welcome to tuesday may 1st. glad you're there. >> never more than seven minutes away from accuweather forecast and things warming up. >> amazing when the calendar flips over mother nature says, pwarmth outside.ing a little hi, everybody. still breezy in some spots, 13 miles an hour wind at fairfield blowing towards the mountain. still have a little bit of a sea breeze. we're not going to get out of hand with the warmth, just back to average in most neighborhoods. here is how my accuweather day planner breaks down. mid-40s to 50. about the same as yesterday. mid to upper 50s along the coast. a touch warmer but breezy. mid-60s, 65 for bay and inland neighborhoods. low- to mid-70s at 4:00, back to mid-60s at 7:00. we'll see if it's that quiet. we know it's not. there's got to be some issues on the road. alexis is here to tell us about them. >> head to richmond side of richmond side of san rafael

bridge. a crash in fast lane right now. looks like they are working to clear that. i'm seeing one of those vehicles involved that did clear off to the side. looks like that truck is slowly exiting as well. a little concerned. looks like one person out walking in front of that vehicle. we don't have chp yet running a traffic break. i will keep an eyoon that. but minor delays as you approach that scene from toll plaza area. hate to see those people running out in traffic. quick check of traffic tracy stretch 580 past 205 crash on the shoulder. you are very heavy. we'll take a look at some of those backups coming up in a few minutes. >> thanks, alexis. looking like voters will have final say in the fight to roll back california's gas tax. >> tax opponents say they have enough signatures on initiative putting the issue on our november pallet. abc news re live in concord. hi, amy. >> reporter: hi we're at a gas station talking to drivers who have long commutes. we are finding some sort for this gas tax.

here is a look at the opponents. a group of activists in southern california who say they have enough signatures against the gas tax to get it onto the november ballot. legislators passed this tax without voter input. it went spoke effect in november. it adds $0.12 to every gallon of gas you buy. lawmakers say it will pay for transportation projects around the state. one driver we met said it could be more expensive to not pay this tax. >> roads, bridges need to be constantly fixed. there's a bunch of things happening on the road. there's potholes and things i feel need to be taken care of. it's either that or you blow an axle or something on your car on the way to work. that's what i think. >> you would vote for it. >> if i had to, yeah, i would vote for it. $0.12 a gallon, that's not much. >> add on top of this tax gas prices on the rise. some analysts predict it could be the most expensive summer for

driving in four years. that could help in the fight against this tax. expect a fight from lawmakers and transportation officials who say the money from the tax is already dedicated to thousands of projects across the state. reporting live in concord amy hollyfield abc 7 news. >> thank you, amy. we have new details on a crash involving chp cruiser in fairfield. the highway patrol said three people inside a white mitsubishi mirage have major injuries after it rear-ended chp vehicle on the shoulder of i-80 yesterday afternoon. the officer inside the car suffered minor injuries. they cut the roof off the mirage. >> take a look. apparently that pet bunny was also in the mitsubishi. officers found it curled under the seat. they say it's okay, now being returned to the owner. >> contra costa board of supervisors will hear an update on california's toxic soil from st. francis dumped into a landfill in pittsburgh.

>> radioactive material from hunters point shipyard deposited at keller canyon landfill. epa found petra tech, the contractor hired to dispose of the soil falsified the soil tests. they have agreed to pay for retesting. happening today demonstrations scheduled throughout the bay area in honor of international workers day. mayday gatherings expected to begin this morning and continue throughout the day. in the east bay international longshore and warehouse union will rally at the port of oakland at 10:00 a.m. there will also be a march at .plaza. san francisco noon rallies planned on the steps of city hall. organizers say they will be protesting privatization of san francisco neighborhood community clinics and other workers issues. there will a mayday rally in support of fernando corio. this is the emotional reunion with his family last month when a san francisco immigration judge overturned his scheduled

deportation. the judge ruled it would not be safe for him to go back to it mexico. he was detained six months after i.c.e. agents arrested him as he dropped his daughter off at daycare. processing begun for eight people part of the caravan parked outside border access in california. four mothers, two children's and 18-year-old taken in yesterday in san ysidro. they have stationed themselves outside the border trying to gain legal entry. a man from oakland borders association described the family seeking asylum in the u.s. >> one of her children was unfortunately threatened by gang members. they were given a certain amount of time to do. what they decided to do was stay and set up camp outside port of entry. >> the department of justice filed criminal charges against 11 people from the caravan accusing them of entering the u.s. illegally. now to an abc news exclusive. we're hearing from actor

judd after her and her lawyers filed a lawsuit against disgraced producer harvey weinstein. pit a little he blocked her from getting major movie roles as a result of turning down his advances. he told the director of "lord of the rings" she was a nightmare to work with. she said the comment cost her a role in the blockbuster franchised. >> i was being maligned and defamed because i stood up for myself. i said, no, you may not give me a massage. no, i will not watch you take a shower. i felt very sad for the self that i was. i knew something was wrong and i didn't know what it was. now we know what was being said that led to radio silence. >> judd said she would donate monetary damages from the lawsuit to times up legal defense fund. weinstein repeatedly he denies any allegations of nonconsensual sex. the next drink may not come with a straw.

it's about ten minutes after 6:00 on tuesday. start in south bay with temperatures a little cooler than yesterday. look at this, 42 in santa clara to warm spot san jose and 49 degrees. elsewhere 50s. newark 51, alameda 53 p half moon bay 50. look at that, 45 novato and napa. if you're going to be out and about, grab glasses. it's not as cool as it has been. you may notice if you're exercising it's breezy south of the bay bridge if you're going to be out on the water. north bay 49 at 8:00. 69 at noon. look at these mid-70s from 1:00 to 6:00. 63 at 8:00. we'll head back to the south bay where we'll start 53 at 8:00, 65 at noon. hang out in the low 70s for the

new developments involving closure of highway 101 and big sur. >> maybe not what we want to hear. it's going to take longer and be more expensive. caltrans bumped back opening target date from late summer into mid september. they are reconnecting section of the roadway buried after a massive landslide at the creek last may. according to the herald went from $34 to $50 million. a second autonomous car company applied for permit to test totally driverless cars. the dmv offered permits last month. one applied april 12th. a second company on paper 23rd. we don't know the names of the company sips the application process is not complete. as congress launches an investigation into epa chief scott pruitt a whistle ploer said pruitt lied to lawmakers.

yet. we are in contact with oakland police as soon as we get any update i'll pass that along from our live desk. back to you, reggie. new developments on the golden state killer case. they are looking into whether a breakup launched him into his murderous rage. he repeated the name bonnie during an attack over and over, saying i hate you, bonnie. it turns out joseph deangelo was once engaged to bonnie. cold case investigators believes deangelo had a grudge against her. >> we run across a newspaper ner article of an engagement to a bonnie in 19 0. now we have a guy with a bonnie in his life. something happened in that relationship that caused them to part. >> bonnie has now been identified at bonnie ueltzen.

a source close to abc news. she's speaking with prosecutors. uber says it is committed to do more to strengthen passenger safety following sexual assault claims against its driver. 103 accused of sexual assault or abuse in the last four years. each of the drivers arrested or wanted by police or named in civil lawsuits. in a statement uber said, quote, these stories are horrific and our hearts do out to the victims. we worked with cnn to understand their findings and determined that uber did 2.4 billion trips in the u.s. in that same period. >> this morning we're learning what special counsel robert murls wants to ask president trump. >> "new york times" obtained the list with four dispen questions ranging from james koemds to the president's tweets. they developed them after meeting with special investigator's office. >> i met and they went through subject after subject after subject they wanted to ask about. what the president's lawyers did

they are set to move to vegas in 2020. they will play in oakland this upcoming season. their home for 2019 season remains unclear. happening today san francisco transportation officials will consider implementing a pilot program for the controversial scooter industry. the two-year program would allow up to five permits to be issued. each permit would authorize 500 scooters. riders would still be able to park or leave the scooters unattended on the sidewalk as long as they don't obstruct the public's right-of-way. the permit application would cost $5,000. companies would also have to pay a $25,000 annual permit fee. the board meets at 1:00 this afternoon. >> you're never more than seven minutes away from my accuweather forecast. start with the peninsula, partly cloudy skies and quite a range of temperatures from menlo at 43, redwood city 44, san mateo 47, daly city 47, half moon bay and belmont at 50. san carlos 48. we've got upper 40s and low 50s

little more gummed up maybe. >> yes. in fact quite a mess in walnut creek. take a look at traffic camera, a sig alert due to bags of cement flying off a truck. four or five of them, a lot of cars hit that. they have that contained to the far right lane now. it is blocking one of the center lanes. now waiting for caltrans to come out with a street sweeper, though. there you go, flashing lights, southbound 680 at treat boulevard, some very heavy traffic behind that. take a look at that on traffic maps as well and talk about alternates. starting to spill over to 242, no surprise. that is always what happens to the stretch if we have anything blocking one lane. that's not a good area. taylor boulevard to pleasanton hill road if you want to use that for an alternate that will probably save you five or six minutes. not a lot of great options but i am keeping a close eye on that. hopefully get that totally cleared. richmond-san rafael bridge

good morning, amy. >> hi, good morning. yes, we've heard some drivers say we need to pay for road improvements. ots say enough is enough. opponents say and there are many of them, opponents in southern california who have organized an initiative to get this put on the ballot. they have turned over signatures. they say they have enough from people who want voters to have a say on this gas tax. legislators passed it. it went into effect in november. it adds $0.12 to every gallon of gas you buy. here is a sample of what drivers passing through concord have to say this morning. >> new bridges and new records. got to do what we've got to do. potholes and everything else. pretty messed up. >> you think you'd vote for it. >> probably. >> i'm definitely against it. i'm not trying to pay no high gas prices. already high enough. i commute to the city.
