new developments right now in the youtube mass shooting. abc 7 news as learned the suspect went to a bay area gun range before going to youtube headquarters in san bruno. thanks for joining us, i'm kristen sze. we've also learned mountain view police encountered the suspect hours before the shooting, but san bruno police never got word of it. an 7 news reporter alyssa harrington is live at the san bruno police department with the latest. >> reporter: that's right, kristen. the san bruno police chief revealed that the suspect visited a gun range the morning of the shooting. he will not say which one but it is here in the bay area.

they have issued a search warrant at the suspect's home in southern california to get a better understanding of the motive behind this attack. youtube shooter nasim aghdam never actually got inside the building. instead she gained access through the parking garage and entered a gate to the outside courtyard where people were eating. here you see an employee letting a police officer into that same area using a company badge. >> at this point in the investigation it is believed the suspect was upset with policies and practices of youtube. this appears to be the motive for this incident. >> reporter: in a rant posted on her website, she blasted youtube for their ad policy saying she was losing revenue. >> i'm being discriminated and filtered on youtube and i'm not the only one. >> reporter: san bruno's police chief pieced together a timeline of the events. the morning of the shooting police in mountain view found her asleep in her car. they contacted her family members, who had reported her missing. she later visited a bay area gun range. then around 12:45, she stormed

youtube's headquarters and started shooting. her family told reporters they warned mountain view police she hated youtube and might be in the bay area to go there and do something. >> she had a problem with youtube, so we called the cop again and told him that she might -- there's a reason she went all the way from san diego to there. >> i don't have any solid information about what was received or relayed, so once we evaluate that information, we'll take a look at it. >> reporter: the mountain view police department defended its actions in a lengthy statement saying officers had no way of knowing she was a danger to herself or others. at no point did her father or brother mention anything about potential acts of violence or a possibility of aghdam lashing out as a result of her issues with her videos. mountain view police officers did get a chance to speak with aghdam. they say that she was calm and cooperative and she told them she was in the area looking for a job.

alyssa harrington, abc 7 news. >> thank you. we're also learning new details on the conditions of the three shooting victims. jessica castro from abc 7 mornings has that part of the story. >> hi, kristen. it's good news. all three victims that were in the hospital have improved. two are back home recovering there. the third has been upgraded from critical to serious condition. the two victims who were discharged from the hospital last night were the two women, 32 and 27 years old. the male victim who remains in the hospital is in serious condition, said to be a 36-year-old man. we don't know the extent of his injuries. >> you know, i can't speculate on how long he may be here. but we're seeing improvement, which is really encouraginencou >> all three of the patients had gunshot wounds. san bruno police chief said one victim was found near the entrance and two others were injured at a nearby business.

it still remains unclear if those victims were all employees or simply on campus at the time. back to you. >> thanks. youtube headquarters remains closed today but some employees are returning to work in other buildings with heavy hearts. matt keller is live at the scene with more on that. matt? >> reporter: yes, kristen. youtube has three buildings here in san bruno. two across the street here on cherry avenue, 1, 2, and across the street a third building. this is where the shooting took place and it is closed today. back to work for youtube employees in san bruno, but this isn't a normal morning. cherry avenue was blocked off by police tape and media crews. the building where the shooting took place remains closed after san bruno police completed their forensic investigation about 2:30 this morning. >> my understanding is the building will be closed a couple of days. i believe they are redirecting employees to other campuses. >> reporter: conversations about the scene are still a major

topic in the neighborhood. >> i can just see all the police cars and all their guns and everything drawn up. it was tragic, obviously. >> reporter: but san bruno has seen tragedy before. >> no one goes to work thinking that this is what will happen to them around their meal time, but it did. and i am thankful and appreciative of our public safety personnel and our law enforcement who took action and secured the scene. >> one neighbor says it's not that surprising youtube was targeted. >> it's youtube, which has an international presence. if that shooting had happened at somebody's taco store, nobody would have ever heard about it outside the bay area and maybe it wouldn't have even made your local news. it's because it was -- >> reporter: while youtube workers are not allowed back into the building, they're being let back into the garage so they can retrieve their cars that were locked in yesterday during the investigation. reporting live in san bruno, matt keller, abc 7 news. >> matt, thank you. there are also questions about security at major tech

companies like youtube. former fbi agent and abc news security contributor steve gomez explained how those companies need to protect themselves. >> companies like youtube and facebook and many other companies, they have to think of themselves like a bank in some ways, where there is a reason for people out there to target them for this kind of violence. whether they know some there at youtube or it's the company itself that they are targeting because they are right in the middle of controversial issues. they should know that. so they have to understand that. they have to have security measures in place to prevent somebody from just walking into the building at a certain moment and going out and start shooting everybody, as she did. >> our coverage always continues online. we have much more on the strangers who helped victims yesterday and how twitter stepped in to stop misinformation and the shooter's background, including her youtube videos. that's all at abc7news.com. in other news happening now, a massive scale search and

rescue operation for three missing children near ft. bragg's state park. the three siblings and adoptive parents were killed when their suv plummeted 100 feet off a cliff on march 26th. their bodies have been recovered. authorities have reason to believe this was an intentional act. more than 70 searchers are looking for the other three children now that there's low tide. happening today, attorneys representing couples who may have lost their frozen embryos and eggs at a san francisco fertility clinic are demanding answers. they say the center refuses to answer questions about reports that 2,000 eggs and embryos were compromised. attorneys for the victims are calling for transparency following the clinic's storage malfunction. the clinic says it can't comment because of pending lawsuits. attorneys for the victims are planning to hold a news conference in about 20 minutes. new developments on a controversial housing proposal.

wall street as stocks sharply fell at the opening bell over fears of a possible trade war with china. the dow jones industrials fell more than 500 points but have since recovered. this after the chinese announced 106 new tariffs on everything from u.s. soybeans, cars and planes to whiskey and orange juice. now, the potential impacts of these tariffs go into effect and would hit u.s. consumers and companies like ford, general motors and boeing. the u.s. china business council said the concern is higher tariffs could mean job losses and higher prices. >> china is serious about a reciprocal response to any action taken pby the united states. >> the tariffs are in retaliation for trump administration's plans to raise duties on a similar amount of chinese goods or similar number of chinese goods. mark zuckerberg is set to testify before congress next wednesday about the company's consumer data privacy issues. it was revealed last month that

hi there. we're already starting to see the first signs of change. look at this time lapse i put together for you. you can see the high clouds and midlevel clouds streaming in as moisture is starting to move into our neighborhoods. nothing is going to come from these today. they're just going to filter the sunshine a little bit. temperatures may not be quite as warm as yesterday, but still going to be a pretty decent day for outdoor activities. in fact the temperatures right now are 1 to 2 degrees warmer than where we were this time yesterday. that's pretty much in the mid-50s around san francisco, oakland and half moon bay. upper 50s to mid-60s for the rest of us. nice day to be at the beach. that's a look at santa cruz. let's talk about what's going to happen. filtered sunshine, seasonal temperatures today. rain, heavy at times especially

friday into saturday morning and another storm coming next week. as far as high temperatures today, low to mid-60s from half moon bay to san francisco. mid to upper 60s around the bay and low to mid-70s inland. santa cruz about 70. another unusual start time for the game, 4:15. it will be 64 degrees. by 7:15 it will drop down to 60. a little less sunshine than yesterday. over at the coliseum at 7:05, we start 64 as the a's and rangers go at it once again but by the end it will be 58 degrees. gorgeous shot from emeryville. you can see some of the low clouds way off in the distance and the high and mid-level clouds for the rest of us. it's just mainly cloudiness that will dominate the forecast. but temperatures running in the mid-60s, bay and inland at noon, to upper 60s at 4:00. notice, we'll stay in the 50s pretty much at the coast. near 60 at 8:00 so a nice evening. and low to mid-50s by midnight. we'll drop down to the mid-40s to 50 degrees in places like san francisco, redwood city, san

jose, concord. the warm spot could be antioch at 53. here's a look at the satellite and radar today. look at that long stream of bright white clouds. that's the atmospheric river. that's going to dump rain up to 10,000 feet on the sierra, which is going to cause melting snow and too much rain, 2 to 4 inches, why we have a flood watch starting at 5:00 friday afternoon going through 5:00 sunday morning, so 36 hours of flood potential. for us by 5:00 thursday night you can see the rain in the north bay and it just keeps coming. it will be steady friday, moderate to heavy at times. look at this, in a 24-hour period we go up to three-quarters in san jose, more than an inch for the rest of us and it continues to be moderate to heavy during overnight hours. we make up saturday morning and we're pushing 2 to 3 inches and it will taper saturday evening. here's my concern. the greatest one is hydroplaning, especially friday. trees will topple, which could cause power outages.
