nasim aghdam had a long talk with mountain view police. >> she shot four people on youtube's campus before shooting herself. >> aghdam's father says that police called her after they found her sleeping in her car. >> her family had reported her missing on monday. and we're now learning more about the conversation mountain view police had with aghdam hours before the shooting. >> cornel bernard spoke with the chief today and he's live. cornel? >> reporter: the chief had a lot to say about a conversation one of his officers had with the shooting suspect right here in this walmart parking lot, not far from the police station early tuesday morning. he says there were no red flags and nothing unusual about her behavior. >> it's pretty natural to see people living in their cars nowadays, so i'm really sorry to hear what happened.

>> reporter: sandra lopez says it's not unusual to find people sleeping in their cars in the walmart parking lot, it's not illegal. that's where nasim aghdam was resting. >> reporter: the police chief says that's the conversation that one of his officers had with aghdam just hours before the shooting. aghdam had been reported missing last week. >> in the conversation that the officer had with the father, there was nothing that the officer heard that raised his concern. >> reporter: an hour later, aghdam's father called the officer back to say -- >> she was likely in this area because of her dispute with youtube. >> reporter: the chief saysin a aghd aghdam's father says that the dispute was over restrictions put on aghdam's channel.

youtube who expressed his gratitude toward the first responders and also talked about changes that will be implemented for security. we learned from police that the shooter entered the patio from the garage, that same garage where workers today picked up their cars. we also know nasim aghdam never entered the building itself, but more safety measures will be put in place. >> we will be increasing the security we have at all of our offices worldwide, to make them for secure, not only in the near term and in the long-term. our employees have been encouraged to take off work and making sure elwiwellness servic are rededadedly available for t. >> reporter: two of the three victims have been relesionsed from the hospital and the third

one is in good condition. we also learned there were many acts of her oism that took plac by the youtube employees. >> at the riverside county home of the suspected shooter, she lived with her parents. >> today they were in shock that their daughter was named as the attacker. >> reporter: the father of that seem aghdam says the family is in shock and trying to make sense of what happened. >> i don't know how she's like this. i'm sorry. i can't believe it. >> reporter: in a statement he further says, although no words can describe our deep pain for this tragedy, our family would like to express their utmost

regret and sorrow for what happened to the victims. throughout the day family and friends also came and went from the home. some spoke briefly with reporters. >> i think that hearing it is bad news. i'm so sorry for those people shot. >> she was a very good person. she took care of animals and very loving. >> any history of mental illness? >> no, nothing. >> reporter: but the family of aghdam says she was angry at youtube, the 38-year-old was a prolific poster of vegan and animal rights videos on the site. about a year ago, the relationship soured after she lost followers and viewers to her page allegedly after the company changed its filters. >> the whole world wouldn't stop eating meat. >> reporter: the family says police in the bay area told them

fda commissioner scotttt gottlieb says that internet service providers like facebook and twitter need to block sales pitches for addictive painkillers. the fda is planning a summit with top internet executives to discuss possible solutions although no date has been announced for that summit. meantime thousands of google employees have signed a letter protesting the company's participation in an artificial intelligence project by the pentagon. the lett google says it should not be in the business of war and should pull out of the program called project maven. the project uses artificial intelligence to improve visual recognition. it would apparently be used as part of a drone program. google says it's involvement in the project is limited to nonoffensive purposes and that the software is available to any

the mill valley city council unanimously rejected an appeal that threatened the overall of the depot bookstore and cafe. according to the partners at the independent journal, some members worry that the cafe will be turned into a full-time restaurant and lose the character it had since the 1970s. the cafe's owner told the ij that all he's try to be do is clean it up. the two gray wolves now calling the oakland zoo home are now getting a look at their surroundings. they are 5 years old and were born in captivity. zookeepers have kept them out of sight to get used to their new surrounding. so to help sequoia and siskiu get used to people watching them. media will be allowed to see them tomorrow. zoo visitors will get their chance in late june, when their new habitat the california trail

lines to spark overnight in buffalo, new york. as you might imagine, the loud pops woke up just about everyone in the neighborhood. many people in that area lost power. well, it's already illegal in california to use your cell phone while driving, and soon it could cost offenders a lot more if they're caught. the first-time fine is $25. a state bill issued yesterday would reclassify the offense as a moving violation with higher fines and the points on a person's driver's license would increase their insurance rate. there's evidence that the current fine is not serving as a big enough deterrent. >> we all seem to believe we're the one person that can drive while using a mobile device and statistics say that's just not true. >> police issued 50,000 tickets last year for people using their phone while driving.
