first 911 calls. it was just before 1:30 p.m., lunch time in one of toronto's busiest areas when a white van was used as a murder weapon. >> it was clear as day, just ordinary walking and saw a guy get hit by a van. >> that van making it 16 blocks, mowing down pedestrians for a mile and a half. >> everybody, all these people on the streets getting hit one by one. >> witnesses left with horrifying images, painting the grim scene. victims and their belongings bloodied and scattered in the streets. by the time the damage was done, 10 dead, dozens hurt. >> there was one lady in total distress. we saw the team do to work on her pumping away, and they lost her. >> police arrested 25-year-old suspect but still working to find a motive. authorities in toronto aren't

pari b.a.r.t. is responding. they are trolling trains looking for addicts and offering them treatment. a dangerous problem in city streets, discarded syringes. the city is hiring 10 new workers who will conduct sweeps across the city collecting needles left behind by drug users. the mayor says neighbors and business owners can report needles calling 311. the needles and syringes have become a health epidemic in the city. former president george h.w. bush remains in intensive care fighting an infection in his bloodstream, he was admit add day after the funeral of his late wife. he's responding to treatment and appears to be recovering. the former president is 93 years old. activists are vowing to force the government to answer for treatment to filipino peace advocate at sfo.

orange glow at the top of this building here on clayton road at dplindo. firefighters are battling it from the outside. they have a couple of ladder trucks here. they are dumping water on any flame they can see on this building. obviously a big, big firefight going on in concord. video from this morning, first call at 12:55, the building under construction as tall as four stories in some spots. this went to three alarms with 70 firefighters fighting the flames. they are in defensive mode fighting flames by surrounding the building and putting water on it. the people living across the street in the renaissance papt were told to leave the building and walk to the plaza. we're told some of them are being allowed back into the area. the red cross is also here on the scene. they are going to be helping out with those evacuees. we'll keep you updated all
