could be sent as soon as wednesday night, but they didn't say how many, how much it would cost or where they would actually be deployed. >> it will be strong. it will be as many as needed to fill the gaps we have today. >> reporter: run from contra costa county says he needs more information from president trump. >> it's not a bad idea, we already have national guard troops, but there's no plan for this. >> reporter: it was requested in 2006 under governor schwarzenegger. >> they have to work with the governors of each border state. in this case, it would be governor brown. we do not have the best relationship with the president of the united states on immigration. >> reporter: on behalf of governor brown, california's national guard spokesman said they will review the request for additional support but look forward to more detail. ca

kate larsen, abc 7 news. activists are demanding answers from the santa clara county sheriff as to how i.c.e. agents were allowed into the jails to interview inmates. and as katie marzullo found, agents are still trying to access county jails. >> reporter: protesters circled the santa clara county sheriff's office demanding answers. >> were the sheriff to say that mistakenly they allowed i.c.e. into the jail doesn't cut it for us. >> reporter: on two occasions in early march, i.c.e. agents were let into county jails to interview inmates. it was a violation of the county's sanctuary policies. the sheriff lori smith blamed human error. >> since march 26, they have come every day to both facilities to try to gain access, and they've been denied. >> reporter: it was of little consolation to protesters. >> doing what you're supposed to do most of the time is not good enough. when the times you don't do what

you're supposed to do you completely break trust with our community. >> reporter: sheriff smith reveals changes that have been made at the jails, chincluding more rigorous check-in policy. >> we have a dialog with them about why they are entering our facilities. >> reporter: they are requesting a meeting with the sheriff, the sheriff says she's ready to meet anytime. now to the latest on the shooting at the youtube campus in san bruno. the family of the woman who opened fire yesterday extended their apologies, and youtube says it will tighten its workplace security worldwide. lilian kim is live with the latest. >> the three employees who were shot are recovering. two have been sent home. one has been upgraded to serious condition. youtube meanwhile is encouraging the rest of its employees to take time off or work from home. things were not back to normal at youtube's san bruno headquarters, but many returned

to the office to pick up their belongingan belongings and cars. aghdam shot three employees who were eating lunch in the patio before turning the gun on herself. >> we will be increasing our security we have at all of our offices worldwide to make them more secure, not only in the near term but in the long term. >> reporter: aghdam didn't hide the fact that she was upset with youtube. she vented on her channel, where it she promoted veganism and posted exercise videos. she claimed youtube began to cleanse or her and made 10 cents for 300,000 views. aghdam went to a gun range hours before the shooting. but before that, mountain view police officers questioned her at this walmart parking lot where she was sleeping in her car. the chief, however, says they found nothing suspicious. >> she just expressed that she was having family issues many

devices that can be hooked to a car to change the results of computerized smog checks. >> it's a method that they use to make cars pass that should not pass a legitimate inspection. >> some smog check stations allegedly charge an extra fee to guarantee cars will pass with no repairs. agents believe some unscrupulous dealers are selling those illegally smog-checked cars. agents told abc 7 news they found at least ten stations with suspect equipment today. rallies nationwide commemorated the life of dr. martin luther king jr. today. at 5:05 today, the bell at grace cathedral rang 50 times to honor 50 years since dr. king's assassination. and at the memphis, tennessee hotel where he was killed, thousands rallied for peace and justice.
