thank you. an intense high speed chase across the bay area caught on camera. this morning officers still searching for a man accused of stealing a motorcycle. lead on a chase on westbound highway 80... past richmond and there you see them crossing the bridge into san francisco. eventually losing the suspect near golden gate park. the entire pursuit lasted half an hour. >> 4:30. let's get a quick update on weather and traffic where you live and you're never more than 30 minutes away from your forecast. >> good morning to you. a few scattered showers north here and heading toward highway 1 and these are left over showers from yesterday's weak system. so sunshine will build back into the area starting out in the upper 30s and in the inland valleys with upper 40s elsewhere. winds up to 23 miles per hour by oakland so it is a little breezy.

the two have been bitter rivals politically taking terms slamming each other but the president put out this tweet around 3:00 this morning saying quote, california governor jerry brown is doing the right thing and sending the national guard to the border. thank you jerry, good move for the safety of our country. >> in a letter to the white house yesterday brown wrote he'll accept federal funding to add 400 guard members to help existing operations and the governor insists they won't help with immigration enforcement writing, quote, this will not be a mission to build a new wall. it will not be a mission to round up women or children or to detain people escaping violence and seeking a better life. >> so the troops will be doing the better job. probably not exactly the one the president expected. >> facebook is dropping it's opposition to california's proposed privacy law. this happened shortly after mark zuckerberg was done getting

drilled by congress. it could go before voters in november. up until now facebook and other tech companies including google have fought the measure. it took the step to focus on, quote, reasonable privacy measures in california. among the things it will do is let people see what personal information businesses collect. also will allow consumers to block corporations from selling their information. >> facebook has seen the light and they realize that consumers are demanding privacy now and i am hoping that some of these other corporations follow suit. >> supporters of the privacy act are still gathering signatures. they'll know in june whether the measure qualifies for the ballot. mark zuckerberg agrees with lawmakers that regulation of his industry is inevitable. he faced harsh questions. >> we didn't take a broad enough view of our responsibility and that was a big mistake and it was my mistake and i'm sorry.

little league. tey know her name but they just need to find her. the theft happened in the city of petaluma. a proposal that would raise the wages of san francisco votevote workers. it's called a living wage law. it would require them to be paid the same minimum weight as those that work at for profit contractors. if this goes through, the minimum wage will be $16.83 on july 1st. >> we know who the warriors are going to face-off in the nba playoffs and the schedule. >> they have a familiar foe. they'll open against the san antonio spurs. a team they defeated last year on their way to the title. game one is set for saturday. watch it right here on abc 7. tipoff is set for noon. game two will also be at oracle on monday night. the series is best of

during the season. they found exposure lead to more hospital visits for heart disease, irregular heart rhythm, heart failure and stroke. the full study is published in the journal of the american heart association. >> chp officers were in a helicopter the night the fire broke out six months ago. they took more than two dozen people to safety at the atlas fire in napa. they were reunited with one survivor and his dog the other day at a summit for emergency readiness. >> we met up with several of the people we came in contact with that night and they don't realize how big of a blessing it is for us to meet them. >> the officers were also presented with a certificate of honor. stay with abc 7 news for continuing coverage of the north bay wildfires six months later.

coverage all week long on air, online and on our app. >> hackers in switzerland claim they sent out the phony threats that alarmed people all across america and prompted schools to close on monday. in the bay area they cancelled classes at all campuses on monday. others increased security and alerted parents. an online gaming company said the hackers hijacked the domain to spread the hoax. at least 36 states returned to them and the fbi is investigating. >> a school in san francisco wants to shelter 20 families that don't have a permanent home. the principle and vice principal created a plan to provide temporary housing for families in the school gym. the money would likely come from city hall and private donations. >> they would have a place to do their homework. they would be ableo relax and re not have to think about where to

spend the night. >> they're still working out the details before bringing that proposal to the school board. >> forbes magazine has named uc berkeley one of the nation's top colleges when it comes to value. each year forbes scores 30 four year colleges on alumni earnings, timely graduation, school quality and assets for low income students. forbes says cal grads earn an average mid career salary of $130,000. that is the highest of the top three schools on the list and u.c. berkeley is right behind ucla. brigham young, harvard and stanford round out the top seven. >> one possible site is the port of oakland power terminal and the team has an idea how to get fans there. they're considering a lift like this to move people from

sunshine. >> a move to protect children from predators in their schools is gaining momentum. it's to prevent teachers from moving from school to school. it passed the senate education committee. school employees that have been convicted of sex crimes are often allowed to re-sign and can actually eventually move to another school. the bill would require teacher applicants to disclose any past claims or investigations into child abuse or sexual misconduct. >> so odds are you have seen the stickers that say warranty void. now the federal trade commission says they're likely ill lee feg. it's not legally binding under the law setting out the rules for consumer product warranties. the firms aren't named but apple has often been criticized for restrictions on replacement parts like third party screens. apple argues it's a security measure. happening today in the east

bay, a ground breaking ceremony for a new community center. the new cherryland community center will be at hayward and a hampton and boston roads. price tag, $22 million and some of the new features will include a reception hall and library. >> happening today, 14 set to arrive at the oakland zoo. they had the ceremony on tuesday before the animals were put on the truck to come here to the bay area. they're part of the 56 acre california trail expansion. all are female and come from a herd that dates back to 1873. you can actually welcome the bison if you go to the zoo on saturday and members will be there. >> good morning to you. stepping up the next few minutes you'll need the umbrella. scatterered showe scattered showers. showing the rain along the

build a battery. >> it will be triple the size the one tesla installed in australia last year which is currently the biggest one. they asked the federal government for permission to build a 350 megawatt solar power near the mule mountains. two hours east of palm springs. the company doesn't have a buyer for the electricity yet and the process will take several years. >> nestle produces a pink kit kat bar. it did so in japan and south korea earlier this year and it was a big hit. now it's coming to the u.k. it comes from ruby cocoa beans that have a very light fruity flavor. it's coming to the u.s. but nestle hasn't said when. one of the reviews said it's like a white chocolate. >> i could be into that. >> okay. i'll let you try it first.
