in control and the car alerts you if you take your hands off the wheel for too long. >> i'll use it but i got my hands on the wheel and watching the road. >> reporter: the car will slow down and shut off if a person ignores warnings. they admit the system is not perfect. >> it raises a question on the safety, so how you balance it is you have to strike a balance of paying attention on the road. >> reporter: as the iteam resulted attorney and consultant from safeselfdrive. automation poses new challenges

brown, the charges included kidnapping and robbery, domestic violence and robbery. the governor had no comment about the tweet. a beach is closed on hawaii's big island after a person was attacked by a shark near kona. 25-year-old man suffered multip multiple injuries. he's being treated in a hospital. officials say they will look at reopening the beach once they've had a chance to look out for any sharks this morning. happening today, you can welcome the spring season at the annual union street easter parade in san francisco. the festivities include bounce houses, kids rides and games, a climbing wall, visits with the easter bunny and a petting zoo, from 10:00 until 5:00, the parade starts at 2:00 and mayor mark barro is this year's grand marshal. looks like a fun time. certainly cooled off yesterday at the coast and a lot of sun and today more sun is on

players on the team lost their homes. >> soccer for me was like an escape and without soccer i don't know if i would have been to get through it. >> reporter: getting through wasn't easy. their living situations were unstable, their school was in shambles and they practiced anywhere they could, including in parking lots. these are all reasons why the earthquakes wanted to honor these dwirlgirls. >> think about kids practicing in the rain on concrete or tar and figuring out what they can do in driving hours and car pooling to get to practice fields is something incredible to think about. >> reporter: this soccer season officially over it will resume in october and cardinal newman by then will have a brand new soccer field. abc 7 news. san francisco officially celebrated the reopening of a playground that thrilled generations of kids. yesterday abc 7 news was in golden gate park as the youngest generation played in the children's quarter. the new play structure has been in business for about a week and

replaced one burned by vandals last june. another generation of city kids including mayor mark farrell stressed how much people love this urban oasis. >> we've been taking our three kids here to this playground since week one of their birth, and to see it rebuilt, to see the kids back on the concrete slide is amazing, and we all remember the slide and getting some air off of some of those jumps. >> mayor farrell also saluted the late mayor ed lee who led efforts to rebuild the burned out playground. scientists say it's hard to know where a chinese space station will land when it falls back to earth but they have an estimate of when it will land. the european space agency believes the tiangong-1 will fall sometime this afternoon. it likely land in one of the earth's oceans, probably the pacific. >> parts of it will hit the earth. not much of it. most of it will burn up in re-entry. some will make it through the atmosphere and strike the earth but the chance of anyone getting

leandro. hercules checking in at 64 and you head inland a nice afternoon, upper 70s for livermore and pleasanton. overnight 40s with the fog coming back along the coast and otherwise clear and cool inland with temperatures dropping through the 40s. skipping ahead to thursday, this is what we're looking at, about 5:00, the north bay is getting wet and by late thursday into friday, 6:00 your morning commute we've got more rain. another band of rain moves in by late friday, and then it looks like it gets heavier into saturday morning. this is 8:00, and then by saturday afternoon, things begin to wind down. now, remember, this is a long ways out but as we add up the rainfall totals from thursday night into friday, and then into saturday, it's looking quite impressive. we're here saturday, sunday morning 8:00 with over two inches, so this late season storm looking like it's going to bring some very heavy rain and

i just let it go to the answering machine. >> reporter: reactions like that have prompted solicitors to disguise their call on your caller i.d. as a local one. the federal communications commission calls it neighbor spoofing. >> because of advances in technology right now it's easy for them to send false caller i.d. information along with the call. >> reporter: the fcc says sometimes the caller i.d. is a bogus number, but other times it belongs to someone who doesn't know their number has been spoofed. linda eckman of san francisco realized that when she called back the number that came up on her caller i.d. >> i call somebody else, because they called me and they said they didn't call. >> reporter: linda's number has also been spoofed. >> somebody is saying that i called them and i'm saying, nope. >> reporter: meda taylor said she received that spoof call from linda's number. she says calls like these make people irritable and defensive. >> no, i didn't call you.

why are you calling me? there's an edge to it, because everybody's inconvenienced by an unwanted or unsolicited call. >> reporter: in all of 2017, the federal communications commission received 4,000 complaints about spoofing. now, after just three months this year, the number of complaints is on pace to double. >> generally the purpose of spoof something two-fold. number one they're engaged in scams and it's harder to trace back who is doing the scam. >> reporter: number two, trying to trick you into picking up the call. last year the fcc levied $200 million in fines against telemarketers accused of malicious spoofing. the fines were the first action of its kind. now, regulators are working with providers to develop technology to authenticate legitimate calls and block spoofed ones. as of january 1st, phone companies are now able to block calls when the caller i.d. information comes from invalid phone numbers. we contacted verizon, t-mobile

and at&t and sprint and only at&t committed to voluntarily blocking those calls. the other providers pointed to their anti-spam technology, which customers must opt into and sometimes pay to get. i'm michael finney, 7 on your side. a concord police officer ran into this rattlesnake near a sports complex, a timely reminder anyone searching for easter eggs today to be careful. snake season has begun and that means we are likely to see more of critters out and about especially as it warms up in the morning. time is 5:25. florida homeowner found a surprise visitor in his swimming pool on friday night. an 11 foot long alligator was floating in the water. the sarasota county sheriff's office posted this video of the reptile on its facebook page. gator struggled to avoid capture.

let's get up and get going. >> this is abc 7 mornings. >> good morning and thanks for joining us. i'm chris nguyen. here' meteorologist lisa argen tracking conditions where you live. >> hey chris. there's patches of fog around the bay, live doppler 7 you can see the inland areas are clear but we have fog from the north bay to san francisco this morning, and looking at a little bit more fog patchy in nature throughout the morning hours. should clear by 9:00. quarter-mile visibility in santa rosa with 49 in oakland, hayward and mountain view. 43 for you in santa rosa and we started the cooling trend yesterday with the stronger onshore push for the easter holiday today 40s this morning, and then we'll be sunny and breezy by noontime. mid-60s to the upper 60s around the bay, and looking at numbers staying in the 50s throughout the afternoon at the shoreline. so it will be a mild several days, and enjoying the dry weather maybe turn off the sprinklers by the end of the week.

the east bay on this sunday morning. lisa argen returns in a bit with the if ul accuweather forecast and when we can expect some rain on the way. but first, happening today, a san francisco tradition like no other, the one and only big wheel race down the steepest and windiest street in the city. this is where people take big wheels, giant plastic tricycles and race. organizers carved out an hour for the kids to enjoy the fun. the course is there from 3:00 to 4:00 and at 4:00 the adults take on the hill. free to watch but you have to register in order to race. would you do that? >> i don't know. would you? >> i think so. maybe. >> i could see you do that. i've seen you drive. >> oh great, thanks. weather wise some fog out there? >> we have some fog. good morning, everyone. in fact it is dense in the north bay but boy you felt the cooldown yesterday, didn't you? the visibility here at the golden gate bridge not bad.

near 50 in fremont. 48 in danville. livermore waking up to 45 degrees. from emeryville this morning you can see still pretty dark. the sun coming up before 7:00, low clouds and fog this morning, by 9:0 be mostly sunny and mild and breezy today for easter sunday. rain arrives as early as thursday in the north bay, and then it stays with us all day friday, and then by saturday it looks pretty heavy before it winds down saturday night. so we're looking at highs today ranging from the upper 50s. pretty cool yesterday at the coast. san francisco was just 58 degrees. today we'll be in the low 60s. 63 in san mateo but mostly sunny skies, 74 in fremont. 75 in san jose. overnight lows will be in the 40s and 50s once again, with the low clouds and fog so feeling like that summertime pattern with the ebb and flow of the low clouds but things will definitely switch up by the middle of the week. we're pretty status quo into monday, tuesday and wednesday,
