get up and get going. >> this is abc7 mornings. the rain is still soaking most of the bay area right now. how long will it last? and will it dampen your plans this weekend? it's saturday, april 7th. good morning, and thanks for being with us. i'm chris nguyen. we are definitely off to a wet start across the bay. here's meteorologist frances dinglasan in for lisa argen and tracking live doppler 7 for us. >> good morning, everyone. flooding still a concern over the next few hours as heavy rain moves through the bay area. i will show you live doppler 7. last few hours the areas of yellow and on are sliding south. right now heavier rain in south of san francisco through "gma" we have had reports of flooding and debris flow. we will zoom in a little bit to san francisco. flooding reported on 101 near al mainy a short while ago in the past hour. also check out some of this heavier rain. areas of orange and yellow. up to an inch of rain an hour. that's the precipitation rate as this system quickly moves

through parts of the peninsula. also look out for debris flow, mud and rock slide reported along highway 92 near half moon bay. even in the east bay we are seeing some of the heavier rain removing lieu 680 in danville as well as in san ramon. we are ranking the storm at 3 on the storm impact scale. it lasts the next few hours. flooding is still a problem because everything is saturated. we could see anywhere from two and a half inches in the coastal and mountains. and up to another inch and a half in the bay area. play by bay over the next hours. by company we will see heavier rain in santa cruz and san jose. and notice it quickly starts to slide south. the full weekend forecast coming up. in san francisco more than 10,000 pg&e customers have power again in the lower knob hill area. cornell barnard is live in city with the latest update for us. >> reporter: there is good news and bad news this morning. the rain keeps falling.

and yes some people do have their power back. but we just found a new power out an here in the marina district. we are at marina and fillmore, where a lot of the lights, including this traffic light, is out. pg&e is working up the block. max, if you pan over you can see pg&e crews working right up here on fillmore street. we don't know the cause of the outage. and we don't know how many people are impacted. but it's been quite a while, several hours here in san francisco. the good news is the power is back on to 10,000-plus customers in the lower knob hill area after equipment in an underground vault failed just after midnight. crews worked through the night to repair it. it was restored just a short time ago. but for hours and hours block after block was left in the dark, including a hot of the high-rise hotels not far from the lower knob hill area. guests who were staying in san

francisco are trying to make the best of it. >> i'm in san francisco for a conference. i am an academic. we are traveling around right now for the night. kind of an off time. and the power went out. we are staying at the hilton right now. and yeah we are kind of seeing the power go out and people are dealing with it. >> reporter: check this out. this was our drive across the golden gate bridge. about an hour and a half ago. it was wet and very, very windy. both hands on the wheel. if you are driving anywhere in the bay area in the next couple of hours be careful we are trying to get to the bottom of this power outage in the marina district. abc7 news. a large kree came down in walnut creek blocking theiss valley boulevard. the tree took town power loins. the chp closed the street until the tree and the wires could be

removed. abc7 news was also in mill brae with an oak fell across hillcrest boulevard blocking the only exit from the cul-de-sac. public works crews were on the scene to fear clear out the fallen tree. the tree was in the front yard of a home but it fell into the stree and thou one was hurt. in the east bay, the storm is also toppling trees this one fell onto a home in lafayette. carlos >> reporter: the sound of rain can be peaceful at times but flooding is a concern for north bay area residents. >> i heard it all night long. i could hear it. i looked at the window and it was flowing pretty good. >> reporter: residents in this mobile home park live next to a creek. they are no strangers to flooding. especially during a really wet system. >> i thought for sure we were going to be under water. they must have come around and

cleaned the drains. >> reporter: no homes were flooded but a portion of the roner park expressway was closed after it was overtaken by high waters. even so, some decided to chance it. many of the rural roads have been flooded out forcing drivers to turn around. not so for joe richardson. >> it's never deep. so we always go this way. >> reporter: you are not intimidated by these waters? >> no not on this road. >> reporter: it's always safer to heed the warnings signs and not take the risk, like this driver who thought he could safely go through. instead, he was forced to stop and come back. >> there was already a rescue out here earlier today. you get stuck in the water and you don't think it's that deep. it gets deep quick and you don't know it and it's too late. >> reporter: as long as the rain is steady these residents don't seem to mind it one bit. >> we like it. we need it. let it rain. >> reporter: carlos sal saido, abc7 news. there is fear of flooding in mill valley where in some parts more than five inches fell yesterday. abc7 news reporter katie utehs

has more. >> it's at 6.64 feet and the tide is starting to go down. >> reporter: they check the creek as rain pounds the bay area. >> we just passed the high tide moments ago. the next one is at 4:00 in the morning. and there is going to be rain overnight. as long as that passes without a problem we should be all right. >> reporter: police warned sycamore park residents to move cars because of potential flooding. >> we put our cars in the driveway, which we don't normally do. >> reporter: dennis recalls the flood of 2005. >> 17 cars were flooded on this street. we had one that was flooded, and we saved it. it was mess. it was mess. >> reporter: the roads have been a mess with weather-related crashes. in voyage a vallejo -- in vallejo, a driver lost control on

highway 37 hitting a light pole and injuring two people. >> it brings a lot of hazards. >> reporter: a garbage truck clipped lines knocking out power. >> when it is raining like this there is a higher chance of electricity traveling down our lines. >> reporter: sycamore park residents are cautiously optimistic the storm will pass without trouble. >> we get concerned when that storm drain down there backs up then we know water is going to come into the street. in sonoma county, a chp officer hydroplaned into a flooded ditch last night. the officer was not injured but a tow truck had to pull the chp vehicle free. first responders were busy yesterday in the santa cruz mountains. county fire responded to multiple crashes including this truck that tipped onto its side. lane closures brought traffic to a crawl from the morning through the evening commute. yosemite valley is closed this morning due to flooding concerns. the park also canceled all camping reservations today. as for the rest of the park it is open this morning but that could change depending on the weather.

taking a live look at sfo this morning the runway is glistening with rain. more than 140 flights were canceled yesterday and average delays were nearly an hour. some flights were diverted to oakland. both oakland and san jose airports also had dozens of delays. the weather rained out last night's giants game against the dodgers at at&t park. it has been rescheduled as part aft doubleheader later this month. this is just the sixth rainout at at&t park since it opened and the first since 2006. don't forget you can get a minute by minute precipitation forecast inside the new abc 7 news accuweather app. search accuweather in the app store to download it. time now is 608. frances dinglasan is in for lisa argen tracking the forecast. >> the wind has died down so advisory has been canceled. check out the wet ride across the san mateo bridge.

this saturday. and we are taking a live look at live doppler 7. we have been keeping an eye on this all morning long as the rain hits the bay area. you can see a lot of green on your screen. frances returns in a little bit with the full accuweather forecast. and lets us know who to expect in terms of when this rain will finally go away. first, developing news out of sonoma county. the ntsb is investigating a small plane crash in petaluma that left one person dead. it happened around 10:30 last night on manor lane about four miles north of the municipal airport. the sheriff's office confirms the male pilot was the only person on board and was heading to the san diego area. the press democrat reports deputies patrolling the area found the crash site after spotting what looked like a structure in flames. officials are expected to release more details about the crash later this morning. searchers looking for a missing east bay woman found a dead body yesterday.

abc7 news was at grizzly peak boulevard in oakland where a white prius had gone over a 100 foot cliff. the missing woman had also driven a white prius. officials haven't released the woman's name yet. official don't know what caused the crash or how it happened. her boyfriend reported her missing earlier this week. >> i said you know that grizzly peak she may have gone off a cliff. >> the boyfriend was in hawaii this week and is cutting his vacation short to return to the bay area. health officials are confirming six cases of measles in the bay area. in santa clara county officials there confirmed five cases of measles over the past month. another case was reported in alameda county. officials are advising all residents to make sure they have had the meezels -- measles vaccine but say the threat to

the public is very low. around schwarzenegger is recovering from heart suj reat home. facebook posts will be clearly labelled and will show who paid for them. the groups who pay for those ads also have to prove their identities. at the same time facebook confirmed yet it secretly deleted messages sent by ceo mark zuckerberg found in other people's inboxes. the firm cited corporate security. on tuesday, zuckerberg is slated to testify in washington. prepare for sensory overload. silicon valley comicon is in san jose this weekend. it's as star studded as it is educational. katie marzullo has the story from "gma".

>> i got a little bit wet and it gave me anxiety because i don't like getting it wet. >> reporter: if only there were some storm troopers around to help her out. in san jose, katie marzullo, abc7 news. now an accuweather update from abc7 mornings. >> it's wet morning indeed. here's a look at live doppler 7. over the last few hours the rain has been pounding through the bay area. but this subtropical moisture is starting to slide south as you can see. we are starting to see some heavier rain move along the lower part of the peninsula along the dunbar ton bridge and east of 101 in palo alto and just moving past redwood city right now. the precip rain has been an inch an hour in the heavier rain. an advisory is in effect for the sonoma county area through 8:00 this morning. also in marin county a flood advisory for the next hour. it should be expiring at 7:00

this morning. most of the bay area is under a flood watch through 11:00 this morning. this is all due to heavy rain. and we are still watching out for some flooding on the roadways, especially for small streams, debris flow, which means mud and rock slides are possible. we have seen some of that this morning. the wind advisory was just canceled. you can see why. it is a bit calmer now, although gusting still to 24 miles an hour at sfo. on abc7's exclusive storm impact scale this is a strong storm. it lasts just the next few hours. drenching rain with flooding the main concern. we could get two and a half inches along the coastal ranges along parts of the peninsula. also anywhere from half an inch to inch and a half around the bay area. here's the forecast animation. we just updated it. in the next half hour it's showing much less rain. by company most of the moisture has moved towards the east. and then by 8:00 this morning, just a few pockets of light

showers through parts of the south bay. and 9:00, we will see mostly cloudy conditions. but by this afternoon some partly cloudy skies. a little bit of clearing with some isolated showers. you can see the areas of light green there, just a spotty stray shower possible throughout the day. temperatures have been really mild because of the subtropical moisture. so we are still in the upper 50s to low 60s. san francisco, 59. mountain view, 61 degrees. san jose, even at 62 degrees. highs today will be in the 60s for everybody. 62 degrees for the game at at&t park in san francisco today. san rafael, 64. antioch, 66. as well as san jose. and you notice those areas of green. again, we could see the showers throughout the afternoon. but nothing very heavy like what we've seen i don't have night. i want to take you up to the sierra. because as this system moves south and southeast they are going to continue getting the rain throughout the day today. some rain and even some heavier

rain along 80 right now. north auburn as you make your way up towards bring canyon. for the sierra the flood watch is in effect until tomorrow morning. there is even a flood warning especially for the truckee river, in that area until tomorrow night. here is the accuweather seven-day forecast. so we've got this wet, rainy morning. but you notice it's going to quickly clear. this level 3 storm will almost be out of the picture this the next few hours. by sunday, bright and breezy. and check out monday. spring warmth. some of our inland locations near 80 degrees. quite a about it of a change in the next couple of days. on tuesday, increasing clouds with a chance of showers returning to the bay area. but this one will be a level 1 storm. rainy and gusty for wednesday. then thursday and friday another chance the dry out. >> certainly a mixed bag in the forecast. >> a little bit of everything this week. >> frances, thanks. just ahead, the big project to develop candle stick point. yl developers have jus

check out our hoodline section on abc7news.com. i'm jessica castro, abc7 news. there are new developments in the plans to revitalize the old candle stick park. according to the san francisco business times, the developer of a planned 635,000 square foot shopping mall has put the whole project on hold. five point holdings would not perform that to abc7 news but its ceo says the company is still discussing the retail configuration because of the current economic instability in retail. five point holdings says it wants to quote make sure the project will work for the future. today is governor jerry brown's 80th birthday. brown was born in san francisco on april 7th 1938. he attended st. ignatius high school. he graduated from uc berkeley in 1955. the governor's press office tweeted out this picture yesterday of a newspaper article of when brown turned 40 back in 1978 when he was governor the first time around. he is currently serving his

good morning east bay. let's get up and get going. >> this is abc7 mornings. the storm continues across most of the bay area at least for the next hour or so. how will this affect your weekend plans? thanks for waking up with us. i'm chris nguyen. we are starting this half hour with a quick look at the weather. here's meteorologist frances dinglasan tracking the conditions where you live. >> good morning, everyone. we had heavy rain pound the bay area overnight. we are waking up to the tail end of this subtropical moisture that is starting to move south and east. check out live doppler 7. you can see how quickly it has been moving the last few hours. we have had some problems. we have had debris flow and flood reports in the bay area.

in fact there have been rock and mudslides reported on highway 92 near the half moon bay area. heavier rain indicated by orange there moving alone 580 through dublin and in livermore. in notice the heavier band of rain, the line of rain from the south is heading towards santa cruz and south of san jose. on abc7's storm impact scale this level 3 storm will only last through the next hour. flooding is still a concern because everything has been drenched already. and again, along the coastal ranges we could see up to two and a half inches. around the bay area, possibly another inch to inch and a half. here's hoyt looks. in fact we just updated te latest forecast model. it shows the system clearing through the bay area even faster. by 7:30 moving south towards monterey and gilroy. in the 8:00 hour we will start to be drying out. chris? >> frances, thank you. in san francisco, pg&e crews are working to restore power

throughout parts of the city. abc7 news reporter cornell barnard is live in the marina district. cornell, are they making any progress out there? >> reporter: yes, slowly but surely. for the first time in hours we are actually seeing a break in the rain here in san francisco. but problems not far behind. look. we found a power outage out here at fillmore and marina. traffic signals are out. be careful if you are in the area. treat it like a four-way stop. here's video we shot earlier. we found a pg&e crew right up the block working to restore people to about four dozen people this this particular part of the marina district near fillmore. a lot of lights out at many homes here in the area. some good news, though, in the other pat of the city, where power is back on to 10,000-plus customers in the lower knob hill area. equipment in an underground vault failed just after

down. we might lose power. there could be impacts to our sewer system and we wouldn't have strams operational at that time we might have problems with our water system. we might have to shut water off to the buildings and the lodging and the valley. >> reporter: the closure forced some to change their plans. >> we came from australia. we wanted to visit here but looks like we have to go before 5:00. maybe head back another day once it's open. >> reporter: but those we spoke with seemed to be willing to make the most of what time they had in the park. >> this morning. we came in this morning. planned to come up for the day. it's been beautiful. it's fun to see the pack in

clouds and beautiful in a different way. >> reporter: the park service says the plan is to reopen the yosemite valley as soon as the weather permits. >> season the storm passes we will get crews out there assess systems, our power systems, our sewer system, make sure the things are operational and we will reopen the valley as soon as we can. >> reporter: in yosemite national park, abc 7 news. you see stormy weather where you live take a photo or a video and share it with us using the #abc7 now on social media. be sure you are in a safe place before you take a picture. time now is 6:34. at least 14 people are dead and 14 others injured after a bus carrying a canadian youth hockey team was involved in a crash. a tractor trailer t boned the bus last night. 28 people including the driver were on the bus. three of those injured are in critical condition.

officials haven't identified any of the victims. the humboldt wherein coast made up of players under the age of 20 were on their way to a game on the way to the crash. mattis signed a memo calling for the deployment of 4,000 troops to the u.s./mexico border to start right away. texas and arizona announced plans to deploy about 400 troops. it comes days after president trump's call for troops to help target drug trafficking and illegal crossing. texas which has the largest area of border with mecke cosent troops last night. arizona plans to send troops next week. new mexico and california have not announced plans to send troops so far. happening today, a memorial for thousands of american and filipino soldiers who died during the baton death march. this is the 76th anniversary of the march. allied and pill fien soldiers

happening today, recreational salmon fishing season begins. but the rain might eap keep some people away. the monterey herald says the lack of salmon is also deterring some fishermen on this opening day. the number of salmon caught south of pigeon point during last year's recreational season was 46% below average from 2012 to 2016. fishermen are allowed to catch two salmon per day. the season remains open until the end of the month. frances dinglasan is in for lisa argen this morning tracking the accuweather forecast for news this system is quickly moving south right now. i will show you a live shot

this subtropical system. live doppler 7 over the next few hours showing us how fast it's moving to the south and east. and currently we are seeing heavier rain along 580 into livermore and the ata mont pass. as i pull out you will notice more of the heavier rain is heading to the san mateo coastline, santa cruz, and through gilroy right now. there is a flood advisory. it has been just been issued for parts of the coast along the peninsula through santa cruz and watsonville. it extends for the next hour and expires at 7:456789 there is a flood advisory through the sonoma county area. that expires at 8:00. flooding still possible through petaluma. most of the bay area under flood watch because of in heavy rain. we have seen flooding on the roads. possibly flooding at some small streams. debris flow mud and rock slides reported along highway 9 the

near half moon bay. winds dyed down quite a bit but it's gusting to 24 at sfo. earlier wind advisories through solano county has been canceled. flooding is still a concern. we have had up to two and a half inches along the coastal range and another inch or inch and a half in the bay area just this rn mo. i will show you the forecast animation. this system abruptly ends. by 7:30 only seeing pockets of rain through parts of the south bay. it's clearing out faster than we originally thought. by 9:00 it will be south of monterey. by noon we will see some partly cloudy conditions. now the areas of light green still show pockets of light showers that could pop up throughout the afternoon. but they will be very light indeed. here's a live shot in san jose where we are still seeing some wet roads. but it is also already starting to clear in san francisco. currently 59. notice how mild the temperatures

are because of the subtropical moisture. a lot of low 60s out there. mountain view, 61. san jose, 62 degrees. highs today will be in the 60s as well. 62 for san francisco. santa rosa, 64. oakland, 63. fremont and palo alto, 65. and san jose, 66 degrees. now, i want to take you up to the tahoe area because that's where we are going to continue seeing the rain throughout today and tomorrow. and so you see some heavier rain through highway 80 towards north auburn moving towards blue canyon. for the tahoe area in the sierra the flood watch continues until tomorrow morning. be careful if you are driving there. there is a lot of rain today. a flood warning in effect for the truckee river near truckee until tomorrow night. so levels are high there but they will drop overnight tonight into tomorrow. here's the accuweather seven-day forecast. we have got this rainy morning. but it is going to end very soon. and then we will see partly cloudy conditions this afternoon. bright and breezy tomorrow.
