doppler 7. no radar returns, not expecting rain from the clouds. a little dimmer sunshine today. a lot more warmth. temperatures in the mid 40s to near 50 at 7:00. 67 to 69 across the board at noon. mid 60s at the coast. mid to upper 70s around the bay and inland at 4:00. 62 at the coast, 70 to 73 for our bay and inland areas. now something not so comfortable. >> busy out there. a couple of problems. sky 7 is over 880 in the southbound direction before 92. three lanes blocked. you can see the big rig involved. chp, it looks like they have all lanes stopped right now to get by. that probably is an on-ramp there that you see. there's chp in lanes, this is southbound 880 near highway 92. looks like they're trying to clear that out with all lanes blocked right there. the other problem is on the san mateo bridge with a motorcycle accident. that one is blocking the right lane. it's been out there for quite

some time. we did have an earlier sig alert in north livermore. that's been cleared. we'll head back to the peninsula near poplar avenue with an accident southbound there in a couple minutes. >> thank you, sue. police are thanking a couple of total strangers who intervened in a knife attack at a b.a.r.t. station over the weekend. >> investigators say that stabbing appears to be random. nbc news reporter amy hollyfield live at walnut creek. good morning, amy. >> reporter: good morning, natasha. commuters tell us this is not the story they want to hear as they head toward their trains this morning. some tell us they aren't surprised to hear about erratic behavior on b.a.r.t. turning violent. police arrested 32-year-old robert dolph of san francisco. witnesses say he had been plut tering to himself and shouting on the b.a.r.t. train before following two passengers off the train at the coliseum station and stabbing them near the fare gate. police say the suspect confessed but gave no motive. they say it appears to be totally random.

riders tell us it isn't a shock to hear about the mentally ill on b.a.r.t. >> you see it every now and then, somebody will get on b.a.r.t., they'll start raging about something and everybody kind of shuts it's concerning, yeah. >> reporter: the two victims are siblings. a 50-year-old man who is in critical condition and a woman in her 60s who is in fair condition. police say a stranger jumped in to help them and likely saved their lives. this is the amazing part of this story, that the stranger grabbed the knife from the suspect and held him until police arrived. police are calling him a brave hero. live from walnut creek, amy hollyfield, abc 7 news. >> amy, thank you. a man suspected of sexually assaulting a jogger in palo alto in broad daylight is off the

streets. 29-year-old eduardo antonio chaf var yeah diaz was arrested. a jogger told police she was attacked on a trail and was assaulted. palo alto police say he's been linked to a similar attack in oakland. san francisco police investigating gunfire that sent people ducking for cover on geary boulevard. according to police, two men were shooting at two other men near baker street last night. it doesn't appear anyone got hit by the gunfire. several people saw the shooting and called 911. >> they were running. yeah, they ducked in between -- first there was the first set, and then once the second one started, they were running. >> some of the 911 reports said about ten shots and we've located around that number of shell casings. >> the nearby kaiser permanente medical center went into lockdown. no arrests have been made.

police are warning residents about fraud due to credit card skimming. police say gas pumps are easy targets because they're unattended and can be accessed easily. contra costa county firefighters say a small grass fire in martinez is suspicious in nature. it started in an open space near granger's wharf. investigators say because of the weekend rain leaving the grass wet, they think someone may have set the fire. facebook has lost a pretty famous user this morning. >> apple co-founder steve wozniak says he has left facebook because of growing concern over the way the menlo park company treats the private information on its users. woz says he would rather pay for facebook than have his personal information exploited for advertising. he gave a shout-out to apple for

everyone else in the mid to upper 40s. if you're out and about today, high clouds and sunshine. let the umbrella rest another day. cool this morning, warm this afternoon. warm at the coast as we hit the upper 630s there. peninsula 52 at 8:00. 67 at noon. mid to upper 70s from 1:00 through 7:00. how about our inland east bay valleys. 52 this morning. 71 at noon. nearing 80 between 4:00 and 6:00 down to 730 at 8:00. easy to see why today is the warmest day this week. been a troubling morning. how is it going? >> not good at all. back to the bay bridge toll plaza, you can see emergency crew trying to get through there. traffic is stacked up there because we have three lanes blocked with an accident. sky seven is heading there. looking at 880 there where we had an earlier accident hayward near 92. that one has finally been cleared out of lanes. on the san mateo bridge itself looking to clear one lane of

traffic. so that's all jammed up. so again, three lanes blocked on the bay bridge incline section with a motorcycle accident there. looking to clear that. it looks like sky 7 is not quite there yet. so we will check back in just a few minutes on that bay bridge accident. b.a.r.t. would be a great way to get around all these troubles. >> a lot going on. thank you, sue. the san francisco sheriff's office wants to expand its body program in city jails. according to the examiner, the sheriff is looking for $400,000 to pay for 400 more devices. the cameras would go to deputies at each city jail and deputies on patrol at zuckerberg san francisco general hospital. body cameras were given to 40 deputies in august following at least two alleged incidents where deputies forced inmaegts to fight one another oopsz. three deputies face criminal charges in connection to those fights. apparently airlines are getting better in many areas except for arguably the most important thing.

the barriers. she had some sort of writing or paint on her body. she was topless. police quickly tackled her and arrested her. unclear exactly what or if she was protesting. as we've been reporting throughout the morning. today opening statements begin in cosby's retrial on sex assault charges. you see him here arriving. he's accused of drugging and molesting a woman in his home in 2004. back to you. 20 years ago donald trump lobbied against retrofitting all high-rises in new york with sprinklers. abc news is quoting a "new york times" article from that time that shows now president trump lobbying against the devices arguing the retrofit was too expensive. trump tower does not have sprinklers on its residential floors. under a 1999 law buildings like trump tower were grandfathered in and not required to be retrofitted with sprinklers. over the weekend a resident of the trump tower died in a fire on the 50th floor

the attorney for stormy daniels who says she had an affair with the president in 2006 is trying to depose the president again. >> the attorney filed a motion last night against president trump and his personal attorney michael cohen. on thursday a federal judge temporarily blocked the attempt to depose president trump ruling the motion was premature. white house officials have denied the president's affair altogether. abc late night star jimmy kimmel has apologized to sean hannity. earlier this month kimmel mocked first lapd difficult melania trump's accent. hannity took exception and the two have traded insults including kimmel intimating that hannity's support for president trump has a sexual overtone. yesterday kimmel apologized while saying the engs changes have been, in his words, fun, he doesn't want to add to the individual yol coming from both sides. hannity will address kimmel's statements today. u.s. airlines is getting better at many things. getting you to your destination on time is not one of them.

a warmer push of air and why our highs will be so much warmer today. a bit milder, mostly cloudy. we have chances of rain in the extended. temperatures doing the spring seesaw, up and down. 68 at half moon bay, 70 in san francisco and richmond. low to mid 70s around the bay. mid 70s to near 80 in the inland areas in the north bay, east bay and the south bay. if you're going to the game, diamondbacks taking on the giants, 63 degrees at 7:15. cool 59 by 10:00. dropping down to 48 in half moon bay. we have lakeport, napa, redwood city at 49. most of us 50 to 54 degrees. a little milder this morning. most of the day tuesday will be increasing clouds or thickening clouds except for in the north bay where you can see we've got showers at 9:00. at noon they start to move into the bay. and then by 4:00 they're in the south bay. notice they're not very strong. they don't last very long and

they don't cover much in the way of real estate. then we'll go to wednesday afternoon at 4:00. that's when the heavier showers roll through during the evening and early overnight hours. we'll get maybe a tenth to a third of an inch of ray in the south bay. warmer for friday and saturday. the dry cold front brings us back to average by sunday. hi, sue. >> major problem on the bay bridge with a sig alert issued. we have three lanes blocked and a motorcycle down. here is what it looks like at the toll plaza. bumper-to-bumper. you'll have plenty of time to watch the sunrise in your rear view mirror. let's look at sky 7 live over the accident. motorcycle down. the ambulance just arrived on scene. the rider is down in lanes there. they are attending to the driver of the motorcycle. you can see the green motorcycle perched up there lanes. traffic is squeezing by on the two left lanes causing major delays getting into san francisco. this is on the incline section of the bay bridge.

from that point all the way back into the macarthur maze and silling onto 80, 580 and 880 on your approach. if you can, take b.a.r.t. into san francisco, avoid the bay bridge. we had an earlier problem on the san mateo bridge. that bridge still has not recovered. dumbarton is faring a little better but taking the brunt of the problems on the san mateo bridge. not a great way to start your monday morning i'm afraid. >> sue, that is bad. thanks for the update. will set up what it's calling an independent election commission to look at how social media is influencing elections. the announcement comes as zuckerberg gets ready to testify before the senate and house tomorrow and wednesday. he'll be in the hot seat to answer questions about facebook's data collection and privacy practices. zuckerberg already in the nation's capitol this morning for meetings throughout the day. he will be meeting with some lawmakers ahead of his testimony tomorrow. starting today facebook sal lerting you if your facebook data was used in the cambridge analytical scandal. >> facebook is suspending another data firm over data sharing. this one based in san francisco. nbc 7's janine de la vega live in menlo park. >> reporter: a lot of people are wondering if their information was improperly shared on facebook because of this privacy eak. today people will find out if they are affected. now, if you are one of the affected facebook users, you're going to get a detailed message

on the top of your news feed. this all comes as facebook has suspended san francisco firm cube you after allocations surfaced it was misleading users. cnbc reports data was collected from personality quizzes. users were told it was for academic research. t facebook first came under fire last month when cambridge analytical was accused of collecting the personal information of up to 87 million facebook users. that company worked for the trump campaign during the 2016 election campaign. facebook says most of the affected users are in the u.s. now, everyone who uses facebook will get a notice titled "protecting your information." in that there's going to be a link to what third party apps you're using and what sort of information is being shared. reporting live from general low park, janine de la vega, abc 7 news. 6:33 now.

this morning youtube is accused of illegally collecting data from some of its youngest users. a complaint filed today claiming the san bruno based company is profiting off young viewers by collecting data and targeting ads to them. youtube's terms of services says it's not for children under 13. in a statement youtube says protecting kids and families has always been a top priority for us. from our live desk this morning, a missile attack on a syrian air base overnight. now russia is saying that israel is responsible. all of this comes after accusations that the syrian regime launched a poison gas attack over the weekend that killed dozens of people. look at this video here. this is from syrian state-run media showing missiles fired against the air base overnight. russia's defense ministry says syria shot down five of eight

missiles. the other three landed in the western part of the base and we don't know yet how many casualties there were. as for u.s. involvement, a pentagon spokesperson says the united states is not conducting air strikes against the country. reggie. >> police investigating the first homicide in six years on norse drive saturday night. they found 23-year-old oshry' lore with multiple gunshot wounds. he died at the scene. authorities believe the murder was the result of a drug deal. >> information led to the fact that the suspect made specific statements during the course of the robbery targeting marijuana. >> the constant in-and-out traffic. i don't know what was going on but i knew it had to be some drugs. >> neighbors say the house where the shooting took place has been linked to problems for the past year. a martinez school district employee is accused of attempting to have sex with a minor. the east bay times reports the

allegations against ahmedish mail don't involve current students of the district. the superintendent saysish meal was hired in 2015 to work full time as an engineer. he's currently on paid leave. a new state bill will be introduced that would require doctors placed on probation to notify patients. it's called the patients' right to know act. each year the licenses of more than 100 doctors in california are revoked or surrendered. cases include sexual misconduct and substance abuse. doctors are currently not required to notify patients about their probationary status. this bill will be introduced at a news conference at 11:00 this morning at the state capitol. the deadline for property owners to clear debris from the north bai wildfires. it applies to victims in sonoma county who opted out of the government sponsored removal program. property owners who don't meet

today's deadline may face penalties from the city and county. aldon smith is in the san francisco county jail. the third time he's found himself there in two months. smith was booked on friday for violating a condition of his electronic monitoring while on bail. his new bail is set at $500,000. smith is due back in court wednesday afternoon. he has pleaded not guilty to domestic violence and other charges. prosecutors say he assaulted his girlfriend on march 3rd. he turned himself in to police. he was arrested again late last month for violating a restraining order. >> you're never more than seven minutes away from my accuweather forecast away from my accuweather forecast. 55 in los altos for the warm spot. san jose at 47 degrees. we've got mid to upper 40s on the peninsula out to the coast. our inland east bay neighborhoods, low to mid 40s in the north bay. san francisco and alameda, about

first, a very busy morning for you. >> unfortunately. welcome back to school and traffic in the morning. an earlier problem on the snij, and a traffic alert on the bay bridge. the result here is a major backup behind the bay bridge. you're looking at 80 westbound approaching the toll plaza. we have reports of an accident at powell street. you can see the ambulance kind of trying to work its way through there. so really tough conditions heading to the bay bridge this morning from all approaches. from 80, 580 and 880. it was a motorcycle down on the incline section that blocked three lanes of traffic for a time. they did issue a sig alert. that's been cleared out of lanes, but, yeah, really tough this morning. perhaps you can take b.a.r.t. into san francisco. the accident has cleared. that's better news. still looking at a monumental delay. an earlier problem on the san mateo bridge, that's been cleared, too. backed up from 880, 92.

we had accidents in the that particular backup. a rough one for two of our major bridges this morning. mass transit, a great way to go if you can. >> funerals will be held this week for the 15 people killed in a canadian bus crash. that bus carrying members of a junior hockey team. mourners packed a hockey arena for a vigil in saskatchewan. the humboldt broncos were headed to a playoff game when their bus collided with a semi trailer on friday. ten young players, two coaches, the bus driver and the team's broadcasters were killed. 14 others were hurt. >> hopefully we can stand together as a group, as a community, as a country together and get through this. >> a gofundme page for the players and therapy families has raised more than $4.5 million so far. a man decided to climb a crane and dangle with it in
