san rafael to san francisco looking great at 18 minutes. thank you, alexis. we turn to the shooting at youtube headquarters in san bruno. >> three people are hurt, the shooter is dead. matt keller is live at the headquarter. >> alyssa harrington is live at the police department with what we're learning about the shooter. good morning, alyssa. >> reporter: good morning. we learned that police actually had contact with the suspect nasim aghdam hours before the shooting. officers found the 39-year-old asleep in her car and contacted her family down in southern california. aghdam's family recently reported her as a missing person after she stopped answering her phone. her brother who did not want his face on camera told reporters that he warned police she might be in the bay area with plans to go to youtube and do something. she traveled hundreds of miles to get here. he knew she was angry at the

company. >> innocent person to -- she never hurt creature. >> aghdam appeared to be obsessed with youtube. you're watching a couple of her videos. she posted hundreds of them. these included bizarre workout videos, and talked about veganism and animal cruelty. she posted a rant criticizing youtube for a new ad policy that was causing her to lose money. that's apparently why she was so angry. as far as we know, she did not know any of the employees at youtube. so she was targeting people randomly when she opened fire before shooting herself. there is a press conference scheduled her at the san bruno police department at 9:00 a.m. reporting live in san bruno, alyssa harrington, abc 7 news. thank you, alyssa. the names of the three victims

have not been released. we know a 36-year-old man is in critical condition this morning. a 32-year-old woman is in serious condition and a 27-year-old woman is in fair condition. >> the police response was fast with officers moving in just a few minutes after the shooting took place. >> abc 7 news reporter matt keller continues our coverage live at youtube headquarters with the latest on the investigation. also, the response. good morning, matt. >> good morning, natasha and reggie. i spoke with the police chief this morning. he told me there's no indication that the semiautomatic handgun used by the shooter at this youtube building in san bruno was obtained illegally. i'm also told by the police chief that they do have the vehicle, the suspect's vehicle in their possession. but they have yet to complete a search of it. chief ed barber ini says it's a slow process. no letter or manifesto found yet. investigators are looking for access to online accounts and looking into how aghdam got into

unimaginable tragedy. youtube banned people from uploading videos with the sale of rifles and bump stocks. they called the new policies troubling and worrisome. natasha, this morning, questions about security at major tech companies like youtube. former fbi agent and abc news security contributor steve gomez explained overnight how those companies need to protect themselves. take a listen. >> companies like youtube and facebook and many other companies, they have to think of themselves like a bank in some ways where there is a reason for people out there to target them fo tsher t khey know somebody te at youtube or it's the company itself that they are targeting. because they are right in the middle of controversial issues. they should know that. they have to understand that. they have to have security measures in place to prevent somebody from just walking into the building at a certain moment and going out and start shooting

entresto, for heart failure. welcome back. russia is claiming the poisoning of an ex-russian spy and his daughter in britain was staged. they say the u.k. and u.s. intelligence agencies planned it all to frame russia. russia's spy master spoke out a while ago and called it a grotesque provocation rudely stanld by the british and u.s. intelligence agencies. he said this in a conference organized by the russian defense ministry. spy master also said it was akin to practices the u.s. used during the cold war and right now, as you may know, u.s. russian relations are the lowest they've been since the cold war.

no response yet from the uk or the white house. developing news in southern california, four people presumed dead after a marine helicopter crash. >> now there's an investigation into what happened. the crew was on a routine training mission east of san diego. it happened around 2:30 yesterday afternoon but reports didn't surface until last night. the helicopter was based at the 3rd marine aircraft win in miramar. the marine corps is notifying the family members before releasing names to the public. soars sources met with the president owes owe mueller says he has to speak with the president to complete the probe. attorneys representing couples who may have lost frozen embryos or eggs are demanding answers. they refuse to answer questions about reports 2,000 eggs and embryos were compromised.

it's going to be quite a soaker of a storm. for today, check it out. pretty quiet back on the western span of the bay bridge. filtered sunshine. still need the sunglasses from time to time. seasonal temperatures today. rain heavy at times, especially friday into saturday. it starts tomorrow. another storm is possible. april was going to be so good. as far as wet weather goes, highs today, we'll have low to mid-70s. we'll have upper 60s, low 70s through the north bay. take it to ukiah at 73. mid-60s to 70 around the bay. 61 at half moon bay to 63 in san francisco. storm impact scale still looking at a 2. the heaviest rain friday into saturday morning and the highest totals in the north bay and the mountains along the coast. gusts to 25 miles per hour could mean downed trees and outages. still looking at the coast and up in the north bay for a wet commute. all of us start driving in rains

friday morning as it becomes steady. light, moderate to heavy at times. look at this. we're pushing more than an inch in the areas in green by the evening. by saturday morning, we're starting to push 2 to 3 inches in the area which are the mountains along the coast. the rest of us around 1 to 2.5 inches. here's the seven-day forecast. the storm starts as a 1 thursday, light. then becomes moderate friday into saturday. saturday evening into sunday we start to transition back to quieter weather. a little warmer for monday. another light storm develops for tuesday. while it's dry out there, let's check on the commute. here's alexis. >> good morning, mike. we haven't had too many incidents today. we're enjoying the lighter spring break volumes. if you're not off yourself, the reward should be a lighter than average commute. we did have police activity. this is where we had a pedestrian hit by a vehicle an hour ago. it does sound like there were no major injuries thankfully. they're still processing that

scene. the vehicle had to be towed away. looking at heavy drive times out of the central valley. tracy to dublin. one hour one minute. we've got a couple incidents along that route. the first one, westbound 580 near 205, a crash in the center lane. then just past that greer grant line road, a disabled vehicle. quite a bit there. dublin to mission boulevard, 16 minutes. 101 to cupertino. looking great at 16 minutes in the green. happening today, a san jose city council committee is scheduled to address concerns about dockless bicycles and e-scooters. there's been a surge of line bikes and scooters on the streets of downtown san jose. they've been complaining about renters leaving them on the streets or sidewalks. sometimes they're there for days. of the rules committee will be briefed about the complaints an hear recommendations on potential permitting processes. >> bringing smiles to kids' faces. an east bay fun house may have to close.

headquarters with new details about the investigation. matt? >> reporter: good morning, natasha and reggie. this morning, we found out the forensic investigation at the youtube building on cherry avenue in san bruno has been completed. we are told that youtube building here is going to be closed for today and maybe for a couple more days. i did speak with the police chief earlier this morning just a few hours ago. they are still investigating a mow sif. but saying nasim aghdam was obviously upset at youtube and its policies. the chief says investigators are going in several different directions, including to her home in southern california and trying to access her online accounts. >> we do need access to those. there's a certain way we examine those. that's going to take some time. we're also looking, she had a car here that we're going to be going through that's with our forensic folks that's going to take time. hopefully something in there that will help us a little bit. >> san bruno police arrived on

the scene two minutes after the initial 911 calls. the chief says this is a local investigation with the fbi and atf assisting. he says they have a general idea of how she got into the building. they're going to sit sit down and recreate what they think happened before releasing that information to the media. he also says there's nothing to suggest she obtained a semiautomatic handgun used in the shooting illegally. matt keller, abc 7 news. here's a look at the area where this happened. youtube headquarters is on cherry avenue in san bruno. it's off interstate 380. it's a few miles from sfo. here's a different look at the area. many of the workers at youtube ran to the bay hill shopping center, right cross the street. this morning, san bruno city manager encouraging the community to stay strong. >> so many people rushed in to help the shooting victims, as well as youtube employees running from the shooter. >> was shot on her lower ankle. put them in the restaurant and gave them towels, band-aids, tried to calm them down.

>> a worker at hash's and brews took in one of the wounded. some found safety inside of a carl's jr. off campus. >> the girl, we put inside the carl's jr., the side door. we put her in there. grabbed a bunch of napkins, put them on her leg. >> a youtube employee shared what this was like. they didn't want to be identified but told abc 7 news that he ran for the nearest exit. that turned out to be towards the shooter. he says a co-worker ran towards him shouting she's behind us. together they barricaded themselves in a conference room. >> natasha, right after the shooting, the youtube ceo sent a message on twitter. here it is. susan wojcicki saying, there are no words to describe how horrible it was to have an active shooter at youtube today. our deepest gratitude to first responders. our heart goes out to those impact and hurt today.

it has enhanced developing news from sonoma county where petaluma police shot and wounded an armed man. neighbors at the vineyard apartment complex reported the suspect had a gun and making suicidal threats. officers negotiated with thatur yesterday afternoon. just before 2:00 p.m., authorities say he appeared to reload his gun and point it at officers. police say the officers fired at the suspect and injured him. he was taken to the hospital. no officers were hurt. 6:36 now. we're learning more about what led up to the death of a man who was in custody of the sonoma police department. officers were called to the sonoma oaks mobile home park last wednesday night. they received reports of a naked man breaking out streetlights. police say the man identified as rodrick cameron refused to comply with orders and in order to get him under control, they tased him three times, handcu handcuffed him and tied a rope around his waist. that's when he stopped

into tuesday. it's a 1. here are my concerns with this storm. as we look at the storm impact scale, the rain will be heavy at times. it means, we'll have hydroplaning there. highest totals in the mountains. 3 to 5 inches. we could have power outages and trees toppling. for this morning, it's pretty quiet at least weatherwise. not so much on the roads. >> going to get busier. we have a few issues to get to. want to take you back to southbound 680 as you head south of the cordelia junction. we have a crash near marshview road. >> there were three total involved. >> this one too. emergency crews are still on the scene and onlooker delays. that backup to interstate 80. plan on delays approaching that. we're start to go improve a bit here out of the central valley. both of our earlier issues, one on westbound 580 past the 205 interchange. grant line road. 9 miles an hour.

it was causing her to lose revenue. >> i'm being discriminated on youtube. i won't say only once. >> she also embedded videos from other youtube users blasting what they called ad pock a lips. ak d aghdam was active on social media. she posted music videos, workout videos. she's from a place in riverside county. her family recently reported her missing when she stopped answering her phone. we learned that mountain view police had contact with her hours before the shooting. aghdam was found sleeping in her car yesterday morning. they scanned the license plates, realized that she had been reported missing and contacted her family, her brother who did not want his face on camera. told reporters that he warned police she might be going to youtube to do something.

red eyes, slow responses and uneasy stance. two other ranking firefighters stated in separate memos this, quote, smelled alcohol on the supervisor. peskin was at the scene on union street and called for fire chief white to resign. peskin thought that firefighters should have been spraying the building with water. he later apologized. the san francisco police officer known as the hot cop of the castro is going to learn his sentence for a hit-and-run crash. a jury convicted him of two felony counts last month. he was charged with hitting two pedestrians in north beach in 2015 and then leaving the the victim suffered serious injuries. he turned himself in to police eight hours after the crash. happening today, the nation is marking the 50th anniversary of the assassination of dr. martin luther king, jr. a group made up of three generations has been marching to memphis for three days now to be there for a tribute to the civil rights leader today. thousands are expected at the national civil rights museum in memphis where he's buried. they will take part in a

now a live desk update with jessica castro. >> this morning, the dow plunging at fears of a trade war. china announced overnight that it's raising tariffs on $50 billion worth of u.s. goods and it's a new 25% tariff that will apply to soybeans, aircraft and automobiles. officials will announce when it will take effect later and this all comes after washington raised duties on chinese goods over a technology dispute. let's take a look at the big board right now when the bell rang. it fell sharply down 500 points. you can see it's down 426 points. that's nearly 1.8%. that's the range i've seen it hovering in throughout the morning. we haven't recovered. president trump has also been tweeting this morning, saying, quote, we are not in a trade war with china. he's actually tweeted twice this morning about our country's
