one man is dead. thank you for joining us, i'm ama daetz. >> i'm dan ashley. let's get right to lisa who is live in fremont tonight. >> reporter: this is still a very active crime scene. it started at around 6:00 tonight and it also started whether undercover police officers tracked down the passenger in that car behind my. take a look. they say he was a wanted felon for illegal possession of a handgun and a parole violation. but when they tried to pull the car over, the suspect got out and started running. according to police and other witnesses i spoke with, the man first ran toward the arco station then to the intersection where he started firing on officers who were chasing >> many people said, i did not feel like it was gunshots. i thought it was fireworks.

so we just came out to see the fireworks, but then it was gunshot. and i can smell the smoke. i'm really scared. >> reporter: and a lot of witnesses did not want to give their names tonight, because this whole thing has really shaken them up. the suspect meantime, who has not been identified, died at the scene. police say they found a revolver by the suspect with empty casings. no officers or other drivers were hurt even though bullets were flying and cars nearby were hit. back here live now, this is the fifth fatal shooting by fremont police since february of last year. abc 7 news. >> thank you. let's turn now to our weather tonight. you can see some rain has arrived throughout the bay area, but a lot more is on the way. >> let's get right to sandhya patel who is tracking this late-season pineapple express. >> it is raining as you just mentioned.

it will be pouring tomorrow morning. it's pretty green on the screen, but it's light stuff. let's get you down to street level. down to the peninsula, wet roadways. brisbane, spotty and light around the santa rosa, sonoma. in the east bay, steady, light rain. heading across the inland valleys around livermore, 580. wet. in the south bay, santa clara, street level radar showing you it is coming in pretty steadily. the heavy stuff, stretching all the way back to hawaii is on its way. tonight it's a level one. light rain, breezy, tomorrow it becomes a strong level three storm that is going to soak us through saturday morning. downpours, wind gusts, 35-40 miles per hour and debris flow possible in the burn scar areas. i'll be back with the timeline in a moment. abc 7 news reporter katie

marzullo is live at the base of the santa cruz mountains where flooding will be a concern. >> reporter: and where there is concern, ama, there is preparation. people who live here in the santa cruz mountains were put through the wring irlaer last y with all of the rain and flooding, so they are not taking any chances this time around. >> just try to prepare. >> reporter: in felton, joann was clearing out her garage ahead of the storm, trying to get everything at least two feet off the dprountd. she already lost enough in the 2017 flood. >> it comes up fast here. if it's raining like that in boulder creek, it gets down here, and it's worse than that. >> reporter: santa cruz county put out warnings for people who live in the mountains to be ready for downed lights. >> have your radios, non-perishable food, that type of thing on hand. keep your pets inside. >> reporter: this homeowner is ready for the worst. >> the last three days i got

batteries good for three days, four days. we have batteries from aaa, to big. we have six different flashlights. >> reporter: the county does not anticipate rivers and streams overflowing, but they will be watched. >> our management team and myself will be watching 24/7 for the next two days to make shuur we're through the worst of it. >> reporter: free sand for sandbags is always available. sonoma county officials are urging people living near burned out areas to keep their cell phones on. that will make it easier for to you receive alerts. sensors placed in mark west creek will help sonoma county officials monitor the flood danger. >> because of the incoming storm, the national park service is closing yosemite valley starting at 5:00 p.m. and canceling camping reservations

for friday and saturday. the rest of the park will stay open but it could change depending on the storm impact. and they're expecting the partially-repaired spillway to be used. part of it collapsed in february last year. state officials say they are confident the unfinished spillway will work properly during their storm. live at san francisco airport. wet and windy weather could delay flights. you should check with your airline for the latest flight information. and be sure to tune in tomorrow at 4:30 a.m. we will be tracking the storm and have all the travel trouble spots. tonight law enforcement throughout the bay area is looking for a man they consider to be armed, dangerous and a threat to police officers. >> search for dustin hamilton caused a scare in san francisco today. kate larsen explains.

>> reporter: tension throughout san francisco as police look for 44-year-old dustin hamilton. investigators say he stole funs fr -- guns from his parents' home and threatened to police officers. he also named 501 delancey street as a target in his man tess foe. >> i'm really scared. >> reporter: he lives in the apartment building near the embarcadero and says he's heard of hamilton. he's been told that hamilton lived across the street in a homeless encampment that police cleared out earlier this week. >> a bunch of police cars came over, clearedesq everybody out. >> reporter: vince has received this e-mail about a possible threat to the area from building management. while sfpd opened gates to search the space under the freeway and broadcast this message to their units >> there is a possibility the suspect is armed and could be hiding under the overpass.

avoid a possible ambush situation. >> reporter: earlier, officers throughout the south of market area went on lockdown after it circulated that he was actively shooting. >> people are pretty freaked out, especially after the youtube shooting. >> reporter: security for this building near at&t said they secured all entrances for more than an hour after they learned hamilton was not an active shooter but an ongoing and outstanding threat. kate larsen, abc 7 news. we getting information about the shooting at youtube headquarters. the gun range where nasim aghdam practiced shooting contacted police after they recognized her from news reports. at the youtube headquarters she empties the cartridge before refilling it. the gun was purchased legally in january in san diego. it was registered in her name.

youtube has increased security, putting a guard at every entrance. san bruno police have also put a patrol car out front for the time being. and an abc 7 exclusive. the father of the shooter sat down with matt gutman. can you catch it at 7:00 a.m. right after abc 7 mornings. police in southern california have captured a man they suspect of setting off two explosive devices inside of a sam's club. hugo gonzalez, police are searching an apartment connected to him. them found items inside his car that resembled what was used to make the devices. no one was hurt. stay with us tonight. a rare public interview with facebook's second in command. >> to be clear, we are late. also, the up about a difficult pregnancy.

facebook now says tens of millions more users may have had their personal information shared with political consulting firm cambridge analytica than initially thought. and the company's coo, cheryl sandburg spoke today about what has to be done next. marci gonzalez has new developments. >> reporter: facebook announcing changes to protect users' privacy as mark zuckerberg takes personal responsibility for the social media giant's failure to do so in the past. >> we didn't take a broad enough view of what our responsibility was. and that was a huge mistake, my mistake. >> reporter: 87 million people mostly in the u.s. may have had their information improperly shared with cambridge analytica. far more than the 50 million initially speculated.

across danville boulevard heading into alamo. it's also slippery. san francisco, richmond district, south city, this is what you're going to encounter, but worse in the morning, which is going to be heavier rain. redwood city into palo alto peninsula. it is getting wet in and around the south bay. you are seeing slippery roads enough so that you need wipers. rain from santa rosa, heading into the napa area. temperatures tonight in the 50s and 60s. it's really mild as we have this warm storm coming in and a south wind. the wind hasn't picked up much. wet at sfo. so wet runways. it's going to get stormy for the morning commute. drying out sunday and monday. today it's a level one. tomorrow we make it a strong, level three storm on our

exclusive storm impact scale. that runs until saturday morning. downpours, wind gusts with 35-40 miles per hour. mudflows over the burn area is a big concern. mudslides, debris flows, high power lines tree toppling, moderate risk. it's almost as if somebody pointed a hose at us and just sits there. flood watch has been issued for all of the north bay, including lake county, solano county, santa cruz mountains. all those areas tomor tomor the saturday. 4:00 a.m., oranges and yellows, that's the focus of the rain. moderate to heavy. elsewhere, lighter rain. but the south bay, you're not seeing a whole lot until 5:00

a.m. the rainfall picks up in intensity around 8:00 a.m. you will notice pops of oranges. the morning commute is going to be nasty for many of you. noontime, the rain begins to ease a little bit, only to pick up later on at night. 5:00 p.m., more scattered in nature. 7:00 p.m., reds showing up tomorrow night, potential for thunderstorms. going into saturday morning, we do have another wave of strong winds and heavy rain coming through here, so saturday morning, 4:00 a.m. to 5:00 a.m., you will notice that rainfall activities. then we start seeing the rain easing up. it's going to dry out and clear out saturday afternoon through sunday and monday. rainfall totals look like this. this is taking you through saturday morning. most of you in the one to three-inch category. the peninsula in the south bay, in the rain shadow, much less than that. in the sierra, flood watch, that includes the foothills and mountains. excessive rain on top of high snow levels and snowpack will mean flooding will be rapidly
