live from why you live, this abc 7 news. >> bullets flying on an east bay freeway. not once, but twice, and now police are looking for the gunman in what appears to be a pair of random shootings. i'm jessica castro. chp investigating two separate shootings in the east bay. first on walnut creek, and the second highway 4 at port chicago highway in concord, both, apparent road rage. amy holly field has more on both cases. amy? >> reporter: hi, jessica, yeah, this is the chp that says it's so important not to engage with other drivers to truly take a deep breath, take the high road. you are already dealing with

driving at a high rate of speed, dealing with traffic, and now imagine the driver last night here on 680 having to dodge bottles thrown at him, and that was just the beginning and only the calls came in within minutes of each other. at first, chp says the timing and similarity of the calls made it hard to believe. >> originally, it was confusing what we had, but we figured out it was two separate shootings, not related, appear to be separate incidents. >> reporter: first happened at 9:45 in walnut creek. two drivers got in an altercation, and the victim did not realize he was shot until he got home. >> the vehicle threw bottles, and the window shattered out and thought the vehicle was struck by a bottle, drove home, and at 11:00 at night, there was a bullet fragment in the vehicle and called us and said the vehicle was shot on the freeway.

>> reporter: the delay called came in at the same time as a realtime shootig on highway 4 in concord in port chicago highway. no one was hurt in either shooting. >> shooting's another level to go to. that's scary. >> reporter: they know rage is an issue, but can't believe two shootings within two hours of each other and just seven miles apart. >> outrageous that people think they have the right to just pick somebody off. horrible. i wish there would be a way to catch them. >> reporter: investigators say they are trying. they did gather some evidence from here on interstate 680, presumably shell casings and are processing those in the crime lab and they are following up on leads, but at this time, no arrests have been made. live in walnut creek, amy hollyfield, abc 7 news. >> thank you. developing news this morning from the east bay also, a

robbery attempt outside a restaurant has led to the death of a 61-year-old woman. it happened on friday night on webster street near eagle avenue. the police department says the woman, along with the 28-year-old man, suffered head injuries, both taken to the hospital. the woman passed away from her injuries yesterday. meanwhile, the man was released from the hospital. the police say the attackers got away. they are now asking for the public's help to find them. new at 11:00 a.m., a new campaign to crackdown on car break-in epidemic in san francisco. the mayor and san francisco police chief william scott have announced a new campaign to curb the break-ins including increased foot patrols to deal with property crimes. sfpd wants to train more employees to fingerprint. the department says if more break-in victims get their cars fingerprinted, more easily they can investigate cases.

there's a new public awareness campaign called park smart with pamphlets of the message, if you leave it, don't leave it. it's a reminder not to leave valuables in your car. the police need help catching an armed robbery suspect. take a look at the screen. they say this man held up the pacific service credit union yesterday. no word on what he got away with. authorities say he may, though, be connected to other bank robberies in the bay area, so if you recognize him, call the police. new at 11:00, santa clara county prosecutors filed criminal charges against 49er reuben foster. the star linebacker was arrested two months ago in los gatos after police say he attacked his girlfriend. he now faces felony charges for domestic violence and possessing an assault rifle and has been freed on $75,000 bail. foster is scheduled to be

arraigned today at 1:30. a judge could order a former raider and niner aldon smith, into a facility tomorrow. they say smith had a blood alcohol level high enough to kill him when taken into custody last friday. it was .4, five times the legal limit to drive. he could have gone into a coma and died of respiratory failure. uber going to start performing annual background checks on all drivers in the u.s. the san francisco company making the announcement this morning. in addition, uber hired a company that constantly monitors criminal arrests. uber is adding a button in the app allowing passengers to call 911 in an emergency. the moves are being made to improve passenger safety. happening now, a san jose advocacy group concerned with google's expansion revealed a

list of demands. google spent more than $220 million buying properties around the sap center, silicon valley rising is concerned about increasing housing prices. the group wants google to finance and affordable housing fund, pay for legal assistance for san jose tenants facing eviction and support laws protecting tenants' rights. the san jose sharks begin the quest for the first ever stanley cup as they take on the anaheim ducks tonight, and fans are hoping the sharks can get back into gear after losing five of the final six games. abc 7 news reporter matt keller is joining us from the popular fan hangout in downtown san jose. hi, matt. >> reporter: hi, jessica. i know what you are thinking, why are you at a bar at 11:00 in the morning? well, one, it's 5:00 somewhere, and, two, get your seat to watch the stanley cup finals playoffs

early because the fans show up. welcome to fin city. the stanley cup playoffs start tonight and support for the san jose sharks is seen everywhere from electronic signs, colorful displays under bridges, banners on light poles, and even the jerseys of the team hanging on san pedro street. >> everything's shark easter story, everyone starts wearing all the stuff. it's a cool crowd. >> great for the city of san jose. you know, whenever we can drive more excitement about the city, more excitement about the team to downtown area, it fills restaurants, which is a great economic impact to the city. >> reporter: the sharks are almost a sure bet to make the playoffs, missing the post season twice in 20 years. two seasons ago, they went all the way to the stanley cup finals. betting odds today have the sharks a long shot to win it all at 22:1. fans don't care, though, just hoping for a celebration in june. >> go all the way.

the world is waiting t how and when the u.s. will respond to the suspected chemical weapons attack in syria. president trump is telling russia to be prepared. russia is a long-time ally of syria president assad, but at the same time, president trump is also tweeting a response to the syria attack may not be coming soon. abc is following the developments in washington. >> reporter: a head fake by the president over a showdown in syria, warning a forceful response to a chemical attack was imminent, putting russia on notice tweeting about missiles that o nice and new and smart. president trump now tweeted, never said when an attack on syria would take place. could be very soon or not so soon at all. >> we're looking for very, very seriously and closely at that whole situation, and we'll see

what happens, folks, we'll see what happens. it's too bad the world puts us in a position like that. >> there's a tactical concern, ma'am, that innocent people we don't add to any civilian deaths, and do everything humanly possible to avoid that. we're trying to stop the murder of innocent people. >> reporter: the syria military is in a more defensive posture. repositioning war planes ahead of anticipated action. a u.s. destroyer is already in the mediterranean, a french warship off the lebanon coast, and even possibly u.s. and british submarines and french planes launched from jordan, british from cypress. >> assad was given a warning a year ago, did not heed the warning, and the president's going to have to go back in with something to make more impressions on mr. assad. >> reporter: the regime denies using chemical weapons and called pictures from the attack fake, but the french president macron says france has proof chemical weapons were used.

abc news, washington. new this morning, there's another report of a secret deal involving president trump during the 2016 election. according to a story dropped by the new yorker overnight, the company that owns the national enquirer paid $30,000 to a former doorman at a new york city building owned by president trump. that report says the doorman went to the enquirer to offer a salacious story about then candidate trump in the 2016 campaign, but no story ever appeared, and the doorman signed a contract preventing him from going public. no comment this morning from the white house. pressure is building in missouri for governor eric brightons to resign or face impeachment over sexual assault charges, coming a day after state lawmakers released a report accusing him of forced sexual encounters with a woman. he's admitted having an extramarital affair with in the year 2015. she testified that greitens was

not out of the question to see a renegade shower, but santa cruz, that's nice, 57 degrees, a lot of sun, 53 downtown, mid-50s gilroy. clouds are building here, upper elevations from mt. tan, 55 in novato and 57 in concord. it's a nice day, but the buildups could allow for a renegade shower, and the winds are kicking up from the cool direction, north, northwest, and you can see along the coast, gusting to 18 miles per hour, and 14 miles per hour wind here at the airport, but stronger gusts on the way today. a blustery day out there, but we will warm it up significantly as we go from below average today to above average, our warmest day of the week saturday. isolated shower, breezy, sunny, warmer tomorrow, and saturday is the pick day for sun and warm. upper 70s and rain. do you believe it? a vigorous system arrives late sunday into monday.

yes, increasing the clouds on sunday. tonight, with the clear skies, we are cooler, mid-30s in the north bay, low 40s in redwood city. mapping the weekend and week ahead, you know we have the two warm days, tomorrow and saturday, and look what happens sunday. if you want to have those outdoor activities, a day at the beach, it's saturday because we cool off sunday. look at monday, not 60 degrees, and tuesday, wednesday, a little recovery but could see more rain into the middle of next week. here's sunday, 2:00 in the afternoon. santa rosa could see a few showers, clouding up, and by the evening, it pushes through, but as we get through early morning monday, check it out, we're looking at more showers. this could bring down another .25 inch, and it's a cold system meaning more snow. breezy northwest winds today, and if you're headed to the giants' game, 7:42 sunsets, and
