investors are growing more optimistic that a trade dispute between the u.s. and china will be resolved. and stocks today climbed as a result. the dow added 240 points. the nasdaq gained 34 and s&p by 18. however, late today, president trump announced he may authorize $100 billion tariffs on china, doubling the amount already authorized. china had its own list of tariffs totaling $50 billion. trump argued their unfair practices led to the closing of american factories. facebook went up 3% today despite more fallout over its privacy scandal.
