cooler this afternoon, 56 to 60 at noon. rain moves into the north bay at 4:00, 56 to 61. all of us getting wet by about 7:00, mid to upper 50s. dress for the temperatures and the possibility of wet weather. >> got a couple of sprinkles at my house yesterday afternoon. >> let's take a look at the bay bridge toll plaza once again. light conditions at 5:01 on wednesday morning. here the commute takes you to san francisco, under 30 minutes now. slowing out of the central valley per usual. we'll take a look at the drive time. 45, 56 minutes westbound 580. highway 4, a smooth straight shot to concord. from san rafael to san francisco, 20 minutes. we're tracking breaking news overnight in san jose. check out the car that went off the side of the road and into an embankment.

this is on west san carlos and royal avenue. a witness says this all happened just before 1:30 this morning. first responders raced to the scene. it's still not clear what led up to the incident. several people could be seen being loaded into ambulances. round two for facebook ceo mark zuckerberg. >> he was grilled by the senate for five hours. abc 7 news jessica castro live in menlo park. >> reporter: good morning, reggie and natasha. round two will begin in only about two hours. facebook ceo mark zuckerberg will be on capitol hill again facing questions this time from house lawmakers. yesterday he faced questioning from senators about facebook's oll in protecting user data after fallout from the cambridge analytical scandal.

pilot requires the driver to be alert and have hands on the wheel. the crash happened on a clear day with several hundred feet of visibility ahead which means the only way for this accident to have occurred is if mr. huang was not paying attention to the road. >> we know he's not the type who would not have his hands on the steering wheel. he's always been a really careful driver. he has not gotten a ticket in his entire life. >> reporter: the family's lawyer believes tesla is blaming walter huang to distract from the problems with auto pilot. >> the tesla misread the painted red lines on the road and its braking system failed to detect a stationary object ahead. >> that lawyer for the huang family said he doesn't expect to file the complaint until the ntsb wraps up the investigation. we've posted the complete statement on our website, abc7news.com. dan's investigative work on this story has received international

attention. happening today, former 49er and raider aldon smith is due in court after his third arrest in two months. he was booked into san francisco county jail on friday for violating a condition of electronic monitoring while on bail. he has pleaded not guilty to domestic violence and other charges. two suspects wanted in connection with pleasant hill's first murder in six years are in custody. police say keith jones and luther lee shot and killed 23-year-old oshry' lore at a house on norse drive late saturday night. investigators believe it was a drug deal. authorities in arizona arrested johns and lee following a chase on interstate 40 in arizona. police believe they were headed back home to georgia. need to impeach founder tom steier will host a town hall meeting in oakland to persuade people they need to remove president trump from office. the billionaire san francisco resident launched his campaign

agents intercepted another load of figurines meant to act as a decoy. in today's gma first look, a popular actor and comedian under arrest accused of calling in a fake bomb threat. >> authorities say t.j. miller made the call after getting into a confrontation with a woman on a train. >> reporter: in this morning's first look, he's known for his role in "silicon valley." but this morning t.j. miller is in trouble with the feds after allegedly calling in a false report of a bomb on an amtrak train last month. the fbi arresting him monday night. the criminal complaint says miller was on an amtrak heading from d.c. to connecticut in mid march when he called 911 to report that a female passenger has a bomb on her bag. authorities stopping this train in connecticut. passengers posting photos as they were forced off the train while police searched it.

ukiah and mid lake. i wanted to jump ahead to noon because nothing happens this morning other than the cloud cover out there. green to yellow. showers up in the north bay. by 7:00 easily in the heart of the bay. some light showers all the way down to about the dumbarton bridge as we head towards 9:00, 9:30, that steady rain is over. then you have scattered showers through the evening hours that will eventually trend to the north bay mountains an along the shorelines as we head towards tomorrow morning and mainly up across the north bay as we head into the afternoon hours tomorrow. and then by the evening hours, it all just kind of dissipates. you want to see rainfall totals, during the evening commute, pretty quiet. by the end of the commute, down by the san mateo bridge wet. everybody is going to have wetness for thursday's morning commute. my accuweather seven-day forecast, temperatures cooler tomorrow, rebounding friday. mid 60s to near 80 for the coast on saturday. one on our storm impact scale

for sunday and monday. we're going to pop into san jose. this is northbound 101. the headlines in the northbound direction right underneath the 880 overcrossing of the i gives you a bearing of where you are. everybody is behaving nicely and moving at the limit. no problems there. overall our traffic maps, you can see, it's pretty green out there with the usual slowdown suspect areas. another look at drive times if you're just heading out now, 520 this wednesday morning, petal a petaluma, southbound 101, under 15 minutes. 580 from castro valley to the maze. 101 in san jose, we saw the section from 280 to 680 up to 85 is also moving at the limit. >> thank you, sue. despite growing ridership, amtrak's corridor is struggling with keeping trains running on time. the authority in charge of the line says it's a combination of mechanical issues, track problems and trespassers on the track that has led to delays of

30 minutes or more. a new bill making its way through the state legislature would set a zero tolerance policy for young drivers under the influence of cannabis. safety advocates and lawmakers gathered to push for the measure which passed a key committee vote yesterday. the bill would make it illegal for drivers under 21 to have marijuana in their system. anyone who tests positive for cannabis could have their license suspended for a year. the measure makes an exception for medical marijuana as long as the driver isn't impaired. new medicare cards will have your social security number on it, replaced by a medicare identify as a way to fight identity theft. more than $148,000 people will be getting the new cards this

month. scientists in san francisco may have taken a significant step in the fight against alzheimer's disease. they say they have successfully changed a protein associated with alzheimer's to a more harmless form and erase brain cell damage. they carried out the research on human cells but now will have to be repeated on human patients. the study was conducted at the non-profit medical research group, gladstone. it can't come soon enough. affecting so many families. coming up the seven things you need to know as you start your

driving back home from a trip to portland. they were supposed to make a stop in san jose. abc 7 reporter amy hollyfield is live at the chp office in martinez this morning. >> reporter: the chp has found evidence to suggest that the family did crash into the eel river. the thottapilly family from valencia, they were on a road trip on the way home from port lapd. the plan was to stop in san jose before arriving in valencia but they never showed up. a witness reported a maroon vehicle drove off the embankment of highway 101 last week. the chp has found parts of a maroon honda that fits the description of the family car. neighbors describe them as a great family. >> just part of our group here, and they mean a lot to us. >> they were just going on a road trip and they were very excited, very excited to do the oregon trail. >> neighbors in valencia held a

prayer vigil for the family in front of their home. the family hasn't been heard from since thursday. eergency crews haven't been able to find the car, saying the river is raging right now from all of the rain, but they say they do plan to try again today. live in martinez, amy hollyfield, abc 7 news. it's 5:32 now. developing news in east oakland, several people were taken to the hospital after a crash involving multiple vehicles. this happened around 9:00 last night on 35th avenue at paxton. you can see debris lit terd across the street. police had to shut down part of paxton overnight while speaking to witnesses and gathering evidence. a fatal rollover in pacifica closed a transition road for several hours. chp and first responders arrived at the northbound 35 transition to northbound 1. they found a man trapped inside an suv that had rolled overtaking out a section of guard rail. . the cause of the crash remains under investigation and the roadway is now open.

president trump warning russia this morning and telling the country to get ready for a missile attack in syria. here is the tweet sent out just before 4:00 a.m. it says russia vows to shoot downey and all missiles fired at syria. get ready, russia, they will be coming, nice and new and smart. you shouldn't be partners with a gas killing animal who kills his people and enjoys it. this all follows a suspected poison gas attack in syria over the weekend. on monday the president said he would make a decision about a response in 24 to 48 hours. happening today, facebook ceo mark zuckerberg is set for another round of grilling in washington. he spent about five hours yesterday answering questions from two senate committees. now he's set to appear before members of the house. he took some heat for failing to protect the personal information of millions of users in the leadup to the 2016 presidential election. he offered up an apology for the cambridge analytical scandal.

down on monday night in the phoenix suburb. the santa rosa press democrat reports she was an aspiring model who went to cardinal newman high school. the plane crashed less than a mile after departure killing all six people on board. sacramento police plan to release more video of the stephon clark shooting. the announcement came during a city counsel meeting. the brother of clark was seen speaking with the chief and shaking hands with the city's mayor. they have a 30-day deadline to release all video and audio recordings. b.a.r.t. will update the metropolitan transportation commission on the new fleet of train cars. b.a.r.t. hoped to have 60 in service by the end of last year, only ten are running and only on the richmond line. b.a.r.t. is still testing the new cars. b.a.r.t. eventually expects to have 775 new train cars in operation.

. electric scooters dealing with a few bumps in the road at san francisco city hall. the pedestrian safety advisory committee discussed the scooters which have popped up by the hundreds on san francisco streets in the past three weeks. when not in use, riders leave the scooters wherever they please which often obstructs city sidewalks. >> these are stationary items very, very dangerous for seniors, families and especially people ada like blind individuals. >> we're ready and willing for the city's regulations. >> reporter: supervisor aaron peskin introduced legislation for a permitting process. the board of supervisors will vote on schooler ledge registration next month. as part of an initiative supervisor aaron peskin wants to put on the november ballot.

peskin's measure would repeal the so-called fwiter tax break. that allows companies in the mid market street area to avoid paying san francisco payroll taxes. the first comments from president trump's personal attorney about the fbi raid on his office and hope is somewhat at odds with how the president is describing it. michael cohen told cnn, quote, i will tell you that the members of the fbi that conducted the search and seizure were all extremely professional, courteous and respectful. president trump earlier said the agents broke into cohen's office. it happened on the day that trump's legal team met with special counsel robert mueller's staff. an abc news source described that meeting as tense as the president's team learned of the raids just before the meeting. the senate plans to introduce a bill to protect robert mueller. the counsel could appeal the decision to three federal judges. this comes as there is growing concern that president trump could move to oust mueller.
