the attention of the faa. they were talking about getting them inspected. now they are doing something. this is the second engine failure for southwest airlines in two years. the problems? similar in nature. they started an objective to inspect blades after the first failure, and now it's an initial order for airlines. travelers were disappointed to hear it took this long. >> horrible. i don't know much about planes and whatnot, but safety is important to every airline. >> reporter: it's not an easy inspection. aviation expert explained on "good morning america" what it takes to fine tiny cracks. >> they are behind the blades, so fine and thin, you can't see them. you have to get in with an ultrasound, the same technology you look at a baby in utero with. >> reporter: passengers feel some relief knowing the government is forcing inspections. >> well, that would be a good

thing, but it's still scary, especially, i mean, flights are always dealing and all sorts of things, and there's not full disclosure most of the time. >> reporter: passengers can't stop flying because of what happened, but tuesday's fatal flight was on their minds. >> i feel for the passengers that went through that tragedy. i've been on rocket flights before, and i know at any point in time, things with go >> reporter: this directive is expected to be ordered in a couple weeks, and american airlines already started inspecting engines just as soon as the faa started talking about a directive last summer. southwest airlines saying it is now doing inspections at an accelerated pace, and expects to be finished in a month. live at sfo, amy hollyfield. >> thank you. we learned this morning, southwest airlines sought more time last year to inspect fan

blades like what happened tuesday. the airline imposed a recommendation by the engine manufacturer to require ultrasonic inspections of certain blades within 12 months saying it needed more time to conduct the work. today, the texas fire tigfii who pulled in the passenger talked about the tragedy and was emotional about her death. >> she had two kids. a loving husband. a community around her. that loved her. so my heart is broken for them. and i just pray that they find comfort, they find healing. >> the firefighter says he's trained to deal with emergencies and was never in fear for his life. he also says passengers on the plane came together for one

another including performing cpr on jennifer who later died in the hospital after the plane landed. developing news here, mountain view police are looking for this missing girl, her name is diana, and the 11-year-old was last seen at 9:00 yesterday morning on bay street wearing a green sweatshirt with "pink" on it and had a black backpack. if you know where she is, call police. new developments in the ghost ship fire. a civil lawsuit, sky7 over the scene yesterday. abc 7 news's i-team reports they were going through the debris in the warehouse p the fire killed 36 people, and the two men charged in the fire are due in court tomorrow. tonight at 11:00, dan will have an exclusive interview with micah alison. she gives new details about what

happened that night, conditions inside the ghost ship warehouse, and what may have led to the tragedy. happening now, bart look for a police captured on cell phone video committing lewd acts on a pittsburgh bay point bound train. a rider shared this photo of the man telling us that he propositioned her and touched himself last friday. the victim called the police, but officers did not find him last seen leaving the train at the daly city bart station. richmond police issued an arrest warrant for this man wanted in the murder of mark johnson, jr. witnesses told police johnsonfuls shot and killed following an argument with another man on south 15th street and main avenue last thursday. it was their third homicide of the week. he's extremely dangerous, and if anyone spots him, please, call 911 right away.

authorities are evicting residents of a homeless encampment in santa rosa, but protesters say they have a right to stay. it's located behind the dollar store on store, and more than two dozen people called it home for two years. they set up a navigation center earlier this year to help campers with housing and other services. >> we do have a significant amount of shelter beds set aside for the program and working to get hotel vouchers as well to place people into a hotel while we wait for an appropriate option to become available, we'll do so. >> homeless advocates say the people have a peaceful community where they are just want to be left alone to live in peace. new this morning, the city is working to become a net 0 greenhouse emitter by the year 2050. the mayor said city officials are charting an ambitious course to sharply curtail the city's carbon emissions and boosting

cafe that are refusing to make a purchase or leave. >> reporter: that employee called the police. the men say only two minutes after they sat down. >> we was not read any rights, nothing, just double locked handcuffs behind our back and escorted out and put into a squad car. >> reporter: the ceo of starbucks apologized to both men in person and announced the company will be shutting down all 8,000 of its u.s. locations on the afternoon of may 29th to train all 175,000 employees in racial bias education geared towards preventing discrimination. >> it's my responsibility to ensure we review everything. >> reporter: they say their goal is to make sure what happened to them never happens to anyone else. >> understand it's not just a black people thing. this is a people thing. that's exactly what we want to see from this, and that's true change. >> reporter: the men's lawyer says at this time they are not suing starbucks or the city and working with starbucks to have a meaningful conversation.

the average is supposed to be 54, and we'll be near that tomorrow, but look at the low to mid-60s, yeah, there's no chance of snow when it's that warm. back here at home, this is what we're tracking, the warming trend, 2-13 degrees warmer than this time yesterday as the rebound begins, and sends us through spring into early summer by the weekend. temperatures, they are getting comfortable outside, especially with the sunshine out there and the lack of a breeze right now. we got temperatures mainly in the mid-50s to mid-60s. here's a look at walnut creek, all the clean air and sun. this is one of those areas this weekend, and into next week, that will be flirting with the 80 degrees. my accuweather highlights, sunglass sunglasses, you need them, sunny, breezy, mild afternoon, and fog is in the coast, the golden gate, and north bay, but not as cool as this morning, but chilly, and the extended, that summer spread coming. yesterday's storm, you see it's well down to the south and falling apart and bringing late

season rain for southern california. this is how it looked at 9:00 last night, the actual radar. looks a lot like the computer models we talked about yesterday, and sure enough, it followed that pattern we talked about, sliding south, hitting the big sur coast to the central coast much more than it hit us. in fact, i didn't see any rain at all. today, upper 50s, the coast, breezes kick up in the low 60s in san francisco, and 63 to 66 in the bay, and 66 to 70 inland. got a few clouds down in the south bay, otherwise a gorgeous daybreaking out, the 12-hour planner, temperatures 50s at the coast, and 60s inland, mid-60s at 4:00, and back down to the 50s, barely, by midnight, on the way down to the low to upper 40s. notice the white? that is some of the fog that's going to develop tonight. here's the accuweather seven-day forecast. we are close to average. tomorrow, away from the coast, we blow through it and warm above average, but look at saturday, sunday, and now monday

next forecast at 4:00. new this morning, a san mateo neighborhood on edge this morning following an apparent mountain lion sighting after 8:00 near fernwood street and 36th avenue. in an abundance of caution, they ordered a temporary shelter in place for the middle school and high school, both, as you can see, close to the area where the mountain lion was possibly sighted. officials stay this is an unconfirmed sighting, but they wanted to keep the community and parents informed. >> oh, my gosh, it's a bear! >> that's the sound of a terrified grandma in southern california. she spotted a bear in her yard yesterday, ran and grabbed her granddaughter, and screamed, and ran inside the house. as you can see the the bear ran off, probably scared of the grandmother too. >> yeah. >> they locked themselves safely inside. >> she didn't go and grab a camera and video it, but she did not have to. >> like so many would these
