>> a 54-year-old celeb chef is in the jail. >> he is accused of robbing a back earlier this week. today he talked with our reporter leslie brinkley. >> reporter: vallone tin o luken admitted to robbing this bank at 11:00 a.m. wednesday. he said, i went inside and said good morning. nobody moves. this is a robbery. i talked with luken at the martinez detention facility armed with a reporters notebook, no camera, no cell phone. >> sitting in his jail gash the celebrity chef described the desperation after the the aclaumd restaurant closed down in late 2016 and he became unemployed. he said we've been struggling a lot financially. and i have a family. he said, i feel bad. it wasn't something i was planning or doing for a living. he claims that wednesday morning he decided to get money and went to the bank. it was a fake gun, he said. a bb gun. he said he told the frightened

teller nothing is going to happen just put the money aside. >> we were just told it was a pistol, a fireman. and that's what we were reacting on. >> did he threaten the bank clerk or. >> i understand he present to do in a manner threatening. the tellers complied. and gave him the money. and he fled the bank and entered a vehicle. >> witness accounts and surveillance video enables police to get a license plate number on the dark older model mercedes. after the robbery luken came back to his home in lafayette. police say he had about $15,000 in cash. >> they followed luken as he drove away from his house and arrested him at this athletic club parking lot on mount diablo boulevard in lafayette three hours after the highest. he is facing robbery charges and is being held on $1,000,000 bail. luken asked me to call his wife and ask her to post bail. she did not answer her cell phone. luken said he wrote a letter of apology to the bank teller that says in part, i'm sorry for the inconvenience to be in front of you with a gun.

abc 7 news reporter mike shumann announced his resignation. two weeks ago shoe admitted to taking a jack belonging to employee of the golden state warriors on assignment in san antonio. shoe released the following statement i'd like to read. it's with sadness that i announce that abc 7 news and i have decided to amickably part ways after 24 years together. i regret embarrassment i caused the station. my recent actions do not reflect the high standard of conduct expected at kgo more do they represent the integrity with which i have conducted my professional sports and broadcast careers. i have nothing but grate memories working here. and covering four world series, three super bowls, three nba championship runs. a stanley cup and two u.s. opens. i want to wish the station, and all my fantastic colleagues at abc 7 the best as they move forward. it has been my pleasure to work with you. i also want to thank all the
