interfered in our election. >> president-elect trump's first question was to confirm that it had no impact on the election and then the conversation, to my surprise, moved into a pr conversation about how the trump team would position this and what they could say about this. they actually started talking about drafting a press release with us still sitting there and the reason that was so striking to me is that is just not done, that the intelligence community does intelligence, the white house does pr and spin. >> you also said you were strike by what they didn't ask. >> very much. no one, to my recollection, asked so what -- what's coming next from the russians? how might we stop it? what's the future look like? it was all, what can we say about what they did and how it affects the election that we just had. >> reporter: comey then asked to meet alone with trump to warn him about that now infamous

steele dossier, unverified information on trump's ties to russia including allegations of trump's encounters with prostitutes in moscow. >> i'm about to meet with a person elected president of the united states by all accounts and from my watching him during the campaign could be volatile, and i'm about to talk to him about allegations that he was involved with prostitutes in moscow and that the russians taped it and have leverage over him. >> was there any choice there? why, if this was salacious and this particular part of the dossier unverified, still unverified, by the way? >> yes, so far -- when i got fired it was unverified. >> did you tell him the steele dossier was financed by his political opponents? >> no, i don't think i used the term steele dossier. i just talked about additional material. >> did he have a right to know that? >> financed by his political opponents? i don't know the answer to that.

it wasn't necessary for my goal which was to alert him that we had this information. >> how graphic did you get? >> i think as graphic as i needed to be. i started telling him about the allegation was that he had been involved with prostitutes in a hotel in moscow in 2013 during a visit for the miss universe pageant and that the russians had filmed the episode and he interrupted very defensively and started talking about do i look like a guy who needs hookers and i -- since he was asking rhetorically i didn't answer and moved on and explained, sir, i'm not saying we credit this, i'm not saying we believe it. we just thought it very important you know. >> did you tell him you thought it wasn't true or you didn't know if it was true or not? >> i never said i don't believe it because i couldn't say one way or another. >> how weird was that briefing? >> really weird. it was almost an out-of-body experience for me. i was floating above myself looking down saying you're sitting here briefing the

incoming president of the united states about prostitutes in moscow. >> reporter: january 27th at a private dinner in the white house, president trump raises the issue again. >> he says he may want me to investigate it to prove that it didn't happen and then he says something that distracted me. he said if there's even a 1% chance my wife thinks that's true, that's terrible. and i remember thinking, how could your wife think there's a 1% chance you were with prostitutes peeing on each other in moscow. i'm a flawed human being but literally zero chance my wife would think that that was true. what kind of marriage to what kind of man does your wife think there's only a 99% chance you didn't do that, and i said to him, sir, when he started talking about i may order you to investigate that, i said, sir, that's up to you but you'd want to be careful about that because it might create a narrative that we're investigating you personally and, second, it's very difficult to prove something didn't happen. >> did you believe his denial?

>> honestly never thought these words would come out of my mouth but i don't know whether the president was in moscow with prostitutes peeing on each other in 2013. it's possible but i don't know. >> i got to say that took my breath away. >> i would imagine so. >> the president came back to what he said again and again and again. >> he said that again and again and again. as you were saying before we went to that piece that he went further. comey went further than you were expecting, even more so than what he talked about in the book. >> when you push him on his judgments about the president, when you push him on his actions, he's both reflective, doesn't give some ground on some things but he is just not holding back on president trump in any way, shape or form. >> he talks about how it was an out-of-body experience for him to sit with the president. it must have been on out-of-body experience for you to sit with him. >> thank you for saying that. we were there for several hours on monday and there were probably about 15 or 20 of us in the room and collectively i prepared well for this, i thought i knew the story,

collectively we weren't ready for everything that he was getting ready to say. >> i've known you for a long time and you come back from interviews all the time and i don't think i've ever seen you -- the reaction you had coming back from this. >> it really did stun me. let's bring in cecilia vega, our correspondent, and our chief justice department correspondent pierre thomas as well and cecilia, as we said the white house has known this was coming and braced with a response. >> reporter: the president himself is responding. he just tweeted, george. take a look, james comey is a proven leaker and liar. he leaked classified information for which he should be prosecuted. the president calls him a weak and untruthful slime ball who was, as time has proven, a terrible director of the fbi. he says the handling of the hillary clinton case and the events surrounding it will go down as one of the worst botched jobs of history. quote, it was my great honor to fire james comey and it's not just the president. the rnc is firing back too. they've got a website calling

him lying comey.com and even a war room set up, george. >> what other headlines that caught your eye that you expect to get a response from the white house. >> reporter: i expect to hear about this anecdote of chief of staff john kelly saying he intended to quit after comey was fired because he didn't want to, quote, work for dishonorable people. i'm also struck by the language that comey is using to describe the president. he calls this presidency a forest fire. the president himself he says is ego driven. he gets really personal, talks about the president's appearance, saying that he appeared shorter in person and this line was wow to me. he said the president appeared orange from tanning. there is zero love lost on this. >> even made comments about the size of his hands. pierre, you've known james comey for a long time as well. he seems like a man on a mission. >> reporter: george, i've been talking to people close to comey as we approached the release of

the book and your interview, and they say this is professional and personal for comey. comey believes the president is possibly corrupt. it's personal because comey believes he was treated shoddily, fired when he was across the country in los angeles and hearing about it from the media and people telling him that the president did not even want him to fly back to washington on the fbi plane, george. >> comey has critics as well. >> reporter: i spoke to a critic last night who said the book had an unseemly tell-all quality, especially for a former fbi director and was indicative of his own ego. comey is a lightning rod, perhaps the best known and most controversial fbi director since j. edgar hoover. >> reporter: the president pardoned scooter libby for lying about leaking. >> reporter: the irony not lost

some sort of military strike. they know that the president back in the united states met with his top national security advisers, his national security team in the last 24 hours but as you mentioned, just this morning, in fact, a short time ago the russians coming out and now saying they have irrefutable proof that the chemical attack in douma was a setup despite the horror already seen by the world. they are the faces of the children, the families hit with the suspected chemical attack that horrified the world. and this morning, with pressure mounting, president trump at his national security team and key allies are now carefully debating strategy and the level of proof on the ground. how to strike and when with the leaders of britain and france telling the president they too believe something must be done. this morning, new signs air strikes could be coming and soon, a u.s. destroyer is already in the mediterranean. british aircraft and french warplanes here too. a french warship right off the coast here in lebanon while inside syria, new images showing assad's forces and the russian

together. french president emmanuel macron now saying publicly that they have unspecified proof of the attack, that at least chlorine was used and from president trump who said missiles were coming, a more cautious tone in the last 24 hours. >> we'll see what happens, folks. we'll see what happens. it's too bad that the world puts us in a position like that. >> reporter: likely influenced by his own national security team. >> today our president did say that he's not made a decision. >> reporter: and perhaps the real question here this morning, would syria consider another one of these isolated air strikes like what we saw about a year ago, a relatively small price to pay given the significant gains they made in syria against the rebels. take a look at these images. they're quite telling from the last 24 hours. that's bashar al assad meeting with the iranians of damascus. you can see the smiles on their faces and in douma where that suspected chemical attack took place there are reports the syrian flag is now flying again. >> can you give us a sense of

the atmosphere there in beirut where you are? >> reporter: well, they're certainly bracing particularly given the words from president trump earlier in the week about missiles coming, new, smart missiles, be ready for them, they're on the way. but i can tell you that independent inspectors were here in beirut in the last 24 hours. we've now learned they made their way to damascus and arrived and are expected to go to that site, but as you know the big question several days after that alleged attack, what kind of evidence, what kind of proof will they be able to find. >> that is the question. you'll have more for us later and, of course, also tonight on "world news tonight." thank you. the new bombshell from the cosby trial. former supermodel janice dickins dickinson's heated testimony. >> reporter: a longtime law enforcement officer said that he

had never heard such extraordinary testimony in his entire life. he was talking about the testimony of former model janice dickinson. she is one of the five cosby accusers who we've heard testify here. all describing in graphic detail incidents in the '80s when they say they believe bill cosby drugged and sexually assaulted them, allegations that cosby has long denied. dickinson testified about an encounter with cosby where she says he offered her a blue pill. she says she took it, immediately became woozy, dizzy, unable to move and she told the jury she can still remember him smelling like espresso, cigar, body ode. he was america's dad on top of me. the defense pounced taking issue at her admission of the alleged rape in a book about her life story and inconsistencies about drug use and sexual relationships throughout her memoir. the defense called them lies. she said it was poetic license. next up on the witness stand today, andrea constand, the woman at the heart of this case. robin. >> we know that you'll be back in that courtroom. all right, linsey, thank you. michael. now we'll go to rob with

that massive storm bringing flooding and tornadoes. what do you have, rob? >> it's a wide-reaching storm and before that we have winds across parts of the southwest that have done damage in the last 24 hours. look at this, a dust storm across parts of phoenix or just in the south of phoenix, damaging wind as cross l.a. as well. this yesterday afternoon taking trees down and then continuing overnight. still windy there right now especially in inland areas. high wind warnings continuing to be posted. that is west of the main system. the main system spiraling into the plains. look at these red warnings. blizzard warnings across six states here in the middle of april and winter storm watches extend into parts of michigan. that's the northern part of this with wind and snow blowing across parts of the dakotas in through nebraska. the eastern and southern part will be a significant severe weather threat not just today but the next two days. today we're most concerned about kansas city, springfield. large hail, maybe tornadoes late in the day through the evening and everything pushes off to the east tomorrow. mobile and huntsville as well and ice across the northern tier

holding back on the president and writes that the president is unethical, untethered to truth and speaking in pretty riveting detail about his encounters with the president. >> you can see the full exclusive interview with george and comey this sunday night at 10:00 p.m. eastern 9:00 central on abc. but we begin with the tragic incident of a teenager crushed to death in the back of a minivan. he managed to call 911 twice. those calls raising questions about police response. abc's gio benitez is here with this tragic story. good morning, gio. >> reporter: good morning. by all accounts it seems this teenager did everything right making two 911 calls, even telling the operator where he was. now, we want you to know we will not be airing those calls here this morning. they're just too difficult to listen to but they are now at the center of an investigation. this morning, questions about how a 16-year-old got stuck in the backseat of a van crushing his chest. >> my son never came home from school and we thought he was at a tennis match. >> okay. >> we don't know where he is.

>> reporter: according to prosecutors kyle plush was found asphyxiated in the third row of his 2004 honda odyssey tuesday. his body discovered six hours later even though he called 911 twice. the "cincinnati enquirer" reporting he was kneeling on the third seat trying to get tennis equipment from the back when according to a law enforcement source, the seat flipped over onto the floor of the cargo area trapping him upside down. despite being trapped he managed to call 911 at 3:14 p.m. the call got disconnected but a few minutes later he managed to dial it again prying the make and model of the car to the operator. by then responding officers had traced the gps coordinates from his phone to this parking lot. they were just feet away from the honda odyssey but didn't know it because the second 911 operator did not pass on the information plush provided. the officers eventually left the scene without finding anything. that 911 operator has been suspended.

>> this young man was crying out for help. we weren't able to get that information to the officers on the scene and we need to find out why. >> reporter: his father is the one who found his son hours later suffocated inside that honda odyssey. authorities in cincinnati demanding a review of the 911 system, the county prosecutor launching an investigation into what went wrong. and this morning, police are still trying to figure out whether this was a technical failure or if the 911 operator was just not doing her job properly. you know, one of the heartbreaking moments on that call he says that he thinks he's going to die and he tells the operator to tell his mother that he loves her. >> heartbreaking. thank you, gio. >> all right. now to the ex-miami dolphins cheerleader accusing the team of discriminating against her because of her gender and religion. as more nfl cheerleaders come forward with harassment claims paula faris is here with that story for us. good morning. >> reporter: good morning.

what a tough story, you guys. we have seen cheerleaders filing lawsuits about unfair wages but in this particular complaint, the former dolphins cheerleader says she would told to the to talk about her faith or virginity and she and her lawyer are calling on the nfl to do more to protect cheerleaders. they spend every game on t sidelines cheering on their team. >> touchdown, dolphins. >> reporter: but this morning one former miami dolphins cheerleader is throwing a challenge flag, accusing the team of gender and religious discrimination. >> i got sat down in an interview with my director and my coaches and they brought up my virginity which was kind of shocking to me. >> reporter: ware says her decision to wait for marriage was no secret but according to a complaint she filed wednesday with the florida state labor board, during her yearly tryout one of her superiors told her she was, quote, not allowed to speak about anything related to her virginity to anyone and that she needed to develop into a woman. ware is also accusing the dolphins of discriminating against her for talking about her religious beliefs.

>> i was told that i wasn't allowed to mention god and what really broke my heart is seeing how public football players can be about their faith. >> reporter: and just last month former new orleans saints cheerleader bailey davis filed her own complaint after she was fired for posting this photo, breaking a rule that prohibits cheerleaders from posting revealing images on social media, a rule that the complaint says doesn't apply to men. davis says some of the work cheerleaders are asked to do made her feel worthless. >> at appearances fans will be asking to take pictures with us and sometimes the guys will try to put their hand a little too low on your back and you just have to be polite all the time. you always have to be polite. you always have to smile. >> reporter: with women making up nearly half of all nfl viewers, many say the league needs to do more to ensure equality in the workplace. >> when you hear what's going on with the cheerleaders, and you hear the kind of workplace issues they're dealing with and
