the story. >> reporter: ucsf had several days, weeks to prepare for the strike, calling in temporary workers. tomorrow is a different challenge as the powerful nurses union joins this strike. more than 12,000 procedures and appointments alone had to be canceled and rescheduled because of the three-day strike. >> we actually had an overabundance of staff. some staff worked in other areas. and some staff went home. and so we are now preparing for tomorrow. >> reporter: tomorrow, the nurses will join those on the picket lines. those on strike are custodians, cooks, security guards and anyone who is responsible for patient care who is not a doctor or nurse. >> workers stand together against inequality and against

picket line. in san francisco, lyanne melendez. a deadly crash an ambulance on its side at the intersection of hess sperian and lieu wennen boulevard. >> reporter: the traffic is back to normal at this intersection in san lorenzo. it was a tough scene for people to process. let's take a look at video from earlier today. you can see for yourself the severity of this accident. a fatal accident here. the driver of a white audi sedan was traveling east when it collided with an ambulance that was heading south on hesssperian. a 74-year-old female patient did

not survive. two paramedics and a firefighter was taken to the hospital with injuries. >> self-extricated and was able to provide emergency medical care and assisted with coordinating resources. >> reporter: this view from sky 7 showing the extensive scene that is typically one of the busiest intersections. it was closed for the entire afternoon but it opened up about ten minutes. back here live, the coroner's office will release the name of the victim once next of kin has been notified. i am chris nguyen, abc7 news. investigating the fifth homicide of the year. last night an attack led to a man's death in lucas park.

police say they have a suspect in custody. san francisco police arrested this man who they call a prolific burglary. suspected of a series of burglaries primarily targeting tech start ups. police say flanagan has an extensive history of burglary arrest and was on felony probation at the time of the crimes. suspect wanted in san jose in connection with a home invasion robbery. learned the hard way it is not easy to slip away from police. he jumped into a barrel, it had 50 gallons of grease. >> reporter: the suspect saw these three barrels, he jumped into one and it was filled

almost to the top of a day's grease. chasing him after suspected with a home invasion robbery. >> the suspect looked at the officer and did not drop the gun. at this point the officer discharged the weapon at the suspect. >> reporter: it appears the officer fired at the suspect four times. that is the number of bullet holes behind the cali-spartan. another officer caught up with the suspect who gave up his gun which police later discovered was stole skn and loaded. a second suspect was also arrested. the way a restaurant warrior

week, high temperatures inland close to the 90-degree mark. fog developing at the coastline and maybe a patch or two at the bay. and then tomorrow will have hazy sunshine, and high clouds. highs will range from low 60s. inland, we will see 80 degrees in a few locations but not the mid-80s that we saw today. providing the current pattern, we have sunny and mild conditions because of center and high pressure off the southern california coast but that is going to slide east ward. and that is going to be bring us cooler air certainly on wednesday along with reinforcing the increasing winds. looking ahead on wednesday, one day cool down reaching from the low to mid-70s inland. and on the coast, mid to upper 50s. on thursday warming up again.
