outsourcing period. >> reporter: before landing a staff position with ucsf, he was an independent contractor at the medical center. >> the pay wage is a lot different. so it is like, you can go from making minimum wage and no go from making 20 something an hour. >> tired of seeing my job exploit workers. especially immigrants and people of color. >> reporter: the union wants raises of 20% over three years. >> the hospital has offered 3% over four years. >> i cannot keep up with the rising cost of food, education and mostly the housing. >> reporter: the union has a patient protection task force at the hospital. not all union workers are on the

not survive. two paramedics and a firefighter was taken to the hospital with injuries. >> self-extricated and was able to provide emergency medical care and assisted with coordinating resources. >> reporter: this view from sky 7 showing the extensive scene that is typically one of the busiest intersections. it was closed for the entire afternoon but it opened up about ten minutes. back here live, the coroner's office will release the name of the victim once next of kin has been notified. i am chris nguyen, abc7 news. investigating the fifth homicide of the year. last night an attack led to a man's death in lucas park.

police say they have a suspect in custody. san francisco police arrested this man who they call a prolific burglary. suspected of a series of burglaries primarily targeting tech start ups. police say flanagan has an extensive history of burglary arrest and was on felony probation at the time of the crimes. suspect wanted in san jose in connection with a home invasion robbery. learned the hard way it is not easy to slip away from police. he jumped into a barrel, it had 50 gallons of grease. >> reporter: the suspect saw these three barrels, he jumped into one and it was filled

almost to the top of a day's grease. chasing him after suspected with a home invasion robbery. >> the suspect looked at the officer and did not drop the gun. at this point the officer discharged the weapon at the suspect. >> reporter: it appears the officer fired at the suspect four times. that is the number of bullet holes behind the cali-spartan. another officer caught up with the suspect who gave up his gun which police later discovered was stole skn and loaded. a second suspect was also arrested. the way a restaurant warrior

described it, grease would make the suspect hard to handle. >> they would smell bad. that would be a dirty police car after wards. >> reporter: in san jose, david louie abc7 news. a major step in a monterey county cold case from nearly two decades ago. prosecutors formally charge a suspect. the suspect appeared in court today 11 years after authorities first issued a warrant after their arrest.
