president's reaction to that now infamous dossier. >> i think as graphic as i needed to be. i did not go into the business about people peeing on each other. he went on to do i look like a guy who needs hookers. i said sir, we're not saying we believe it, but we want you to know. >> what was the look on his face? >> he was very defensive and how he hadn't done this, he hadn't done that. >> did you believe his denial? >> i honestly never thought these words would come out of my mouth. but i don't know whether the president of the united states was with prostitutes in moscow 2013 with them peeing on each other. it's possible but i don't know. >> the president accused comey

of leaking classified information and suggested he should be jailed. >> a lot to unfold there, and the interview kicks off a public rollout of comey's book "a higher loyalty." >> in it, he tries to explain his controversial decision involving the hillary clinton e-mail investigation. >> the moment that totally rocked the political world was when james comey admitted that when he reopened the investigation into hillary clinton's e-mails his decision to go public might have been influenced by her poll numbers. >> i don't remember consciously thinking about it, but it must have been. i was operating in a world where hillary clinton was going to beat donald trump, so i'm sure it was a factor. like i said, i don't remember spelling it out, but it had to have been, that she's going to be elected president. and if i hide this from the american people, she'll be illegitimate the moment she's elected, the moment this comes out. >> this caught the ire of democrats who say comey treated

due later in court today, and the porn star, stormy daniels plans to appear today too. >> reporter: michael cohen will likely come face-to-face with the porn star he paid off. president trump is highly interested in the outcome. he is outraged by the fbi's raid on his lawyer, claiming attorney/client privilege is a thing of the past. i have many lawyers, and they're probably wondering when their offices and homes are going to be raided. investigators are looking into possible secret deals cohen may have made to protect candidate trump, one of them with stormy daniels. daniels claims to have had a sexual encounter with trump in 2006. just days before the election, cohen paid her $130,000 to keep

quiet. her attorney, michael avenatti in a tweet referenced this scene from "the godfather ii", where the star witness recants. avenatti claims she will be in court even though she's not a party to this hearing. >> is that intended to provoke him, to get into his head? >> no, not at all. >> reporter: cohen and his attorneys are now ordered to hand over a list of clients so the judge can determine what evidence federal investigators will be allowed to review. cohen needs to be in court for one thing, to identify who his clients are. so that the court can make some reasonable judgments about the thousands, if not millions, of pages of documents his lawyers want to keep out of fbi's hands. david wright, abc news, the white house. kentucky's governor is apologizing for comments he made, but many aren't accepting

it. the republican governor there, matt bevin declared that children had been sexually abused at home all because of last week's teacher protests that closed schools. he said he was sorry that some people were hurt by that comment. even state legislators in his own party voted to condemn the remarks. a new york man is under arrest after police investigating a school threat found an arsenal in his home. >> robert zach allegedly left a phone message for a worker at a special needs school he once attended. police say when they went to his house in lindenhurst they found weapons and a silencer. they believe he is holding a grudge from a teacher 16 years ago. marathon day, patriots day, but five years since that finish line bombing.

happen any prosecution he may have. he has not been charged. more than 200 million eggs are being recalled due to salmonella. >> they were produced by rose acre farms. 22 people have become ill. the eggs were sold in nine states, mostly along the east coast. consumers are urged to contact rose acre farms if they are worried their eggs may be subject to the recall. and the recall falls the recall on lettuce. 35 people in 11 states have reported becoming sick at the end of last month. all the victims reported eating at restaurants that used bagged romaine lettuce. the next step in the bid to buyout the toys "r" us chain will be decided by a bankruptcy court. a $900 million bid was given.

>> the room had televisions on the wall, and i saw comey resigns on the back screens. >> reporter: resigns? >> yeah, said resigns. and then it changed to comey fired. and now i'm staring at it, and the audience can see my face change. they start turning around, looking at the back. then i went into a room to find out, have i been fired? because i did not expect to be fired. >> what's your first thought? >> that's crazy. how could that be? >> weren't you angry? >> i don't remember being angry. i thought it's crazy to fire me. i'm leading the investigation into russian influence and in particular anyone in the trump orbit had conspired with the russians. that makes no sense at all. >> reporter: stunned by the news, comey heads to the airport. it would be his last flight on the fbi jet. >> so you're in that private jet basically alone. what did you do? >> i drank red wine out of a paper coffee cup and looked down at the lights of the country

that i love. over in a flash. >> reporter: almost a year's passed since comey was fired by president trump. since then, he's come to some stark conclusions about the use of power and moral leadership. you write that the president is unethical, untethered to the truth. is donald trump unfit to be president? >> yes. but not in the way i often hear people talk about it. i don't buy the stuff about him being mentally incompetent or early stages of dementia. he strikes me as a person above average intelligence tracking conversations and knows what's going on. i don't think he's medically unfit to be president, i think he's morally unfit to be president. the person who sees moral equivalence in charlottesville, the most important in our country is truth. this president is not able to do that. he's morally unfit to be

president. >> if you're right, what is the remedy. should donald trump be impeached? >> impeachment is a matter of law. i think impeaching and removing donald trump from office would let the american people off the hook and let something happen indirectly that i believe they're duty bound to do directly. people need to stand up, go to the voting booth and vote their values. impeachment in a way would short circuit that. >> some of the other headlines, of course, him saying that he thinks the president is compromised possibly by the russians. we talked about that plane flight. there was a little bit of debate going back and forth on whether or not he would be allowed on that plane. >> he got the good wine in the good cup. wine in the

and they got knocked around by the pacers, but who will get the last laugh? i think it might be kendis on this monday, april 16. >> that video is awesome. from abc news, this is "world news now." >> man, there were a lot of people who were booing the cavs during the first half of their game, so quite a series there. there was quite a bit of back and forth that took place over the weekend involving the president and the former fbi director, james comey. he had a blistering attack of the president, calling him morally unfit for the office. >> in his first interview since being fired, comey told abc's george stephanopoulos that the president does not adhere to the country's core values. he also said it's possible the russians have compromising information on the president and that there is certainly some evidence of obstruction of justice. elizabeth hur has more.

>> the interview, james comey. >> reporter: former fbi director james comey sitting down with abc's george stephanopoulos in his first prime time interview. >> and what part of you is thinking i helped elect donald trump? >> a whole lot of me was thinking, oh, my god, did we have some role in this? >> reporter: revealing new details of some of the most controversial choices of his career. >> the norm is, if you can avoid it, you take no action that might have an impact on the election, and i can't see a door that's labeled no action here. >> reporter: just 11 days before the election, comey maintains he had no choice. he also recalls his first impression of president trump. >> he had impressively coifed hair. tie is too long as it always is. he looked slightly orange up close. >> reporter: he likened trump to a mob boss.

>> not trying to suggest that president trump is out breaking legs and shaking down shopkeepers. what i'm talking about is that leadership culture. >> reporter: in a series of tweets sunday president trump fired back, insisting he never demanded loyalty, writing slippery james comey out of whack. he's not smart, will go down as the worst fbi director in history by far. >> you write that president trump is unethical, untethered to the truth. is donald trump unfit to be president? >> yes. president must embody respect and adhere to the values that are at the core of this country. the most important being truth. this president is not able to do that. he is morally unfit to be president. >> reporter: comey says his new book is about ethical leadership, tweeting that three presidents are in his book, two helped illustrate the values of leadership and one serves as a counterpoint. kendis and diane?

>> that book is going to be released tomorrow. there were quite a few headlines that came out of that. >> a lot to digest. one of them being that the russians might have something on the president. >> that the president might be compromised. >> he's super vague about that. it's something i don't really know, but i can't say i feel sure that it's not. it's all these double negatives. >> he's a trained law enforcement person. there's no way he would say anything that would damage the investigation that is ongoing right now. so the entire interview was five hours. all we saw was about 45 minutes. interesting stuff out there. >> there's a lot in that book. we also have a new abc poll out with the "washington post." that found that 48% of americans compared to 32% said they found comey to be more credible than

the president, but the poll also found only 30% view him favorably, 32% said unfavorably. neither one of them is looking super great to the american public right now. >> there's still a gap between how many people believe the president versus jim comey. >> versus the former fbi director. >> mm-hm. it's a he said-he said right now. and the president wants himself to first comb through all the recordings and documents before investigators are allowed to review them. it will be a showdown today, michael cohen has been ordered to appear in court and stormy daniels is also expected there. that of course is the porn star that cohen paid to keep quiet about an alleged affair with the president. >> i strongly believe within the next 90 days we're going to see an unsealing of an indictment against mr. cohen for a host of very serious offenses, and i believe, jake, that is going to be a significant domino that's going to fall in connection with this.

>> in requesting that review, the president's lawyers cite a vital interest in attorney/client privilege. the president tweeted attorney/client privilege is now a thing of the past. i have many lawyers, and they are probably wondering when their offices and even homes are going to be raided. the former first lady, barbara bush is now surrounded by family members who say she's in failing health. she is suffering from heart and respiratory failure. family members started gathering last wednesday to be with her. she's being offered what's called comfort care instead of additional medical treatment. bush is the second woman ever to be the wife and mother of a u.s. president. she of course has been married to george h.w. bush for more than 73 years. and the u.s. will follow airstrikes in syria with new sanctions against russia.

over the weekend, u.s., britain and france fired more than 100 missiles on three chemical weapons sites and the military says they successfully hit every target. >> reporter: syria called it their scientific research center, now apparently wiped away by u.s.-led airstrikes. chemicals once used to hit civilians now themselves the target. and yet a week since that incident and still chemical inspectors wait to begin their work, meeting with a deputy foreign minister at their damascus hotel, it's still a no-go zone, even though russian troops had almost immediate access and said they found no signs of toxic gas. the white house disputing that claim, saying they have evidence that sarin and chlorine were used in the attack. nikki haley declaring the u.s. is set to announce new sanctions against syria. this, as syria's president bashar al assad met with the russian delegation expressing gratitude for military help

which they claim helped shoot down 71 coalition rockets. truth has long been a victim in syria's long civil war. they warned that any further strikes could lead to chaos in relations. this war is far from over. james longman, beirut. there is a massive spring storm affecting much of the country. >> it brought heavy snow to the great lakes and severe storms to the south. another tornado brought heavy rains to charlotte. the air control tower was even evacuated for a short time. >> in the midwest, they're saying why, though, a winter storm warning is in effect

overnight in western wisconsin, travel was all at but at a standstill. this is interstate 94. we get the latest from paul williams. >> good morning, we have a double-headed monster, one that's going to bring heavy rain to boston and new york and an icy mix in maine, vermont and new hampshire and another low pressure system that's going to be widespread snow and flurries throughout the ohio valley region. unsettled for the northwest part of the country, and in the southwest, we need the rain because now we have a high fire danger, with winds at 55 miles per hour. kendis, diane? and a florida woman says she's appealing after a judge ordered her to share her dog with her former neighbor. >> tina walker bought the lab two years ago, but her neighbor recently sued for custody, claiming he was the dog's main caretaker.

>> reporter: this minnesota grandmother the subject of a manhunt and murders 1700 miles apart. police say she shot her husband in their rural minnesota home in march, then took off in their cadillac escalade, soon spotted at a casino. she allegedly drove to ft. myers florida and befriended pamela hutchinson, a stranger, bearing a similar appearance before shooting her to death. police revealing these images that show her leaving her hotel. they found the victim's purse in disarray. cash, credit cards, ids missing. her white acura sedan stolen. >> her mode of operation is to befriend women who resemble her and steal their identity. >> reporter: officials connecting the crimes.
