quentin since 1993. as we all know it sits on a beautiful strip of land. but having been in the deg chamber it's a grim place, a place of steel and very nervous guards and people keeping an eye on you all the time. but he was just released within the last 10 minutes. his family members waiteding here for hours. he himself has been waiting for decades to be released. right now they're taking sort of a family photo. as you mentioned, the state supreme court overturned his conviction last month accused of raping and killing a 21-month-old baby that was his girlfriend's baby back in 1991. part of this case hung on testimony from doctors that she had been sexually assaulted. but it turns out that that evidence could not be supported. that's why the supreme court threw it out. and a judge today ordered his release. and let's see what the kern county district attorney that covered this case has to say about what happened. >> the supreme court basically

said that it was false evidence and the the theory of first degree murder was based on that false evidence there was no sexual assault whatsoever. >> now in california sexual assault is a special circumstance and you must have a special circumstance in order to get the death penalty. his case was handled by the habe habeas corpus center. they handle death row inmate cases. they put mouth a statement saying they are pleasewood the outcome and pleased that he is back with his family after spending years in prison for a crime he did not commit. now i talked to someone who was a lawyer with the habeas corpus legal resource center based in san francisco. and she said to me, a little while ago, this almost never happens in these cases. and she couldn't remember the last time it did. she was just pleased that they could get the outcome this time.

more trouble for wells fargo, the san francisco based bank is facing a $1.0 billion fine from the consumer financial protection bureau. the fine expected to be formally announced tomorrow is for a variety of problems including forcing skbhers to boy insurance they don't need. this comes as wells fargo extended the deadline to snit a claim to the class action settlement. the bank paying out shh 142 million to all the unthoeshzed accounts. the deadline submitting a claim for that is july the 7th. construction getting under way on the northbound 680 express lane. look at this map showing the first phase of the project spanning nine miles between routes 84 and 262. the northbound express lane stretches 14 miles between route 237. the sound express lane will be upgraded. developing news ou out of florida. two deputies gunned down killed at a restaurant. plus a first on the capital
