sheriff's patrol car hit a protester. activists came together to repeat the call they've shared for several days, they want two officers to be held responsible for shooting unarmed stephon clark two weeks ago. the protests grew confrontational when marchers tried to block traffic as deputies tried to drive along a street a sheriff's car ended up hitting a protester. authorities confirm the person hit is in stable condition. the chp is opening an investigation into the incident and there are no reports of any arrests. earlier in the day former warrior matt barnes held a peaceful rally for police accountability. protesters have shut down kings games several times since the shooting. last night the warriors played at golden one arena in sacramento. >> reporter: sports and social issues intersect in sacramento following the deadly police shooting of stephon clark. former golden state warrior

matt barnes hosted a rally for police accountability. >> one, because i'm from here, i walk the same streets and had the same encounters with police before. >> reporter: the basketball arena has been a frequent site of protests, following the march 18th incident where two officers shot and killed clark in his grandmother's backyard. they were looking for someone who was breaking car windows. >> show me your hands. gun, gun, gun! >> reporter: a cell phone was found near clark's body, no gun. warriors fan michael fykes attended to the rally before the game. >> they don't need to just shut up and dribble. it's bigger than that. they have the pulpit. they have the voice for people to listen. yeah, they need to speak out. >> reporter: warriors and kings fans are streaming into the golden one center, the entrance way behind me. you can see the security behind me is about three times what's normal and these barricades are in place to keep protesters from shutting down the entrances. coach steve kerr said the team's in town to compete but that

doesn't mean they're silent. >> we're very socially aware and active. we have got a lot of players who do a lot of good in the community and who care about what's going on and we all care about what's happening here. >> i'm in the process of starting a clark boy college scholarship fund to make sure these boys go to college. >> reporter: barnes held clark's sons aged 3 and 1, on stage as announced the scholarship effort. in sacramento, katie udis, abc 7 news. tesla drivers are telling us how they feel about the company's admission that one of its model x cars was on autopilot during a fatal crash on highway 101 nine days ago. dan noyes broke the story last week, leading to tesla's response. abc 7 news reporter alyssa harrington has more. >> reporter: shalini is blind. her brother-in-law bought this model x because it's the only car that allows her to know exactly what's going on. >> i feel safe in this car, because it alerts us as to what we should do.

>> reporter: the very same model crashed last friday, the driver an apple engineer died. tesla revealed the car was in autopilot when it crashed but these two say they still feel safe. >> people need to understand that it's not that you can just get in this, and this car is just going to do a miracle car. it's not. it's a car, that you can put it on autopilot, but you also have to use your common, basic common sense. >> i think autopilot is safe but you can't put on autopilot and watch tv and not give any credence to the signal they provide. >> reporter: a statement released late friday on the company's blog says the driver had received several visual and one audible hands-on warning earlier in the drive and the driver's hands were not detected on the wheel for six seconds prior to the collision. >> i'm not too worried but i think use it the way it's designed. it's still in early technology. >> reporter: driver daniel

abc 7 news learned fernando carrillo will be released after months of detention, he was arrested by i.c.e. agents as he dropped off his daughter at day care, six months ago. the undocumented immigrant won his freedom after a judge ruled it would not be safe for him to return to mexico. immigrant rights activists are planning to hold a press conference at i.c.e. headquarters on mo to celebrate. president trump is criticizing california's governor for pardoning five ex-convicts who faced deportation. in a tweet yesterday, the president referred to the gvernor as jerry "moonbeam" brown and said the ex-convicts charges included kidnapping and robbery, domestic violence and drug dealing. the governor's office had no comment about the tweet. a beach is closed on hawaii's big island after a person was attacked by a shark near kona. a 25-year-old man suffered multiple injuries to his hand and leg yesterday morning. helicopter flew him to a hospital where he's being treated. officials say they will look at reopening the beach once they've had a chance to look out for any

sharks, later this morning. happening today, you can welcome the spring season at the annual union street easter parade in san francisco. the festivities include bounce houses, kids rides and games, a climbing wall, visits with the easter bunny and a petting zoo, from 10:00 until 5:00, the parade starts at 2:00 and mayor mark farrell is this year's grand marshal. meteorologist lisa argen is tracking the egg hunting forecast for us. >> looks nice out there. it will be sunny and breezy in san francisco, in the 60s yesterday. you barely made it into the upper 50s. so it was a cooldown for a pretty much everyone around the bay and along the coast. right now it's 52 downtown. 48 in hayward, with 44 in livermore. so we'll continue the cooling inland, and talk about a pleasant sunday, and the look ahead, which includes more rain, coming up. >> lisa, thanks. also ahead, defying the odds. the earthquakes honor a north bay soccer team that's been through a lot this year.

attended easter sunday mass at the vatican st. peter's square led by pope francis. they gathered to hear the pope's to the city and to the world easter message. he called for a peace in a world marked by war and conflict. he baptized eight people including a nigerian immigrant who confronted a thief on the streets of rome last year. the man did not have permission to stay in italy but officials gave him a residency for his bravery. san francisco's memorial church is holding an all-day easter event, a hot breakfast starting at 7:30 and two easter services where the glide ensemble will perform. fried chicken meal will be served for lunch. the foundation has been providing meals and health care to those in need for more than 50 years. time is 6:11. special honor for a group of deserving women. the san jose earthquakes paid tribute to the winners of the nor cal regional soccer champ from cardinal newman high school. you may recall, half of that high school was burned to the ground after the north bay wildfires. abc 7 news reporter lisa amin gallejian has the storey.

>> reporter: this moment at avia stadium standing before thousands of people was amaidsing. >> this is insane, being here at this game and being honored by them is really, really awesome. >> reporter: it's the perfect ending to a five-month-long roller coaster ride for the cardinal newman high school girls varsity soccer team. they won the northern california division three championship. >> we rose from the ashes of our school and we did it all together, like we all really wanted it and we all put our hearts into it. >> reporter: half of their school burned in october during the tubbs fire and 6 of the 20 players on the team lost their homes. >> soccer for me was like an escape and without soccer i don't know if i would have been able to get through it. >> reporter: getting through it wasn't easy. their living situations were unstable, their school was in shambles and they practiced anywhere they could, including in parking lots. these are all reasons why the earthquakes wanted to honor these girls.

>> think about kids practicing in the rain on concrete or tar and figuring out what they can do in driving hours and car pooling to get to practice fields is something incredible to think about. >> reporter: this soccer season officially over it will resume in october and cardinal newman by then will have a brand new soccer field. abc 7 news. scientists say it's hard to know where a chinese space station will land when it falls back to earth but they have an estimate of when it will land. the european space agency believes the tiangong-1 will fall sometime this afternoon. give or take several hours. it likely land in one of the earth's oceans, probably the pacific. >> parts of it will hit the earth. not much of it. most of it will burn up in re-entry. some will make it through the atmosphere and strike the earth but the chance of anyone getting hit is very remote. >> the chinese space station is not the only human made object in space. you're looking at a map expert

built showing the tens of thousands of pieces of space junk that surround the earth. happening today, thousands of shoe fanatics in the bay area will converge at the convention center for sneaker con. more than 100,000 pairs of sneakers are under one roof, people will buy, sell and trade some of the hottest shoes. organizers expect 10,000 people and 500 vendors. sneaker con runs from noon to 7:00 at the convention center on great america parkway. starting today, the golden gate bridge parking lots will be closed to are a week due to expected heavy traffic. only tour buses will be allowed to park at the lot. you can take public transportation, taxi, uber or lyft to the overlooks. the lots will be closed from 11:00 to 5:00 each day until saturday. it's a move to help keep traffic flowing across the span. also happening today, both the warriors and the a's are hosting home games today, so you're encouraged to take public transportation. the parking lots at the coliseum

50 in napa and concord. it hit 80 at the concord airport yesterday but most of you felt the cooldown, it was more significant at the shoreline, and those winds did kick up and we were sort of in and out of the clouds today. high pressure is allowing for a nice afternoon, but a more typical summertime pattern, so this morning starting out anywhere from two to six degrees cooler with the onset of the fog and the westerly winds throughout the day today. so from mt. tam it's a clear shot out there, but you can't see the fog. it's there along the coast. low clouds and fog for some of you, and then mild and breezy today for easter, if you're celebrating that, and then rain returns as early as thursday night in the north bay and bringing in the storm impact scale for friday and into part of next weekend. so don't get too used to the sunny, dry days. we're looking at today a nice afternoon, still above average, 70 milpitas. 73 in ga tows. on the peninsula low 60s in the city to the upper 60s around

spoofing. >> because of advances in technology right now it's easy for them to send false caller i.d. information along with the call. >> reporter: the fcc says sometimes the caller i.d. is a bogus number, but other times it belongs to someone who doesn't know their number has been spoofed. linda eckman of san francisco realized that when she called back the number that came up on her caller i.d. >> i call somebody else, because they called me and they said they didn't call. >> reporter: linda's number has also been spoofed. >> somebody is saying that i called them and i'm saying, nope. >> reporter: meda taylor said she received that spoof call from linda's number. she says calls like these make people irritable and defensive. >> no, i didn't call you. why are you calling me? there's an edge to it, because everybody's inconvenienced by an unwanted or unsolicited call. >> reporter: in all of 2017, the federal communications commission received 4,000 complaints about spoofing. now, after just three months

this year, the number of complaints is on pace to double. >> generally the purpose of spoof something two-fold. number one they're engaged in scams and it's harder to trace back who is doing the scam. >> reporter: number two, trying to trick you into picking up the call. last year the fcc levied $200 million in fines against telemarketers accused of malicious spoofing. the fines were the first action of its kind. now, regulators are working with providers to develop technology to authenticate legitimate calls and block spoofed ones. as of january 1st, phone companies are now able to block calls when the caller i.d. information comes from invalid phone numbers. we contacted verizon, t-mobile and at&t and sprint and only at&t committed to voluntarily blocking those calls. the other providers pointed to their anti-spam technology, which customers must opt into and sometimes pay to get.

i'm michael finney, 7 on your side. a concord police officer ran into this rattlesnake near a sports complex, a timely reminder anyone searching for easter eggs today to be careful. snake season has begun and that means we are likely to see more of critters out and about especially as it warms up in the morning. a florida homeowner found a surprise visitor in his swimming pool on friday night. take a look at this. an 11 foot long alligator was floating in the water. the sarasota county sheriff's office posted this video of the reptile on its facebook page. the gator began swimming away as it struggled to avoid capture. the deputy dragged the gator out of the pool with the help of a trapper. they got it off the property through a door to the swimming pool. it's unclear where the alligator came from and how it ended up in the pool. time is 6:25. still to come on abc 7 mornings,

have been testing a high-tech tool that could help them and the people they rescue get out of a burning building more quickly. jonathan blum has a look at how it could save lives. >> we hear about firefighters getting lost in buildings, running out of air. >> reporter: finding walls and doors can be tough. finding victims tougher. >> it's not like hollywood, you're in hot, smoky conditions. sometimes you can't see the fire. in the old days we would crawl on the floor, listen for people, yell out and then hopefully find somebody within a room. >> reporter: handheld thermal cameras were a break-through but firefighters rarely have a free hand. that's where this comes in. >> it draws a wire frame or outlines the objects in the room to allow a firefighter to make a faster decision. >> reporter: sam is a volcano scientist. >> i spend a lot of time in and around volcanos. there happens to be quite a bit of smoke there. >> reporter: thermal camera and augmented glasses. from display maker loomis. >> we've been working with the military for more than a decade so literally battle tested.

the warriors say guard patrick mccaw will undergo an mri after an awkward fall during last night's game against kings. the team announced an x-ray and ct scan came back clear. mike shumann has more in this morning's sports report. >> reporter: good morning, well the warriors were excited last night at sacramento with the return of klay thompson after missing eight games with a fractured right thumb. that turned into a cloud of gloom when patrick mccaw hit the floor hard and left on a stretcher. klay is back. scored the first four points of the game. draymond green finding him on the touch down pass, and good to see klay back in form. draymond nearly had a triple-double. dubbed by eight at the half. third quarter, great passing led to that mcma gee and the kings come back to durant for three, he finished with 27 and klay getting the friendly roll, 25 for him in his return. but late in the game, patrick mccaw undercut by vince carter

we're looking at a mostly sunny afternoon. temperatures cool along the coast and we'll have that microclimate spread with temperatures near 60 at the coast to the mid and upper 70s inland. so mild and breezy for easter. still a bit above average and rain returns late in the day on thursday. so if you're stepping out today in the east bay, this is closer to the bay, we'll be in the 50s, and then by about noontime 60 degrees. 64 2:00. upper 60s in oakland. in the game temperatures in the mid-60s, the south wind up to about 15 miles an hour, looking at a pretty nice day today. 74 in fremont. san jose cooling back at 75. 73 in livermore. mid-70s up in the north bay and we're talking about the rain heading in the north bay, with a one on our storm impact scale for thursday. friday we ramp things up a bit. the rain lingers and it sort of makes its presence felt by saturday morning, and that will
