yesterday, maybe a little cooler, where the cloud cover is having a hard time establishing itself. upper 40s to low 50s. look at that, 66 around the bay to 72 inland by noon. 72 around the bay. very comfortable. a little less comft. inn land at 4:00 at 80. a delightful evening on the way. probably don't need a jacket. 65 around the bay to 73 inland. we'll take a look at the weekend forecast coming up. here is alexis with a look at your commute. >> i want to head back to discovery bay. that has been our only trouble spot so far this morning. we have a crash on westbound highway 4 at discovery bay boulevard. it involves a semi, two smaller vehicles. one of those smaller vehicles flipped over. we have injuries involved, too. a large emergency response to the scene. looks like they may be doing one-way traffic control. both of those westbound lanes are blocked. working on getting as much info as i can. right nou it looks like you are able to get through. they're just alternating the sides of traffic able to pass

the crash. a bit of a delay, the backup not huge yet. bay bridge toll plaza looking good. the owners of the san jose sharks are suing b.a.r.t. >> they're trying to delay its extension into downtown san jose and santa clara. matt keller is tracking the story at the millbrae station. matt? >> reporter: good morning, reggie and natasha. the sharks are out of town taking on golden knights in game five in las vegas. but we found out that the sharks have a couple other opponents, vta and b.a.r.t. they're taking on those opponents inside a courtroom. that battle is going to take place there. b.a.r.t. just recently announced the approval of the extension into downtown san jose. now the owners of the san jose sharks are suing b.a.r.t. and the santa clara valley transportation authority, alleging they haven't planned properly for parking.

the mercury news says the owners support b.a.r.t. coming to san jose but want more details on construction impacts and parking issues. vta declined comment to the mercury news saying they hadn't had time yet to review the lawsuit. live in millbrae, matt keller, abc 7 news. cheating on soil samples during the cleanup of the hunters point naval shipyard. >> the two employed by tetra tech to take samples and send them to a lab to see if they were radioactive. instead of doing that, they substituted clean dirt taken from other areas at the naval base. tetra tech says it will pursue all legal action to undo the harm. north bay residents are still dealing with the aftermath of the devastating fires. now another problem. abc 7 news reporter lisa lisa la

hasn't made a decision about charging those officers. yesterday his family delivered a letter to george gas cone asking for an explanation. they say when they met with him in february, he said he would make a decision within six to eight weeks. the families they have not heard back. milpitas police arrested a dance instructor in connection with sexual assault of five girls. raymond chen is a creative dance teacher. a 16-year-old girl told police chan sexually assaulted her at the center when she was 10. an investigation turned up four more victims according to police. a student has minor injuries after a suspected drunk driver hit a gilroy school bus yesterday afternoon. most of the damage is to the front of the bus. the gilroy unified school district says all 46 students on board are fine. the driver who struck the bus was arrest ed.

at 5:14 this morning, a sneak peek of what's coming up in my microclimate forecast. temperatures average along the coast in san francisco to above average as we get near 80 in our inland east bay neighborhoods. we'll look at the microclimates and see if this lingers through the weekend coming up. california voters head to the ballot boxes in november. >> three national paint companies including sherwin williams are trying to overturn a court order forcing them to pay $700 million to clean up and remove lead paint from homes. they say it would red tag millions of homes and make homeowners potentially liable for cleanup. >> this is a court of appeal

finding that three major companies knowingly put poison in the homes of californians and knew that they were risking permanent damage to untold numbers of children. >> the paint companies started submitting signatures to get rid of the court order. instead, a $2 billion tax funded bond would pay for the cleanup. at&t and time warner want a judge to allow their $85 billion merger to go through without any conditions whatsoever. the companies made a request in a brief filed at the end of the trial brought by the department of justice. the doj thinks the merger would harm consumers and drive up prices. we spend so much time on our iphones, one of the biggest concerns is to keep them

one photo shows the damage inflicted to the front edge of the left wing. according to investigators, the pilots struggled to handle the plane after an engine blew apart at 32,000 feet. engine fragments broke a window. investigators say other blades in the engine were nicked, but showed no signs of cracking. a woman was killed during the incident. in today's gma "first look," a nebraska family is looking for answers after their son ended up in the hospital following a prom night hypnosis session. >> here is abc's lindsey davis. >> reporter: take a look at this post prom video. a nebraska high school supposed to ensure students stayed safe. watch as 17-year-old jaylin cox falls to the ground prompting gasps in the audience. his parents fear he hit his head. his mom describes alarming behavior when his date brought him back home. >> going in and out of consciousness. >> reporter: they immediately

took him to the hospital. jaylin's mom says her son volunteered for the hypnosis. jaylin says he has no memory of what happened. while the bellevue school district says it was hosted by the school, but put on by volunteer parents. jaylin's parents want to know why their son was allowed to be hypnotized without their consent. coming up at 7:00 a.m., we'll take a look at the possible dangers of hypnosis on children. i'm lindsey davis, nbc news, new york. a bear broke into a home in north lake tahoe and of course went straight for the food. the residents called police who eventually chased the bear out of the house. police are using this as a reminder to let you know, if you're heading to tahoe, make sure you lock up the food inside and outside your home. >> he's awfully cute. >> very cute, but i think he can do some damage. >> the black bear diner is a couple of buildings down. >> they have nice pancakes.

low to mid 80s in morgan hill and gilroy. san jose at 78 degrees. 67 in millbrae and low to mid 70s for the rest of the peninsula. we'll be flirting with 60 along the coast today to mid 60s downtown, south san francisco and sausalito. that's exactly where we should be for this time of year. mid to upper 70s, very comfortable for the north bay valleys. upper 60s to low 70s along the east bayshore taking you to union city and fremont. my accuweather seven-day forecast, this pattern is speaking, and then two days of cooling and then temperatures speaking and two days of cooling and temperatures speaking. it continues. that's interesting. here is alexis. >> definitely a pattern emerging, mike. unfortunately we have this crash on discovery bay on westbound highway 4 that has both left lanes blocked at discovery bay

boulevard. two smaller vehicles and then a semi involved in this crash and one of those smaller vehicles flipped over. we have injuries as well. still waiting for a tow truck to arrive at the scene. looking at about a 30-minute desleigh. unfortunately no great alternates around this stretch. if you can take i-5 either north or south out of stockton, that's probably going to be your best bet. that's a long reroute for you. westbound 205 to 580, looking okay out of the tracy area, 13 miles an hour and 16 miles an how respectively. friday light volumes. a man in san francisco whose criminal case will be released from custody. 64-year-old kenneth humphrey is accused of stealing $5.00 and a bottle of cologne from a number. humphrey spent a year in jail because he can't afford to post his $350,000 bail.

undercover federal investigation. happened on the south side of chicago. atf was working with chicago police as well. they are looking for a suspect or suspects. no other agents or officers were hurt. we do hope to get some better information throughout the day as this continues. the federal government is taking the lead role in this. back to you. >> jessica, thank you. >> it's 5:32. this morning people in mill valley trying to figure out a motive for a shooting that killed one person and left the 80-year-old gunman dead. >> the shooting caused chaos as people ran from the gunfire. abc news reporter amy hollyfield live in mill valley. amy. >> reporter: good morning, reggie. the apartment complex is quiet this morning. police have left the scene. take a look at what it looked like yesterday. the call came in just before 3:30 to come to e o oh that there was an active shooter in mill valley. police issued a shelter in place order for the neighborhood around this complex at blythedale avenue and tower drive in mill valley.

they discovered a man and woman who had been shot. that helped get the victims to a waiting ambulance. one woman described the relationship between those involved. >> i didn't see anything and i heard the shots. i know they shot our landlord and killed his daughter. i don't know if he's okay yet. she was the sweetest girl, like in her 20s. >> reporter: look at this dramatic moment captured from sky 7, the s.w.a.t. team storming into the apartment where the shooter barricaded himself. they found that he had died of a gunshot wound. residents describe him as a man in his 80s. the woman who was shot was also killed and the man who was shot is in intensive care. live in mill valley, amy hollyfield, abc 7 news. back here at the live desk, want to tell you quickly something else i'm really

keeping my eye on this morning, the situation in hawaii. right now more than 1,800 people evacuated on the big island following the eruption of the kilauea volcano. that number new from last hour. it was higher than we first reported. i want to show you this. it's incredible video that we have. lava bubbling up from a crack in the street, the magna spreading all across the island. the national guard has been activated. fema also is mobilizing resources right now. so far no injuries reported. the eruption happened six hours after a magnitude five quake shook the island. a sunken sailboat in pacifica is a hazard to surfers. the owners say they don't have the money to remove it. the boat ran aground last weekend at linda mar beach. the four-person crew is now stuck. they're in a hotel room living

on donations. they say sea conditions just overwhelmed them. >> it wasn't really a matter of running aground so much as we were pushed aground. once the rip tides caught us in the bay, they pushed us faster and faster. >> the boat is barely visible in the water and moving with the tides. it could cost tens of thousands to remove the wreckage. sky 7 captured incredible video of the boat salvage attempt. you can watch it on abc7news.com. in the north bay, 42 pigs are safe after flames came dangerously close to them inside a high school barn. abc 7 news was at santa rosa high school as school staff checked on the barn. the press democrat reports that flames were spotted in the eves. crews put out the flames in about 11 minutes. hey, sawdust and shelving inside the barn were burned. no structural damage or pigs hurt. officials don't know the cause but say there were heat lamps inside the barn to keep the

animals warm. if you or on twitter, change your password right now. a bug may have compromised all 330 million users passwords. >> a bug allowed unencrypted passwords to be stored in an internal database. if anyone hacked in, they could have accessed the passwords. twitter has fixed the bug and says there's no indication of a breach. >> i got the notification that should secure my account by changing my password. >> if someone hacked it or something, it would have been a big issue. we'll definitely change the passwords. >> some experts say you should days and make sure they are long and complicated. an initiative to protect your privilege see online is a step closer to the ballot. backers turned in 625,000 signatures to try to get it before voters in november. the california consumer privacy

you're never more than seven minutes away from my accuweather forecast. let's start with temperatures. you head into the east bai hills. orinda at 49. san leandro the coolest at 50. everybody else about 51 to 53 degrees in hayward and also in union city. let's take a look elsewhere. low to mid 50s from san francisco down the peninsula into the south bay. for most of our inland east bay neighborhoods, pleasanton about 49. we have that sem temperature in albany and also in napa. pacifica about 48 degrees. here is a look at san rafael -- this is in the area that's not seen the fog just quite yet. it probably won't. so we'll go with mostly cloudy conditions, and for your commute planner, it's going to be good for driving, ferry or mass transit. a little cool this morning. warm this afternoon. check out the north bay this afternoon. what really sticks out are the 70s that start around noon and last all the way through 6:00.

clear out quickly. we'll check that again in ten minutes. also official word that the bay bridge metering lights have been flipped on. 5:33 this morning, just another indication. pretty friday light volumes. two weeks ago, a third eastbound lane was opened up on the richmond-san rafael bridge to ease traffic. apparently it has been a rousing success. data collected by the metropolitan transportation commission calculates roughly 2500 hours in savings every day for drivers between 2:00 and 7:00 p.m. tuesday through thursday on the bridge. now attention is being directed at the now closed westbound third lane on the upper deck to see if opening it would be feasible for cars. an armed suspect runs from police, but a good samaritan takes matters into his own hands, or actually his own feet. >> we're getti

the east bay go, 80 for a lot of us. temperatures tonight, about the same as this morning, upper 40s to mid 50s. my accuweather forecast, temperature spikes today, two days of cooling, temperature spikes monday, two days of cooling, temperatures spike again thursday. get ready for a seesaw. heading back to discovery bay, all lanes are back open following a rollover crash on westbound highway 4 around discovery bay boulevard. not thinning out as quickly as i hoped. still several miles of backup. however, the drive time and delay slowly coming down. at worst about a 35-minute delay. now down to about 20 minutes. if you can delay your trip longer, i think that will improve greatly. we have reports of a motorcycle down blocking the left lane of the ramp. it's not impacting the main lanes of 205. westbound 580 into dublin just 42 minutes.
