afternoon. we'll talk about how that impacts your sunday, coming up. >> thank you. breaking news out of san jose. police are investigating an officer involved shooting near downtown san jose. it started as an armed home invasion robbery. police say officers opened fire on a suspect. no one was hurt. two people are under arrest. there are some street closures in the area. officers found the man shot one time. no details have been released about a motive or a suspect.

police say a driver hit and killed a woman in her 80s. it happened just after 8:30 last night on east charleston road. the woman was not walking in a crosswalk when the driver of a pickup hit her. the driver, a woman in her 20s is cooperating with police. they do not believe drugs or alcohol were involved in that collision. developing news in hawaii. lava continues to keep people out of their homes on the big island and leave them unsure when exactly they'll be allowed to return. since the eruption on thursday, several quakes have jolted the island including a 4.2 this morning and a 6.9 magnitude

gas still pouring into the air. officials are so concerned about the dangerous air quality they have set up roadblocks to prevent people from getting too close. >> when the environment is safe, we will be able to admit them back into the area. >> reporter: the eruptions have been triggered by multiple earthquakes over the last few days including a 6.9 magnitude quake, the biggest since 1975. >> reporter: no one has been seriously injured. it's impossible to predict how long an eruption will last. bryan clark, abc news, new york. a bay area family who just moved to hawaii from santa rosa after surviving the wildfires is among those being forced to evacuate. zoe and her two daughters are among those who have had to leave their homes.

baby has died after being mauled by a dog in southern california. it happened inside a home in sherman oaks last night. the 3-month-old was in critical condition when taken to the hospital where she later died. uf officers took three dogs from the home into custody. they took dna samples to determine which dog or dogs were responsibility for the attack. it's unclear what happened. marijuana festival was held in california on state owned property for the first time. the two-day high times ended in character. it was the place to go to find anything and everything related to pot. the event featured performers including

>> reporter: thursday night's fire could have been a lot worse. most of them rushed to the small barn in their pajamas. >> it was automatically an instant adrenaline rush. >> reporter: on october 9th, the tubs fire destroyed the department's farm and barn out on alba lane. no animals were lost then. thursday night, all were safe too. the fire brought all of those old feelings and fears rushing back. >> we just can't catch a break. >> reporter: fire already took her fountain grove home, the school's farm and now threatened her beloved pigs. in it was like our second home after ours were like gone. having that also like part of it, like catch on fire was pretty crazy. >> reporter: every one is trying to look forward toward the future and to a fund-raiser where organizers hope to raise

san rafael. the coolest day of the week. if you're headed to the coast only in the mid-50s today with the fog retreating here. the ocean temperature went down considerably last week with some pretty god up welling. as we look towards monday we'll bump up the temperatures a bit. then on tuesday still a few 80s inland. overall we'll go back towards a more usual regime come tuesday and wednesday. today is the coolest day out there. 62 in oakland. 59 san francisco. those winds up to 30 miles an hour. 71 in san jose.

musk said he would name his competing company crypto candy. public schools have long relied on the generousty of the community. one restaurant owner has gone way beyond her civic duty helping to raise a million dollars for schools in san francisco and san hjose. selling tacos helped the buy ipads and other school essentials. >> reporter: sarah is the mother of two public school kids. she and her husband came up with a formula for giving. >> from september to may we give 15% of a month's worth of monday proceeds to that school. >> reporter: for example, the restaurant in the mission district of san francisco supports nine schools in that specific community. every month one of the nine

schools gets the funds. this month they will cut a check to mission high school. >> if we can raise 15% of monday proceeds for a whole month's time, that school will get a check like 3 to $8,000. if you luck out and it's cin cincf -- cinco de de de de monday, they will get a lot of money. >> it's solidifies the messages that we try to teach in school is we're all a community whether it be in a school or outside and more local community. >> reporter: they started donating to schools in 2012 and so far they have raised $1 million. to celebrate getting to the million dollar mark, the restaurant will have a fund raising party on may 14th. all the money from that event will go to the mason scholarship award which helps seniors from

you have a warm up on tap for the first day of the workweek. we will cool down just a bit. look what happens by thursday another warm up. by the weekend, the enlds of d week it will get toasty. it really warmed up the coast, the north bay and the breezy delta wind has made it kind of cool for parts in the east bay. although you too are in the upper 50s. the system passing to the east of us allowing for the northwesterly winds to take over today but also helping us to clear out. i talked about that breezy wind by fair field. three to six degrees cooler. right here the winds were calm. we had the sunshine. a bit of a bump.

we did have the cloud cover overnight. that did insulate us. 55 in oakland. 57 in san jose. gilroy 59 degds. up top things look quite still right now. you can still see some of the low clouds. from 24 to 35 miles an hour. some of the hill tops and we'll show you what we can expect in just a moment all around the bay today. 60 in concord. 55 for you in napa. here is the way it will play out. this means the breezier conditions. the direction is straight off the 53 degrees ocean water and continues to increase by 7:00. it's quite gusty along the shoreline. if you're headed to the coast keep that in mind. we're looking at very breezy winds up to the north as well. the flag here shows you that the winds are blowing out there.
