new details on a demolition disaster as this silo lands on a library. and it's being called the uber for kids. a new ride-sharing app. would you let your kids get in the car? a good monday morning to you all. we begin with breaking news of a reportedly deadly missile attack in syria. the pentagon is denying responsibility. >> but there are unconfirmed reports that israel may have carried out the attack, which targeted a syrian air base. of course, this follows a suspected chemical attack over the weekend that killed more than 40 people and left many others including children struggling to breathe. president trump is warning of a big price to pay and he's taking direct aim at vladimir putin. abc's arlette saenz is following all the late breaking developments from washington. good morning. >> reporter: kendis and diane, good morning. nikki haley, the u.s. ambassador to the u.n., says the u.s.

and eight other countries have called for an emergency u.n. security council meeting today to discuss the alleged attack. she tweeted, quote, strong action is needed. these horrifying images appear to show the aftermath of another suspected chemical attack in syria. children gasping for air as workers wash an unknown substance off their bodies. the strikes came just after dusk on saturday in the district of duma near the capital of damascus. at least 40 people were killed. while the u.s. assesses the ey conducted those strikes. diane and kendis. >> they're accusing f-15 warplanes of carrying out those strikes. arlette, thank you. authorities in berlin say they have foiled a potential plan to attack the city's half marathon. they've detained six men accused of discussing a stabbing rampage. one suspect allegedly knows the attacker from the 2016 truck attack on the berlin christmas market and had been under surveillance. police say sunday's race was

never in danger. the attorney for adult film star stormy daniels is moving forward with his effort to question president trump under oath. michael avenatti filed a new motion last night seeking to depose the president and his lawyer, michael cohen, this after a judge ruled the initial filing was premature. the new request mentions the president's claim last week that he was not aware of a $130,000 payment that cohen made to daniels before the election. daniels is trying to prove that a nondiclosure agreement she signed is now invalid. her lawyer also tweeted a photo of daniels with a forensic artist. she appears to be combing through pictures trying to identify a man she claims threatened her to try to keep her quiet about her alleged affair with the president. epa chief scott pruitt is taking heat from more members of his own party because of his controversial spending habits. three republican senators are now calling for pruitt to address his pricey security and the condo he rented from a lobbyist's wife.

south carolina's lindsey graham, maine's susan collins and louisiana's john kennedy all say pruitt needs to be more transparent. kennedy said pruitt is acting like a juvenile. pruitt's supporters praise him for being efficient but his predecessor accuses him of running from the issues. >> and i think we don't just have to look at whether scott pruitt is becoming the swamp he was really supposed to be draining but also look at his lack of transparency within the agency. he's hiding in his own office. >> the associated press reports pruitt's round the clock security has cost taxpayers nearly $3 million but a spokesman says it's necessary because of unprecedented death threats. president trump has praised pruitt's effectiveness at rolling back regulations. we turn now to the outpouring of support for that small community in central canada devastated by a bus crash involving their junior hockey team. of the 15 people killed, the

vast majority were players, each of them between 16 and 21 years old. ♪ overnight remembering the hockey heroes of humboldt, a tight-knit town of 5,000 in rural saskatchewan. ♪ thousands packing the broncos home including the canadian prime minister, justin trudeau, honoring the junior hockey team involved in that deadly crash. >> this tragedy has devastated our families, our humboldt broncos organization, our community, saskatchewan, canada, and our world. >> reporter: the team's president choking up as he read the names of the players who lost their lives. >> connor lukan, evan thomas. >> reporter: the broncos were heading to a playoff game when their bus collided with a tractor trailer carrying peat moss. 15 people died including the team's head coach, the bus driver and several young players.

>> logan boulet, number 27. >> reporter: logan boulet, a team member, who was taken off life support helped turn tragedy into hope. family members say the 21-year-old donated his organs saving six lives. >> offer a moment of silence. >> reporter: the tributes pouring in from the nhl, the chicago blackhawks and the winnipeg jets wearing broncos jerseys in tribute. a gofundme page to support the team has raised more than $4.5 million. the donations coming from nearly 60,000 people from more than 50 countries. and this moving photo of three of the surviving players holding hands from their hospital beds has now been shared by people all around the world. the investigation into the cause now under way. six people were killed in a crash at that same intersection several years ago. we are told that there's a stop sign there and trees limit visibility. police are looking at weather conditions and any potential mechanical issues with the vehicles.

the workweek is starting off with more frigid conditions for many of us including snow in the midwest and the conditions won't be as bad as they were in sioux city, south dakota, on sunday when this allegiant air flight skidded off the runway. let's take a look at what we can expect for this forecast on this monday morning. good morning. snow shifts this morning as the cold slides across the great lakes region and we'll have widespread snow around portions of the great lakes. one to three towards chicago but thee to six throughout the dakotas and the southwest corner of minnesota. snow showers covering all of pennsylvania. now, for the south, a problem is drier conditions. spotty showers in some areas but it's the dry parched conditions from wednesday through friday with strong winds gusting up to 40 to 60 miles per hour with abnormally warm weather. i'm accuweather meteorologist paul williams. coming up, gas prices on the rise.

this was no movie stunt, although it did happen in hollywood. a man climbed this 200-foot construction crane carrying a u.s. flag. he was up there for three hours with no shirt, no shoes, zero cares. police were apparently preparing to deploy drones to get a closer view when he finally came down. no word yet on why he did it. facebook is taking action against another data analytics firm after learning it may have accessed users' personal information without their knowledge.

cubeyou is now suspended from facebook after reportedly using personality quizzes to help marketers find customers. facebook says it's investigating. meanwhile, facebook says it will begin notifying users today if their personal data was accessed by the political consulting firm cambridge analytica. ceo mark zuckerberg testifies on capitol hill tomorrow. a new warning about gas prices. they've increased by an average of 8 cents in recent days. analysts say that's only the start. they predict prices this summer could be the highest since 2014. all of this because oil is getting more expensive due to production cuts. gas prices are already 30 cents higher than this time last year. breaking overnight dozens of high school students are injured after a charter bus crash on long island, new york. video shows the top of their bus sheared off after hitting a low overpass. they were returning from the airport after a trip overseas. officials say the bus driver is not from the area and didn't know buses were not allowed on that parkway. six people suffered serious injuries. residents of a small town in

developing story. police across the southeast are on the lookout for a 23-year-old man accused of killing his mother and a friend. they say casey lawhorn should be considered armed and dangerous. authorities say lawhorn left his home in tennessee after shooting both victims. he then posted a detailed statement about the incident on facebook. >> lawhorn appears to have confessed to the killing saying his mother, quote here, started screaming the worst scream i've ever heard. movies really don't do justice to how true terror sounds. his statement has now been confirmed by authorities. his car was found last night in mississippi but, of course, he was not inside. one of the most popular life coaches in the world is saying he's sorry. tony robbins has come under fire for some controversial comments about the me too movement. video of the incident went viral generating nearly 200,000 tweets but now robbins says he's committed to being part of the inclusion. erielle reshef has more. >> reporter: he's the best-selling self-help guru known for rousing speeches. >> massive action.

suggesting anything other than my profound admiration for the me too movement saying he too was a victim of abuse, something he spoke about with abc's robin roberts in 2016. >> i suffered so much i hate suffering. i'll do anything to help somebody not suffer and live a life that they deserve. >> reporter: and robbins says sometimes the teacher has to become the student. he now wants to be connected with the women of the me too movement. erielle reshef, abc news, new york. bill cosby's sexual assault retrial begins today. he faces multiple counts of drugging and molesting a woman at his home near philadelphia 14 years ago. cosby claims the encounter was consensual. last year's trial ended with a hung jury. one difference in the retrial is the jurors this time will hear from six of cosby's accusers instead of one. prosecutors are looking to establish a pattern of abuse. the apartment in new york's trump tower that burned over the weekend did not have any sprinklers. the owner was killed in that fire. as a real estate developer

president trump lobbied against a law in the 1990s that would have required sprinklers be added to older apartments. one city councilman is now calling for legislation to add sprinklers to buildings that don't have them. the cause of the fire at trump tower remains under investigation. all right, we turn now to sports and that thriller in augusta. patrick reed winning his first major. reed hit this final putt that you see there. he was pumped up, his fists there in celebration of his first major tournament victory and he kept his cool down the stretch keeping pace with impressive rounds by the golfers rickie fowler and jordan spieth. reed's one-stroke victory earned him nearly $2 million and that lovely, lovely green jacket. an unusual bench-clearing altercation in st. louis. the diamondbacks coach torey lovullo was arguing with the umpire about balls and strikes and then what happened was yadier molina didn't like something and went after him.

we'll keep an eye on that zipper truck. the san mateo bridge is lookingg good. about a 14-minute drive. first reports of an accident in the walnut creek area. we'll get our live shot in a couple minutes. b.a.r.t. police say a good samaritan likely saved the lives of two people. >> a man randomly attacked and stabbed them at the coliseum station over the weekend. the suspect identified as 32-year-old robert dolph of san francisco. a man in his 50s is in critical condition. his sister in her 60s is in stable condition. dolph faces attempted murder charges now. detectives say he confessed to the stabbing but did not give a motive. >> from our live desk this morning, a missile attack on a syrian air base.

we're now learning who may be behind the attack. russia says israel was behind the attack. syrian state run media shows missiles fired against the air base. russia's defense ministry says syria shot down five of eight missiles. the other three landed in the western part of the base. there have been an unknown number of casualties. a pentagon spokesperson says the united states is not conducting air strikes against the country. another big development from north korea. officials say the north korean government is ready to discuss the nuclear program with the u.s. this increases the likelihood of a summit between president trump and kim j
