main, those headlights headed northbound and they're few and far between. we'll pop over to san rafael and take a look at the skies, starting to light up a little bit with the traffic flowing nicely past the north gate mall exit. not a problem as you make your way into the southern part of marin and across the golden gate. we are tracking this breaking news overnight in san jose. you can see the burnt-out car there that went off the side of the road and into an embankment. this is on west san carlos and royal avenue. a witness tells abc 7 news this all happened before 1:30 this morning. first responders raced to the scene. it's not clear what led up to the incident several people could be seen loaded into ambulances. we'll bring you an update as soon as we get it. more breaking news. a military plan carrying soldiers and their families has crashed in algeria. this is new video into the newsroom. this is very bad. staggering numbers, 257 people

police say keith jones and luther lee shot and killed 23-year-old oshry elor at a house on norse drive late saturday night. investigators believe this was a drug deal. authorities in arizona arrested jones and lee following a chase on interstate 40 in that state. police believe they were headed back home to georgia. former 49er and raider aldon smith is due in court after his third arrest in two months. he was booked in jail on friday electronic monitoring while on bail. he's pleaded not guilty to domestic violence and other charges. a san francisco police officer is accusing the department of religious and ehnic discrimination. >> this started shortly after the man joined the force in 2016. he says besides numerous comments, someone sketched an isis flag on the officer's locker with the message "go back." the officer does not want to be identified because he's concerned about his safety. >> iie rial and

no life threatening injuries. a truck fairying beer kegs in new jersey spilled off the freeway. officers say it was amazing no one was hurt. it took an hour and a half to clean up the mess. before you ask, all the kegs were empty. san francisco's emergency alert system apparently is vulnerable to hackers. >> on the left you'll see a map that shows where the city's outdoor speakers are located. according to "the examiner," hackers can break in and blair out malicious messages. all it takes is a radio and a laptop to hack into the system. they say older systems were not designed to withstand cyberattacks. the manufacturer says it's developed a fix that will be implemented soon. if you see emergency vehicles at an east bay college don't be alarm. loss modonas in pittsburg is holding the drill. it's kwort naeded by the college's nursing department.

the drill starts at 7:30 this morning. despite growing ridership, amtrak's capitol corridor is struggling with keeping the rains running on time. it's a combination of mechanical issues, track problems and trespassers on the track that's led to delays of 30 minutes or more. the authority apologizing to riders with a 10% off fair deal for the month of may and a commitment to get trains running on time today. scientists in san francisco may have taken a significant step in the fight against alzheimer's by changing a protein associated with alzheimer's to a more harmless form. they carried out the research on human cells but now has to be repeated on human patients. we said it before, this can't happen soon enough. >> no, applause for all of that. good to hear they're doing the good work. >> seeing that transition maybe over to dementia. my mother-in-law has it.

you make your way on 880 past golden gate fields and into thee macarthur maze. car poolers as usual get the best view of the bridge because they're moving right along at a nice clip. otherwise you're waiting for about 10 to 12 minutes behind the metering lights backed up into the macarthur maze. once you get on the span, it is a little sluggish. we'll look at some of your drive times in a few minutes. 6:20 now. a new bill making its way through the state legislature would set a zero tolerance policy for young drivers under the influence of marijuana. safety advocates and lawmakers gathered at the capitol to push for the measure which passed a key vote yesterday. the bill would make it illegal for drivers under 21 to have con business in their system. the measure makes an exception for medical marijuana as long as the driver is not impaired.

attack in syria over the weekend. we're tracking this local news. check out this burnt-out car that went off the side of the road and into an embankment. this son west san carlos and royal avenue. we got an update from san jose police. here is the new information. they say the driver lost control overnight, slid into the eastbound lanes, hit the curb and flipped. the driver and two juveniles were inside. the driver died and the two juveniles have life-threatening injuries. developing news in east oakland where several people were taken to the hospital after a crash involving multiple vehicles. this happened on 35th avenue and paxton. you can see the debris littered through the street. police closed part of paxton overnight while talking to witnesses and gathering evidence. a fatal wallover in pacifica. chp and first responders arrived at the northbound 35 transition to northbound 1. they found a man trapped inside an suv that had rolled over,

taking out a section of guard rail. he was pronounced dead at the scene. the cause of the crash remains under investigation, and that roadway is now open. the search will continue today in mendocino county where the highway patrol fears a family of four may have crashed into the river. >> the parents and two kids are from southern california, driving back home from a trip to portland. they were supposed to make a stop in san jose. abc 7 news reporter amy hollyfield is live at the chp office in martinez. good morning. >> reporter: good morning, natasha. the chp has a witness report of a car going into the eel river. they do say they plan to search again today. here is the missing family. the thottapilly family was on a road trip, on their way back from portland and were scheduled to stop in san jose before making it home. they haven't been seen in almost a week. their neighbors in southern vigil in front of the family home. >> a great family.

we don't have kids here. the kids are always out riding their bikes and playing. they're just always friendly. >> reporter: a witness reported seeing a maroon vehicle driving off the 'em bank mtd. and chp has found parts of the honda that matches the description of the family car. they'll be searching again today. amy hollyfield, abc 7 news. new details this morning on a deadly plane crash in arizona. we learned one of the victims is from sonoma county. 23-year-old mariah coogan was a passenger on the plane that went down monday night in the phoenix suburb. she was an aspiring model who went to cardinal newman high school. the plane had taken off from scottsdale and was on its way to vegas when it crashed less than a mile after departure, killing all six people on board. sacramento police plan to release more video of the stephon clark shooting as well as make more changes to the department policy.

from the mid 50s around ukiah and lakeport. east bay, inland neighbors in the south bay mid 60s there. here we are at noon. you can see still a little sunshine breaking through the clouds. it's the 4:00 hour we've been talking about the last few days for the light green to moderate yellow rain moving into the north bay. by 7:00, still seeing it just touching the dumbarton bridge. the heaviest still around san francisco and the san mateo bridge northward. by 10:00, the steady rain pushes over. you see scattered showers trailing behind that. those will main lip transition to the coast and into the north bay mountains during the overnight hours through tomorrow morning and up until 4:00 tomorrow afternoon. and then this round is over. rainfall amounts during the evening commute. you can see they become very light as you head towards the san mateo bridge. it only takes .01 to get to hydroplaning. tomorrow morning is when we all wake up to wet conditions.
