privilege before prosecutors can study it. adult film actress stormy daniels will be at today's hearing, in a legal battle over a $130,000 agreement for her to keep quiet about a sexual n counter she claims she had with president trump. south carolina authorities say seven inmates are dead, 17 more are injured after an eight-hour prison riot happened at the lee correctional institute in the town of bishopville northeast of columbia. officials say inmates began fighting shortly after 7:00 last night. guards could not secure the building until about 3:00 this morning. ambulances from at least seven jurisdictions tended to the wounded. the maximum security facility houses about 1,500 inmates, some of them south carolina's most violent and longest serving offenders. napa police are investigating the death of a woman after her body was found at the school.

the department shared these photos on their facebook page. police say there is no threat to public safety. school will likely open today. anyone with information is asked to contact napa police. happening today, a group plans to provide the details of what they call obstruction of justice about a redevelopment project at san francisco's hunter's point naval shipyard. united public workers for action say they have evidence that congresswoman nancy pelosi and senator dianne feinstein refuse to investigate the fraud cleanup at the shipyard. two months ago the u.s. navy admitted the contractor did not clean up radioactive waste like it promised. good morning to you. we certainly are waking up to wet pavement. look at some of these storms that are offshore, and they will be with us throughout the day today. some heavier downpours, even an

isolated thunderstorm. point reyes along the coast. this is marin county along highway 101. out towards livermore and dublin, 680 and 580, wet weather. amount hamilton looking at a rain snow mix right now. you'll notice there are thunderstorms out there and this is moving pretty much from the west to the east. they will be with us as we get more sunshine throughout the day. better chance of some stronger downpours. use caution today on the the ferries. the gusty winds, there will be slippery spots. 50 in san jose, 40 in novato. we are from two to seven degrees colder this morning. we started that trend yesterday. today look at the narrow range, 53 in the city, 55 in fremont. not only some heavy downpours or some hail, but the possibility of a thunderstorm is with us as well. then looking at the overnight lows tonight, we'll see some 40s

mission buld. and 101 to cupertino looks great at 16 minutes. starting today your commute on caltrain may go a little smoother. caltrain launching a pilot program that allows bicyclist to board bike cars first. the idea is to make boarding process faster, more efficient. the bikers board first program will be tested only on northbound trains at the mountain view, palo alto and redwood city stations from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. weekdays. transit will add to the fleet of cleaner burning vehicles with the addition of two all-electric buses. 23 of the agency's hybrid buses like these already use a cleaner burning diesel. the other 18 will be switched to that fuel this summer. marin transit says while the manufacturer of the buses is in china, the vehicles will be built in california. the battery-powered buses are part of $1.6 million pilot project to get cleaner burning vehicles on the road. coming up, growing opposition to california's sanctuary status. the parts of the state planning

this is abc 7 mornings. >> widening the perspective and looking at the state, we have showers along the central coast, 54 in monterey and a mix of rain and snow in the higher elevations, so certainly a much colder day from north to south, 60s in los angeles. a winter weather advisory in effect for sierra nevada. four to eight inches until 11:00 p.m. and could see a foot up to 7,000 feet. slick out there as the system works threw the area. snowshowers, 32 in the mountains, sunny, milder the next couple of days. will there be anymore snow? i'll let you know in a few minutes. >> lisa, thank you. opposition to california's sanctuary law are growing. today leaders in loss al meade does and orange county will

decide whether to exempt them from the state law. at least a dozen california cities are taking action against the state's sanctuary status and siding with the federal government. san diego's county board of supervisor will discuss the issue tomorrow. the trump administration is expected to announce more sanctions today against russia for enabling the syrian government to continue using chemical weapons. u.s. ambassador nikki haley insists the u.s. has sent a strong message. she says the sanctions would specifically target companies that make chemical weapons or do business with syrian president bashar al assad. here is a closer look at the damage caused by the coalition strike on syria. satellite images show aerial views before and after the strike. the pent got says it targeted chemical weapons facilities. buildings were wiped away. the friday attack was in response to an alleged chemical

attack in syria. inspectors are there to investigate. a company in france is building a hyper loop test track in the city of toluse. this is video from the hyper loop transportation technologies. it shows the arrival of the first components of the system, a series of huge tubes. the tubes will form a sealed vacuum through which a passenger pod would be sent at speeds as high as 700 miles per hour. hyper loop technology says its passenger pod is near completion. a study shows californians tend to save at a higher percentage. it took into account personal savings, credit utilization and late payments. five of the top ten who are most financially savvy come from california. san francisco is number one with a perfect score. santa maria two, salinas five,

to add to destabilizing the atmosphere. that's when we can see an isolated thunderstorm. the sun can continue in the sierra nevada. as the isolated storms become fewer and far between, the rain will end. here is the amounts as we go through the rest of the day today. maybe .2 in novato, .10 in mountain view. most like likly will have the sun dodging a few showers. 54 in oakland, 55 in palo alto. still breezy winds at the coast. once again tonight, looking at those colder inland valleys in the 30s, closer to the bay in the 40s. just a little wet weather today, enough to mess up the morning commute and alexis has details on what to expect. >> we already have a couple issues this morning, lisa, including the north bay where we had a crash about 30 minutes ago in southbound 101 at spencer avenue. that's still blocking the two right lanes. chp running traffic breaks through the area while they get

good monday morning. waking up to scattered showers, cool temperatures and breezy winds. don't leave the house without your umbrella. you can see the rain towards port reyes, san francisco, over into 880 in oakland. scattered showers and maybe even a few heavy downpours today.

the scattered showers here today throughout the day will continue in this cold environment. in fact we'll look at numbers today from ten to 15 degrees below average. it ooes going to be a chilly one out there. back to winter for one day. >> lisa, thank you. >> scientists are reportedly working on a drug to end the opioid addiction. "the new york times" reports an experimental vaccine could be available to those already hooked on heroin. doctors say the vaccine is to block opioids from reaching the brain. it will take at least a decade of testing. president trump is pushing to expand the use of medication to treat addiction, an issue bringing republicans and democrats together. a growing threat to the redwood forest, marijuana. they're in jeopardy as the legal pot industry expands. cannabis requires a lot of water and sunlight to grow which

encourages farmers to clear trees and deplete water resources. american pop band portugal rounded off the performances at coachella valley music and arts festival. ♪ >> the band treated tens of thousands of festival goers to big screen animation during their one-hour set on the main stage. music fans were still reeling from beyonce's two-hour performance where she reunited with destiny's child. the first black woman to headline the annual festival. she's scheduled to perform again on the main stage next weekend. everyone was talking about that this weekend, lisa. >> absolutely. they had all the sundown there. another beautiful day. yesterday things really changed. today we're looking at a storm impact scale. light to moderate showers with us throughout the day.

an isolated thunderstorm is possible and temperatures look like this, in the low 40s to around 50 degrees. we'll be looking at maybe even a few flakes of snow around mt. hamilton. if you're in the south bay today, wow, it was 73 before that cold front pushed on through. highs stayed just in the 50s with the rain showers. we will be looking at a dry golden gate now. but wouldn't be surprised to have slippery roads throughout the day. it will be damp and breezy and waves certainly on the bay. taking a look at the roads here, no metering lights yet for the bay bridge toll plaza. we have a stackup in the cash lanes on either side of the toll plaza. usually the metering lights flip on about 5:20, 5:25 on a weekday morning. a little sheen on the pavement, too. so far drive times for the most part looking good. southbound 680 highway 4 to walnut creek, six minutes. eight minutes walnut creek to 13. the only one in the red, no

surprise, tracy to dublin, up to 53 minutes. we just had a shower push through the area. i'm guessing that's added to the slowdown. four baboons escaped a research facility in texas surprising drivers. it happened at the texas biomedical rchl institute in san antonio. cell phone video shows one of the baboons running from the people trying to catch it. a shocked woman said she didn't know what to think. >> all of a sudden, this brown big mass pops out of the bushes. okay, that's a big dog. it's a wild animal. it's a monkey. >> the baboons were caught within 30 minutes of their escape. it took a little longer to get the fourth. institute officials still aren't sure how the animals got out the enclosure and past a perimeter. >> she's right. that would be a weirdside to see. >> a strange squirrel or opossum going buy.

a weekend that started on friday 13th ended with three monster movies topping the box office. >> a remake of a classic city destroying a video game. critics are giving it mixed reviews. the movie scored 50% on rotten tomatoes, but audiences loved it. scored an a minus.
