live where you live, this is abc 7 news. new details in the deadly shooting in an apartment complex. investigators say a landlord tenant dispute over an eviction notice may have been behind the tragedy. >> thanks for joining us. new information authorities now say a landlord and his daughter had gone to the tenant's pamplt yesterday when the tenant opened fire on them before turning the gun on himself. abc 7 news reporter amy hollyfield is live at the sheriff's office with the latest, amy? >> reporter: hi, yes, the sheriff's office just released this information this morning saying the landlord and his daughter went to see the man about a pending eviction. we have information on the condition of the landlord.

we are told that he is expected to survive. his adult daughter was killed in the shooting. officers are also now saying this morning that the suspect died from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot. the shoot gsz happings happens 3:30 yesterday afternoon on tower drive. witnesses saw the officers on the scene doing what they could to quickly get the victims to help. >> this is mill valley, like i i don't expect anything crazy happening here, so a minute later, there's a chp officer running down the street with an unconscious woman over his shoulder. >> reporter: she did not make it. look at this dramatic video from sky7 showing the intensity of the situation. the swat team had to bust into an apartment looking for the shooter, not sure if he was dead or alive. they found the 80-year-old dead inside with a reinvolvolver on

floor by his feet. the landlord gave the name of the attacker, but because of the condition, they have not been able to interview him yet, but they expect him to survive. officers have not released the names of those involved yet as they are notifying relatives. abc 7 news. >> amy, thank you. federal authorities on the hunt for the gunman who shot and wounded an atf agent this morning in chicago. it happened with an undercover operation run by the city's new anti-gang task force. jessica castro with abc 7 mornings has the latest. >> reporter: a bit of positive news. we have learned the agent is expected to make a full recovery, and the officer or agent, i should say, was shot in the facial area. right now, the gunman still out there. the alcohol-tobacco firearms and explosives agent was hurt in an undercover investigation in chicago's south side. chicago police officers were involved in the overnight operation as well, and we've

learned that when the agent was shot, his colleagues did not wait one second. in fact, they did not even wait for an ambulance. instead, they took him straight to the nearest hospital in a silver suv. >> he is anticipated to make a full recovery. i want to thank all the law enforcement partners throughout the country that reached out to us and given us full support. >> reporter: again, the shooter is still on the loose so there's a major man hunt right now. authorities are using k-9 units as well as fire fighters helping in the search as officers use ladder trucks to search the roof of buildings. we've keep you updated on abc7news.com as well as the app. now to the latest in the golden state killer case. one of the lingering questions people have is why the accused stopped his murder and rape spree. continue on "20/20" hear from the people joseph is accused of directly affecting, of course, that includes his alleged

killed by two police officers demands to know why the district attorney has not made a decision on charging the officers. luis pat died more than two years ago in the shooting near shopwell and 1thth streets. yesterday, the family delivered a letter to the da asking for an explanation. they say when they met with him in february, he told them he would make a decision within six to eight weeks, and the family says they have not heard back. there will be no winner for the nobel prize in literature this year. that's because the swedish academy's embroiled in sex abuse allegations. they announced it in a tweet this morning. the academy is giving out the 2018 prize next year in 2019. nasa's about to launch another spacecraft destined for mars. it's been six years since the last landing there. tomorrow, the mars insight launches from southern california, and the robot geologist will dig deeper than ever before to measure the core temperature and learn about
