quickly tomorrow. >> good morning. i want to take you back live to sky 7 right now. in walnut creek and this was the scene of major traffic alert not too long ago. just after 5:00 a.m. ch pfrks issued a sig alert due to police activity there. all lanes of northbound 680 were closed. you could still see flares burning in the area. we have not confirmed what the police activity was but it was there long enough to cause a back up on the southbound side. folks looking at the flashing lights so we're looking at a back up spilling over just a little bit on to 242 if you're coming in from concord or pleasant hill you may want to think about alternates. all lanes of northbound 680 back open and residual delays on the southbound side. >> happening today a san jose group concerned with googles massive expansion into the south bay is getting ready to reveal a list of demands. >> and matt keller is live in san jose. matt. >> jessica, many people are excited about google's plans for

development here around the station in downtown san jose but of course the big question is what is going to be the impact on housing prices? they're already sky high here in the south bay. silicon valley rising is holding a press conference in mountainview. they say community leaders will provide testimony and explain the demands they have reached through community meetings. most concerned about increasing housing prices due to google's plan to build their next headquaters with the potential of up to 20,000 new jobs. in an open letter to google ceo they make several demands including financing an affordable housing fund, and protecting tenant's rights. google spent $220 million buying properties. the city has created a station area adviser group for updates and public come meant on the project. it's next meeting is april 30th

matt keller, abc 7 news. >> thank you. a day after missile strike on syria the president is making it sound like a tease. this morning he tweeted never said when an attack on syria would take place. could be very soon or not so soon at all. the threat of a u.s. missile strike came overthe within. >> we're hearing from the family of an instagram model that was among the six people that died in a plane crash in arizona. 23-year-old mariah was on a plane that crashed minutes after taking off on scottsdale monday. it was headed to las vegas. she posted video of the flight on instagram as the group was taking off and was able to capture the plane's tail number. her parents say the video was a sign of devine intervention.

>> god was involved in that. if she hadn't filmed the tale of the plane it would have taken awhile. she was happy. >> unfortunately everyone on board died. federal investigators are trying to determine if the plane was overloaded. >> a driver is recovery from injuries after going off an embankment in the south bay. that crash happened near the open space preserve. first responders rescued the driver. >> a judge could order the former raider and niners star smith into a substance abuse facility. he had a blood alcohol level high enough to kill him when he was taken into custody last friday. it was s.4. that is five times the limit to

drive. he was arrested. experts say smith could have gone into a coma and died of respiratory failure. >> developing news following a deadly accident in oakland. this morning, police are still searching for three men in an s suv. a toyota with a woman inside as well as three children was making a u-turn when the suv hit it. the driver of the toyota was still in critical condition this morni morning. one child died and the other two are in the hospital. it also awent into parked cars. >> the guy was doing 100 miles per hour coming down the street. >> neighbors say speeding is a problem despite flashing lights and a sign that hangs over a nearby school crossing.

it should be a very nice afternoon if you can dodge a few showers, mainly in the north bay, higher elevations. mid 30s from santa rosa with five mile visibilities. upper 40s. heyward 48. in mountainview. it's colder. you probably feel it out there. anywhere from 4 to 10 degrees colder. you have the heat on again. we can shut it off and open the windows the next couple of at as. as we look at the trend in san jose today in the low 60s and then look what happens. we're in the upper 60s, low 70s. the warmest day will be on saturday and then by sunday clouds increased. what happens on monday. we'll see more rain possibly even a thunderstorm. 60 with breezy winds in oakland today and lows tonight in the mid 30s in the north bay. a couple of storm systems, sunday monday and next wednesday. what's happening out there. >> it's been a busy day so far.

i want to take you to a new issue at heyward. we have a two car crash. not sure about injuries yet. i'll keep an eye on that one. heavy traffic in the area anyway approaching 92 and then it's stop and go as well. another collision pushed off to the shoulder. finally good news here. we had a crash with injuries at 4:45 this morning. they were able to get all lanes back open so this is in the recovery mode right now. we have about a three mile back up remaining as that starts to unwind. and also southbound 680 through walnut creek. we had police activity blocking the entire northbound side. all of that clear before 6:00 this morning so traffic is stop and go and it's looking much better. >> happening today the san jose sharks open the playoffs and they're going to do it on the road.

hour. it's busy out there today. >> yeah. residual sprinkles and i have residual delays from earlier incidents this morning. we actually had four separate crashes along this stretch of westbound 80 near travis boulevard. they all are in the clean up stages now. everything is being towed away. so no lanes are blocked but you're heavy down to about 15 miles per hour. 19 miles per hour. some of that, the typical volume that fills in this time of the day but of course some of that due to the accidets as well. a quick check of the bay bridge toll plaza. those metering lights have been on since 5:20. >> on to developing news in the east bay involving an apparent freeway shooting that happened early this morning. >> abc 7 news reporter live for us at the chp office. amy. >> hi, reggie. looks like the chp now has another freeway shooting to deal with. take a look at this video. you can see the evidence of what happened. there's a bullet hole in the

car. you can see it in the passenger door on the driver's side. this happened overnight in concord on highway 4 at the port chicago off ramp. we didn't see any evidence that anyone was hurt. there was no ambulance on the scene. we did see police though searching the area for evidence. they did not say whether they made an arrest or what the motive could have been behind this attack but freeway shootings are plaguing the area. the chp, there have been about 100 of them in the east bay in the past year. they have told us before that these are tough to solve. they happen while people are moving at a high rate of speed. there usually aren't any witnesses and everyone drives away and they are gone but the chp now has another one to investigate. we're waiting to hear back from investigators on this case and we'll get you the information on this one as soon as it comes in but we wanted to let you know another one of these has happened. abc 7 news. >> thank you. now look at this, an intense high speed chase across the bay

area and caught on camera. this morning chp officers are still searching for the person accused of stealing a motorcycle. around 10:15 the suspect lead officers on a chase on westbound highway 80 past richmond and berkeley and emeryville. officers trailed behind eventually losing the suspect near golden gate park and the entire pursuit lasted about half an hour. >> also this morning, a secret deal involving president trump during the 2016 election. according to the story dropped by the new yorker overnight t company that owns the national enquirer paid $30,000 to a former doorman at a new york city building owned by president trump. he went to the enquirer offering a salacious story about then candidate trump. no story ever appeared. the doorman signed a contract preventing him from going public. no comment this morning from the

facebook and some other tech companies including google have fought the measure. the company said it took the step to focus on reasonable privacy measures in california. among the things the privacy act claims it will do is let people see what personal information businesses collect. it will also allow consumers to block corporations from selling their information. >> facebook has seen the light and they realize that consumers are demanding privacy now and i'm hoping that some of the other corporations follow suit. >> supporters of the privacy act are still gathering signatures. they will know in june whether the measure qualifies for the ballot. >> mark zuckerberg agrees with lawmakers that regulation of his industry is inevitable. he faced harsh questioning on facebook's failure to protect privacy. >> we didn't take a broad enough view of our responsibility and that was a big mistake and it was my mistake and i'm sorry.

a crash involving two vehicles so just north of state route and this will clear shortly. heavy south of there as well as you continue past state route interchange this has been a trouble spot since about 4:45 this morning. we had a serious crash with injuries blocking three out of four lanes for close to an hour and a half. everything cleared up 15 or 20 minutes ago and you saw the sensors improve from red back to the green. about a mile of back up remains but that's looking a lot better. also here in walnut creek. still stop and go but all lanes back open on the northbound side and starting to thin out there. we'll take a look at drive times coming up next. >> alexis thank you. happening today the san francisco mayor will follow up on why he and the police department are doing to stop car

james long claims united should have known that removing him was going to require physical force. so long is suing the airline, the city of chicago and the commissioner and is seeking over $150,000. the sum includes damages as well as back pay stemming from the firing in august. >> wildfires not only cause respiratory problems but it's linked to heart problems too. researchers looked at more than a million emergency room visits in northern and central california during the 2015 wildfires. and they found exposure to wildfire smoke lead to more visits for heart disease, irregular rhythm and stroke. the full cistudy is in the jourl of the american heart association. >> some are getting a chance to say thank you to first responders. chp officers were in a helicopter the night the fires broke out six months ago. they took more than two dozen

upper 70s. low 70s around the bay and increasing the clouds on sunday. showers even into the middle of next week. >> we had a pretty busy morning on the roads but things are starting to improve but we have a few hotspots still. i want to take you to the north bay. northbound 29 past the state route 12 merge. it doesn't sound very serious but that was blocking one lane and it looks like traffic a little heavy there on westbound state route 12 approaching 29. south bay looking good this morning. 101 at 880. a little stop and go traffic. make it to that 880 interchange. things are looking great and drive times overall not bad either. westbound 580 tracy to dublin in the yellow this morning. 46 minutes for you. dublin to mission boulevard we had a crash at mission earlier. that's long gone at this point. stop and go at 20 minutes and northbound 101 to cupertino looks great.
