live where you live. this is abc 7 news. and good morning everyone. i'm carolyn tyler. thanks for joining us on this sunday, april 15th. let's start with a quick look at the weather with our meteorologist lisa argen. >> good morning, carolyn. hi everyone. clouds are moving into the area. this is in advance of a cold front bringing rain, cooler conditions and breezy winds today. here's live doppler 7. you'll notice all the clouds and we widen the perspective. system coming in from the north. it's cold. not yet, though. the cold air comes behind it. 53 in hayward, oakland and san jose. 44 in santa rosa. less than a half inch of rain with wind gust toss 20 and 30 miles an hour. 10:00, booer in the 50s.

you see the front to the north and west, 2:00. it's afternoon and evening showers for the rest of us. looking at 7:00, numbers in the 50s and that's when the cold air moves in. we'll talk about chance of an isolated thunderstorm arriving for your monday morning commute coming up. carolyn? >> lisa, thank you. the united states, france and great britain are pushing the united nations to end syria's chemical weapons programs. the move comes following missile strikes after syria was suspected of using chemical weapons on its own people. abc news rorter molly hunter has new pictures of the sites targeted. >> new satellite images released showing the before and after of the target. the government research facility near damascus, this storage facility and the chemical weapons bunker. the pentagon also releasing this video, a u.s. missile emerging from the water blasting into the sky. at a briefing yesterday, the pentagon claimed success.

>> we've confident that we've significantly degraded his ability to ever use chemical weapons again. >> it's not clear that the material used in the douma attack specifically came from one of these facilities. u.s. officials out with a five-page concluded that the syrian government used chlorine and sarin in douma last weekend. they pointed the finger squarely at president assad. according to nato, european allies are all on board. >> all nato allies expressed a full support for last night's actions, which was intended to degrade the syrian regime's chemical weapons capability. >> and administration officials in d.c. and new york made clear that the u.s., u.k. and france all agree this is the start of a sustained effort. >> the syrian regime uses this poisonous gas again, the united states is locked and loaded.

>> president trump has now spoken with british prime minister theresa may and emanuel macron about how they will collectively act going forward. molly hunter, abc news. speaking out against the missile strikes in syria. news reporter lisa amin gulezian has more. >> reporter: dozens gathered on market street to take a unified public stance. against u.s. military involvement in syria. >> the u.s. has no right to attack syria, a sovereign nation. we want to stop the bombing. >> friday night the united states and its allies launched more than 100 missiles at three chemical weapons storage and research sites, retaliation after a suspected chemical attack on civilians a week ago. >> why we would actually send

these huge missiles into a country that's suffering. it hurts me inside this is what a country dozen. >> meantime, maya listened to a voice mail message from her cousin after the bombs landed in syria. though all of her relatives are safe, she admits they all want more action from the u.s. >> it's not enough. it's not sufficient. it's not going to make an impact on the ground. people will feel empty. >> according to a senior fellow at the hoover institution, more missiles could launch in a matter of weeks. >> it's not a one and done. because i think there's a distinct possibility that united states will repeat it. the idea was a good idea. i do think it was a good idea. >> currently, there are 2,000 u.s. troops stationed in syria. lisa amin gulezian, abc 7 news. happening today with tax day just about here, democrats remain focused on the tax plan recently passed by congress.

leaders have been touring the country, pointing out the impact the plan is going to have on middle class families. nancy pelosi has been hosting halls to highlight who is benefiting and who is seeing their taxes rise. the tour wraps up this afternoon in san francisco. pelosi will be among the featured speakers at the san francisco labor council. developing news now, the chp is searching for clues after someone fired shots near where an officer made a traffic stop in richmond. it happened last night around 7:00 on eastbound interstate 580 near central avenue. the chp does not believe the officer was targeted. one woman heard the shots and saw what happened next. >> suddenly, i heard a noise. at least 20 shots and then happened to be there was one police car parked there with another truck and then i saw the police jump into his car and chasing down the road.

>> abc 7 news was in berkeley after police received calls about a car with several bullet holes. officers found the car at mable and haskell streets and are trying to determine if it is linked to that shooting in richmond. abc 7 news was in downtown walnut creek when a fire broke out inside a restaurant called sauced barbecue and spirits. flames started just after 6:00 and firefighters kept them from spreading to nearby businesses along locust street. fire officials say it was likely an accident caused by a malfunctioning light fixture. bay area college and high school students along with other activists for gun control gathered outside the palace protesting one of the country's biggest gun shows. abc 7 news was in daly city where a small group of demonstrators showed up at the crossroads of the west gun show. they're calling for stronger control laws. >> not saying i'm against guns. i'm saying i'm against gun

violence and incompetent want to do everything i can and i want legislation to do everything they can to ensure that guns are distributed in a way which is considering the safety of the american public as their first and primary concern. >> one gun show attendee said he did not have a problem with people pushing for stronger gun control but believes current background checks are enough. starbucks is apologizing after accusations of racial discrimination. bob brooks from our sister station in philadelphia shows us the video that's gone viral. >> it was early thursday afternoon. cell phone video captures the moment two men sitting inside the starbucks on 18th and spruce were asked to leave. the reason why? that depends on who you ask. the manager at starbucks called the police, saying that the two men were trespassing because they had not purchased anything. >> what did they do? tell me what they did. >> they didn't do anything. >> when they didn't leave, they

were arrested and jailed. you can hear patrons inside are as puzzled as the two men who spoke their attorney. she says her clients were waiting for a third person to conduct a business meeting. >> thousands of people do it every single day across the country. starbucks cultivated this community where you can meet there. >> she also believes they were targeted because they were black. >> in the end, this is a case about race and in the age of social media, companies will have to be held accountable for discriminatory practices. >> wimmer says her clients were released by 2:00 a.m. friday morning from jail. the story started to go viral and police weighed in. >> according to employees, they had seen the two males come in, they sat down and after being seated, they decided that they needed to use the restroom. starbucks said that, according to their company policy, they do not allow nonpaying members or

nonpaying people of the public to come in and use the restroom. >> he also says when the officers arrived, the two men were asked several times to leave but didn't. and he says that's when they were justly arrested. >> these officers did absolutely nothing wrong. they followed policy. they did what they were supposed to do. >> starbucks says it's investigating the incident and sent out an apology. we're disappointed this led to an arrest. >> that was bob brooks reporting. the video, by the way, was posted to twitter and now has more than 2 million views. it has also prompted an internal investigation within the philadelphia police department. let's get a check now of the accuweather forecast with lisa. >> things are changing. hope you enjoyed the warm sun yesterday. we've got clouds moving in and rain later on this afternoon. breezy winds and going to linger into your monday morning. 53 in oakland and hayward.

surprising at this early hour. beautiful weather yesterday. what about today? lisa around shortly with the full accuweather forecast. >> two, one. and liftoff of united -- >> a russian-built rocket blabsed off from florida last night carrying a satellite for the u.s. air force, along with another spacecraft that will conduct multiple experiments. the air force says the satellite will help upgrade its global communications. a lost piece of bay area history unearthed at a flea market and shown for the first time this weekend to the public. it is rare footage of san francisco following the 1906 earthquake. it will end up on the library of congress. abc 7 news reporter katie utehs shows it to you first. >> i knew this was going to be special. >> reporter: david keen threads the projector.

>> this is the way they done it since the 1890s really. >> reporter: he restores the films. the edison theater in niles is a historic gem, built in 1913. charlie chaplin used to watch movies here. this premiere is of a film nearly lost to history. >> this is, he know, the missing niles brother's film. it's been missing for 100 years. until now, we've not known where it is. >> the niles brother shot trip down market street in the nights before the earthquake and fire. >> they shot almost two hours of film after the earthquake and very little of it survives. this is one of the longest surviving pieces. >> reporter: the lost footage was discovered last year at the alameda flea market in fragile condition. >> i set up a digital camera that would take a single frame for each frame of the film. so 8,655 frames of film later, i

was able to put it on the computer. >> descendants of the brothers are seeing a public debut. >> it's blowing my mind. this whole part of my family history that i grew up not knowing about. >> it's like a book end to the trip down market street. >> it will be converted back to film so it will last another 100 years. >> it's scary to think there's something out there that we almost missed. makes you wonder, what else is out there? >> after being shown in june, it will be posted online for everyone to see. >> it really it priceless. >> in niles, katie utehs, abc 7 news. that is really spectacular. veterans and gold star families unveiled a new monument to honor america's fallen warriors in san jose. abc 7 news was at oak hill memorial park for the ceremony

honoring the parents, the gold star moms and dads as well. they are the ones who have lost children defending our country. one of the speakers lost his son who served in iraq. >> we always want our family to be remembered and always want our children to make a difference in this world. i'm more than confident adam did through his service and through the wonderful stories of his fellow servicemen. >> god bless america ♪ >> the park provided the space for the monument and santa clara county paid for part of the building costs. the los angeles police department has confiscated $700,000 worth of counterfeit makeup that tested positive for human waste. they raided 21 businesses in the fashion district in l.a. following customer complaints of makeup causing skin problems. police posted photos of them on

twitter. quoting the best price is not always the best deal. some of the seized fakes included you are -- >> trademark violations. today is day three of the first weekend of the coachella valley music and arts festival. at least a dozen people are missing out because of an online ticket scam. one of the victims from san francisco says she bought opening weekend tickets for $700 from hdt ticks. she got an information e-mail to pick them up in indio. >> there are a couple of people and they looked really confused. there wasn't anyone who had our tickets. they said that the man who had our tickets checked out yesterday. and that he was gone. >> that htdtixx is no longer replying to e-mails. nobody picks up the customer service line. >> at least three deaths are

being blamed on a storm that hit several states with heavy rain. even snow. you can see the conditions drivers faced near minneapolis. 50 mile per hour winds made visibility worse by blowing snow on the roads around the great lakes. while snow fell across the upper midwest, hail fell on texas. at least one tornado hit arkansas. thousands of people lost power because of the storm system. >> now your accuweather forecast with lisa argen. >> certainly not alone in our unusual weather. live doppler 7 showing the cloud cover and a cold front that will be on the way later on today and associated with that, much cooler air even beginning today. 10 to 15 degrees cooler and monday we get that unstable air that pushes in. that will allow for chance of thunderstorms. but right now, with the cloud cover, it's quite mild. low 50s. hayward and oakland. 48 novato. 44 in santa rose on the coast. we are milder and right now the

golden gate bridge, you can notice nobody is there except for that guy and that guy. cooler, breezy with rain today. isolated thunderstorms tomorrow. sunny and warmer by end of the week. in system ranking 1 on the storm impact scale. light amounts, less than a half inch for most of you. the winds kicking up to near 30 miles per hour. it's going to be awfully chilly out there. yesterday all that sunshine and we time out the system for you. 2:00 in santa rosa. most of the day will be dry and then by the afternoon, this front marches to the south. 4:00, you can see the rain from i-80, vallejo, the peninsula, the coast and then the south bay. see that rain shadow effect. scattered showers for the evening hours and then into your monday morning commute, 6:00, this is when and where we could see showers just about anywhere at any time. some of those heavy downpours through the day. rainfall amounts, yes, they're light. anywhere from .2 inch to a third of an inch in santa rosa.

this is through 4:00 monday morning. we will see some showers on through the afternoon. in the sierra nevada, still looking at that snow. a winter weather advisory from 2:00 this afternoon, until 8:00 tomorrow night. 3 to 6 inches of snow below 7,000 feet. but up to a foot above 7,000 feet. heavy snow arriving this evening. amounts, quite impressive for mid-april. how about a foot to over a foot around kirkwood, donner, 11 inches incline about 5 inches. highs today with the front on the way, much cooler. in the upper 50s in the north bay. those breezy winds, low 60s in oakland. upper 60s in san jose. the bulk of the day will be dry for most of you. and then the afternoon showers from the north spreading south. tomorrow morning, scattered showers, mid-40s to low 50s and the accuweather seven-day forecast, a 1 on the storm impact scale today with afternoon showers. thunderstorms, but look at the

michael finney teamed up with consumer reports to see which airlines did best and which failed short. >> we all have our pet peeves about flying. >> bad customer service is my pet peeve. the chair is terrible. >> not enough overhead baggage. just crazy. >> consumer reports surveyed over 50,000 members and asked them to rate their economy flights. >> one of the things that stood out is how satisfied people are with the service that they receive by the arlts airlines. >> there were note alex sepgss. discount carriers, spirit and frontier received low marks across the board, including flight status updates, wi-fi connectivity and food selection. rising to the top, southwest, alaska, jetblue, virgin america and hawaiian led the way with economy flights. >> southwest really stood out, especially for their price transparen transparency. they were the only one that

received such high marks in terms of just how well they explain all of the fees that get added on to passengers' tickets when booking. >> all 11 of the airlines receive low marks for seat comfort, leg room and food selection. for many flyers, prior history and experience with an airline was not a major factor when picking their flight. why do consumers choose one airline over another? >> choose it for the price. and choose it to make sure we don't have no stopovers. >> depending on rates and so forth is how i would determine what airline i would use. >> look for price, convenience, airline that's going to where we want to go. >> i'm michael finney, 7 on your side. >> when you're looking for a flight, consumer reports advises you pay close attention to the ancillary fees, not just looking at the base fares. if you're brave enough, you

can rent a so-called haunted state room aboard the former super liner ship dock in long beach. the queen mary claims to be one of the top ten haunted places in the u.s. and state room b 340 is said to be the most haunted place aboard the ship. no guests have stayed in that room for at least 30 years until now. the queen mary started renting out state room b-340 friday in honor of it being friday the 13th. it rents for $499 per night. still to come on abc 7 mornings, countdown to james comey's first interview since being fired. just ahead, the latest comey revelation, the one that hillary clinton believes cost her the presidency. and lawyers for president trump and his personal attorney will be back in court tomorrow. investigators are looking for secret deals made outside the campaign to protect the president.

welcome back everyone. we're starting this half hour with a look at the weather with our meteorologist lisa argen. >> it's certainly changing, carolyn. good morning everyone. we have clouds and a cold front to the north and west of us. live doppler 7 showing that we're dry. but the pacific northwest and northern california looking at cold rain that is on the way today. low 50s in the city. it's 49 in morgan hill. mid-40s in the north bay. visibility is fine but the winds will kick up and the sky cover today will allow for much cooler day. the rain hold off until later on, though. we'll have breezy showers for the evening hours and looking at a couple breaks throughout the week. more clouds and certainly a spring-like pattern. pulling it all together for you in a few minutes. carolyn? >> thank you, lisa. we have a new excerpt from abc's exclusive tell-all interview with former fbi director james

prosecutors' access to the documents the fbi swept up in their raids. abc news reporter kenneth moton has the details. >> this image of president trump's personal attorney, michael cohen enjoying a spring day in new york as federal prosecutors nearby revealed he's been under criminal investigation for months. attorneys for both the president and cohen in federal court on friday fighting to keep seized documents and recording swept up in an fbi raid this week out of prosecutors' hands. the lawyers arguing attorney-client privilege. >> why do you think they raided your office and the hotel room? >> federal investigators looking into possible secret deals that he made to protect then candidate donald trump in 2016. including the $130,000 paid to adult film star stormy to keep quiet about the alleged affair.

the president even called cohen friday to check in. the judge is now ordering cohen's attorneys to hand over a list of clients to help determine what's privileged and what's not. that judge appeared to be frustrated cohen wasn't in court. she ordered that he be there monday before she decides prosecutors can cree view the items seized. a fire tore through a music studio. firefighters say they got a call yesterday morning that the top notch recording studio was on fire with people inside. crews discovered four people, the two who died and two others in critical condition. a firefighter says it was a risky operation. >> when we have folks trapped inside, we take extreme personal risk to make sure to save lives. they went inside, fighting the conditions of a well-involved fire inside the initial portion
