live where you live, this is abc 7 news. developing news tonight. we're learning that the car crash that killed a family in mendocino county may not have been an accident. someone discovered the reckage on the coast monday. tonight the chp confirmed the crash was likely >> reporter: in a press briefing the chp said the speedometer was pinned at 90 miles per hour and also software indicate it is vehicle accelerated off the cliff. a deadly crash off the coast of california appears to have been intentional. >> at this point in our investigation that's where we're going wit.

this was posted on twitter. the person says this is in the southbound lane. some of the participants got out of the their cars, lit up fire works and sprayed graffiti on the barriers. a man is recovering after being trapped under a fallen tree at mclaren park this afternoon. a portion of the tree, about 1 to 2 feet in die amter fell on the man as he was listening to jazz in the park. he was able to call 911 and guide firefighters to where he was. his injuries are described as nonlife threatening. regs to the park say you need to look up periodically. >> when i saw the story, it reminded myself to keep my head up when i'm walking. i try to stay out of the park when it's windy because you hear about trees falling all the time. >> a representative to the

city's attorney office responded to take photos. leaders in sacramento look to calm anger over the shooting of stephon clark. his pastor says weeks have been emotional. pastor darryl scarborough wents to seek justice. >> they may not do it in the most responsible way but to see that they care is exciting. >> clark was shot and killed on march 18th in his grandmother's back yard. police believe he was armed with a gn gun but only found a cell phone on him. >> a pair of explosions closed the road in front of the hard rock cafe. investigators blame a faulty

weekend. mild temperatures but the week ahead features cooler numbers. the picture outside, it's a clear one. great visibility just a light breeze at this hour. temperatures earlier today topped out in the 60s and 70s right now we've fallen back into the 50s and 60s. 60 in santa rosa, same in concord, 55 for oakland and san francisco. so the call from accuweather over the next 12 hours mainly clear skies out there. a few high clouds passing from time to time but from the coast to bay and inland we all drop into the 40s overnight tonight. early in the morning, your temperatures in the 40s, a few high clouds once the sun gets up at 6:53 in the morning. throughout the afternoon it's nothing but sunshine and once again away from the coast, temperatures on the mild side in

the 60s and 70s. along the coast, a sea breeze keeps us limited to the upper 50s. so if you liked today you'll like tomorrow as well. 74 the high in concord, 66 in oakland, about 62 in san francisco with a breeze from time to time. 72 in santa rosa and palo alto up to 67 degrees. we fast forward into thursday and friday, and that is when we are tracking the return of some rain. we're going to take you about 18,000 feet in the atmosphere. this is where storms gather their moisture. the brighter colors on your screen indicating the higher amounts of rain to bring to california. as we get you into friday night, 8:00, 9:00 at night you can see a stream of high amounts of moisture right at the california coastline and right now those brighter colors indicating the heavier rain somewhere between san francisco and santa barbara.

and this line can oscillate to the north and the south over the coming days but there is good confidence we could see rain by friday. thursday evening by 8:30 likely see showers, mainly in the north bay. it's likely not until friday that everybody has a good shot at seeing rain across the entire region. and friday night into saturday morning the rain could be heavy at times. you see future weather here indicating close to monterey, pockets of yellow, that is heavy rain. so the trend continues where the rain is heaviest in the bay area we'll have to increase our number on the impact scale. here's the 7 day forecast. sunny and mild for your monday. dry into tuesday. similar conditions on wednesday. as temperatures start to cool off. thursday night there's that chance of the shower in the north bay. by friday, and especially saturday morning we see widespread showers.

a 98-year-old nun who became perhaps the biggest star at this year's ncaa tournament says she's looking forward to next year after her team's loss this year. her spiritual advice is credited with guiding the under dog t to the matchup, and the catholic nun is a san francisco native. last night they lost 96-68. despite the loss she said the run was thrilling. >> it was exciting for me to get here. i almost didn't get here but i fought hard enough to do that. >> san francisco's mayor declared it sister jean day. a teacher going above and beyond to make sure his students
