city hall. you see a lot of them are wearing orange because that is the color of the anti-gun movement. what the students are doing right now is they are calling out the names of victims of gun violence and holding a moment of silence for each of those victims. they are holding a moment of silence at this moment, and here's the moment they walked out of class. these bay area students joined tens of thousands of others across the country in the national day of action, and notre dame students left class at 10:00 a.m. marching and chaptering, holding signs, and i saw one that said thoughts and prayers don't save lives. another with the #neveragain. this is the second nationwide walkout since the shooting at douglas high school back on february 14th. students want to honor lives lost and send a message to

politicians that change needs to begin now. >> we are walking to amplify voices of those affected, here to stand up and see the change we want to see in the world. if we don't take a stand, who else is? >> reporter: today's protest marks the 19th anniversary of the columbine school shooting on april 20th, 1999. one of the supporters here in san jose today is the mayor lacardo who spoke to the crowd moments ago saying this generation is different than the nra had a stronghold on politicians for too long. reporting live in san jose, abc 7 news. >> thank you. new this morning, the chp is investigating a deadly crash on highway 242 in concord. sky7 was over the scene near grant street. a motorcycle ended up under the suv. the driver died at the scene. two left lanes were closed until the scene was cleared, and the

driver of the suv was not hurt. authorities are trying to put together the sequence of events. a car caught fire on the bridge snarling the commute. this is on the toll plaza of 92. two lanes were closed as the fire was put out and the car was towed. we are awaiting word on the condition of the driver and why the car burst into flames. a big change for the afternoon commute in the north bay. cal trans is openin the new eastbound lane on the richmond bridge. it was closed for decades, but it opens 2:00 p.m. weekdays to relieve congestion. this follows the $53 million project to upgrade the bridge. an elementary schoolteacher is under arrest. he tried to arrange a meeting with an undercover officer posing as a teenage girl. they arrested the 36-year-old at his home, a 4th grade teacher at glen cove elementary. police say he talked oven line

with the undercover officer who was acting as a girl under 16. charges are expected to be filed today. county prosecutors are asking anyone who might be a victim to contact them. now take a look at the pictures from the police department hoping someone recognizes this guy. officers say he exposed himself at the community library near the international language area last friday afternoon just after 4:00 p.m. police described him as a man in his 40s, 170 pounds, 5'10", and balding, and wearing glasses. call the police if you have any information. today is april 20th, known as 4/20 or weed day. in san francisco, tens of thousands are expected to flock to the park to celebrate the use of cannabis. the tradition dates back fourth years, but this is the first year that recreational marijuana use is legal. abc 7 news reporter amy hollyfield is live in the park. amy? >> reporter: hi, kristen, the

party is well underway. you can smell it, but i'll show it to you because you can't smell it on tv. we are hoping to not get a a contact high on this assignment. hippie hill filling upment people are here early to claim key real estate and expect a larger crowd this year and adapted with more food, security, and bathrooms here this year. this is what the crowd looked like at the gates waiting to get in, restless, and got here at 8:00 this morning, hoping the gates opened at 9:00, about a half hour late because they were still checking security around the fenced in area. that's why you heard chanting. organizers have 60 security officers here this year. they had 40 last year. they tripled the amount of food. rather than six vendors, there's now 20. recreational pot is now legal, and some who say they've been here before, but this year, already feels different. >> seems like there's a lot of younger people here this year.

>> we traveled 150 miles to be part of the event. it's the first legalization of marijuana, and the first event of the century, so we thought we'd be part of that because we're totally too young for woodstock so we'd have a bucket list. >> reporter: here's a look at last year's crowd. you can see hippie hill is full. a lot of smoke in the air, but this year's expected to be bigger. here's a look at sky7, what it looks like now. it's early. it's filling up. it's friday. that's one reason why they expect a larger crowd, and, also, of course, recreational pot is now legal for the first time, so some of the attendees want to make history. organizers have more bathrooms this year. they even stationed some on hate street, so that's an indication they expect the crowd to spill out over this, and to be in and out on this beautiful friday. now, the city says it neither condones or sanctions this event, but the city is working with a private sponsor to pay

democratic party is suing russia, trump campaign, and wikileaks claiming they disru disrupted the 2016 presidential campaign. this alleges top trump campaign officials conspired with the russian government to hurt hillary clinton's campaign. the lawsuit claims the conspiracy included hacking the democratic party computer networks. the democratic party seeks millions in retribution and acknowledgement of the plot. developing news from washington, president trump got angry at former national security adviser michael flynn over a delayed return phone call to russian president putin. the associated press is reporting putin is the name that was blacked out from copies of memos written by former fbi director james comey. the memos were released last night. according to comey, the president complained flynn had judgment issues over failing to promptly alert him to putin's call after inauguration. passengers who were on board that southwest jet that exploded

over pennsylvania on tuesday are receiving apology letters and money. passengers received a $5,000 check and $1,000 voucher from the airline. in the letter, southwest asked to accept their sincerist apologies and said the primary focus and commitment is to help passengers in every way possible. wells fargo was fined a billion dollars for insurance and mortgage abuses. two federal regulators today fined the san francisco based bank $500 million a piece for charging mortgage borrowers unfair fees. it's the latest in a series of issues for wells fargo. in 2016, they were fined $100 million for opening three and a half million credit card accounts without authorization. plenty to do this weekend and sun to go with. we'll cover it all from saving the planet to drinking beer. all the details after the break.

more warming today, that's the first highlight. warmest afternoons are saturday, sunday, and monday and dry season is taking control. looking at the medium range models for 16 days, about no chance of rain. typical, right? 70 in concord, fairfield at 69. we got clear lake and san jose at 67, and 58 in oakland. yeah, cool spot. a lot because of the haze. 54 at half moon bay because of the fog there. in fact, here's a look at the high pressure that's bringing us the warmer weather, the jet stream is to the north, but up along the coast, you see a little bit of fog right there, and that's going to be more of a dominant feature into the weekend and why, again, they are not warming like the rest of us. mid-70s in the south bay, san jose at 74, and head up the peninsula, we are narrow from mountain view all the way up to san mateo. you see the cloud cover and
