minutes. new this morning, the emergency room at valley medical center in san jose had to be put on lockdown after a hazmat situation there. abc 7 news reporter matt keller is live at the hospital with details on how many people were exposed to the chemical. hi, matt. >> reporter: good morning, jessica. this is where it all went down, right in this parking lot right outside the emergency room. that's where the decontamination process took place. san jose fire was called to valley medical center about 11:45 to help with a possible hazmat situation. hospital workers needed help with the decontamination procedure. this started as a patient was flown in on a medical helicopter. firefighters contacted the patient's employer to find out what substance he and the medical staff was exposed to. they isolated the patient and staff. >> we were able to determine that it was just stuff that needed to be deconned with soap and water. we were able to do that with the

assistance of valley medical personnel. >> the helipad was shut down as they worked on getting the helicopter decontaminated. firefighters say this is not normal here but all the proper procedures were followed. live in san jose, matt keller, abc 7 news. happening today, state regulators expected to give solar power a big boost. the state energy commission is set to vote on rules that would require solar panels in most new comes in california starting in two years. it would apply to buildings three stories or left. remodeled homes would be exempt. it's expected to add about $9,000 to the cost of a new home. a quick update on your weather and traffic. you're never more than seven minutes away from my accuweather forecast. >> thanks, guys. $9,000, that's not bad compared to what a lot of us already paid for solar panels. you can see it's about a mile at half moon bay and not hitting

this morning i'm tracking fallout from the u.s. exit from the iran nuclear deal. there was a shocking protest only a short time ago overnight by iranian leaders. look at this. iran lawmakers burned a paper u.s. flag and a symbolic copy of the iran deal and chanted death to america. iran's parliament speaker then said president trump, quote, does not have the mental capacity to deal with issues and he also said, quote, it is obvious that trump only understands the language of force. pesident trump pulled out of the iran nuclear deal yesterday as you may know. leaders of france, germany, as well as the uk all say they have, quote, have regret and concern at president trump's decision. this morning they are calling for iran to maintain its commitments under the deal. i'll keep watching developments throughout the morning. secretary of state mike pompeo is in north korea this

morningalizing details of the planned summit between president trump and kim jong-un. this morning he told a senior north korean official the u.s. wants to resolve differences between the two nations but says challenges remain. pompeo will press for the release of three american citizens that north korea is holding. there are signs it may be ready to release them. this is pompeo's second visit to that country. he was there over easter weekend. the second batch of the new b.a.r.t. rails got the green light. another ten-car train will roll onto the tracks by next week. the state public utilities commission approved the train yesterday. the new rail cars will run on both the richmond-fremont line and the warms springs-daly city line. officials expect to have 80 new cars in service. embattled judge aaron persky is breaking his silence about a recall effort against him. it began after he gave just a

six-month sentence to brock turner, the former stanford stew opportunity convicted of sexually assaulting an unconscious woman. the judge says he can't speak about the place but says why he hasn't said anything until yesterday. >> i think judges should typically zip it and take the heat, take the criticism. it's only when you get to a point where there's a very real chance that the recall will be successful it gets serious for me. >> the recall is on the june 5th ballot. persky says if it's successful, it may untd mine the public's confidence that judges will make tough calls. >> the plan to build massive tums to divert water to central and southern california is getting a big boost. the sclera water district is committing up to $650 mill i don't know to willed those tunnels. supporters say the $17 billion project will provide water to areas that need it badly.

environmental groups say the tunnels will harm wildlife and water quality in san francisco bay. >> what a big relief for a heartbroken dog owner in san francisco. she has found her stolen pug, and here they are reunited. stephanie lee had been searching for filo last week. a woman who saw the story on the news thought she spotted the dochlgt lee discovered that filo had been sold and was in oakland. she took him to the vet last night and he seems just fine. for the fourth straight season, the warriors have advanced to the western conference finals. >> last night golden state closed out the pelicans 113-104 in game five. the warriors will have several days to prepare for the u.s. top seed, the houston rockets. tickets for games three, four and six at oracle arena go on sale to the general public tomorrow at 6:00 p.m. games one and two are in houston. the series opener happens monday at 6:00 p.m.

you're never more than seven minutes away from my accuweather forecast. let's start with temperatures in san francisco. pretty mild out there. ocean beach, castro, mission, glenn park, excelsior and bayview at 55. here is a look at the fog and mist hanging around. this is the golden gate bridge looking newspaper. we'll have to slow down, maybe use the windshield wipers a couple of times. maybe put a caution on there for that. it will be good this afternoon. your commute on the roads, a small craft advisory, but it's across the entire bay, not just north of the bay bridge like it was yesterday. now it's south of the bay bridge. it's going to be cool tomorrow if you're taking mass transit. you can see everything in yellow from 1:00 to 9:00, rather breezy with west winds gusting from 30 to 35 miles per hour. that means the cooling is going to reach all of our neighborhoods today. we start in the east bay valleys

at 60, 71 at noon. mid 70s during the afternoon hours. pretty comfortable even if we don't get total sunshine and it is breezy from time to time. same thing in the north bay, fog and cloudiness at 8:00 and 56. we'll break out to partly cloudy conditions by noon. back to 62 by 8:00. we'll bring alexis in. we know my story of the morning. what anybody else's story on the roads this morning? >> nothing quite as exciting as your start to the day which is obviously good news. we don't have any major delays right now. a bit of reduced visibility. we don't have any dense fog advisories. looking pretty foggy on the golden gate bridge as mike just showed us. you can see some of that mist, a few drops on our traffic camera lens for the san mateo bridge. no heavy volumes, westbound 92 looking fine. yesterday this was a trouble spot early in the morning, we had a crash past the miss span. today nothing blocking. pretty much the entire bay area

plus our accuweather forecast coming up soon. just coming in, we're finally hearing from some of those passengers on a delta air lines flight that were forced to evacuate using emergency slides at delta international airport, and it's all after a chemical smell in the cabin. you may have already seen this story online, perhaps on your phone of the flight from detroit to denver, had to make that emergency exit. passengers actually reported smoke and a smell within the cabin, a chemical smell when that plane was taxiing to the terminal. 146 people on board. they had to use the emergency slides to get out. listen to some of these new interviews from them. >> great flight up until when we landed here on the runway and we were taxiing and the cabin started filling with smoke. >> she started barking before everybody else smelled it. i knew right away something was wrong. >> something was definitely wrong. airline and airport officials

say no flames were ever found on board that plane, only minor injuries were reported. >> concern about a shortage of epipens has prompted kaiser to limit the drug's supply. kaiser says it's providing only one syringe at a time. a patient advocacy group says 45 states have reported a shortage of the allergy shots. the drugmaker says it's experiencing manufacturing delays because of a new process flowing complaints about defective epipens. >> we still don't have an official cause of the north bay wildfires. that hasn't stopped hundreds of lawsuits from blaming pg&e. now the utility is opening a center to try to get a handle on the next potential disaster. abc reporter vic lee has story. >> reporter: in northern and central california they'll coordinate efforts with first responders and deploy their own

firefighting teams headed by partners, capstone fire and safety management. >> the risk during wildfire season is so great that we thought we need to have a stand up specialized function looking at wildfirs. >> reporter: critical is the weather station which kicks back weather reports from high-risk fire zones that tracks and monitors the area. this is also where pg&e will make the controversial decision to shut off power. >> the risk of a fire starting and spreading is so seve z a last resort, shutting down the power makes sense. >> reporter: the op center comes on the heels of the deadliest and most destructive fires in the city, the north bay fires where more than 6,000 homes destroyed, 40 people killed. the santa rosa fire department says at least two fires were caused when pge's power lines arced, setting fires to dry vegetation. the utility has been slapped

with more than 100 lawsuits including one by sonoma county. pg&e says the north bay fires were mott the reason for the new op center. >> it really is recognizing that conditions have changed, continued to change and it's really focusing on those conditions. >> the lawsuits, were they a major factor? >> not a factor at all. >> reporter: well, both the state puc and cal fire are investigating the north bay fires to find out what caused them. most of the lawsuits, by the way, claim the utility failed to maintain and repair its power lines and that pg&e did a poor job of clearing vegetation from around their lines. vic lee, abc 7 news. >> mike, i want to ask how is our fire season looking right now? >> right now it's okay. you notice every day things get browner and browner. that means it's going to get worse and worse. we were watching friday night into saturday for gusty winds. still need to see if those
