we can now simulate the exact anatomyh care, of a patient's brain before surgery. if we can do that, imagine what we can do for seizures. and if we can fix damaged heart valves without open heart surgery, imagine what we can do for an irregular heartbeat, even high blood pressure. if we can use analyze each patient's breast cancer to personalize their treatment, imagine what we can do for the conditions that affect us all. imagine what we can do for you.

let's recap the highlights. let's get our sign game going. it's the start of the playoffs. flip them around. first quarter, warriors off the mills miss. thompson, durant. javale had 11 points in the first half. way to go, pierre! he provided a lot of energy. played nine minutes. look at the defense. got to love that. >> that was fun. kind of reminded me of back in the day. no, no, no, that was amazing.
3:03 pm
>> durant walking it up and strolls into a three. k.d., 16 points in the first half. six seconds left, first quarter. oh, looney, come on, protect the ball. ette ginobili, 40 years old, can still play. beats the buzzer. second quarter, klay starts to heat up from wra downtown. splash. >> different way to get into klay on a perimeter screen. you saw the highlight. he's drawing attention. >> draymond to livingston, mills off the leg of iguodala. i tell you what, durant with the extension there. >> nice to have that kind of a wing span. it's a jail break. oh, he almost tipped it in. look at looney. he was in the right place at the right time, frequently. warriors up at the half, 57-41. second half, spurs will do this. they're going to chip away. get the deficit down.
3:04 pm
murray with a bank. other end of the floor, iguodala. we'll tell you his line later, but it's javale with a tip-in. quality minutes from him. more from klay. catch, shoot. i mean, like the time he spends with the ball in his hands is so minimal. there's the -- >> your favorite play. >> take a -- just dunk the ball! do not pass it out for threes. at santa clara you would have benched guys for doing that. >> take those threes. >> you and simprjerry brown wou say, take it to the basket. if you can make it go 11 of 13, yes. we have even swaggy b. hitting threes. or he hit one. the warriors extended garbage time in this game because they were up big. win it 113-9s 2. klay, 11 of 13 for 27. durant, 24 points, 8 boards, 7 assists, the all-around game. ame two is monday night at oracle arena. games three and four will be in
3:05 pm
san antonio thursday and sunday, which leetsdz ads us to the que how many games will this series actually go? let's see what the audience is saying. you can vote abc7news.com/atg. nobody's -- 3% are picking seven-game series. it's not going seven. most people are on five. i picked five going in. what did you think? >> eight. >> what? eight? >> i just think this is one of those teams you have to put away. the warriors have to do this. have you to do this consistently. this is one of those teams, if you don't come out and play consistently every night, they're want going to beat themselves. you have to beat them. >> when you say eight, you're mocking this whole thing because you're saying you just want the focus to be -- don't be thinking, okay, we're going to sweep and walk right in. >> yes. >> i want to continue this, but let's go to somebody more important than us, and that would be draymond green standing by -- welling, he is, with mike. it's true. >> reporter: yeah, he's a lot
3:06 pm
more important than all of us. talking about flipping that switch for the playoffs and pretty good start to round one with san antonio. >> very good start. i never look at it as flipping the switch. i look at it as we just weren't playing well. we got back to the basics of what we do, which is dwind and then push the tempo. we had a better game tonight. we know how this goes. game two is tougher when you play a team like this that's filled with so much pride, fight, and championship ways, you know, so we got to come out and play the same way. we did it tonight and even a little smarter. >> and andre got to start at guard. experience and defensive mentality a reason why? >> definitely. you know, the experience makes the difference, it's very important. also with andre, with the size that he has, you know, we're able to switch a lot more. it takes away gaps in our defense. that was key as well.
3:07 pm
andre is a finals mvp. he knows what it takes. we fall in line with that. >> reporter: you dominated in the paint. between you shutting down lamarcus as you could and javale having such an active game, probably felt good to -- almost like a big man. >> it was great to the see javale come out and play the way he did. his focus was great. i knew he was locked in. he texted me. i was on the training table getting my ankle taped. he texted me and said, we're up on all the screens or just patty mills? i said, all right, he locked in. just the fact he texted me that, you're locked in. it showed out on the floor tonight. he did an amazing job on lamarcus. always gives us a different look on offense with the threat that he is in the middle of the paint and at the rim. i'm happy he had that game tonight the way he did. we'll continue to need that throughout the series and the rest of the playoffs. >> reporter: you've been known as the coach on the floor and tonight you were doing that, with quinn cook, some of the young guys. even on the bench you were
3:08 pm
calling guys over and coaching. is that part of your makeup you feel you have to keep everybody together? >> as the leader of this team, you know, it's important i'm talking, to hear my voice. i think it gives a sense of comfort swas well. and then things i see, as great as our coaching staff is, some things you can't see from the bench. it's kind of a feel thing. i like to relay that to the guys, try to share some of my knowledge with them and hopefully it gives us the edge. >> reporter: it's a great start to this series. >> definitely a great start. we know they'll make some adjustments. we don't feel like we're playing a perfect game so we'll make adjustments as well and hopefully we can come come out with a similar result, most importantly, just a win in game two. >> reporter: thank you. draymond green. >> thank you. 12 points, 111 assists, 2 of 6 on threes. he gave away the game plan, are we up on all the screens or just
3:09 pm
mills? he' talking about the bigs coming out to hedge and show with the possibility of a three-point shooter there. >> you have to pick your poison what you're going to do off lamarcus, and gay it's all game plan, it's all individual tendencies they're trying to take away. sometimes you can group that into one category. when you have guys like this on the spurs, when they're scoring, it's a little easier to implement that game plan. >> it was rough early for draymond. a few turnovers. then started to knock down a couple of shots. that wasn't one of them. he did start to find the basket. we'll see a montage eventually. the assist. it's a great play. it's a great play, right, because it worked. if somebody misses the three in that case, we'll have a follow-up conversation, won't we? >> draymond leading the team in assists all year, no surprise he did again today. he's just involved like that. when he's involved with no drama, no technicals, no voicing
3:10 pm
displeasure, he can be that effective. i think he can be even better, which bodes well for the warriors. as solid as his stat line was, i didn't feel draymond as much as you probably could. i think this bodes well for the warriors because if draymond can establish that baseline, not be overly involved in the game, good things to come. >> he's pretty involved in this. next on "toyota after the game," last chance to get your questions in to this guy. be gentle because apparently he's fragile today. use #dubson 7. he likes to talk about the bigs. that's his favorite thing in the world to discuss. coming
3:14 pm
this is foyle's focus. look at looney reminding me of a young adonal on the deck. >> what i like about this play, i think it's indicative of how the warriors came out of the gate tonight. they wanted to dive on the floor, they wanted the loose ball. kevon looney got like 20 minutes, 6.6 rebounds. to me is that there is a role for him. that roll right there, being the aggressive, being the guy willing to dive on the floor, that's the kind of thing i think you can make an identity for yourself and get some minutes consistently on this team. >> this is a guy we diplomat even think -- he may not be on the roster back in october. i wasn't sure if he woul be on the trip with us to china. he's carved out a spot on this roster, jordan bell hasn't been able to do a heck much a lot because of the injuries. bult but looney made himself a force in this game. >> steve will reward the experience and the hard work and the stick-to-itiveness that
3:15 pm
kevon had even when they didn't pick up his option in the fall. >> we don't know how long he'll be a what are your. ask adonal. the question, is the golden state defense back the rest of playoffs or still a work in progress? >> please, god, tell me it's back. i mean, if tonight is any indication, i think that's the way -- and there's not much more that you need to do that they did tonight. you have to understand your offense is dictated by how you play defense. if you do that and you dive on the floor for loose ball and you finish with the rebound, that's all you need to do. defense is not incredibly difficult. it just requires a lot of energy and efforts. >> one more question for ask adonal and it's about javale. can he consistently have team efforts like today? >> the big thing for me today is that the way javale played is he didn't do anything that is out of his character. he didn't shoot any three-point shots. he did the simple thing, run the floor hard, get on the offensive
3:16 pm
glass, get some rebounds, some second-chance opportunities. there is a part in this team, this team is so good offensively and everybody can shoot. but if you can run hard, get rebounds and get some putback, there is a lot of minutes available for you. and i think javale is perfect and he's understanding that right now. >> remember, this is a guy that had a lot of dnp coach's decisions. he didn't play for a big chunk of the season. was available when steve kerr needed him. came out with a burst, nine minutes in the first quarter. that's a long way for him to go early on. usually plays five or six minutes. he caught his breath and he's with mike now. >> reporter: javale mcgee, you set the tone for tonight with your energy. talking to all the players we've been talking to. is that a mind set you had coming in tonight? >> yeah, my mind set was bring energy and dry try to be real good on defense. i felt like i came out with the right mind set and it worked for
3:17 pm
us. >> reporter: you dominated in the paint, second-chance rebounds, shut down lamarcus basically. what does this do to an opposing team when you beat them down like you did today. >> it makes them go back to the drawing board. you can't take that. that's just the first game of the series. it's a series so you have to go out there the next game. especially going to san antonio with the same amount of focus we had in the first game. >> reporter: talking to draymond, he said you were texting him before the game while he was getting taped getting your picks right. are you normally this over the top, so to speak, in your preparation? >> yeah, that's probably a little over the top. i'm just really focused. when the playoffs come around, it's just like you have one shot. you lose a game, that can really change the whole series. you definitely have to be particular what you're doing. >> reporter: nobody cares who gets the attention on this team. you get the start, zaza gets the start. what is it about this team because you don't see too many teams with egos like this.
3:18 pm
>> we want to win. if the next series zaza needs to win this series, i'm not like, oh, no, what's going on? whatever we have to do to win, we're going to do. >> reporter: you've been on a lot of teams so you know that's want the case. >> that's not the case. you got people complaining, people asking for trades, stuff like that. no, here, we're all in and strength in numbers. we understand that. we're going to need everybody at one point. >> reporter: your usual scorers, k.d. and klay, both went off. took them a while. very selective in their shots but they went down. >> yeah, definitely. it took clay a little time to get warmed up but he definitely did. >> reporter: i see you on the court as javale, off the court pierre. got a new album out. 16 songs. and i know you've been -- i don't think a lot of nba players are doing this as they come up to the postseason. your releasing it, but this really means something to you, too, right? >> yeah, definitely. i wanted to release it before the playoffs so i could stay focused on basketball and get that out of my mind.
3:19 pm
it's definitely a blessing. and make sure you go out and listen to that. >> do you have any songs you got dropping any time soon? >> no. i've been so bad, man. i have none of this stuff. this is amazing. >> you had all these opportunities. next, one last chance for you to vote, abc7news.com/agt. your level of confidence in steph curry coming back for second round? is it high? no chance? look who was warming up today at oracle. video is encouraging.
3:23 pm
present by kizer be part of the action as the warriors take to the court for the 2018 nba playoffs. for verified official tickets throughout the playoffs, head to warriors.com. it's been a long year. a lot of ups and downs. obstacles along the way. this is the best time of the year and i will be back stronger than ever. starting now, i'm blocking out all the distractions. >> so, steph posted that on social media today. and he was re-evaluated because he's out with a knee strain and it's full speed ahead -- i mean, not full speed ahead right now, but they're going to continue with the rehab and they're going to check him in another week. doubtful he'll play in round one, but it seems to be
3:24 pm
encouraging, especially -- i saw him a week ago and i was like, oh, no, man, he doesn't look -- looks peg leg but he's much better now. how confident are you curry can return? not as confident as i would have thought. at least people were -- maybe they didn't see that video. how about you? >> i'm very confident. the biggest thing for me with steph is that he's going to want to come back before he's ready. that's the challenge with steve kerr is to make sure the medical stuff clears him and not allow him to clear. >> unsteady there on the hopping on one knee. what do you make of that? >> he's fine. this is all just rehab and testing of how strong his knee is with chelsea lane. the best part is the series is not going seven. that would have put pressure on steve kerr. had it gone seven, if it does go seven, you're probably going to have steph champing at the bit. this is not going any bit past five. >> i was going to ask you that later. you beat me to the punch. you saw chelsea there.
3:25 pm
she's fantastic. she's so good, she helped me with my back. that's how -- >> really? >> she can fix steph -- >> no problem. >> if you can get me up and moving. no, she's terrific. 113-102. we're waiting on kevin durant. i'm not sure we're going to get him. we'll take one more break here. i'm confident that steph is going to be back for round two, not round one. >> what i thought was interesting and i like the tractor is using steph's social media presence to take the question as way from steve. you can tell steve will get distracted by it. obviously the local media wants the answer. now national media coming in with the playoffs. it's even more. when's he back? shows you the importance of what steph does to everyone around the game. i think by doing that it aleigh ates the questions and gets steve to where he needs to be quicker. >> as k.d. would say, all those blog boys coming in, they don't know what's going on. the blog boys. steph had the shirt on today.
3:26 pm
3:27 pm
3:28 pm
3:29 pm
sunday. that will be here on abc 7. possibly a closeout game. let's hear from kevin durant. >> you know, we weren't worried about the previous possession or the possession that's coming after that. we just try to focus in on, you know, guarding our man, switching when we need to, boxing out, finishing the possession and running as well. so we'll need to be better next game because we know this team is going to make huge adjustments and be aggressive as well. we're looking forward to playing again. >> for either one of you guys, what did you think of javale's play on both the defensive and offensive ends? sort of his maturation during the second half of the season. >> i thought he was good. i thought he was locked in and focused. that's half of the battle with javale is being focused and locked in. i think he did a good job playing straight up and contesting shots and lamarcus is a great player so he'll make tough ones. i thought javale did a great job playing solid all night.
3:30 pm
also finishing when he got the ball in the pocket as well and the pick and roll. we need to continue playing, and guys that had a ball in their hands a lot, me and draymond definitely have to continue to trust him and keep encouraging him as well. hopefully he continues to play well. steph in, steph out, we still run the same stuff. you know, we still -- still getting pick and roll. the value went up a little more. throughout the season, draymond averaged seven assists, i averaged five assists, draymond averages six assists. coming off the bench he passed the ball a lot. it's not just one guy who has the ball a lot and making all the plays. that's the beauty of our team. that all of us can go off and score 30 or get eight, nine assists, grab 11 rebounds. that's the beauty of our team. all of us chip in when it comes to facilitating and
