good morning bay area. let's get up and get going. >> it's saturday, april 28th. good morning. thanks so much for joining us. i'm chris nguyen. lisa argen is tracking the conditions where you are. >> good morning. we have been tracking a few light spotty showers here around hayward, towards half moon bay and the higher elevations. as we widen the perspective, live doppler 7 picking up on a system to the north of us. it's keeping us cool, rather cloudy and keeping the chance of isolated showers in the story today. san francisco 54, 55 in san jose and on the coast, the cloud cover keeping us mild throughout the overnight hours.

throughout the day today on the peninsula, that sea breeze will pick up. 49 in santa rosa, 56 in concord, 52 in livermore. through the next couple of hours you'll notice the cloud will try to thin out by 11:00, we're still in the 50s and by 4:00 in the afternoon it's a cool afternoon with numbers just in the low 60s in our warmest locations. so plan on a cool weekend and we'll talk about when we warm up in a few minutes. chris. >> lisa, thanks. now to developing news. chaos at a carnival in morgan hill. eight juveniles are in this morning. they say the crowd of more than 200 juveniles became hostile. seven police officers were assaulted but not seriously hurt. the eight teen-agers are between the ages of 13 and 17. police issued a dispersal warning, threatening to arrest

anyone of any age who stayed in the area. they told parents to get their kids home immediately. the carnival has been cancelled for its remaining two days. sky 7 captured the scene yesterday afternoon after a chp officer was dragged for hundreds of feet after the person he pulled over drove off. katie utehs saw the whole thing. >> a san francisco officer survived a stunt usually own seen in the movies. >> holding on with a struggle. >> reporter: it started as a routine traffic stop, until it wasn't. >> i could not believe what i saw. it was the driver's door open and in the wind with the chp officer hanging out of the car. >> reporter: a woman driver tried to speed away on interstate 80 headed towards the bay bridge, but rush hour traffic meant she had nowhere to go. >> this is where the suspect's vehicle finally came to a stop.

right now chp officers are trying to start it and drive it away so they could reopen the lanes to traffic. >> reporter: the red jeep hit at least two other vehicles traveling around 1,000 feet with the officer clinging to the wheel before hitting the cement barricade. then with truly hollywood swagger -- >> he was able to jump back up and do what he needed to take this driver into custody. >> reporter: the officer suffered some road rash, was checked out at the hospital and released. >> i think he was working off some serious adrenaline. >> reporter: the officers arrested two passengers. the driver could face reckless driving, assault with a deadly weapon. >> an accused serial killer appeared in court for the first time. this is the suspected golden state killer, connected to a dozen murders and more than 50 rapes. he's in custody thanks to a controversial tactic that broke the case wide open.

dan ashley has the story. >> reporter: rolled, in handcuffed to a wheelchair, joseph deangelo sat seemingly in a daze as the judge listed the charges against him. >> two counts of murder and a special circumstance. >> this for the killing of a couple in 1978. deangelo could see many more courtrooms now that they've connected him to dozens of murders and rapes. deangelone' public defender said he's being unfairly judged. >> i'm going to kill you, i'm going to kill you. >> the victims feel some measure of relief now that he's been caught. >> while i was calling the police, he jumped through the window, mostly naked and had a

thing over his face. for now he's on suicide watch in a psych ward, reportedly mumbling to himself. >> you don't know how to react except to be -- all these emotions are just too much. >> investigators tracked him down using dna from a ventura county crime scene and connected it to his family members on a genealogy web site. >> that tactic was instrumental in finding deangelo, but it's also being questioned because of concerns over privacy and accuracy. in 2017 dna evidence collected by investigators led to the wrong man. dion lim has more. >> in information on friday shows a 70-year-old man. his daughter said authorities never notified her before swabbing her father for dna in

back in jail after a brief escape. it happened just after 8:00 last night. the sheriff's office said the inmate scaled a tall fence topped with razor wire and jumped a wooden fence. deputies found him wet and bloodied in a creek about 40 minutes after his escape. he was treated and booked at a more secure facility. he was self-ing his second drvif a four-day sentence. >> it's been three days since a woman killed her children. megan pleaded no contest to suffocating her daughters back in 1998. she was sentenced to 25 years to life in prison. earlier this month a panel found her suitable for parole but her family says she's dealt drugs in prison and has never expressed remorse. >> she can still have children, so that's one of my biggest fears. even if she doesn't have children, if she dates someone

with children -- because she's not remorseful or identified a reason as to why she committed the crimes, what's to stop her from committing these crimes again. >> the family has written letters to governor brown urging him to reverse the decision. >> approximately 250 residents returned home yesterday, four days after a massive fire in concord forced them to evacuate. the fire broke out at this construction site next to the renaissance apartment complex early tuesday morning. flames and smoke caused about $55 in damage. atf investigators are still trying to determine in arson is to blame. >> firefighters saved several dogs and a snake from a fire in san jose yesterday. first responders performing cpr on a pug, reviving it in a driveway. another dog received cpr but did not survived. the fire severely damaged the

home, displayicing two people. >> on thursday we told you about chronology owner mark stone. he admitted to yelling the "n" w word to a group of kids at a shop on sunday and later apologized. yesterday the women who witnessed it gathered to discuss the issue and racism. >> i felt like we were heard. the mayor and thefriendly. >> we're going to stand up and advocate for our kids in our community. >> stone did not return our request for comment. >> tonight former secretary of state madeleine albright will speak at dominican university in san raphael. last night a sold out crowd welcomed her with a standing ovation. albright was the first woman to hold that u.s. office during the clinton administration. she served from 1997 to 2001.

she says she's glad diplomatic talks have begun between north and south korea but is nervous when it comes to talks with the united states. >> what i'm troubled by is that the state department has been gutted. if you're going to do diplomacy, you need diplomats. so the question is even if president trump does have a meeting, it will be the beginning and an awful lot of work. >> albright said she is worried but hopes the deep problems of north korea being a nuclear power can be resolved. time now is 8:10 on this saturday morning. meteorologist lisa argen is tracking the forecast for us. some roads are a little slick. >> that's true. we have some fog, visible is reduced and some sun out there. walnut creek, temperatures are mild. upper 40s north bay, mid 50s half moon bay. the afternoon temperatures will be cooler than average. there are a few spotty showers.

as pastor, he chose a member of the congregation, a construction worker with no experience who has now decided to sell the church. the pastor is disappointed. >> extremely disappointed. i think it's wrong to try to sell something that doesn't belong to you. >> remington meck said he'll take the proceeds to arizona and start a new church but when this goes through, i fully expect a visit from the fbi because everyone is so upset about this. i went to his home and spoke to a woman identifying himself as meck's daughter. >> you can get ahold of remington and talk to him but everything is legal. >> reporter: i reached him on a cell phone minutes later. what plans do you have for the money? he hung up.

>> we were shocked and surprised. how do you sell a church? >> reporter: they took me through the church where they met and married. >> we're really heart broken for this decision. >> i understand he may have his own vision but i don't understand why is he taking the fund from this building, which really belongs to this community. >> reporter: do you doubt his intentions? >> i would like to trust but i don't. >> reporter: and i've heard from other congregation members who were expected to tith or give 10% of their salary to the church. they don't expect to get any of their money back but they tell me if he does not use that $1.3 million properly, he'll have to face the wrath of god. he could also face questions from investigators, says irs agent zedillo. he tells me he would look at how

meck got people to vote for the sale. >> was there some sort of remuneration to get their vote. >> reporter: i went back on sunday. remington meck warned me to the to step on church property again. and he said just three votes were needed for the sale. it's you who actually did this, the pastor, his wife and you? you can see their signatures on this real estate resolution. he said meck offered him $50,000 and the pastor basically said it would be a gift when the church sold. after he voted for the sale, he told me meck found it was illegal to give anybody money with the sale of the church. with the controversy building,

he has withdrawn his support for the sale of the church. i finally met remington meck from face to face. >> i need to talk to you what you're going to do with the money. >> it's following corporate law. >> reporter: how about church law, how about what's right? so many people want an explanation of the plan, including the pastor who put him in a position of power. >> that's how i lived my life before god and man. he's going to have some things to answer for at the judgment seat. >> officials have offered to bring a new pastor but the sale is listed at pending and the buyer appearso be another church. i'll keep track of what meck does with the money once he gets to arizona, if it reaches that point. >> hi, everyone. we see just a little bit of

running well below april standards. the last weekend of april giving us a few light april showers if we're lucky. the clouds do continue to decrease but the atmosphere is still unstable. sonoma could see a slight shower. as we go into your sunday, we've got the clouds again. a little bit of green showing up on the map here. rainfall amounts actually do show up between today and tomorrow from a couple .001 or perhaps .01 or or or or or livermore throughout the day today cool. it should be 62. numbers will continue to trend in that cooler-than-average direction from the east end of the bay, the south end of the bay with temperatures in

jose at 68. it's not until the middle of the week that the numbers will surpass where they should be. partly cloudy sky today, isolated shower, breezy winds along the coast in the low 60s, mid 60s in palo alto, 66 in concord with 68 in san jose. if you're headed into the city for that doubleheader, we're starting out with some sun and temperatures remaining on the cool side, west, northwest w now allowing for breezy conditions today. you download our accuweather app and there's clouds around. still cool tomorrow. by monday it will be breezy. we begin that warming trend really on tuesday. then by wednesday it's looking even milder, getting kind of warm by the end of the week inland. >> for now don't put those jackets away just yet. >> that's right.

two decades. it starts this weekend and goes through next sunday. it's one of the country's largest and most exclusive dances. a huge group with dance simultaneously to audio tracks on their head phone. should be a pretty cool sight to see. we have a link on our web site to learn the dance moves. check out the oakland dance festival this saturday from noon to 8 p.m. last year they had over 9,000 people. the organizer tells me she's been overwhelmed by the response. she's a dance teacher that started the event to just get peletogether. >> march more dimes' march for babies is this weekend. the start and finishly will be at the great meadow at fort mason. the walk is in its 47th year in

below average. there's some sun out there in san francisco. highs today will be about two to three degrees below average. we will be looking at that trend to continue for the next couple of days. here's a look at concord where highs today will be in the mid 60s looking at upper 60s by tomorrow. the weekend's cool but we begin to recover by the middle of the week. that means for sunshine. temperatures going a bit above average. friday looks to be the warmest day of the week. the flag right now not blowing. we will get those westerly winds throughout the day today. keeping it cool around the bay. north and south end of the bay have been near average. this system, which continues to show that counterclockwise circulation is a cold front -- in the area of low pressure that's pushing to the north and east of us. that's allowing for us to see maybe a sprinkle, some clouds and temperatures, not where they should be for this time of year.
