emeryville tower cameras and we have team coverage of this morning's wild weather for you. >> let's begin with spencer christian on what is happening outside. >> i'm happy to say the weather is calmer. there is a lot of thunderstorm active into the east and the central valley and into the sierra foothills but the overall picture is quiet, but down in the south bay downpours in gill ray and snow atop mt. hamilton. wide-ranging totals a third of an inch in san francisco, two tenths down in san jose. the storm still ranks one on the storm impact scale for the next few hours we'll see more scattered showers and possibly isolated thunderstorms with gusts 25 to 30 miles per hour. let's start our forecast animation at 5:00. between 5:00 and 6:00 into 7:00

p.m., just widely scattered isolated showers but by about 9:00 it is just about over and a winter weather advisory until 11:00 for the central sierra. >> spencer, thank you. and well what a scene in oakland this morning. sky 7 was over the oakland hills where it was white for miles. that is hail but it sure looks like snow and it did cause a lot of problem. >> katie udis is live in oakland with the aftermath of it all. >> reporter: the roadways are clear but we may have found you the last pile of hail and want to show you, it is significant in size. we have marble size pieces of hail and it caused a lot of problems on the roadways this morning. and for many oakland school students it is the closest they'll ever be to a snow day. oakland public works crews sanded and scraped trying to clear redwood rode. >> this is my first time seeing this to this degree.

>> reporter: but for skyline high school students, it was too late. >> it is like a snow day in oakland. >> reporter: kind of -- a.c. transit slipped and stopped while attempting to make it up the hill. >> it was scary because i didn't know if we had traction but then it just kept sliding but we stopped eventually. >> reporter: sky 7 shows the back-up. a.c. transit held buses at joaquin miller, skyline and redwood roads. the dangerous conditions ruined the commute to skyline and the nearby elementary, some people might not have been able to get here. we're operating on what is called a reverse minimum day, not ending early but starting late. >> my mom got a call from the school saying still come to school. >> some tried to traverse the hill. >> it was all ice on the ground and i -- i slid so many times. >> reporter: other scrapped it, saying for them hail counts as a snow day. >> half way up the hill and say everybody walking down and i'm just like, so is school

canceled, no, but we're all going home. >> reporter: an opportunity to go home, not to be missed for high school students. the district said they will forgive the absences and tardies the last time they did this was during the north bay fires when the schools were inundated with smoke. abc 7 news. and so many hail fell that people had to do a double take. amy hollyfield has reaction. >> >> reporter: my daughter goes to the preschool and we were sliding. it was like tahoe and it was crazy and just covered. >> reporter: oakland receiveds say it was part -- residents said it was scary. >> big chunks coming down and had to check my car twice because it is like -- it was

download the abc 7 news app to get the latest on weather where you live and keep track of live doppler 7 and enable the push alerts to get up dates as they happen. the weather caused a scare for passengers aboard a private jet heading to san jose international airport. officials say a falcon 2,000 belonging to clipper jet was five miles west of the airport and struck by lightning around 9:30 this morning. eight passengers were on board and no one was board. they are a commercial based jet service. and people felt a earthquake this morning. it was recorded as a 3.9 magnitude but the -- they downgraded it to a 3.8, it was near alum rock and there weren't any injuries or damage. and we wouldn't expect it for a quake that size. and guidelines for stocking a emergency kit and emergency plans are there at our website

abc7news.com under prepare nor cal. developing news in san francisco where just over an hour ago the city attorney issued a cease and desist order for companies running a service. >> and we're live at city hall with details. cornell. >> reporter: two weeks after they appeared on the streets of san francisco, the san francisco city attorney making it very clear today that companies operating these scooters have to play by the rules when it comes to riding them. just a few moments ago, a cease and desist order was issued by the san francisco city attorney and he says that three scooter companies have continued to operate under unpermitted motorized scooter rental program in the city and the county of san francisco creating a public nuisance and endangering public health and safety. right now the san francisco land use and transportation commit i is holding a hearing about

scooters. the supervisor erin peskin wants companies to go through the permit process and operate safely on city streets and not on sidewalks. >> this is common sense legislation to make sure that sidewalks are for people walking and are safe and that these scooters that riegd now go 15 miles per hour are in the streets and that people who use them as required by state law have helmets -- >> do you think the scooters are a hazard. >> when they are ridden on the sidewalk, they are absolutely. they are supposed to be ridden in the street and in the street they are not a hazard to people walking but on the sidewalk, absolutely. >> reporter: now we got a statement from bird scooters about the cease and desist order. company said we just received it and are reviewing it. we'll be in touch when we have more comments. the city attorney said the scooter companies have until april 30th to comply with traffic laws in california and the city of san francisco.

or face possible legal action. in san francisco, cornell bernard, abc 7 news. >> thank you. another tragic turn in the search for a missing southern california family. dive teams with the mendocino county sheriff's office found the family vehicle and they found the bodies. the family was driving back to california from oregon with a planned stop in san jose when the suv plunged into the river on march 30th. searchers found the mother's body on friday and the search continues for the search of the 12-year-old son. san francisco police are looking for the driver who crashed into a house in the outer sunset this morning around 2:15 on 37th near slope boulevard. the driver ran and left the passenger behind and she was taken to the hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries and police are investigating what led up to the crash. the marin county sheriff's

office released this man suspected of breaking into a home and stealing a rifle. the man was arrested around 11:00 this morning and workers saw him walking around the facility with the weapon at about 6:00 this morning. police say the break-in took place just after midnight. a major honor for former san francisco supervisor harvey milk. mayor mark farrell signed legislation to rename terminal one at san francisco international airport in his honor. the the first openly gay man to be elected to the board, he was assassinated with the mayor george mascone in 1978 and today the mayor singled him out for his courage and standing up for gay rights. >> 40 years ago those ideas still frightened people. they made people uncomfortable, they made people react in different ways and harvey now this message put him in danger but he persisted nonetheless,

there is a lack of motivation and sloppy play. there is injuries and just not the warriors that we're used to seeing. well, guess what? they flipped the switch and came out and played well in game one against the spurs. in fact beat them by 21 points. they played aggressive defense like the vintage dubs that we haven't seen in a while and cruised to the victory. it seemed so easy the question they had to face after the game was all about complacency, can they stay locked in mentally against a spurs team missing its best player in it injured kawhi leonard. >> it is great when you win. and we have [ inaudible ]. so it is good to play that we but let's make sure we keep that sense of urgency and play with the edge. >> we respect our opponent and who we play but we can -- we could dictate a lot of game by how we approach it so it should be how we come in every single

excited. >> david louie is live outside of the shark tank where a street fest is about to start. and how is the weather holding up. >> reporter: hi. the weather is okay. you see the sun is out now. we did have rain for a while. but even with rain, nothing dampens the spirits of sharks fans, especially the way they're supercharged by the first two games against the ducks. now the street fair is just getting organized now and it will be underway starting at 4:30: you could see how much the shark fever there is. people walking around in teal and banners over san pedro street a few blocks away from the shark tank. >> the sharks played a great game the first two and playing faster in the past whereas the ducks are big and sure they're aggressive, but the back-checking of the sharks is really negated a lot of things the ducks are trying to do. >> and strange as the weather has been today, isn't it great the sun is shining on the san jose shark sign?

that could be a good omen. >> the first two on the road winning is huge. can't ask for more than that. so back at home, home crowd, the tank turns up. so it should be good. >> reporter: we were surprised to find out this sharks fan is from edmonton, alberta who admitted his buddies back home, oilers fans, question his loyalty. >> there is patrick marlow for me and it hurt when he left. so that -- don't talk about him too much any more. >> reporter: he and his girlfriend will be in town for the next two games and there will be a street rally outside of the center. fans could buy beer for $6 with proceeds go to the shark foundation and a d.j., face painters and food trucks of course. for others, downtown watering holes such as this irish pub expects about 150 people to show up before the game. it is a big shot in the arm for business. >> if they don't have tickets for the game and want to come downtown and be part of the action, come to the pub and watch the game so it is great.

southeastern santa clara valley and a cell through gill ray and it produced dime size hail and heavy downpour and there was concern about localized flooding but it is pushing into the higher terrain. check out the view from sutro tower. over san francisco and partly cloudy and blue showing up. cloud shat oez over the city. it is 53 in san francisco. and in fact we have low to mid-60s at oakland and mountain view, san jose and gilroy and half moon bay. and here is another stunning view of the western sky from the east bay hills camera showing us clouds at various levels of the atmosphere and it is chilly up north. santa rosa is down to 49 degrees already. we have temperatures in the low to mid 50s in napa, novato and fairfield and livermore. from mt. tam, the trees are shaking in the wind but also the movement of the clouds rapidly through the sky as the wind is brisk you might say. these are the forecast features, partial clearing overnight and rain returns late wednesday into early thursday and after that we

got a string of sunny days an much warmer weather at the end of the week. here is our forecast animation at 5:00 this afternoon. now the evening commute is underway and there are some wet spots left over from rain earlier today but at 5:00 we don't expect to see very widespread rainfall. just pockets of rain. still it could slow down the evening commute. after 9:00 we'll start clearing out and get some partial clearing. the rainfall should be over and then tomorrow morning at 5:00 as the morning commute begins we'll see mainly sunny skies. drop into winter-like levels up in the -- north bay and upper 30s to low 40s and same thing down in the south bay area, from morgan hill up to san jose. but right around the bay we'll see low temperatures in the low to mid-40s. and low to mid-40s on the coast as well. highs tomorrow under sunny skies and breezy conditions. range from upper 50s at the coast to low 60s around the bay and only low to mid-60s in the mildest inland locations and then our next storm.

reporters. in court today after he and his attorneys were ordered to hand over a list of clients so the judge could determine what evidence federal investigators will be allowed to review. new tonight, it was revealed the one previous unnamed client of cohen was fox news host sean hannity. he issued a swift response. >> i never received an invoice from michael, i never paid legal fees to michael, but i have occasionally had brief discussions with him about legal questions about which i wanted his input and perspective and i assume that those conversations were attorney/client confidential. >> reporter: stormy daniels appeared and also in court as a spectator. >> my attorney and i are committed to making sure that everyone finds out the truth -- >> reporter: according to court documents, cohen has been under investigation for months with federal investigators looking

anyone who has ever used san francisco based task rabbit, heads up. the handyman for hire app is investigating a cybersecurity incident. they aren't saying how many people were affected or what information was lost. but users are being told to change the password and task rabbit has taken down its website and app. well from security to online privacy. that is a huge topic right now as you know. and joining me is greg sparrow, senior vice president with compliance point which makes sure that the tech industry complies with regulations and rules and tries to make sure they follow exactly the guidelines they're supposed to. and just last week facebook founder mark zuckerberg as we talked about was grilled by

congress. do you think anything will change as a result of that appearance in washington? >> yeah, i think a lot of that depends on the actual users of facebook and whether they stay focused on the issue at hand. i think what i'd like to think what has changed is the awareness and the fact that consumers are more aware about how companies are gathering this information, what they're using it for and how they monetize it. that is one of the big things missing. >> is this much more widespread than we believe it in terms of gathering of information on us. >> i think so. i think being in the industry, i think we're more aware of it but the general consumer probably is not. i think they at least -- based on the privacy policies, they just click next, next, next. they go through a lot of that and i think they're not really aware of the amount of information that is being collected. >> is it impossible to go through a single day without giving up some of your information that you don't -- >> i think if you have a cell phone on you at this point, it

is very difficult. >> really? that is scary. >> it is. >> let me ask you this. what should companies like facebook do to protect users' privacy. >> i think part of it and this is where when we come into organizations, it is really about trying to understand what the brand means and how they want to engage with the consumer. i think the organization really needs to be very thoughtful about how they do that. once we establish that, then it is really about basically making sure that they implement the appropriate controls, in the context of facebook with what we saw, i think the issue there was they had third parties with access to the data on the back end and really didn't have a lot of checks and balances in place to be able to monitor what was going on there. >> the silver lining is yes know this is going on. so that helps. greg, you work with companies looking to become kplients client -- and that is

great for the european union and what does that mean for us. >> for u.s. citizens, it zoont mean a whole lot. i don't think it applies to them unless they are in the european space and it means more to organizations right now -- organizations that have got to look at this regulation and look at whether it applies to them based on where they operate and the marketing to and if it does apply they have heavy lifting to do to be complaint with the regulation and there is a lot of teeth to it. so there is the -- the fines could be quite hefty, up to 25 million euros. >> so it is punitive. >> yes. or 4% of global revenue or greater so there is a risk for organizations not complaint. >> as we wrap up, is this online privacy issue going to get worse before it gets better? >> i think when you look at it internationally, you've got a lot of regulation and a movement towards consumerism. i think really what you have to look at is here in the u.s., what is going to happen and some
